Insert query in a workbook -BEx 7.0

I have a workbook with one query in it, and I would like to insert one more query in a seperate worksheet. In BEx 3.x I did it simple with the command "Insert Query", but here I cannot find a command that insert the query with the data area and filters and Information etc.
Thanks

Hi shmuel cooper,
The only way I know is to use the new toolbar from BI 7 analyser called the design toolbar.
With that you have to insert a table, a filter area, information, and assign it all to a DP_X (DataProvider - meaning query) one by one.

  • Inserting Query;s in Workbook in BI 7

    Hi,
I want to insert two query's in a workbook in two seprate sheets. We are using BI 7.0
I have no idea to achieve the same, please provide me steps for doing the same.
    Thanks
    Dipika

    Hi Dipika,
Just insert one more sheet in the excel.
Use the design tool box and insert new analysis grid and navigation panes etc in the new sheet.
Assign dataproviders(your query or view) for the same.
    Save workbook.
When you inserted the analysis grid and navigation pane in your second sheet.
In design mode go to analysis grid and navigation pane.
    Right click -
    >propeties.
Here you have option to create new data provider(create button) create a new one say DP_2 and assign your second query to this.
    Hope this Helps,

  • Insert Query into a Workbook

    Hi matez,
I often travel within different locations here in Australia.
Usually, I create BEx queries for one customer and export that as a workbook.
So, when I come back to my HQ, I cannot access the query which was embedded in the workbook.
Is there a way, where I can retrieve the "QUERY" out of a workbook on a different BW system ? I don`t need to execute the query, just would like to see the structure of the query.
      Please advice

    Hi John,
As Bhanu says, you will not be able to use the GUI to view the query.  But, if you know how to read the tables in the hidden worksheets, you can still determine what characteristics and key figures were in the query and how they were drilled / displayed.
Here is link to a posting that explains (briefly) how to interpret what you will find there:
    Re: supress variable-entry-window (SAP-Exit)
One thing you might want to do while still in the field, with the query active on its native server, is to run the SAPBEXdebugPrint routine.
Here is a link explaining this function:

  • How to insert Query View into a WorkBook

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to  insert a Query View into a workbook template . I know about how to insert Query into a workbook template but I am not aware of how to insert a Query view. Please help me in this regards.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bala B...

In ur analyzer u will get the design toolbar. Like u did for inserting query into workbook , same procedure u need to follow here-only difference being instead of query u select ur query view, while creating data provider.
    Steps:
Goto design mode, b selecting 'design mode icon' in analyzer toolbar.
Double click on 'analysis grid' icon from ur analyzer toolbar.
    In that create DP(data provider).
In that give a name for DP and select your query view in that screen.
    Hope it helps.
    let me know any issues

  • Insert query in BEx 7.0?

In BEx 3.5 there is a menu item to "Insert Query" into an excel workbook tab.  How do we do that in 7.0?
    Thanks,

    Hi Geoff,
You can achive this in BEX ANalyzer 7.0 . Please follow below steps.
    1. Open your query in Bex anlayzer.
    2. In the tool bar , there is a button Design Mode. Once you click on that it would open in design  mode.
    3. Goto Worksheet 2 or you can insert in same worksheet as well. select a Cell and in the toolbar you can find Analysis Grid Button. Insert Analysis grid into that cell.
    4. Right click on analysis grid and assign Query to that.
In this way you can embed multiple queries.
Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Insert Query in workbook

    Hi
Can anyone of you please give me some information or any links explaning step by step procedure on:
    1. How to copy a query
    2. How to insert query in Workbook
    Many Thanks

    Hello,
    1. How to copy a query
Open the Query Designer and choose edit of the query then choose "Save as". This will copy your query. You can also use transaction RSZC to copy queries between different InfoProviders if possible
    2. How to insert query in Workbook
Just open the workbook, go to the place you want and click on the option Tools->Insert query (with BW 3.x); With BI 7, just open your workbook, choose a place you want to insert the query and click on the table button, then you have to assign that table to a dataprovider (a query)

  • Inserting query in workbook

    Hi,
Does anyone know the Function Module/program that inserts a query in a workbook? (table RSRWORKBOOK)
    Thanks in adv.

thanks for your rep. My situation is, im am migrating queries/workbooks from system x to system z. queries are moved using a custom program (query BAPI's) Queries are created with new GUID's, hense, the workbook/query relationship is lost. So I need to reestablish the relationship programatically if possible....

  • Display special characters in Workbook / BEx-Query

    Hello,
Actually we have the problem to display special characters of the customer number-descriptions in workbooks / BEx-Queries. In the text-table of 0CUST_SALES (/BI0/TCUST_SALES) we can see the special characters in the descriptions for example for Polish names (here: OBI WROCŁAW). But in the reports the special character "Ł" is replaced by "#".
The InfoObjekt is marked as non-language dependent.
In the backend we are already working with BI 7.0. At the front-end-side we are still using the 3.x-toolkit.
    Does anybody have an idea?
    Kind regards
    Daniel

I had this problem with Thai characters.
You need to have a Windows configured with polish chars to see them, I fear.

  • Tools | Insert Query no longer supported with SAPBEX 7.0 ?

    Hi
With SAPBEX for BW 3.5 we could use Tools | Insert Query ... in individual worksheets and then save this as a workbook.
Now for BW 7.0, the SAPBEX does not seem to be able to do this and the end-user must "paint" the query by inserting a navigation area, filter block and results area into the sheet and then bind these objects to an infoprovider.
My users will struggle with this new method - has the Insert function been removed or is it hiding somewhere ?
    regards
    Ian MacLaren

    Hi,
it's very borring to re-design a query for each sheet...
So there is an helpful option :
    1) Open Bex Analyser
    2) Open your query
    3) DIsplay the Navigation pane (thanks to the button filter)
    4) In the navigation pane, right click on a caracteristic that is not display in your analysis grid yet
    5) choose the last option "Drill <name of the caracteristic> Across Sheets"
    6) It will duplicate the query for each value of the caracteristic, in a individual sheet for each value.
(so... choose a caracteristic with less than 10 values)
    7) now you've got several sheets but no data.
    8) Refresh the workbook
Now, you've got a workbook with several sheet with the same design.
You just have to go in conception mode and change the dataprovider of the different object into each sheet.
N.B : The button chart, filter, information doesn't work for news sheet...
you will have to develop VBA macro or just use Excel function : Data > Group and Outline > Group... in order to hide and unhide lines and column quickly.
    Hope it's help
    Don't forget point.

  • Call BEX-Query from VBA with BEX-automatic login?

    Hi,
I'm trying to call a query from VBA. I have two problems/questions:
    1. Automatic login?
I want to do an automatic login. I found this peace of code here, but I get an error:
    Public Function  LogonToYourBW()
    ' create Logon & RFC-Handle
logonToBW = False ‘ clear connect Flag the flag can be used to find out if connected or not
'load SAP functionality by opening BEX file ( use your installation path)
            Workbooks.Open (“c:\sappc\bw\sapbex.xla”)
With Run("sapbex.xla!sapbexGetConnection") ‘ call the connection
' Set the params for Auto logon
           .client = “YOUR CLIENT NO”
           .user = “YOUR BW USER”
.Password = “YOUR BW PWD” ‘ I recommend to create a dummy reporting user for this task
.Language = “YOUR LANGUAGE YOU LIKE TO USE FOR QUERY DISPLAY ( i.E.  “EN”)”
.SystemNumber = “YOUR SYSTEM NO” ‘
.ApplicationServer = “YOUR SERVER Name OR IP-ADDRESS”
.UseSAPLOgonIni = FALSE 'important for automatic connection
.logon 0, True ‘ This will provide a dialog to appear
            If .IsConnected <> 1 Then
                .logon 0, False
If .IsConnected <> 1 Then Exit Function
            Else
                Set g_oFunction = CreateObject("SAP.Functions")
                Set g_oFunction.Connection = g_oConnection
            End If
        End With
Run "sapbex.xla!sapbexinitConnection" ‘ this will enable the connection you just created
        logonToBW = True
    End Function
The error is by this row:
    Set g_oFunction.Connection = g_oConnection
Object is needed! How is the g_oConnection-object defined?
    2. How can I pass values for the parameters from VBA?
If I open the query usually from SAP-BEX-Toolbar, after selecting the query, I get a parameter mask, where I must put in a value. How can I this automatize from VBA? Has anybody a short samplecode for that?
    Thank you for your help

    Peter and others:
What I really want to do … is write a stand-alone application that I can run from windows scheduler … that queries our BW for sales data for certain items (in a tabular form) … and pulls that data into a VB recordset, or a .NET dataset … so that I can insert the rows into another database (SQL Server, or Access) … I already know how to do all the data movement to/from datasets and databases … I just cannot figure out how to programmatically grab this sales data from BW … our company has “workbooks” already set up that aggregate WW sales information by region (IE, there is a separate workbook for each region of the world) … I can manually go into the Excel interface, tell it which items to pull the sales info for, and it dumps the data into the worksheet (organized by customer, and then by cat #) …
So, what I’d like to do is write an app that will pull data every week or so from the BW (from each region’s sales invoice detail “workbook”), and insert it into another database that we use for reporting other, non-sales, data.
Thoughts on this ?  Is there another, non-BEx method that is better ?
    thanks !!

  • Not able to replace new query in old workbook

    Hi All,
I am having a workbook on a query which was developed long back, due to few changes i created new query and now i want to replace that query in old workbook which it is not allowing also tried to create new workbook with new query but when i run workbook it shows no applicable data found ,when i run query the data is coming.
I need all your suggestion on this
    Regards
    Deva

    Hi Dev,
Open your Workbook and Go to the Sheet in which the desired query (to be removed) is embedded.
In the "BEx Toolbar" 3rd Last Icon if you place cursor on  it it will say "Tools" > Click on Tools and you will see an Option "Remove Query" or if you want to remove All queries from Work book there is another option Tools> All Queries in Workbook --> Detach.
This will remove the Query from Workbook.
Then in same Tools--> you can see Insert Query click on it and point (select) your new Query.
This will insert the new query in Workbook.
    Save the Workbook.
Hope this will resolve your issue.
Do post back if you face any probs.
    Thanks

Hoping you have goodday, please let me know how to create workbook
and how to map query data to it.
    Thanks
    Chandan Kumar

    Hello,
Execute a BEx Query and in the BEx toolbar you can see SAVE button, click that as select SAVE as Workbook.
If you want to insert more queries then first place the cursor where you want to insert the query, then Goto BEX toolbar, Select the Tool Icon and you can see a menu called Insert Query.
    Thanks
