Installation and Administrative rights

If PPro CS5.5 is installed on a PC (actually Production Premium CS 5.5) and then administrative rights are taken away - how will this affect functionallity of the software? Our IT department is "standardizing" our laptops and they want to take away admin rights.

I guess that's about the most simple but yet most descriptive of an answer. I'm going to assume this applies to CS4 also. I can't wait to see their "answer" for this. This is the same bunch of knuckle heads that thought instead of getting a decent RAID on the editing PC, I could use network storage and a 10/100 connection.
Thanks for the info. I should have figured but then I never even considered of trying this in first place.

    Hi,
Could anyone tell me where i can get good documents on Installation and administration of EMC Symmetrix devices with a volume manager on a Solaris box.
    Thanks.

On another note... is there a Sparc equivalent for the mod_wl_ohs.conf where we would place
    <Location /<deployed app>>
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicHost <weblogichost>
    WebLogicPort 7001
    </Location>
It appears that this goes into the apache httpd.conf file, correct? Or does the mod_wl_ohs.conf equivalent exist?
We have just about completed everything in regard to being able to include a solaris host in our list of hosts that are tied to OAM. The webgate was created and software installed, the deployed app protected, etc... Everything that we have done for Linux and XP in the past we have done for this Sparc host.
When we try to access the Sparc's protected uri... nothing happens. The browser stays blank... the url does not change to display the oamsso login.html (as the other installs do)... nothing is returned... no error, no remarks, no logfile entries... just a blank browser.

  • Installing DSL software and administrative rights

I am trying to install my Verizon DSL software but it says I can't because I don't have system administrative rights. I am the administrator and I am logged into my account. It won't pull up the password box it just ends my installation. Is there a way to sign in with administrative rights before I click the installation button? Or a way to turn off the installation password box...so that I don't need it? I really need this installed

    Hello icemice:
I suggest you call the Verizon technical support people - they should be able to address your issues. Offhand, I cannot see why you would be blocked from installing software.

  • I think I have a virus - hard disk full and administrator rights gone

I think I have a virus - my hard disk is full allthough I only have about 20G of 60 used. I cant install a virus checker as I have lost my administrator rights (when I check in accounts, I am just a "standard" user. This means I cannot install any software as it will not let me run the installer program - says incorrect username / password

You may have a corrupted disk but you do not have a virus. Boot using your original system installation DVD and run Disk Utility. Repair the disk.
If you have no Administrator accounts at all, follow this procedure to create a new, temporary Administrator account from which you can fix your normal one.
Power on or restart your Mac.
At the chime or grey screen, hold ⌘ and S on your keyboard to enter single-user mode.
    At the prompt, type
    fsck -fy
    and press Return.
This is a simple check for file system integrity and is optional. It will take a moment or two to complete. Wait for it to finish before proceeding.
Type the following exactly as written, one line at a time, each line followed by the return key. There is a single space preceding the first "slash" ( / ) character in each line:
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -h now
When you restart the machine, it will take you through the entire setup and registration process all over again. When you do so, create a brand new account with Admin privileges. Give it a simple and disposable name since you will delete it later. Do not choose the option to transfer or migrate information to the Mac.
When it completes, log in under that new account, change your previous account back to Admin, and log out.
Log in using your old account, which will now have its Admin privileges restored. Delete the throwaway account you just created.

  • Outlook Connector 6.0 and Administrator rights

    Hi all!
We want to use the Sun Java System Connector for Microsoft Outlook 6.0 with Windows 2000 with Outlook XP.
To install the generated exe file as an user, he needs admin right. Afterwards we take the administrator rights from the user away. Run the user outlook, it wants to send a problem problem report to Microsoft.
If the user has administrator right, everything functions.
Thanks for your help in advance.

    Hi Jens!
To install the generated exe file as an user, he
needs admin right. Afterwards we take the
administrator rights from the user away. Run the user
outlook, it wants to send a problem problem report to
Microsoft. The solution is, to install connector.exe as local admin
an the machine. You can abort installation without providing
    user information.
After that you can install connector.exe as
    user without administrative rights.
So you need two install turns.

  • Exadata Database installation and administration documents please

I want to learn more about Exadata. Please anybody share the exadata database installation steps and administration documents.
    Appreciate your reply.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
you can find all the documentation for Exadata on the OTN site : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/exadata/index.html
However sorry to disappoint you as of now Oracle does not allow any installation or configuration to be done by yourself on the Exadata box hence there is no document with regard to installing and configuring the Exadata. But creating or adding new instances you can do with the DBCA wizard.

  • Front End Installation Server - Administrator rights on client PC's

We are using a third party repackaging tool to deploy sapgui to our workstations.  This has proven to be problematic in the past and are now considering the SAP Front End Installation server approach.
After reveiwing the installation guide we are wondering about how packages are deployed to workstations.  Our users do not have administrator priveleges on thier workstations, so is it still possible to deploy packages from the installation server (either where they "pull" it down, or it is pushed down to them).
This factor is one reason we are still using the third party repackaging tool because packages can be deployed under a "system" account (via a cleint agent on each PC) - in lieu of each user having administrator privelges on their workstations.
If the SAP Installation server requires users to have these elevated priveleges it won't be an option for us.  Does anyone else have any experience with the Installation server and users who do not have administrator priveleges?
Any feedback, directions, or links to additional resources would be greatly appreciated and happily rewarded with positive feedback and reward points

  • SCM Installation and Administration.

    Hi All,
My next project is to install SCM 7.0 and LiveCache and to administrate the same. I have already worked in ECC 6.0 and SRM 5.0. As a SAP Basis administrator, I need to know what are the activities i should know in regards to SCM & LiveCache administration.
Can somebody help me in thig regards and list down the activities which SAP Basis person should be knowing in SCM Environment.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
    Thanks for reply
I am confused in SCM & Live cacache post installation activity. Please help me to clear out following doubts
    1) As per SCM Inst. guide 7.0 SR1, post installation activity "5.13BI-Specific Post-Installation Steps", We need to do client copy and BI specific.
    2) In the Same guide there is a activity "5.17Performing the Client Copy".
    3) In Live 7.7 cache inst. guide, post installation activity "5.1.1Setting Up the Connection to the liveCache Instance".
I have gone through these two guides. Please clear out following doubts.
    1) As per SCM Inst. guide , Do we need separate client for BI-Specific activity and one more client for other acivity. OR we should have only one client for BI-Specific and SCM Specific activyt. So DO we required two separate clients ?. OR there always only one Production client in SCM system ?
    2) As per LiveCache inst. Guide, in the post installation activity we need to set up a connection. Is this connection to above mentioed BI-Specific client or other production client.?
I am little confused. Please reply.
    Thanks

  • Windows explorer and Administrative rights

    Hello,
I'm looking for a way to make windows start on an other program than desktop. Is there a way to customize the windows explorer so my program would replace the desktop without affecting the explorer functionalities. I also want to know if there is a way to
give the User Access Control exceptions so a program doesn't need to wait for the user to click 'yes' on the uac prompt to run.
    Thanks.

well, in my opinion, it's maybe but almost impossible to achieve this goals. Windows Explorer is a Shell when system enabled GUI mode. That's belongs to Windows kernal design and programmer have no rights to access.
Actually, there is only one condition we don't need Windows Explorer: boot Windows into CMD mode.
On the other hand, even if there was method to do this, Microosft doesn't support this behavior, because in case a program pretend itself to be Windows Explorer, the current system user profile information was probably stole by Criminals.

  • Installation of SAP Business One client and required administration rights

    Dear community,
I would like to kindly ask you for your feedback on the installation of SAP Business One client and its patches on end-user computers.
The pain points I have heard so far are the following:
    - The installation of SAP Business One client and its patches has to be started by a user with administrator rights.  As far as I know (and please correct me if I am wrong), this is also required in case of installation of any other software.
    - End users usually do not have administrator rights and therefore the SAP Business One clients have to be manually upgraded by administrator.  This is time consuming (and therefore costly) activity.
We are considering to design a new solution which would overcome the above limitations.
I would like to confirm with you if my understanding is correct:
    Question 1:
Is it a common situation that the end-users of SAP Business One client do not have administrator rights and therefore cannot install the patches of SAP Business One client by themselves?
If yes, how do you resolve this currently?
    Question 2:
Do you use Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager or Active Directory (or any other 3rd party solution) to automatically distribute software packages and updates to client PCs at your customers?
    Question 3:
If the SAP Business One client installation (and its patches) is delivered as MSI package with silent installation capability, would you be able to automate the deployment of B1 client updates to client PC using the abovementioned technologies? Or can you still see some obstacles?
    Thank you
    Best regards
    Jan Ruzarovsky
    SAP Business One Product Management

    Dear all,
Thank you very much for your comments, very helpful!
@Marco - SAP Business One 8.8 client currently does not support the silent installation / upgrade. However we are currently considering this requirement and we would like to deliver it as soon as possible.
We are currently considering several possible designs. One of them is as follows:
    1. A new SAP Business One Updater Service will be installed on each client workstation.
It will be a windows service installed and running under a local system account.
    2. The updater service will check regularly if there are any new patches of SAP Business One client or add-ons uploaded to a configured shared directory.
    3. If a new patch is found in the shared directory, the updater service will SILENTLY install the new patch (add-ons, SAP Business One) on the client workstation.
The service would be able to install patches even if nobody is logged in.
    Questions:
If we consider the above design, there are a few open topics:
    1. During the upgrade of the SAP Business One server, the client patches (and SAP add-on patches, partner add-ons) would be placed to a SHARED directory instead of into SBO-Common (as it is implemented currently).
    - Does this have any impact on your tools, processes or add-ons?
    2. SAP Business One upgrade wizard will put the latest patch of SAP Business One client into a configured shared directory. The shared directory will have to be read-only for everybody in the network to avoid that the valid installation files are replaced by malware or virus infected files
    - Can you configure such a shared directory?
From customer perspective, if a new patch is put into the shared directory, the updater service can behave as follows:
    1. Manually initiated upgrade of the client
Example: Customer starts the old (not upgraded) SAP Business One client. The client will inform him/her that a new patch has been found and it has to be installed in order to continue working with the client. After customer clicks "Yes", the upgrader service starts the silent installation of the client and informs customer about the progress. Once the upgrade is finished, the upgraded SAP Business One client will be started automatically.
    2. Automatic update:
       - Update the client automatically (e.g. overnight) if customer is not working with SAP Business One
       - If SAP Business One client is running, ask customer if he/she wishes to upgrade the client now or to delay the upgrade by X minutes.
Question: Which of the above two scenarios would you and your customers prefer?
If the upgrade is fully silent, automated and handled by the upgrader service, Is it acceptable for customers to trigger the installation manually and wait till the client is upgraded? Or would they prefer to have the client updated for them e.g. overnight so they can immediately start to work?
    Best regards

  • I have installed Firefox 5.0.1 and need administrator rights to run it and have lost my list of bookmarks.

Recently, I upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1. I now require administrator rights to run it. If I start Firefox with ordinary user rights, I am presented with an error message which says that sqlite3.dll is missing from my computer. This file is actually present in three locations on my computer. However, Firefox runs if I start it with administrator rights.
The spell checker no longer works, my list of bookmarks, which was quite extensive, has now disappeared. Also, my history has disappeared too. A security package which I used when
accessing my bank account has also disappeared. This was called Rapport.

    Do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

trying to download itunes and keep getting message 'the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation' and therefore cant download - any ideas

Let's try something relatively simple. Download and save a copy of the installer to your hard drive (don't run the install on line and don't start the install just yet):
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now right-click on the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) that you downloaded and select "Run as administrator".
Does that go through any better for you?
