Inspiron 15 wireless disappears

Running Windows 8.1 (64) on Inspiron 15 (5537, mid-2013) laptop.  I'll start by saying that, to solve this problem, I've read the sticky on this forum, I've tried the windows-driven troubleshooting, the Dell web-based diagnostics, multiple tutorials, and searched forum archives.
A month ago, the wireless began disappearing.  It's not that I'm losing the signal, and it's not that the wireless is disabled (not being firewalled or disabled by power saving options).  The card disappears: the unconnected ethernet icon appears in the tray, and there is no wireless card to be found anywhere in Windows.  Sometimes it's not there on reboot, sometimes it disappears after a random amount of time of use.  For the latter, the signal disappears, no networks are detected, then the wireless disappears, in that order.
Initially, the card would reappear on reboot.  When this "fix" stopped working, re-installing the driver (and rebooting) would "fix" the issue.  Now, neither work.  My wireless card is not recognized (i.e. "disappeared", although physically it's still there of course).
Thoughts? Replace the card?  Where can I get one?
Thank you for your help!

After a couple of days playing with it, this definitely put me in the right direction to solve the issue. Flushing the DNS solves the issue, although it does create a strange work-around and I have to use Win8 trouble-shooter to re-locate the network adapters on reboot.
This seems to be triggered by a specific wireless network.  For some reason, the "secured" network at work does not jibe with my system configuration and apparently deletes my wireless card (or at least the driver).
I have not yet tried switching the IP address for an OpenDNS, but I'm satisfied with the fix as it is.
Thanks, again for your help.

  • C4599 Wireless Disappears

I have a new HP Pavilion dv7 running Windows 7 and a new HP C4599 printer. Every few days the wireless printer version of this device seems to disappear. The USB version stays intact. I am NOT connected via USB, but am relying on the wireless connection to be able to print to thsi device. I was suspicious that McAfee might be wiping it, but I can't find any evidence of that happening. Any ideas???

Yup, good clue that this is not happening to other computers.  That means that it is connected with the router OK.
Check this page out for some Win 7 critical updates.

I have tried using an external USB wifi adapter but every hour I get a blue screen and have to reboot the computer. This only happens when I use the wifi adapter.
I just did a complete system restore and this had no effect. I don't want to call HP because I'm out of warranty and would have to pay either $59 or $99 just to talk to someone. Even after that I was told that I would have to pay for any hardware repairs/replacements.
    Why won't HP fix this???

Sounds like a hardware failure. Have you tried running in safe mode with Networking enabled? If you do that, safemode win only run essential Programs, and can eliminate any Possibility that a program or getting interfering. Tane a look at your device manager then. and see if the device shows up in Device Manager. If not, I'd be willing to bet that the connection/ connector wore out. It's not impossible.
As far as your Blue Screen of Death you're receiving, it's most lively the driver for your external wireless card is causing errors. Best bet would be go to the manufacturers' website and update the driver for that device. That should clear up that problem.

  • E3200 wireless disappears after a few days

I am using the E3200 in a bridge mode to my uverse wifi router, since the E3200 has 5ghz and my uverse router doesn't.  every week or so, I would not be able to detect the E3200 on my Mac Book Pro (I only enabled 5ghz on the E3200), but I can connect to the 2.4ghz uverse router, then access the admin page of the E3200 w/o any problem.
i am running the latest 1.03 version, a router reset fixes the problem.
    any ideas?

If the wireless network getting disconnect continuously then try the following settings:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.

  • ITunes 10 disables Wireless

    Hi there,
So I've upgraded to the newest version of iTunes on my laptop. Since then, my wireless disappeared. I could not even create a new wireless network, and could not connect to the internet at all. I finally got frustrated and did a System Restore to the day before and everything worked fine again. However, now the iTunes does not work at all and tells me I have to re-install it. I can't update to iTunes 10 because of the bug but now I can't even have the older iTunes. Please help!

I'm having the exact same problem. I need to update my phone and this is causing problems for my iphone. I tried to call Apple and the iPhone line about it and they couldnt help me either. Is their a way to possibly pinpoin the bug that is causing this problem?

  • WRT54GX2 slow wireless 5.5 mbps speed help please

So I just received my WRT54GX2 and got it hooked up. Here are some details of my equipment which are all experiencing the same issue while connected via wireless.
1 Dell Inspiron wireless G. (updated latest driver)
1 Toshiba laptop wireless G (not sure on driver yet)
1 custom tower with wireless G (updated latest driver)
WRT54GX2 ver 2 with firm ware 1.00.08 (just updated)
Comcast 6 Meg cable internet service with Motorolla cable modem
Here is the problem I am experiencing.
After configuring the WPA2/TKIP settings and getting everybody logged on, the wireless connectivity speed (reported via the windows XP wireless utility) indicates connection speeds of 5.5 Mbs. If I disable the adapter and re-enable it, it connects and is at 54 Mbps for about 1 second, then rapidly drops down to the 5.5 which is where it stays. This problem is replicated on all 3 PC's on the wireless. I have tried adjusting the beacon interval down to 50, even went down to 10 with no result. I changed the RTS threshhold to 2304. Tried setting the transmission rate from auto to 54 Mbps. I tried adjusting the RWIN settings on my PC as suggested in another post here where somebody was experiencing a similar problem. I have installed the Microsoft WPA2 patch (893357) and that made no difference either. I have switched to G only instead of mixed mode. Tried channels 1, 11, 7, 6, and probably most of the others. Moved the router around to different locations in the room. Even sitting within arms reach of it, I still only see the 5.5 Mbps (I have full signal strength BTW). I ran netstumbler and found very few wireless networks within range. And the ones that were had very weak signals. Short of unplugging my cordless phone, I am at a loss of things to try. I may reset the router and try a new config from scratch, but if there is any help on this subject it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last firmware upgrade, please do this now.   If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
There are many causes for poor wireless connections, and many solutions:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for all your wireless cards.  Note that often the speed of your wireless network is determined by the "weakest link" in your system.  You might want to try to isolate the problem by turning on each wireless computer separately, then two at a time.  You might be able to tell which computer is bringing down your wireless speed.
If you still have trouble, try the following.
For wireless g routers, try setting the "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps. For wireless n routers, try setting the "n Transmission Rate" to 162 Mbps, and the (wireless g) "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps.
    Hope this helps.

  • My networked Officejet 8500 disappears from my computer

My officejet pro 8500 wireless disappears from my computer running windows 7 64 bit every time i reboot the computer, forcing me to "add a device" in order to reinstall. I've tried to run the utilty that supposedly addresses this issue: "CPE_SLP_NETWORKMSI_HPCOM_000_006.exe" only to receive an error message: "This update does not support any of the HP device drivers that you have on your PC."
I've checked to confirm that I'm using the latest device drive V 14 that I downloaded from the support site.

I just received this computer the last few days and am having the worst install and maintain problems I've ever had so looking for help. I can successfully install but eventually the printer goes to sleep and drops off my network and the driver cannot wake up the printer for a print command. It always loses connectivity.
My setup is a Windows 7 x64 computer (Ultimate) wired network into switch and then router.
The HP Officejet Pro 8600 911a is connected via the wireless access point of the (G) router using WPA2 security enabled. The printer maintains network connectivity and internet access.
The software from the original disk is installed on the computer. I can print via eprint email, but I lose connectivity to print, scan at my pc. I have tried the website downloads as well. I finally restored the printer to factory settings, but that only deleted my email I had set up and passcode for eprintcenter, so that was a problem and didn't help the issue of being able to wake up the printer and access it over the network.
I wonder if there is a Windows networking setting that can be adjusted to keep the connection live vs. appearing to go offline and never comping back.
Another problem is that the photos will only print in the 5 x 7 size on an 8.5 x 11 paper. I don't know why a full page photo won't print. But that is the least of my problems at this point.
I received this as a gift for Christmas but I just want to take it back. The EWS vs. Computer software for managing the printer is so confusing. I cannot use the FAX feature because we have digital phone over IP which does not support fax service.

  • New Inspiron 17 5749 - Slow WiFi and Interferes with other laptop WiFi

    Hi all -
I spent the day searching through this forum and doing google searches, but could not find a solution to my problem.  Any help you could lend would be greatly appreciated.
I purchased a new Inspiron 17 5749 a couple weeks ago to replace a 10-year-old Dimension 4700 desktop.  We also use a couple of Dell Latitude laptops at home (work computers).  The two work laptops and the 4700 desktop have no issue connecting to my home WiFi (the 4700 is wireless, outfitted with a DLink USB connection).  We have Comcast Xfinity, and typically my work laptop shows download speeds of 70-80 MBS.  However, when I turn on the new Inspiron, the new laptop has a super slow connection (download speeds of 0.5 MBS or less) and if other computers are on at the same time, their download speeds are equally slow.
I'm guessing that the new laptop is somehow causing the slow connection/interference, but I'm not smart enough to figure out why.
    Here are the basic details:
    New Dell Inspiron 17 5749:
    Windows 8.1
McAfee virus protection that came free with the Dell
Additional software - I've only added a couple programs (QuickBooks, Microsoft Office)
Running Xfinity Speed Test off their website, download and upload speeds are each <0.5 MBS
WiFi Status Window:  IPv4 Connectivity - Internet; IPv6 Connectivity - Internet; Speed - 54.0 MPS; Signal Quality - 5 bars
    Home WiFi
    Comcast Xfinity, uses Cisco XB3
Typically provides download speeds of 70-80+ MPS
    Dell Latitude (computer from work)
    2012 computer, runs Windows 7
When Inspiron is off, Xfinity Speed Test shows Latitude download speed of 80 MBS, upload = 25 MBS
When Inspiron is on, Xfinity Speed Test shows Latitude download and upload speeds of <0.5 MBS
Wifi Network Connection Status Window:  IPv4 Connectivity - Internet; IPv6 Connectivity - No network access; Speed - 144.0 MBS; Signal Quality  - 5 bars
What I've done today based on online readings/suggestions:
Searched for AMD Quick Stream issues.  There is no AMD Quick Stream on my computer.
Used Dell diagnostic Website to identify if Drivers are up to date.  All drivers up to date, but site suggested updating BIOS from A01 to A02.  So, I updated BIOS as suggested.
Modified the energy saving features for network adapter.  I unchecked the box for "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power."  Also set Wireless Adapter Settings, Power Savings Mode, On battery to "Maximum Performance"
Checked if wireless needed updated driver (Dell Wireless 1705 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHZ).  It told me that the driver was up to date.
For giggles, I disabled Bluetooth Network Connector.  I also disabled Ethernet.  WiFi remains enabled.
The 5 items above had no impact on Inspiron wireless speeds.
I'm confused.  And frustrated.  Any help you can lend would be greatly appreciated.
Clearly, as you can see in my language above, I'm not a computer guru.  But I typically can solve my PC problems by following advice found in forums without having to post questions. I'm throwing the towel in and posting a question.

    Hi,
It sounds like, for some reason, that the wireless card in the new system is sending an inordinate number of packets to the router to try to communicate with it, and that is what is causing the slow speeds to the other systems.
Have you tried a traceroute to see where communication is failing? This may be a better article explaining how to do a tracert.
Here is an article that explains how to understand the results from a tracert.  Check to see where the longest "hops" are between your system and the destination.  (I suggest using google.com at first just to see how it works out).
If the initial hops to your router and then the ISP take the longest then we can narrow down the issue better.   I would recommend trying this from the other systems as well to see how the results differ.
I would also still recommend updating that router, or at least making sure it has the latest firmware.  From what you say that sounds like you would need to contact Comast to do so.  Maybe they have a chat feature where they can check it online for you without having to call in?

  • Vista Network Icon in System Tray Disappeared

I'm running Vista on my MacBook and a few weeks ago, I noticed that my networking icon that displays when i'm connected via LAN or wireless disappeared. I have no idea how to get it back. There used to be a way in XP that I know of but I'm lost here. Anyone got any ideas?

*Right Click* on an empty portion of your taskbar.
Choose Properties on the window that appears.
    Choose the *Notification Area* tab.
Look below for *System Icons* section and ensure that there is a check mark next to Network.
This will show the network/Lan/Wireless icon in the system tray.

  • IPod Touch 3G loses wifi every few seconds

I just purchased a new Touch 3G last night, and every few seconds it loses the wifi connection and reconnects. It does this over and over again consistently. When i go into wifi settings, i can actually see the settings for my wireless disappear, then reappear with a check mark beside it, every few seconds.
I've tried changing broadcast channel in router, from mixed to non-mixed G, resetting the router and iTouch, and release/renew. My laptop and desktop are connecting fine with the wireless, so i assume the issue is with the iTouch.
    3.1.1 OS

Just recently purchased and mine does the same exact thing. Mine seems to show a strong 3 bar connection while in the WiFi settings menu. When I back out to Home, the signal indicator suddenly drops to one bar and will flucuate to 2 or 1 bar. I have done all the tricks mentioned here with my router as well. But in my home I use assigned static IP's. Every setting is correct on the iPod Touch's menu. Im lost as to why it does that.

  • Switching from Linksys

For the past few years I have been using a wired Linksys BEFSR41 four-port router with a flying saucer Airport Extreme acting as a bridge. Lately the Linksys needs to be power cycled up to 4 times a day. It seems to have gotten worse with Leopard. Since upgrading to Leopard, everytime I power up a computer I can't connect to the internet so I have to power cycle the Linksys. This didn't happen with Tiger.
Anyway, I want to make sure I can do the same stuff with the new Airport Extreme that I can do with the Linksys. Hooked up to my network I'll have a Power Mac G5 dual 2.5 GHz (wired), Quicksilver 733 MHz (wired), MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz (wireless N), Dell Inspiron (wireless G) and Dell Latitude (wireless G). By the way, the Dells are supplied by my and my wife's employers - definitely not our choice. The Quicksilver is used as my web and FTP server. I also want to use my G5 and MacBook Pro with "Back To My Mac" when I'm traveling. Plus every once in a while I need to allow VNC access to the Dell Inspiron. I also have an Airport Express for AirTunes to my stereo system and to extend the network using WDS.
The Linksys allowed me to forward lot of different ranges of ports on multiple computers. Can I do this with the new Airport Extreme? Is there a limit on the number of ports that can be forwarded? My current flying saucer Extreme could only forward ports from one computer which was a big drawback. Is DMZ an option?
The other issue is the speed of the network. Will having a combination of N and G laptops and Express mean I won't get N speed on the MacBook Pro? Should I get a 10/100 switch and hook up the new and old Airport Extreme's to it and have separate N and G wireless networks?
I'm hoping the new Airport Extreme can do everything I'm asking. I'd hate to have to go with another Linksys or D-Link or Netgear router.
So many questions. But this is the best place to get answers.
    Thanks,
    -= Ken =-

The Linksys allowed me to forward lot of different ranges of ports on multiple computers. Can I do this with the new Airport Extreme?
Like your 802.11g AirPort Extreme Base Station, the 802.11n version will only allow you to map a port to a single device. You will not be able to map the same port to multiple devices. However, you can map multiple ports to the same device.
Is there a limit on the number of ports that can be forwarded?
    No.
    Is DMZ an option?
    Yes.
The other issue is the speed of the network. Will having a combination of N and G laptops and Express mean I won't get N speed on the MacBook Pro?
Mixing 802.11g/n devices will cause some bandwidth performance degradation, but it will not reduce the performance all the way down to 802.11g.
Should I get a 10/100 switch and hook up the new and old Airport Extreme's to it and have separate N and G wireless networks?
If you need to retain the number of available Ethernet ports on the 802.11n AirPort Extreme, then yes, an Ethernet switch would be the way to go. You may also want to consider a 10/100/1000 Mbps switch if you have the newest Extreme model.

  • Home Networking with a EVDO modem

I am new to Mac. I am not very tech savvy but struggle through most challenges. I am confused on how to set up my home network. I want to share files, printer, and internet. What hardware do I need? How should it be configured?
Computers: Mac mini with Airport Extreme Running Windows XP in Parallels 5, Dell Inspiron wireless enabled lap top (win XP)
Printer: Canon MP 560 WIFI enabled
    Modem: Verizon (novatel) USB 760.
Do I need a router or will airport work?
What if I want to watch internet tv or netflix instant movies, will I need something more?
I have done so much reading and research, my head is spinning!
    *PLEASE HELP*

I've been holding back on suggestions in hope that someone who has done what you want to do will chime in.
Under Apple Menu > System Preferences > Sharing there are a number of options that would facilitate some (but perhaps not all) of what you want to do.
If, for example, the evdo modem is attached to the Mini and you want to access the internet via wifi from you "couch" pc notebook, you could turn on "Internet Sharing" in the aforementioned Preferences.
That Preference panel would also allow hard drive and/or printer sharing, if the printer is attached with a usb cable to the Mini.
What I'm worried about is that I suspect (but don't know from experience) that the Mini can't provide internet sharing to the wifi connected pc and simultaneously provide drive and printer sharing -- because I fear that the PC ends up in a different "sub-net" from the Mini and the printer.
But perhaps it would work. Give it a try.
If the PC doesn't need to access the internet, then if you turn off internet sharing, the other kinds of sharing would certainly work via wifi/airport.
(BTW, if you attach the evdo modem to your Mini, you might use a USB extension cord to attach it so that you can place the modem for best reception.)

  • Inspiron 15 (3521) wireless 'limited'...but only at certain places!

I've spent days trying to resolve this issue on this laptop. I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my son, only to find that it's got a problem with wifi connectivity. What's crazy though is that it connects perfectly to my home router, and will connect perfectly at two different coffee shops/bakeries I've used for testing yesterday. But at a local Starbucks and at my sons work location (which is also a public hotspot) it only shows a 'limited' connection, and you get no Internet access. I was also told that it could see and connect to his iPhone in 'hotspot' mode or whatever, but couldn't get to the Internet thru that either.
Basics: Inspiron 15 (3421), Windows 8 x64 clean install, and all current Dell drivers installed (from the Dell site.)
Fwiw, I have a long tech background with computers and laptops, so I have no problem getting into and checking or resetting things. As I said, it has all the latest Dell drivers for everything on it, including the most current (as of today) wireless 1704 driver. Also, I've read numerous forum posts by others with similar problems, so I've seen many of the things suggested to try to fix wifi connectivity issues (i.e. set it to maximum performance, don't let the system turn it off, etc.) I'm still checking various posts for others ideas, but it's frustrating to have it working here at home and have to run up to a Starbuck to see if it's fixed or still flaky.
Even so, it seems to me that the evidence that it connects perfectly to some hotspot routers and my AT&T wifi router at home makes it pretty clear the hardware is fine. It does see all the hotspot routers and lists their names and it can/does connect and get an IP (verified via 'ipconfig /all'). So I think the laptop/wlan hardware is functional, but there's something wrong with the drivers or some setting that is enabled or disabled, or set wrong, that just doesn't communicate properly with some of the generic hotspot routers or configurations...like the 'Google Starbucks' hotspot down the street.
I think by now Dell must have a very good idea what the problem is, even if they aren't widely publicizing it for whatever reason. But I'd like to know what could make this thing not connect to some very public hotspot routers, and be just fine connecting to others. It has to be something set in the laptop that's making it overly strict or specific, such that maybe older routers won't work.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks...

I can certainly understand the frustration. It's clear to me, after a week of trying to figure this out that not everyone's connection problem was the same as mine, but I do think that what I found  was something that should have been near the top of the list in troubleshooting steps. It was hands-down one thing that would stop all internet connectivity under some circumstances..but would work in others...and would never be obvious to most people--especially considering the info below:
Tonight I went back to a different Starbuck's to double-check that it was now working at all of them. At this Starbuck's---which I'd been to before---I still got the 'limited' connectivity. Lo and behold, the network IP4 setting still had the faulty 192.168.1.254 DNS entry, with the check box to "use the following DNS server address", though I know I'd deleted it since things were now working at the other Starbuck's. I removed it, but when I went back and reconnected it still wouldn't connect...and the DNS entry seemed to have reappeared. I tried connecting and reconnecting, but it wouldn't get past limited connectivity.  Then it hit me...
What I suspect now might be a problem is that if you ever tried to connect to the router at a location, and either remembered it or choose to "connect automatically", it must be storing the settings for that particular network/wi-fi connection. It seems logical in hindsight, but it had not occurred to me that each wi-fi connection you connect to (Starbucks..the book store..etc.) may save whatever network attributes you had set in there at the start, and if they're wrong, you're, well, dazed and confused to put it mildly. I think that's why my faulty DNS entry was still in there for this location.
So, I finally completely deleted the connection for this Starbucks (i.e. choose 'forget this network' from the wi-fi list) and let it be re-detected cleanly. Now when I chose to connect...bingo! Got through to the Starbuck's T&C page and could finally authenticate and go on.
To restate my experience: I'd tried all the 'advanced' settings changes that so many Dell 'Rockstars' kept telling everyone to change--I changed power settings, strict H, 802.11b, 2300, MAIN, AUX, aggressive, broader compatibility, blah, blah..changed the back, the back again. I reinstalled drivers, borrowed drivers from old Win 7 batches, and even tried some odd Broadcom drivers. Not one of those things made any difference, but not one rockstar every suggested being sure you don't have a bad DNS server IP in there.
(Fwiw...I did finally settle on the WLAN 1708 driver, which worked and is running in there now, though I think the original 1704 driver probably was working all along.)
    The steps:
    1) Connect to the router showing 'Limited' connectivity...then..
    2) Right-click the wi-fi icon in the Windows tray (next to the battery icon) and choose "Open Network and Sharing Center.
    3) Double-click the name of wi-fi connection on the right (in blue, next to the little green wi-fi bars.)
    4) Click 'Properties'..
    4) Scroll down and double-click on "Internet Connection Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
    5) At the bottom, select ""Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically"....click "OK" and you're done.
You'll likely have been disconnected anyway, but best to just "Forget this Network" for this connection and let it be re-detected, and reconnect from scratch. Worked for me and I can now connect everywhere.
    Best of luck..

  • Can't connect to wireless network with Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista

I set up a wireless network about a week ago, and have made it with the following security features: WEP, enable only certain MAC addresses to connect, and disabled broadcasting the SSID.  I have been able to use it just fine with my Mac computer using airport, but when I have tried to connect my roommates computer, a dell inspiron 1525 with vista, it can't connect.  I can locate the network but when I try to connect to the network, I get a message saying that for an Windows cannot connect to the network and that the Wireless association failed due to unknown reasons.  It then says to connect with your administrator, but that is me.  I have a minimal knowledge of computers just enough to be dangerous and am basically figuring this out as I go along.  If anyone has some advice for me, both my roommate and I will be very grateful.
    Thanks,
    - Jill

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Wireless Setup -Printing shows in Queue and then disappears. Not Printing

I just received the Officejet Pro 8600 as a gift and loaded the set up software and  it on my wireless network.  When I try to print an email or a coupon, the command goes to the printer and shows in the queue. Then after several seconds, the printing queue (job) disappears without printing the document.  Does this command go through the HP ePrint function or the Network Officejet Pro 8600?  It shows the HP ePrint as being on USB.
I've run all of the diagnostics, downloaded all of the new software, firmware and updates.  I've spend many hours trying to get the printer to print.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

    Hi @bksechols
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that when you send a print job to your Officejet 8600 printer that it goes to the print queue and then disappears without the print job printing.
To better assist you, would you please provide some additional information?
How is the printer connected (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)?
What operating system are you using?
Are all print jobs failing? If yes and you are using a Windows operating system, please Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows.  The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues.
When you send a print job are emailing the printer’s ePrint email address? If so please review The HP ePrint Print Job Did Not Print If you are sending the print job by using the print command, please review the Print Jobs from Your HP Printer are Stuck in the Print Queue document.
I look forward to hearing from you.
