Infinity home hub 5 dropping

For about 2 weeks now my infinity home hub 5 keeps resetting itself.
This is getting progressively worse. I'm at the stage now where it's happening every couple of minutes.

  • HP Deskjet 3070a and BT Infinity Home Hub 2.

    I purchased a HP Deskjet 3070a yesterday and I can't get it to connect to my BT Infinity Home Hub 2. There are 2 ways of connectng to the wireless network:
    1) Push the WPS button on Hub - but the BT Infinity Hub doesn't have one
    2) Enter the 8 digit pin (generated by the printer) into the routers configuration - I can't see anywhere in the Hub to configure this
    I purchased the printer to use Wireless ePrint so if I can't resolve I will return to HP. 
    I see other people have experienced similar problems. I can't believe a standard HP printer has problems connecting to one th UK's most widely used broadband hubs.
    Hope someone can help

    There is a third way to get Deskjet printers on a network.  The primary method of connecting the deskjet to a network is to use the software on the computer to do a USB to Wireless connection.
    What operating system does the computer use?
    The steps to do this for your respective operating system can be found in this document from HP.  The steps start after the WPS method.  USB to wireless will require a computer on the same network and a USB cable to transmit the network data to the printer.

  • Infinity Home Hub Datasheet

    Hi does anybody have a datasheet or technical details on the new Infinity Home Hub.  I used to have the old one (black curved one).  This was wireless N, but as it only has 1 aerial I could never get more than 130mbps using wireless, so I changed to a Netgear router with 2 aerials and can get up to 270mbbs which I need with our house.
    So I was wondering what the wireless spec of the new HH is?

  • BT Infinity Home Hub 2 Type B(i)

    Hi,
    I just moved from a BT Infinity area to a standard ADSL brandband area.
    BT asked me to re-use my BT Infinity Home Hub 2 Type B(i), but I just can't get it to connect to broadband.
    I plugged RJ11 cable from the purple landline socket to the ADSL socket on the filter, but all I get is power and WIFI lights.
    I suspect BT Infinity Home Hub 2 Type B(i) is not compatible with ADSL broadband, but BT service call centre insists it can.
    Does anyone on here had experience similar? or know technical specs of a BT Infinity Home Hub 2 Type B(i)?

    have you tried a factory reset of the hub - hold the recessed button on back until lights flash

  • BT Infinity Home Hub Has Suddenly Started Dropping...

    Hi,
    Had BT Infinity installed last September and has worked like a dream, no issues what so ever, with losing connection etc
    Suddenly on Monday night, the Home Hub, that came with it, (think it's Vs 2.0, black), now keeps dropping out, i.e. all lights go out. Starts back up again, all 3 lights go Blue, then bang, it goes out again.  It does this several times. Did this last night and again this morning.
    We have not done anything, moved anything, changed anything, got any new electrical equipment etc etc, so WHY has it suddenly started to do this?
    I've tried resetting both the home hub and the ADSL modem thing, to no avail
    Please help before I end up throwing it out of the window!!

    This is a HH3
    Mine is defo the HH2. As pictured below. by 3 blue lights, i meant, that they are the 3 that are always lit! i.e. no Phone!

  • Bt infinity - home hub 5 - dropping connection

    Ok guys, might be a difficult one for you here.
    I have had infinity installed since October. I have always suffered from drop outs in my connection.
    What happens is that the big blue light on the hh will turn orange for maybe 5 seconds or so and then go back to blue. But it's long enough to kick me out of an online game for example.
    Router logs show something for the disconnection, but no info really.
    I have had 3 home hubs, brand new internal wiring in my house, and 4 or 5 engineers out to check things out, as the line was also a lot slower than initially expected.
    I have had another engineer out yesterday and today, who has changed my entire line back to the green box. But it has just disconnected on my again whilst playing titanfall.
    Does anybody here have any ideas? Engineers are at a loss, BT India support are clueless. I'm out of ideas

    The only thing that makes me wonder, is that I am not seeing these VDSL up and down resyncs. And most people have been seeing these issues since late January, mine go back to October.

    I do have a OR modem around, unused, that I managed to talk one of the engineers in to giving me, as plan was to use my AirPort Extreme, but I didn't want to start using that until the connection was fixed, as first thing bt support would say is that it's my router causing the fault.
    I could try the OR modem, just not sure if this is my problem or not. Anybody know anything from the logs I have posted? Or will any other logs help out?

  • BT Infinity - Home Hub 3 - Lack of Wi Fi Range

    Hi, I have BT Infinity (Fibre to Cabinet) and a Home Hub 3.  I have my iMac connected to the Hub, about two feet away, via an ethernet cable.
    When I connect my iPad via WiFi, approximately 15 feet away in another room, the WiFi signal is not very good at all, in fact it drops the signal completely some times.
    I switched to BT because of their advertising, which said I could run multiple devices around the house with no problem, it seems I can't and not very happy.
    Can some one explain please...

  • BT Infinity, Home Hub 5 and Vonage VoIP not compat...

    I have just (last Wednesday) switched from Sky Broadband to BT Infinity. I have a HH5 to which I wirelessly connect a TP-Link W8968 in wireless router only mode.  I have all this set up and it all works, but I cannot get a dial tone from my Vonage VoIP phone line.
    It did come online for about 12 hours on Friday evening but has dropped off again.  It was plugged into the TP-Link router.
    I have now plugged it directly into the HH5 to try to get a signal.
    I have spent 4 hours on the phone with Vonage who have now told me (4th different person to speak to) after countless 'unplug it' and 'reset it' that the only way a Vonage line can operate with the HH4 and the HH5 is for all BT parental controls from within mybt.com to be deleted.  I have now done this but must now wait 2 hours to plug the Vonage box back in.
    But, I need the parental controls for the children's internet use and do not want to have to delete them.
    Surely there is another way for the Vonage box to work with an HH5?  It worked perfectly through my TP-Link with Sky Broadband.
    Any help gratefully received.

    Giving the VOIP device a static LAN IP address, outside of the DHCP range is best, as the home hubs will quite often issue different addresses via DHCP, and tend to ignore lease times. The fact that it worked for a while would suggest that maybe the LAN IP had changed.

  • BT Home Hub dropping out & turning itself off, Is ...

    For the last 24 hours I've been losing connection in the house and have had to do a reset a few times, 
    This morning I woke up to my home hub having no lights on however the power was plugged in and on/of button pressed down, I then tested the speed and that seemed to cause the home hub to drop out once again showing no lights and needing reseting......sounds like it's about to die, might be wrong though?? 

    if factory resets does not bring it back to life ( depressing small recessed button on back) then does sound as if hub is dying and you need to phone CS 08001114567 and if you are still in contract then they should replace it

  • Infinity home hub 2

    Well it all went well with the installation, until he plugged the new bt homehub into the openreach modem that is. The broadband light would'nt turn a solid blue, it just stayed orange. Anyway he went to his van and put a home hub 2 with the red ethinet on it, and it works fine. Im now getting 38mb down and 8mb up, with im very happy with. But my main point is, is that when i ordered infinity, they took away my bt talk because they're not compatable with the new hub 3. So surely with this other hub i should be able to get it reconnected right?. I tried registering the old hub phone to the infinity hub and it registered fine. Anyone know about this.     Thanks for posting. Sorry for the delay in getting back. Once the Infinity has been activated and the Talk switched off we can't reconnect the Talk service because it's not compatible with the Infinity service even though you're using the Hub 2.

  • Home hub dropping connection

    New here so sorry if this is in the wrong place, or if I miss any information. I'll try to be as descriptive as possible.
    I've had my bt infinity setup for around a month and a half. The home hub has been connected to an extention socket, and my computers are wired to the home hub.
    This was working fine until two nights ago, when the home hub power light started flashing orange. There are no other lights showing on the home hub. The Internet was not working at all at this point, and my computer was saying that 'additional login information may be required'
    When I open a browser I'm taken through the diagnostics, but it doesn't correspond exactly to the issue, as the broadband light is not also flashing on my home hub.
    Last night I tried moving the home hub to the master socket. This appeared to work for a short time, but before long it was back to the exact same situation as the extention socket. The Internet works intermittently on the master socket.
    According to bt there are no faults on the line. I have tried resetting the settings on my home hub also. I have tried calling bt but was on hold for quite a while to their technical team. Any help is much appreciated.

    By using the test socket on the master socket, you should be removing ALL of the home wiring. This is to ensure your home wiring isn't the cause of your problems. Should the home wiring be the cause, then you would be charged for an engineer's visit, somewhere around £130 !!!

  • Infinity Home Hub

    Hi  Next week all being well I have Infinity installed by an BT engineer.   Can someone tell me please where the Open Reach Modem and the BT Home Hub will be placed.  I would think that the Modem would be close to the entry into the property and the Home Hub close to the computer.  The reason for asking is that I may go for BT Vision, and I would have to have a Ethernet link between the TV and Home Hub.

    The modem will usually be placed where your master socket is.  They should move the master socket or add a data extension kit if asked; but some installers are unwilling to do so.
    You can run and ethernet cable of any reasonable length between the modem and HomeHub: the installer won't do it for you.  Similarly for any ethernet you may want from HomeHub to TV.
    Depending on how much time you have, it may be best to keep the HomeHub near the modem for the initial install, as long as you have some device (laptop?) you can conveniently use to verify the install.  Then move the HomeHub at your convenience later.  Moving the modem after install is more of an issue, and any extra wiring involved could reduce your speeds.

    Hi Guys, I have a Home Hub 2 with some specific DynDNS and port forwarding settings set up on it. I have just ordered Infinity and was wondering if the Home Hub 2 backup file is compatible with the new Infinity Hub? It would save me a lot of messing about adding all the settings back in again!

    Just ask the engineer, he has software on his laptop which will enable him to copy all setting from old hub to new infinity hub

  • BT Infinity & Home Hub 3

    I've just had Infinity installed over 10 days ago and all appears to be working ok. Getting downloads speeds of around 36-37Mbps when I plugged a laptop into the back of the home hub 3 with the Yellow Ethernet cable.
    But when I run various speeds tests over WiFi the speed is much poorer, no more than 15Mbps. I have tested the speeds with both my laptop (intel Wifi network card) and my desktop PC (NetGear Wifi Network card), both give similar results.
    Using the smart wizard which I installed with my NetGear Wifi drivers (yest they are up to date), I can see that my connection is not conflicting with any other channels in my neighbourhood, but the connection type is (B). I know that both WiFi devices are new and support (G). When I look at the HomeHub router options in the Advanced Settings the options listed are B/G/N. Is there any way I can set the HomeHub to work on (G) ?

  • BT Infinity Home Hub 5 keeps disconnecting

    We have the Home Hub 5 broadband for few months. We have been experiencing the regular (10-20) disconnections per day, without the internet connecting  back automatically. We need to go back to networks and select connect (or sometimes disconnect, as the message is that the connection is limited) and then try to connect again. Despite having selected connect automatically on many occassions, that is never implemented. Sometimes, when the connection drops the router light changes to orange colour (for few seconds) and then get blue again, sometimes it seems to stay blue throughout.  

    Distance Selling regulations alone won't be of much use unless it has been less than 7 days since you received the HH5. If it is less than 7 days, contact them and inform that you wish to return the item - you do not need to give a reason.
    If there is a fault then your contract is with whoever you purchased the items from. If BT directly then it is them you'll need to speak to, however I "believe" you have to give them "reasonable" time/chance to sovle the issue before a refund can be demanded.
