Installing NW CE7.1 and EP 7.0 on one machine

Hello All,
i have a question i am trying to install NW CE 7.1 and NW EP 7.0 on one windows 2003 ser machine but both are with different DBs EP with MSSQL 2005 server and CE with SAPDB. EP is based upon JDK 1.4 while NW CE 7.1 is based upon JDK 1.5. I didnt installed JDK 1.5 seperatley but i think its allready included in the package of nW CE 7.1. So installed for NW CE finished successfully (i had EP allready installed).
i am facing few probelms
1. I am not able to start diagonosis agent successfully it stays in yellow color forever. please find the snapshot of trace file at end of message.
2. I dont know the default port which will be used to access NW CE as my EP is allready installed on the
default port 50000. Can i know the default port used to access NW CE i allready tried 50001, 50002 and 50003. My EP is still working fine on 50000 port. Or does CE functionality going to be included into existing port 50000.
3. Is it even possible to install CE 7.1 and EP 7.0 on one system with different back-ends?
4. Do i need to install JDK 1.5 before starting CE 7.1 installation or its allready included?
any help will be highly appreciated.

i am able to start it, so question 2,3 and 4 vanishes
For question 2 is the port number builds as 5instance number00 e.g if Java EE server instance is 02 then port assigned is 50200. i think its possible to install both and JDK 1.5 is allready included in the SAP CDs.
but i am still not able to start Solution Manager Diagonostic Agent my first question.

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited. In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items. I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible. I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected. Hope this helps!

Install both 32 and 64 JVM on the same machine

I wanted to know if by installing both 32 and 64 JVM (on a 64 bit system, of course), would cause any damage. I have installed the 64 version, but Eclipse doesn't want to start at all, so i was hoping to make it work my installing a 32 bit version and making eclipse use it.
I am not sure how this will affect everything, because i will be using Jboss and Glassfish.

I have already installed Oracle 10g R2.m planning to install oracle 8i on same machine..
What steps should i follow in order to avoid conflict..
The OS is Windows XP SP3....
I know that installing oracle 8i first and than installing oracle 10g is more convinient..But my requirements are different..
so have to install oracle 10g first and then Oracle 8i on same machine..

Hold on - it DOES matter - you shouldn't update new repository with old oracle installer, so be careful...

legally you can only install 1 copy of FCS onto 1 desktop & 1 laptop. any more than that you need to but more copies.
as to the requirements of FCS2, check out apples FCS2 webpage for exact details but roughly, as it is a PRO app, it requires PRO machines (not mac minis, macbooks or any machine with an integrated graphics chip)

i just want to be assure that will it cause any problem or conflict..
because i set ORACLE_HOMe=/home/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1
and i have to set ORACLE_HOME for OBIEE also....
Please let me know what how to give...and is there any other way

Hi Abhishek,
You can install or mount both DB and OBIEE on same machine, but check out the disk space and memory needed should be more to accomodate both.

How do we Install Forms 6i and Server 8i on the same machine (PC)

Well i am Trying to Install Forms6i and Oracle 8i Server on the same PC and not succeeding. Can anyone help.

Follow below steps
1. Remove all Oracle versions in your machine. In NT, To Delete Oracle, delete HKEYLocalMachine/software/oracle , HKEYLocalMachine/software/services/oracle* registry keys, restart m/c and delete all oracle home directories.
2. Install Forms 6i Server in the default home directory. If you want to develop forms in same m/c, use custom installation and select forms server, forms developer and webdb listner ( if needed ).
3. Install Oracle 8i in a different oracle home.
4. configure oracle forms server and webdb listner. ( See Note:107596.7 in matalink)

Problems Installing iTunes 6 and Quicktime 7.0.3 - One Fix

I've been fighting with this all day, and none of the problems I was having were resolved by any of the other topics.
Every time I tried to install either Quicktime 7.0.3 or the iTunes 6 packaged install, I got the following error:
Error -1607: Unable to Install InstallShield Scripting Runtime
After trying everything I could think of (including wishing that I had brought my Mac on this trip) here is what finally worked: The Windows Services "InstallDriver Table Manager" and "Windows Installer" were not started. Typically, the Windows Installer service is set to Manual, and starts automatically when needed. The service "InstallDriver Table Manager" is a new one to me, but I started them both manually, and it worked!!
To start these two services, go to Start-->Run, and type "Services.msc" (minus the quotes) and hit Enter. Find the two services listed above, right click on them and then click on Start. Now try installing iTunes 6 again, and it should work. It worked for me, so hopefully this might work for others.

actually, there's a weekend-installer-error-spike ... (it smears out to about 72 hours due to dateline effects), so weekends end up being my busiest "work" days. having had recent upgrades also tends to put a bit of additional peak into the normal spike.
It did not work. I received an error code of 1402 and then after I click of and it rolls back the install I get another error code of -1603.

Just installed DW trial and it says I have one use left?!

So I've been having troubles getting the CS4 DW trial to work. It would crash at the loading screen. Every other CS4 app works fine. I finally figure out the problem, which was Acer e-Security software. So I uninstall that and reinstall CS4 and uninstall my old copy of MX (which works perfectly). I fire DW cs4 up. it works and then tells me that I have one use left....what is going on? Can someone help me out? All I want to do is try the darn thing for 30 days to see if I want to upgrade. AT this point, I'm considering not doing so. I shouldn't have to go to this much trouble.

Don't know if this would make a difference if you try and start DW after the update. I couldn't find anything in the technotes about CS4 expiring sooner than the 30 days. There was a problem with DW8 doing so, but haven't heard about it for CS4.

9iAS(1.0.2.0.0) and 8.1.7 on one machine

Hi i'm running 8.1.7 on Suse 7.1 the database is up and running but if i install Apllication server on it the portal 3.0 tool fails.I did configure the listener.ora,tnsnames.ora and init.ora files
- Should i install 9iAS as a different user?
- change the ORACLE_HOME settings ?
- should i use a diff. port?
Am i missing something ...

I understand you have installed Oracle 8.1.7 database. I did not get what is meant by Suse7.1. Anyway, installing database and iAS on the same machine is not a problem at all.
except that some precaustions to be taken to avoid port conflicts.
8.1.7 database comes along with apache and if this service is running there will be port conflict between database apache and iAS apache and the service may not start
You can either change the port number of apache of database or if it is ok stop the service of database apache.
If this does not solve your problem, let me know what error you are getting while installing Portal. You can check the log at
(oraclehome>/assistants/opca/instll.log fil

Will separate devicenet and CAN cards work in one machine?

I have an application that must talk to CAN and DeviceNet at the same time. NI's documentation says that DNET must be removed to run NI-CAN and vice versa. Will they play together if two cards are installed?

Currently, NI-CAN and NI-DNET cannot be installed on the same machine at the same time, regardless of the number of cards that are installed in the machine.
However, with some work, it is theoretically possible to install only NI-CAN, implement the CAN interface as normal, then, since the DNET protocol is built on CAN, use NI-CAN to implement DeviceNet functionality on another card.

How can I duplicate the same settings (add-ons AND bookmarks) from Firefox on one machine to another

From memory, it used to be possible to create a srtup file of sorts to re-create/re-establish not only bookmarks but also all the add-ons from one Firefox to another - on a different machine. In short, I would like to have them to be identical.

You need to mount that other partition to be able to access files on it and then browse to the hidden profile folder on that partition.
/home/user/.mozilla/firefox
You can only restore a JSON backup, unless you export the bookmarks in that other OS to an HTML file.

Installing Java Stack and Abap Stack, same machine.

Does anybody installed Java Stack and Abap Stack on the same machine?
I installed ABAP stack first, and am trying now to install Java stack but it seems like at the end of the process, ABAP stack. (is not working now).
Any idea?

Not sure about installing both as I haven't tried either!
Anyway, in theory if the SIDs and instance numbers are completely different, then you should be OK. If you ahev the same SID or instance number, I can see possible problems,
Portal only runs on Java, so in theory any Java system will be OK. NWDW would be a good choice.
