Inoperable printer

Hello,
Printer wouldn't print so I aquired a new driver download on-line. Still not working/printing so uninstalled everytghing and tried to reinstall. Now 4 lines indicating registry keys are the problem. I'm stumped, cant get any further and need support.
Is there anything I can do to get the printer back to working?

Hi @Snojob
What printer model do you have?  How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
While I wait to hear back from you, running the Print and Scan Doctor might help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
Connectivity:
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
Device Status Test: Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
Driver Check: Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
Device Manager: Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
Device Online: Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
Print Queue: Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
Port Match: Checks the port settings for the HP product.
Device Conflicts: Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
Ink Issues: Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
Print Settings: Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
Test Print: Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
Scan Tests: Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.

Click here to download and run the Print and Scan Doctor> www.hp.com/go/tools
If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.
If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • Adobe reader print current view and snapshot tool inoperable

Print current view is inoperable in part of the document snapshot tool is inoperable in all of the document, why?
I am trying to print a two page pdf in larger print and can't figure out how to do it.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooook.  I tried that, but Adobe reader froze so hard, I had to do a hard boot.  Don't ever start Adobe Reader then go to straight to "help". When I exited help,  I got a red screen which had "legal notices" and "credits".  Clicking on either of those worked.  When I tried to exit, I just got a beep.  When I tried to close with the task manager it said that the program was locked and could not be closed.  When I tried to soft re-boot my whole system froze.  Only a hard boot got me out of the frozen Adobe reader.
Now back to the task at hand.  Fit does nothing.  To make the document readable, I have to zoom to 125%, but zoom does not influence type size except in "current view", To print a two page document, I have to do 26 "current views".  I NEED the snapshot tool, why is it inoperable?

  • Print function INOPERATIVE

I recently had to re-install the software and drivers for an HP Designjet 130. I am using CS3 with WIN XP, SP3
Now,when ever I select PRINT in AI, nothing is listed, and the program immediately goes to
"Not responding" status,at which point the only thing I can do is close the program with Windows task manager.
    What is going on here?

In the Print preset line it says "[Default]", and nothing more. In the Printers line there is nothing listed.
As soon as I attempt to do anything, the program stops, and goes to "Not responding". At that point the program can only be terminated using Windows task manager. It is useless at this point.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus - By passing expired Color Cartridges to print only in Black printing.

    Hi,
    Problem:
fIt seems that this model of printer has a built in protocol which makes the printer inoperable if any of the colour cartridges are past their expiry date. Attempts to print solely in black are also being prevented because of this.
Does anybody know how permit black printing only without the need to replace colour cartridges rarely used.
Apple Mac PCs and laptops are connected to the printer wirelessly.
I look forward to any info which rids me of this frustrating problem.

Hello popkc, and welcome to the HP Forums.
I see you are looking into ink options.  Due to the design of the printer, it does require functional ink as to not cause damage to the print system.  There is no way to override this.

  • 10.4.8 and HP Printer conflict

I'd like to report a big, honking, piece of worthless equipment in my closet... My HP Color Laserjet 4500 was rendered inoperable after the recent update to OS 10.4.8. I called HP but they couldn't help me. It is clearly a driver/system conflict. The latest driver on the HP site was released last April. I tried Gutenprint, but it doesn't work either. The printer prints blank sheet after blank sheet and won't stop till I unplug it. Any ideas??
    Thanks,
    Shari

OK...every time I rage at Apple, it turns out that there was a way out after all. This time, I went to the HP website, found the Knowledge Base (or whatever their's is called) document that walked me through the steps whenever "your printer is printing multiple blank documents."
I believe the mechanical shutter for the printing drum was stuck. I did a number of things to the printer, among them was tweaking the shutter by hand. Anyway, after following the steps and then reinstalling the printer software. Restarting. All is well in my world between my Macs and my 7 year old HP 4500n Color Laser Printer.
I hope everyone else has the same good fortune.
    Thanks.

  • Lost 5750 All In One Disk.. Update Made Unit Inoperable

Hello. I have an old 5750 all in one. I run Vista home on my laptop that interfaces with the unit. Whenver hp wants to update the "Solution Center" software already loaded on my laptop, it requires the original CD. I dont have it anymore. I tried to click cancel and now the unit is completely inoperable. Not sure why it needs the CD. Its already loaded and very annoying that it requires it every time an update pops up on me. I wish it was somewhere online like everything else in this digital age, but I cannot find it anywhere.
Secondly, the unit has an error regarding a color print cartidge not being installed. I dont print color and never will with this device. I tried to clear the error message on the 5750, but can't. How do I clear that message?
Other than those two annoyances, it works fine. Thanks for your help.

    Hey @garymarchlewicz ,
Thanks a lot for the question, now lets get you an answer!
If you all HP Technical Phone Support or go online to HP Out of Warranty Support you can order a replacement CD.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
HP software drivers are available on hp.com under "Support" and "Drivers and Downloads".
And you have to have all cartridges in the printer and they all need to have ink in them for maintenance reasons. So there are a few things that I have to let you know. No printer, HP or not can print only black that is an InkJet. The reason for this is because many people would print only black with their multi-colour printers and the ink wells for the coloured cartridges would dry out and never be usable. So whether you select black only or greyscale you are still going to be printing some colour in those printouts so that the printer will be able to print colour when you need it to.
If using ONLY black was what you were trying to get the instructions for, unfortunately that is not possible. If you want to print ONLY black i recommend looking into laser black only printers that are multi-function, black only printers. They don't use ink they using toner power cartridges that last a very long time but are more expensive. We have those options in our HP LaserJet line.
Hope this helps. Have a great day!
    I worked for HP.

  • Scanning error message, prints fine

I kept getting this error while trying to scan a document for the first time.
"An error occurred while communicating with the device. Please check that the device is properly connected and powered on."
To ensure the printer is connected I printed a pdf on file on the computer and that was successful.
I have installed from the CD given, and I have intalled software from the HP site that was brought up for my specific operating system OS X 10.9.  I have checked my firewall and allowed it to be open for sharing printers.  I have restarted my wifi network from the modem, I have restarted the computer, and I have restarted the printer.  I have reset my printers and reselected this printer...which is the only printer that was available to be selected.  The computer recognizes the printer fully, however it just keeps giving me the message quoted above for scanning.
    Please help.
    This question was solved.

Thanks for replying. I ended up calling customer service and after 1.5 hours we determined the printer was broken. It could not copy either, in fact the interior scanner was inoperable.
I returned it to the store because HP never called me back for a new printer to be sent. SO glad they didn't call me back. I went back to Walmart and bought UP. We have an Envy now and it is AWESOME!!!

I'm having all kinds of problems since loading Lion and I really wish I hadn't bought it yet. Even after the software update today, 1. my modem still won't work, 2. Photoshop Elements produces muddy photo prints, 3. View preferences in windows don't hold,  etc.  Anybody at Apple listening?  Anybody else out there having these kinds of problems?

10.7 was horrible unstable so I waited until 10.7.1 and tried it again. Well I have to say that it is still a defective OS. I am reverting to Snow as we speak from my carbon clone copy.. This is really the worst OSX I have ever used. It gives me random Kernel panics for no reasons, unstable airport and hundreds of small issues that are just not necessary. For instance I can't use QuickTime in Lion to trim a videoclip ( the UI goes mad and the trimslider becomes inoperable and hangs the Player window ) while in Snow it is no problem. Itunes gives me crackling sound when the equalizer is turned on, Graphical glitches in Photoshop, games crashing, Preview.app not working with some pdfs, so I need Adobes reader which I never used before.. It is definately not ripe for mass usage. Might 10.7.2 or 10.7.3 fix it, but not yet.
    * and just for the records : the hardware is absoltely ok. Because in Snow it works as it should. ( So many Lion fanbois are talking : "your Ram is defect", defintely NOT. - Lion is defect! ).
    Shame on you Apple.

  • Epson R1800 Unable to Print Borderless 4x6

Maybe this is too simple a task for this printer, but after updating to the Snow Leopard drivers I can't get a borderless 4x6 out of the printer. It is printing with a border and cutting off the image. Should this be that difficult? I am using epson 4x6 photo stock. I tried printing a calibration sheet and it was useless as it was cut off like the photos.
Is this a hardware problem or is it just that difficult to print with Aperture? I seem to always have a problem with this program when it comes to printing.

    Hi again,
There is no difference between 2 x 3 and 4 x 6 -- it is the same crop, and when the driver and printer properly cooperate, it works perfectly from Aperture. Such is the case with my R1900. I hardly ever print from iPhoto, so I cannot say if there is a problem yet to be corrected with SL or not. There certainly is no problem printing from Photoshop, but I just don't like to do that with images that are archived in Aperture.
To get your full image printed borderless from any app, and not lose detain from the edge, you must be able to use the Expansion setting to minimize the expansion that the drivers otherwise provide to assure proper bleed over on the edge. In my one Epson that does not work properly from Aperture, it is clear that the Expansion function is inoperable, but when printing from Photoshop it is.

  • Snow Leopard causing Printer & Excel crashes PLEASE HELP!

Original install from 10.5.8 to 10.6.0 - now at 10.6.1.
The first install the system was freezing up and I couldn't get the printer to work. Internet was intermittent and slow as was the whole system and couldn't get Quicktime to work. Then the system hung up at the log in screen and went into a loop back to the log in screen effectively making the Mac Pro inoperable.
I wiped the computer and re-loaded Snow Leopard and used a Time Machine back-up to get everything back. Everything I opened worked fine (including the printer). I had to re-install Office:mac 2008 and then the problems started.
1.The printer would crash on anything I tried to print on any app, and the System Preference panel for printers would crash every time I tried to open it. I tried downloading the fix for HP Photosmart 3180 C All-In-One printer and got to a certain point and a warning resulted:
"/system/library/extensions/pulsedriver.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. Get update from HP" ????
    2. Excel will open about 5 workbooks with no data and the beach ball spins until it crashes.
A complete wipe and re-install of Office did not fix it.
I also fixed the permissions on my HD and repaired the disk and this did not help.
Is there anything I can do to fix these two areas without wiping the HD and starting from scratch?
The printer started to crash AFTER I installed Office:mac 2008. but wiping the program off the HD did not fix the printer.
    Please Help !!!

I finished validating the fonts and used YUSA to clean up the caches but to no avail. I will look at an uninstall for the print driver and see what that does. My problem is that I can't even get into the print preferences because it fails to open.
Though I agree with you on Office being a very stable program. I am not able to get Excel to open up... It starts up and opens the last 5 spreadsheets that were previously opened before the problem started. The sheet shell is there for all 5 workbooks but there is no data and nothing but a beach ball bouncing around. Summer is over and I am sick of playing with the beach ball LOL
By the way - what All in one printer would you recommend for Mac. The HP printers I have are from my days when I used a (yuk) PC.
Also, I have two other Macs - a 15 Macbook Pro and a recently purchased 17 Macbook Pro - I have not installed Snow Leopard on either one and probably will not based on all the issues I am having with my tower. they run great right now and no problems with Office or the HP printers.

  • Sales Order reason for rejection still prints on BA00 ?

I have a Sales Order where I have rejected one or more items.
I have configured the reason for rejection to not print, but on Sales Order output BA00 the item will display as
    Item number
No Price (and it's price is not included in the totals)
Item rejected ** text under the line display
I don't want the item to print at all. If I've rejected it, why would I want to see that on an order confirmation?
P.S. I beleive it acts the same way on the RD00 invoice output, but our abaper's currently have that part in an inoperable state for other reasons.
Is this standard config to act this way ?
    Thanks in advance
    Bill

This is the standard config to supress printing on the rejected item. Are you using standard programs or customised ?

  • Dark Prints from Aperture

Over several years, many of us have had problems getting prints which show the colours we see on our screens. The problem has been particularly bad with Aperture, over all its versions, and has not been resolved by screen brightness adjustments, screen calibration, or adjustments before printing in the Aperture "Print" window. Many sheets of expensive print paper have been wasted.
I recently bought an Epson 3880 printer, and found this problem with other printing software, as well as with Aperture - the colours where just not right. Even when I calibrated my new printer with the paper I use, using SpyderPrint Pro, the colours were not what I hoped for; this has usually worked before, producing print profiles which allowed the production of perfectly satisfactory prints on my old Epson 1290. But not with the new printer.
So I copied the SpyderPRINT calibration charts into Aperture, printed them from Aperturte with no 'corrections', using the standard Epson settings in the Apple "Print" window, and read the colours from these prints with the SpyderPRINT spectrophotometer.  The colorsynch profiles so obtained produced perfect prints. I have repeated this with my other print software, and with my other papers, and the results are so much better I felt I had to broadcast the approach - there are many out there, struggling to get what they want, and wasting lots of time and paper in the process.
So the answer is ; buy a printer calibration tool, print the calibration images out of the offending software, use these prints to obtain a software-related printing profile and all will be well.

When you select "Print" in Aperture, you get an Aperture print window with the option to select a printing profile, or to leave it "printer managed", the LATTER BEING THE DEFAULT; leave it there.
When you click on "Print" in that window, the Apple print window opens. The second option below the number of prints choice, "Clor Matching" is another place where printing profile choices can be made; to print the colour chart which is to be scanned, you choose the Epson colour controls.
With these choices you are at default level on the profile scale, and you insert the profile thus created either in the Aperture "Print" window, in which case this "Color Matching" option in the Apple "Print" window is greyed out and inoperable, or you can insert the new profile in the Colorsynch option of the"Color Matching" option of Apple "Print" window.
I hope this clarifies your question.

  • ICal printer dialogue menu crashes

When I try to print my iCal calendar over my network printers (a GIMP LaserJet 4 and a Brother All-in-one with built in network server), the print option window freezes, There is no calendar in the preview pane, the "continue" button is grayed out, I can't choose from any of the toggle options in the window, and the cancel button is inoperative. iCal continues to function properly however. What is the problem?

    You are welcome, Laura.
I was hoping it was not that.
Maybe you should hope it is: it could be something worse.
I hope you will report your findings.

Windows 8.1. I have checked the printer spooler service it is configured correctly as far as I can tell. Set to start automatically, restart on the first and second failure. The dependencies look ok.

Every time I reboot I get the same printers in 'devices and printers' even though I have removed them. Also there is one printer that will not be removed. If I try and then hover the mouse cursor over the printer icon, the tool tips displayed are
    "Remove failed"
    "Driver does not exist"
Ok. I don't give a stuff about the missing driver, I just want to remove it. Why  does a missing driver prevent me from removing a printer. I though that if the driver was missing it would indicate that the printer is inoperable and make removing it
    even easier.
How on earth does one get around this embargo. How does one get rid of dud printers from the control panel applet?
I am sure that these remnant printers are causing the print spooler service to keep crashing.

  • Address Book and Label Printing

I've been trying to do this and have run into a sea of problems/bugs.
A lot come to light after switching back and forth between the Layout and Label tabs. This seems to render the preview window inoperative. For example, after choosing print from the file menu then clicking Layout then clicking Label in the Print Dialog Box:
    1) changing font is not reflected in preview pane
    2) clicking "country" check box is not reflected in preview pane
    3) zoom control does nothing
    4) changing label type does not update preview pane
After printing and then trying to print a second time, I notice that some setting are not saved. For example, the Country, if it was checked, has reverted back to being not checked and the font has reverted to Lucida Grande 12. More importantly, the label type reverts back to the default 5161, but only after every second print. (ie choose print from file menu set label type to 2163, print, select print from file menu: label type is 2163, print, select print from file menu again and label type has now reverted to 5161
When selecting a different Label from the layout menu, ie Avery 2163 Top, the Preview Pane is only partially updated. The addresses are relocated on the page but a full 8 1/2X11 page is still shown. if I cancel the Print and return, the preview page size has been resized to reflect the smaller label size.
I've also a great deal of difficulty getting Address Book to print correctly on Avery 2163 labels. These labels are 2" wide and the program seems to want to print on 8 1/2 inch wide paper. As a result, only the left hand portions of the address appear on the label, and even that is not properly spaced vertically to appear correctly within each label. I was able to get it to print correctly only when I selected "Scale to Fit Paper" in the Paper Handling Section
These problems don't seem isolated to my machine (A PowerPC G5). I was able to replicate on an intel imac.
Has anyone else had problems printing labels?

Warren: looking at other threads out there it doesn't appear that you can print the spouse/partner/friend field. One poster suggested using Avery DesignPro for Mac, which merges with your AddressBook, and allows you to select which fields to include.  The only caveat is that it doesn't show it working with Lion (os 10.7).  You can download it here:

    Hope this helps.
