Initial installation - password/account wipe?

So, I have a brand-spanking new Mini in the server configuration.
Went through the initial install, everything seemed fine, got to the "configuring services" screen, where it then threw an error saying "a keychain cannot be found to store userid" giving me cancel and reset options. Cancel did nothing, the help button did nothing, so I reset. Machine then comes up, but the user I had set no longer logs in. (unclear if account even exists)
After some gyrations (would not boot off my Air's USB Superdrive) got it up and the password reset utility only offered a "root" user. So, I figured I wanted to change some options anyway (stripe the two internal disks) so I'd re-do. Same thing happened this time.
I'm net booting into the utility one more time, with any luck I can do the password reset, and at least create a root user, but this seems odd. Totally fresh install, no other domain controllers or anything like that on the network. Poking around this forum and google hasn't shown that error message anywhere (except in some app-related keychain threads)

I was having the same problem with my early version of the OS X Server 10.6 install disc.
Here is what I did with my Xserve:
1. Disconnected one of the network interfaces.
2. Hooked up a wired Apple keyboard and mouse (was on a PS2 KVM switch with a USB adapter).
3. Booted from the install DVD.
4. Repartitioned my drives, setup a new RAID set.
5. Installed the OS, and when the validation screen appeared, I powered of the server with the power button.
6. Booted the Xserve in Target Disk Mode, and hooked up a Firewire cable between a MacBook and the server.
7. Downloaded the 10.6.2 Combined Update on the MacBook, Applied the update to the Xserve.
8. Rebooted the Xserve, and completed the validation.
9. Plugged other network interface, and completed the install routine.

Since a Solution Manager is a double stack installation (ABAP + Java) and has the UME configured that the passwords in the ABAP are used you can change (most of) them in ABAP.
HOWEVER: Those passwords are used on different places and you would need to check the specific application section where they are used (WebDynpro connections, JCo etc.)

I think you mean your admin password.
For Lion v10.7 > OS X Lion: Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password

Getting stuck at "Initializing Installer" when installing Adobe CS6 Master Collection

I've successfully downloaded the .dmg file to install the Master Collection. After opening it, the "Initializing Installer" window pops up, then it gets stuck there. Attempting to cancel it freezes my Mac. Restarting hasn't helped. Any suggestions?
My specs: Mac OS X version 10.7.5

You don't use your Apple ID or its password to install anything on your Mac. You use the admin account's name and password.
Use the name and password you last entered when resetting them. The "name" you use is not the short name of the admin account folder.
For example. If you create an admin account of John Smith, the short name given to that account's folder will be johnsmith. So when an app requests an admin name and password to install something, the admin name you enter is John Smith, not johnsmith.

Reset Password using Recovery HD
Boot into Recovery Partition.
Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
Wait until OS X Utilities window shows up.
Move the mouse to the menubar at the top and click "Utilities", then select "Terminal"
from the drop down.
Terminal window will appear.
Type in resetpassword and press enter on the keyboard.
Leave the Terminal window open.
Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.
Select the user account from the popup menu box.
Enter a new password.
Reenter the new password for the user.
Enter a hint.
Click the "Save" button.
Click  in the menubar and select Restart.
Log in.
If Keychain dialog box appears, select “Create New Keychain”.

You should see a list of available contacts which would make messages appear. Make certain that each family member has their own individual contact and NOT the same one that you use. I find it useful to have each family member have their own icloud email and use that for iMessaging my kids. My kids do not have iPhones, but if yours do, their phone number should be listed as well. For iPads and iTouches, use icloud email addresses. If you need to send a message to all 3 kids, say, you can just add all three emails to the To box on your iMessage.

What is the correct procedure to install a TCS application not included in the initial installation?

I can go through the installation procedure to the point when I've switched to the 2nd DVD. Setup resumes and a few seconds later states that no application was installed.
I'm adding Captivate to my initial installation of FM9, Acrobat9 and Photoshop. I'm not uninstalling them first. Should I? Why?
The initial installation was a year ago. The OS is Windows 7.

Yes, I just want to add Captivate. I've been successfully doing the canonical installation (DVD1 > setup (autoplay wouldn't work due according to the error message to a Unicode error in the lang.dat file) up to the switch to DVD2.
As far as starting from DVD2 is concerned, there's no setup file on it to launch. So that route is out.
Another option (because some have reported issues with installing from DVD) is to copy the contents of both DVDs to a temp folder on your hard drive and start the install from there.
Copying DVD2 to the HD might be a solution. Unless data is somehow corrupted on DVD2, but in that case, why did the original installation succeed?

Hello. I have a pretty big problem, I can't install Photoshop or Premiere Pro on my PC. I get to the " initializing installer " part, it fills to 100%, then the window simply disappears. What should I do ? My OS is XP SP3, and I have enough HDD space left - around 50gb in C: and 550gb in D:, so this isn't the problem. Also, I don't have any old installs of Photoshop / Premiere Pro on my PC. As for the windows, I've just re-installed it last week, so I'm sure that I don't have any viruses or stuff like that. One thing that I must mention - before I re-installed my windows, I was able to install both Photoshop and Premiere Pro. I hope you can help me. Thanks

Photoshop 32bit should, but Premiere Pro CS5 will NOT install on WinXP... PPro CS5 REQUIRES a 64bit operating system to install
If you really need PPro CS5, you will have to upgrade Windows to Win7 64bit... the Pro version is most used for video editing
If you bought a CS5 suite, Premiere Pro CS4 is included for those with a 32bit version of Windows

You might want to just manually power down your machine and, if necessary, start the installation process anew. You're unlikely to damage anything by doing this. It may have actually installed and is just hanging when it's supposed to reboot.

Message: we had fios installed and the 1st tech did not replace the cable. The 2nd tech came and verified that it was not correct cable. we were told we could either buy the 8 dollar a month service charge or dispute the bill when it arrived since the 1st installer did not install properly.....we should not be charged for work that was not completed properly at initial installation, please contact me ASAP, thank you.........never heard back, spoke with someone on the phone that was a supervisor who would not even listen to what we (husband and I) were saying....frustrating to be told one thing and now we are not even being listened to at all......like robots.....the same sentence over and over again.....they are valid charges, they are valid charges, they are valid charges......doesn't seem to be anyone in charge that is able to make decisions based on customer needs? Rename a Data Integrator server after initial installation

Is it possible to rename the Data Integrator server after initial installation?

The easiest thing to do is running the server manager before the migration and remove the repository assoziation or the entire jobserver. Same with the management console.
Then move the server.
And recreate the jobserver and webadmin entry.
In case it is too late for the first step, simply truncate AL_MACHINE_INFO table deleting all jobserver/webadmin links and then resync those.
