Insipre 5700 Audigy2

Hi there. I've been having a strange occurance with my Audigy 2 and Inspire 5700 5.1 Digital speakers since the last driver patch. When I try to play a DVD my system sound ceases The only way to restore sound at all, is to set the Inspire to "Analog" settings (where I can get 4 channel sound). The strange part is that after the system has been shut down for several hours, and rebooted, the Dgital line will (occasionally) work fine until a DVD Video is tried again. I have:
removed the IntervideoDVD player I was using (thinking it was a corrupted Codec).
Uninstalled the Audigy2 and reinstalled in a different PCI slot.
re-dowloaded the driver package and reinstalled
Tested the SPDIF input of the Inspire 5700 against a Live! 5.1 SPDIF output (with the same patch cord) and found it working.
ensured all connections are correct and snug.
Win XP Pro OS with all SP/Udpates installed.
I still find I'm losing Digital output. Audigy 2 Driver version: 5.2.4.96 Date: /08/2006 Any suggestions would be appreciated. Is there any simple?way to test the Digital DIN output of the Audigy2 itself? Thanks!

Hi Pandur2000 (sorry for my english, i am spanish)
I have 5700 and with my old live 5.1 spontaneously mini din don't work and next day works fine ?
I think is problem with cable and digital din input in decoder, try to clean connectors

As in topic: My Rear speakers in digital mode over MiniDin are not working. Why?
They are working with optical/coax on DVD Player / 5.1 source and in CMSS/DolbyPrologic mode. Only Fourpoint 5.1 DIN is not working on rear speakers..

  • Optimal configuration for inspire 5700

I juz bought a inspire 5700 and a audigy 2 ZS. Currently i am using the digital connection through the Digital Din input on the decoder from the Digital out of the soundcard. However, when i m playing mp3, only the centre and front speakers are working, the rear speakers are only playing some background music. When i m using the DTT 2200 speakers before this, all my 4 satellites are playing loud and clear. When i try to use analog connection (green and black) on my inspire 5700, no sound is coming out from the speaker. I wonder y. I already disable the digital out from the speaker setting. Is anyone using this speaker and can u advice me on how to configure the speakers and soundcard to achieve good quality sound? Thanx alot.

otarboy wrote:Ok i have tried setting the CMSS to stereo surround. However, i dun feel much difference from the CMSS2 or CMSS setting. The rear speakers are producing muffled sounds of the songs unlike the front speakers which are very clear in the singing. Also i tried to play mp3 songs using analog connection and the result is almost like digital output. When i was using the DTT 2200, all four speakers sounded equally clear since they are analog output but how come the analog output of Inspire 5700 is so different? I have already turn up the surround volume till 3/4 max and yet i cant feel the surround of music. So if i dun watch dvd on my pc, does that mean the Inspire 5700 is performing worse than my old DTT 2200?
Hey budd I use my CMSS3D settings too but I leave them set on stero surround and use InterVideo WinDVD6 Platinum Edition ver.B06.083 and don't use Creative Mediasource DVD-Audio Player ver..50.08 cause with that version sounds like there is static on the cd and complicating playback on the cd but thats a bug in creative software but to my knowlage anything in there previous ver. works well off but with InterVideo WinDVD6 PE software of mine they give me settings with it called audio booster pack and I can give my back speakers a Boost of +25 and I can hear well off then with that and does wanders on my DVD'S as well with DVD audio.
PowerDVD I don't like because of conflicts with creative drivers but I don't care for that cause InterVideo software is much better IMO
P.S. you don't have to worry about changing the settings in CMSS3D after you set it to stereo surround because DVD software has no affects with that CMSS3D or atleast to my ears they don't but you could have super sonic ears too hehe... but the settings do take affect in reguler Windows Media Player and Creative Mediasource and other media players out there
Also for your digital audio yes it must be recorded in 3D audio or it will not work right and with analog it would just upmix it unless you want to try on your digital to upmix it by the remote on the speaker settings of yours hardware wise and see if that don't help?
but also digital helps RIAA out in copyright protection of course there are ways around that too but I am not pramoting anything illegal so I will leave that subject alone for you all thinkers out there
after listening to the included dvd-audio disk that comes with Creative Soundblaster audigy2 zs gamer LE card through InterVideo WinDVD6 Platinum ED you can tell a kickass diffrence I mean it's the type that gives ya goosebumps cause you love hearing waht you hear coming from your speakers hehe..... at least try the demo and if ya love the demo get with me at [email protected] and I may share ya a full retail version for just being a helpfull person that I am
Good Luck both ways buddy give it a try you will love it

  • Replacement for Inspire 5700 + Creative Audigy Platinum

    Hi,
for many years I have been using a combination of a Creative Audigy Platinum soundcard with a Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700 speaker system. I am very pleased with the quality, compatibility and easy-to-useness of this system. For games and music, I let the soundcard do the decoding and send the bits via digital connection to the Inspire system, which I set to 5.1 DIN. For DVDs, I send everything via SPDIF and let the Inspire do the decoding, either DTS or Dolby digital. Works just perfectly.
Only problem: if everything works according to the plan, I will move from Europe to the States in two months and stay there for - 3 years. Because desktop computers and probably also my Inspire 5700 system are quite tricky to ship, I decided to buy a laptop here and buy another speaker system by creative after I have a arrived in the states. Full of anticipation I checked this site to choose my future system and ... was struck by shock:
I couldn't find any system which offered the same features as the Digital 5700! All modern systems lack digital input, leave alone an external decoder and have primitive wire-remotes instead of real remotes! Why has this kind of great system disappeared? Of course you cannot buy the good old 5700 anymore, which leaves me with a great problem of how to organize a system which offers similar quality and features.
I originally planned to connect my laptop (ASUS A8JS) via S/PDIF to the new inspire 5.1 speaker set, which would then do the job of decoding digital audiostreams coming from DVDs. But well, since the new Inspire sets neither support S/PDIF nor offer external decoding, that idea has been flushed down the toilet
What do you recommend instead? I guess I will need a USB Sound Blaster in combo with an inspire speaker set. What will provide the same quality to what I had? What are the drawbacks of not having digital connections any more? How can I control sound levels of the subwoofer, center and rearspeakers, if there is no external decoder anymore? Only via software?
Thank you very much for any advice!

Thank you very much for your helpful replies! Future looks much brighter now
Where have you found the Audigy 2 NX? On their webpage, creative only list the USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor or the Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit External as USB-solutions. Since I don't need the video editing capability, the Audigy 2 ZS would probably be quite an overkill. Still, the price difference between Audigy ($250) and Life! ($50) is ... drastic! Besides the video stuff and some connections, what else is the Life! solution missing? Does it have poor quality? Is there no real 3D sound, just some kind of upmixing? It's not very clear from the specifications.
The Logitech Z-5500 Digital looks very promising, too. A consequent improvement of the Inspire D-5700, just by the competition I may go for that one, but probably still need an external soundcard for 3D-sound in games.
I am not exactly an expert considering connections. So, my laptop will already have digital S/PDIF built into the headphone plug. Just from the look, I'd say this is the same kind of plug which is called "Analog/Digital-Out" on my old Audigy sound card. Now, the logitech system supports digital optical or digital coaxial as source input. Will this work with the S/PDIF headphone out, or would it require the DIN connection you mentionned? Could this be easily solved by buying an adaptor?
Looking at the picture showing the connections of the SB Life! I again am not clear at all what kind of connections there are (http://us.creative.com/products/prod...Specifications ). Is there anything compatible with the Logitech system? I guess it's no question the Audigy2 ZS is equipped with the required connections.
So, to summarize my question: could I digitally connect either my laptop or the SB Live! 24-bit external with the Logitech Z-5500, so that the latter would take care of decoding Dolby Digital and DTS sound, while the sound blaster would provide EAX and 3D sound for games?
I have also seen that Creative Labs still offers an external decoder with a lot of connection possibilities. It's just no longer part of a speaker system, but rather a standalone product: the Creative Decoder DDTS-100 for $30. Together with a good speaker system, this may be an alternative to the logitech solution, in terms of enabling to plug in other devices than just a computer (another thing I really loved about my old system).
Well, again thank you very much for your advice!

  • Creative Digital 5700 Inspire 5.1

For years, I used speakers with my desktop that had a Creative Audigy2 Soundcard, via the Digital DIN connection.
Recently I switched to a laptop. Laptop has a 3.5 mm SPDIF output. I connected the SPDIF output to a 3.5mm male-to-RCA female adapter, then an RCA-to-RCA cable to the coaxial input of the Digital 5700.
However, I don't get any sound from the speakers.
any idea? is my setup wrong? how can i get any sound from the laptop to the speakers?thanks in advance.

Please check your speaker manuals first if you still have them. I don't think you will be able to feed your speaker with digital connection from your notebook. This is the reason :
    1. Your notebook have a standard SPDIF connection, it's a industrial standard which work with every standard A/V receiver or decoder.
    2. Your speaker (Creative Digital 5700 Inspire 5.1) have a DIGITAL DIN in, not a standard DIGITAL SPDIF in. DIGITAL DIN is a propietary connection, so it only works Creative sound card that have DIGITAL DIN out (your audigy 2 for example). Creative is notorious with it's DIGITAL DIN which only works between their own sound cards and speakers. (be careful, audigy2 nx and X-Fi have a standard DIGITAL SPDIF, unlike the rest of their comrades)
There is no way you can make the speaker work with your notebook, except you know how to hard mod it.
Creative team, please correct me if i am wrong.

  • DVD-Audio and "can not detect sound blaster card" with Audigy2 Va

I recently purchased an "Audigy2 Value" card from an eBay user, because I recently purchased some DVD-Audio discs. I downloaded the Audigy2 drivers from the website, and the Creative MediaSource player. 5. Surround sound worked fine for me, though sometimes the driver would reset to the default 2/2. sound and I would have to re-select 5. sound, which was annoying.
Then I was completely unable to get the MediaSource player to recognise my DVD-Audio discs, and the EAX functionality of the player would never work. The EAX logo never appeared in the player. When I tried installing the MediaSource player from an install disc, I got the message "can not detect sound blaster card". Then I discovered the world of EEPROM problems.
I followed advice from some other threads, including using ScanPCI to get information on the card, which yielded the following result.
When installed on my machine (Asus A7A266 motherboard) the ScanPCI reads:

(Just a note: above you can clearly see that it does not say I have an Audigy, it thinks it is a SBLi've. Is this normal? The card IS an Audigy 2, it says so on the card.)
So, I put the card back on my own PC, thinking this has fixed my EEPROM, but I get the same as before. Subsystem ID 0002h. And of course the install software will not detect the card.
I realise that I could go back to using the web drivers, but this still leaves me with MediaSource not recognising the card and not enabling DVD-Audio or EAX, which is why I bought the card in the first place!
I have heard that the VIA chipset is possibly to blame for the EEPROM problems on the Audigy cards, and certainly it seems like it is not permanent, since it gave different information on the other PC. So now I am seriously considering getting a new motherboard.
Do other motherboards cause this same problem? I don't want to buy another board and get the same trouble. All I want is to be able to install my MediaSource and have it recognise my card so I can listen to my DVD-Audio discs.
    Cheers,
    Russ.

Figured out my problem. Installing the drivers from the web to begin with was a bad idea. They just did not work properly with the card.
The "card not found" problem has gone as well, after installing it in another PC. I am also using the proper install disc now, as the other one I was using turned out to not be for the Audigy 2 value after all, but was an Audigy 2 install disc. That easily explains the "Card not found" error. The differing results from the ScanPCI program are still bizarre, though.
Thanks to all of the people on the forum who posted information in other threads to help me deal with this issue. For now I am sticking with the original drivers from the disc and I am not upgrading.

  • Can not activate EAX and SVM Support in Media Source Organizer with Audigy2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please there must be somebody out there able to me!Ive got an Audigy2 SB0240 (driver: SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe)? and Media Source (CMS_PCAPP_LB_3_30_2.exe) Windows XP Pro SP2So after the CORRECT Installation and?Updates to the actuall securely workable Versions by Creative Auto Update the Media Source Player/Organizerit is not able to let me use EAX or SVM. The well known error message: "there is no audio device detected" appears after pressing Ctrl E.Each process of is own (Soundcard and all the Creative Softwarestuff) is working absolutely correct so far. Ive tryed driver cleansweeping, deinstalltion of all Creative stuff, even by Driver Cleaner Pro, Ived pulled the Soundcard out of the system during?deinstalltion and tryed any driver version (from CD and Internet)and Installation description procedures which I could find here at the forum, during the whole last days!?But there is no way. Is there someone, who knows what to do? I would be very happy if?it works. Thanks for your attention and help.

    TheDarkSide,
Actually what is happening is that MediaSource does not support the Audigy card. The EAX and SVM buttons require the EAX console and capabilities of the Audigy 2 or cards that were designed for MediaSource. The way that EAX was handled and implemented was changed between the Audigy and Audigy 2 and this is why MediaSource doesn't support the EAX capabilities of the Audigy directly. You can still modify the EAX settings from within EAX console for the Audigy but it isn't integrated into MediaSource like it is with Playcenter.

  • Audigy2 cracks during disk access with CMSS enab

Hi, I've got the problem with sound becoming cracky when I enable CMSS3D and the computers reads from my harddri'ves.
Without CMSS it is fine, there are no sound disortions at all.
I've tried disabling APIC (NOT ACPI!) in the BIOS (first installing the "ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) PC" driver
I've also tried changing the PCI Latency Timer in the BIOS to 64 from 32 which which improved the situation but did not get rid of it.
The reason I at all bring this up is that I was hoping that the new driver released by Creative would fix this issue but it did not:
"Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 and Audigy2 ZS Driver Update .84.55" released 2 May 05
The other drivers I have are the ones included on the install CD plus these from autoupdate:
    Creative DVD-Audio Player version .00.60
    Creative EAX Console version .00.54
    Creative MediaSource DVD-Audio Player v.00.82
Creative SoundFont Bank Manager Web Update ver .00.2
    Creative Speaker Settings version .00.56
    Creative Surround Mixer version 3.00.57
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS Driver Update released 29 Jul 04
The cracking gets worse when I update to the EAX4 drivers released by creative 29 Jul 04 (that is as opposed to running with only the drivers included on the install CD)
With the EAX4 drivers released 29 Jul 04 the CMSS3D v feature stopped working, only CMSS3D v2 worked. But when I now upgraded to the drivers released 2 May 05 both modes work again...
This is on a Windows 2000 Pro SP4 /w att updates as of 2005-05-20 installed
    A Epox 8RDA3+ with BIOS 07/29/2004 (latest)
AMD Mobile 45w Barton 2500+ @ 200x,5mhz (Problem is the same if I run at stock speed also)
3x 52mb sticks of RAM (the problem is the with only one stick...)
    ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 28mb
3com server NIC 3C980-TX (the two onboard mobo NIC's are disabled)
Audigy2 soundcard (onboard mobo sound is disabled)
2X Maxtor 20GB D740X FDB harddri'ves in RAID- (mirroring) via serial adapters to the onboard Silicon Image RAID controller
    x Maxtor DiamondMax9 PATA 200GB harddri've
Nexxus NX3000 300w PSU (most silent PSU according to www.silentpcreview.com which is important to me..)
nVidia Nforce v5.0 drivers without nVidia SW IDE driver (they have given me too much trouble in the past..)
    Silicon Image v.0.0.50 drivers
ATI Catalyst v5.5 drivers (the version without "Catalyst Control Center" that requires .NET)
This is a clean install of Win2K, I had the problem before the clean install also.
As I said I have no problem if I disable the CMSS, then all is well, my speakers are Cambridge Soundsworks DTT3500 5. via digital DIN cable.
All this is connected to an industrial Riello 6kW UPS to remove any concern of bad power, the system is properly grounded.
I do not have any strange BIOS settings, I do understand all BIOS settings and have them set to appropriate values.
My system is properly cooled, Alpha 8045 HSF for the CPU, Zalman ZM-80HP for the GFX card. Two Pabst input fans, then one output and one on the GFX card and one on the PSU.Message Edited by hanzzon on 05-20-2005 09:30 PM

Boot from an external system disk:
Format the external disk Mac OS Extended (journaled) running Disk Utility form the Recovery Partition.
(Boot then hold down Command and R simultaneously).
Install OS X onto that external disk.
Boot from that external disk (Boot then hold down Option).
Using the Finder drag as many folders as you can to the external disk.
As a last-ditch effort you can use recovery software to recover files the Finder will not copy.

  • MSI K8N Neo2 Plat. + Audigy2 woes

    Hi.
I'm getting the dreaded Machine Check Exception(0000009c) on my rig and it seems no amount of tinkering can get this combo to play nicely, and as I know there are quite a few more of you with the same problem out there(and a lot who DON'T have this problem) I thought it could be interesting to find out a bit more about this.
    My box:
    A64 3500+(newcastle)
    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
2x512Mb (Kingston HyperX PC3000...old stuff from my KT333-mobo)
    Audigy 2 (SB0240)
    HIS 9800Pro Ice-Q
+other stuff that  doesn't affect the problem
    Running WindowsXP SP2
I've tried diff bioses (1.2,1.3,1.4b1), I've tried tweaking the pci-latency of the audigy(raising from 32 in steps of 8 to 96) with powerstrip. Tried moving the card to all available pci-slots(the audigy is the ONLY pci-card in my rig, its just the audigy and my 9800 in its agp-slot).
Tried all different driver revs for the audigy, from the one on the included cd up to the latest. Tried changing that pci-clock setting in the bios(hidden setting), to no avail.
I've run memtest86+,windows memory diagnostics and prime95 as well as a few other diagnostic tools from the UBCD for hours on end without any problems whatsoever.(at first I was inclined to believe that the psu might have something to do with this, but I don't believe that anymore, the problem seems to happen to people no matter WHAT psu they use.)
    Facts:
    1. With the audigy2 in place my machine WILL freeze with the 0000009c-error sooner or later(might take hours, might happen in 5 minutes). It does however seem to be related to using the soundcard(just sitting in windows without using the soundcard for ANY sounds keeps the box alive a lot longer than playing BF1942 and using teamspeak)
    2. When I remove the Audigy2 from my system and use the on-board sound the lock-ups stop, no more machine check exceptions.(this isn't a solution, its a workaround)
    3. Some people have the same problem while other people seem to be able to use audigys in their machines.
My guess is that it might be related to what model/version of audigy one has, that earlier audigy/audigy2-cards wont work properly...
So, those of you that have the problem, what model/ver of audigy/audigy2 do you have?
    Mine is a SB0240.(random 0000009C-errors)

    Same card here Audigy2 (SB0240).
I don't remember the error message I got but it was something about a conflict with the nVidia RAID controller. It was right after updating the Creative drivers so I immediatly removed ALL Creative startup programs and services with msconfig. No more problems. It runs great. There is the occassional rare "burp" through the speakers but its no problem.
In "msconfig" uncheck the following under the "Startup" tab.
    CTCMSgo
    CTDVDDet
    CTHelper
    CTsysVol
    SBDrvDet
regsvr32 (no problem so far with unchecking this one. I noticed there's a copy of it in one of the Creative folders. regsvr32.exe is a command line program used to register and unregister object linking and embedding (OLE) controls such as dynamic-link library (DLL) or ActiveX Controls (OCX) files that are self-registerable. This may be necessary to troubleshoot some issues with Windows, Microsoft Internet Explorer, or other programs.
Attention the same filename is used by some spyware programs.)
In fact the only startups I've left running in msconfig are...
    nvraidservice
    NvCpl
    zlclient  (ZoneAlarm)
Next click the "Services" tab in msconfig - check "Hide All Microsoft Services" and uncheck "Creative Service for CD-Rom access".
I guess it should also be added that a couple of days ago my system became extremely sluggish and had difficulty starting up. There were a couple of BSOD's. Pressing on the back of the case near the PCI slots caused the lights to flicker. Uh-Oh! Apparently the Audigy2 card was a little loose in its slot. Reseating the card seems to have solved that problem.

  • At a loss: Audigy2 ZS Platinum & Klipsch DD5.1 connection prob

I have read many forums, posts, etc. related to SPDIF, optical and digital out connection between Audigy2 ZS Platinum and Klipsch DD5. decoder and can't find a solution to my problem. I would like to play MP3's stereo x2 or 5. through my DD5. connected to Klipsch Promedia 5. speakers, all I can get is front L and R with nothing coming from the rear speaker. I have tried each of the three digital outputs, I have set SPDIF passthrough, digital output only, 5. as well as 2/2. speaker settings, and have toggled Enable CMSS 3D in the EAX console, also have Prologic enabled on the DD5. with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions? When the Promedia's are connected to the analog connections on the Audigy2 they sound great, MP3's through all speakers with CMSS 3D enabled, but I am using the Klipsch DD5. connected to my T.V., DVD etc. as my home theatre and would like to connect my PC this way as well. I have tried 3.5mm splitter on the back of the speakers and connected to the Audigy2 as well as the DD5. but this seems to cause a significant hum, interference etc. Any ideas?

    Saku746,
What you are experiencing is normal for Digital connection such as coaxial/optical. You can get more information from the article at knowledgebase.

Check your speaker whether it support Dolby Pro Logic II or other upmix matrix. If it does, then you can enable that to provide matrix of 5. to the speaker.

  • Beta drivers for Audigy2

Well, the title says what I'm looking for, but here's my problem:
I had installed Quake4, and was playing fine. After I had finished the game, I went to update my drivers (finally,) and noticed that I was running my NX on generic windows drivers. I updated all the drivers, mediasource, etc... (along with some other housekeeping updates,) and I now can no longer open the game.
I've already eliminated the video card update as the problem, and I honestly don't know of a way to eliminate a bios update issue, however, I HIGHLY doubt that is the culprit. After some discussions in the quake disc. boards, I sence that there is a problem with the creative drivers. I have been told that most people are getting success by using the latest beta drivers, and I was linked to a file called "SBA2_PCDrvBeta_LB_2_08_0002.exe" However, when I try to run that file, I'm told that "Setup is unable to detect a supported device on your system..." As the title says Audigy2/ZS, Audigy 4, I'm thinking these are the wrong beta drivers for my device, but I can't find beta drivers for the Audigy2 NX USB
    Help? Thanks...

I have tried re-installing, that isn't working. I'm also hearing that people are having success when installing the OpenAL libs....
I've been trying to get this file: http://developer.creative.com/articl...&top=38&aid=46 however, whenever I try to d/l the file I time-out to a "page unavail." error... Is there some server error at creative? ...or, does anyone know of a mirror server?
The file I'm looking for is: OpenALwEAX.exe

  • Hp Officejet 5700 printer problem

Everything I print comes out small like 4x6 size on the printer. I have an HP Officejet 5700. It worked fined for last several months. Yesterday the problem started. So I went to HP website and download driver again, reinstalled and rebooted. Same thing. This happens with all applications, Mail or Word or even Preview. It looks fine on the screen. Any suggestions?

Try Reset Printing System, a menu choice in Printer Setup Utility above Quit.
You have a corrupted pref file somewhere, and this deletes and recreates them. You will have to Add the printer in Print & Fax/Printer Setup again.

  • Problem with Nokia 5700's audio adapter

I have recently updated my Nokia 5700's firmware with the newest version. But now I can't use my audio adapter(this thing: http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/7485/adapteryb4.jpg ) which is connected with the headphones. While I listened to music, I tried to press any of the music control buttons but they didn't work. I am sure it is not broken and the problem is from the firmware, because the adapter was perfectly working before the update. Does anyone have a solution?
    Thanks!

it's not bacause of the update you did. it's the damned thing itself. Main died several mounts ago. There's a problem with the battery inside the remote control. NOKIA you give all customers new ones through care centers.
