Installer says OS is older than it actually is

Hello,
"Installer" is stating an application I'm trying to install cannot be installed on my computer, because the operating system I'm using is too old. It says I need 10.7 or newer, but I'm running 10.9.5. The programs I'm trying to install are plugins by Arturia, and they are investigating the issue, but are puzzled why the native OSX Installer would behave this way.
I was just seeing if anyone encountered a similar glitch while installing a different app, and how they fixed it.

Also The backup drive is completely reformatted (2x) and is completely clean.
As for the size of the drive to be backed up disk utility also verifies the total as being 594.5 and not 713.
What can I do here?

Woops...found the problem. My address book had the name "undisclosed recipients" next to my email address. I edited that name to say "Margaret Parsons" and presto my name appears in the "From" line on my sent emails. Yeaa....problem solved, given enough time and poking around Thunderbird...sure love this email.

Why is my macbook DVD player no longer playing commercial DVD's that it used to play perfectly? It reads the disc, but then says not permitted when I hit play. It is much older than 12 months warantee so I hope there is an easy fix?

The macbook reads a disc, and opens up DVD player but then says not permitted when I hit play, or any other button. Sometimes the initial music plays, but the screen remains black and then it all stops. These are shop bought DVD's that have previously worked on here, and work in DVD players, but have suddenly stopped. The computer is much older than the12 months warantee so I hope there is an easy fix? Thankyou!

Three things you can try:
1. Clean the superdrive with a proprietory CD/DVD lens cleaner that uses tiny brushes.
2. Perform an SMC reset:

Time Machine says my initial backup is way larger than it actually is.

I am doing an initial backup to Time Machine. I have 810.5 GB worth of data (according to the "options" tab of Time Machine System Prefs). However, when I go to do my first backup, I get a message saying that I have 972.8 GB of data which is too much to fit on my 1TB Time Capsule.
Any ideas re: why Time Machine is calculating 162.3 GB more than I actually have?

If you download the +Time Machine Buddy+ widget via this link, it will show the messages from your backup attempt.
The critical message will be, roughly, "No pre-backup thinning needed: 972.8 GB requested (including padding), xxx GB available."
The "padding" is about 20% that TM adds to the actual amount of data, for workspace it will need on the backup volume.
A general "rule of thumb" is, TM needs 2 to 3 times as much space as the data it's backing-up.
But this actually varies greatly, depending on how you use your Mac. If you frequently add/update lots of large files, then even 3 times may not be enough. If you're a light user, 1.5 times might do.
But yours is just barely larger.
You have three options:
1. Get a bigger drive for TM.
2. Exclude a lot (a whole lot!) of data from TM (via TM Preferences > Options).
3. Use a different backup app, such as a "bootable clone," that doesn't keep copies of items that have been changed or deleted.

Apple installation date shows as default date on all e-mails older than 24 hours. ??

My MacBook was installed on 05/01/06 (the date of the Apple location name and the date many of the applications etc. were created). Recently all e-mails (Mozilla messaging -- Thunderbird) older than 24 hours started showing the date received/sent as 05/01/06. How can I fix this ?

The second to last time I talked to AT&T, they said they did not have a device type in their computer system and they had to add that in their system. A couple days after they did that, I still had problems. One AT&T rep got an iPhone like mine and set up my e-mail account on that phone and tested it out 10 times by sending e-mail back and forth from phone to computer and etc. He said it worked perfectly fine without any issues. He said to restore phone back to factory settings and that he can tell nothing is wrong with their CWMX.com server as it worked fine for him when he tested out my e-mail account. After I spoke to the rep who did not have problems with the e-mail, I tried sending out e-mail and it would not work. That night, I restored phone back to factory setting as requested. That night after I did that, the e-mail still would not work. The next day, I still had issues. After that, I may have had issues maybe a couple times. Right now as far as I know it seems to be working okay but once I say that, I wonder if I will start having issues again? I wonder if not having my device type in their computer system would cause me all these problems and if so after updating it why did phone still have issues a couple/few days later? I'm sure it wouldn't take that long for it to take in their system if it was the cause.
Since the rep tested out my e-mail account from the city/state where he was located and worked fine, and it didn't for me where I am located.... I am wondering if it has something to do with the area of the local towers?
Nothing makes sense to me... and I have done everything that I possibly know and can. I just hope it continues to work and it stays that way and that I won't start having issues with it again.

Sending queue says I'm sending more messages than I actually am...

When sending emails on Mac Mail, the queue notifcation is always higher than the actual number of emails sent. Why is that? What else is sending and where is it going?!?!? For example, I just sent one email to two different people.. but the queue notification said I sent 3 mails.
Very confusing, and I can find no evidence in the 'sent' folder of this phantom email.

This is happening for me as well. I'm very worried that I am sending some kind of ick through email that I can't prevent.

[journalctl] cannot find log older than actual boot

my system just crashed, so i runned "sudo journalctl", but there is no log older than THIS session...
it is the way journalctl works, or something really bad is going on?
how i'm supposed to find what whent wrong? /var/log seems unused since 28 august, when i've installed a full systemd

That's the default. You can change it by creating the appropriate place for a permanent log and/or you can tell it to use syslog-ng and modify that service to use systemd's logging.

Searching for calendar items older than a specific date with search-mailbox and AQS

I need to find the total size of all calendar items in a mailbox older than a specified date using PowerShell through the search-mailbox cmdlet's searchquery parameter. My problem is that I cannot find a complete list of Calendar item properties to
use in search queries. The AQS page doesn't have a complete list of properties for a Calendar object.
I'm using code from the ArchiveStatisticsPlanner.ps1 script as a base and the only date properties I know of are the sent and receive properties (see below.) The basic start, end, date properties generate errors in the query. How can I find all
Calendar items older than say, 1/1/2013?

Version of NSU being installed is older than versi...

Phone: 5800 XpressMusic
Firmware version: V20.0.012
When I try to install the latest version of NSU I get the error message that says the version I am trying to instal is older than the version already installed (see attachment). This despite the fact that I have uninstalled NSU, and removed all NSU registry entires and run registry cleaners.
I've also tried uninstalling PC Suite and PC Connectivity Solutions, rebooting, then re-installing PC Suite, and then connecting my phone to the PC.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

I have performed a full scan with Symantec antivirus and found no problems, then tried with Kaspersky 2009 and had the same results (after removing Symantec and installing kaspersky). The issue continues, it just seems like there is a bad registry entry that the new NSU checks and aborts the install. My computer is running windows vista, I do not know if that is an issue since in my other computer running XP professional it did not present a problem for installation and updating NSU. The issue I have with the XP machine is different it will see the phone, identify that it needs a new update, it seems as it starts the download and then after 3 seconds it gives an error message while trying to update my E71 so that is why I am trying to install NSU on the vista machine. I would have thought that removing all of the registry entries under nokia would resolve the installation issue but maybe there is another registry entry that is not labeled as nokia that gets set up on installation and since this was not removed it still thinks that there is a newer version installed. That would be my guess and I personally do not want to reformat my vista machine just to get NSU working, loose a lot of data. Originally on the vista machine I had installed a previous version of PC suite along with a previous version of NSU but as you are aware upon running NSU it checks for updates and will not continue unless the update is downloaded, that is how my problem started, would not install it after downloading the update. I guess I will keep searching the registry to see if I can find any other entries under a different category that deal with NSU but it will be particularly difficult if not impossible without knowing under what name it might be under.

We currently have an Office 365 installation older than 15.0.4569.1507 on all our SOEs
These SOEs are managed by Windows Intune & we want to manage the Office updates ourselves.
We've created an Intune package that we know executes correctly with the configuration.xml file
We have downloaded that latest version 15.0.4641.1002 (Aug2014) and have placed the download in a network share.
My configuration.xml file looks like this

So finally here is what I've done.
I created a folder that contained:
•A registry file that edits the key propertybag> baseurlto
my DFS (Currently all our SOEs have it set to the CDN)
(I've called it UpdateO.reg)
•My configuration.xml & setup.exe
•included the office installation files in it’s original folder structure WITHOUT the stream* dat
files
I then create a batch file

regedit.exe /S UpdateO.reg
setup.exe /CONFIGURE configuration.xml
:end
exit
So effectively, the computer updates the Click to Run engine via the cab files located in
Office\Data\15.0.4641.1003
The default Office Task Schedule ‘Office Automatic Updates’ then automatically updates Office from my DFS (I have monitored via Wireshark& Resource monitor
and confirm it works)

ICal server not sending events older than 10 days

Have just discovered an issue with our iCal Server that I hope someone can help me resolve. It seems that sometime in the last few days, or past week. the iCal Server (running on a Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 setup) has stopped sending out any events older than 10 or so days for 6 of the 7 calendar calDAV accounts that we all subscribe too. All future events on each calendar appear to be visible. The situation is consistent across of all of our Desktop's, MacBook Pro's and iPhone's so it is not localized to any single machine. It is also consistent when I subscribed through a third party calnedar application (BusyCal).
I have gone into the ~/Library/CalendarServer/Documents and although I could not access the folders directly, I did copy the folder and its contents to another hard drive where I was able to view what was inside. It appears that all of the individual event .ics files for each account are in their respective subfolders, but they are not being served out to the subscribers.
Any ideas on how to get these older events to become visible again would be very much appreciated. I am not very well versed on this type of thing and am learning on the fly.

I'm having this same issue and I'm really ticked off.
When I upgraded today, I received a message saying that because I had so many events in the past that it would take longer to upgrade everything. It said that all my current and future events had been updated, but the past events would be available in 1 hour. Well, it's been a lot of 1 hours since then and nothing. All my events have been deleted from my MacPro, MacBook Pros, and iPhone. I'm holding out hope for them to reappear in the morning.
I know this isn't part of this thread, but I thought I'd throw it out anyway. Why are my subscribed calendars NOT visible online. Apple made an announcement in the past celebrating the ability to view subscribed calendars online when they once could not. Now with a new ADVANCEMENT, we've regressed and I cannot view subscribed calendars online. I hate to break it to Apple, but I use these subscribed calendars in my scheduling and planning, too. I still need to see them online just as I do on my computer and phone. So with all the updating and wonderful features, the lack of this one makes MobileMe online calendars useless to me and others.

I really do not understand why if iCal can sync all events, even the very old, the spotlight will not be able to search on events older than 365 days; why? is absurd; let's say I want to search for a person contained in an old appointment: iCal in your Mac with a few key words, I find it right away, but this important feature on the iPhone is locked; we have in our pockets phones are very sophisticated, but it does not manage to make things really trivial.

Adobe Installer says up to date when the file is not on my computer anymore.

My adobe installer says that my Illustrator is up to date when I actually deleted illustrator off my computer. I need to download it again but it won't let me. Please help.

TS4002 Messages older than 30 days in inbox are not moved to deleted items when removed.

I've had a few messages that were stored in my inbox and were older than 30 days. I've noticed that when I actually delete them they aren't moved to Deleted Items (and sat for 30 days before permanently deleted). It seems that the actual date of the email is being used to calculate the age and not the time it sits in deleted items.

If deleted email isn't being moved to the trash you might want to go to icloud.com from your computer, open mail, click on the gear-shaped icon on the top right and choose preferences, then confirm on the General tab that you have checked "Move deleted messages to" and selected "Tash" from the drop-down list.
