thread, it's about problems printing with Windows 7 photo viewer, might give some light to your problem. Seems like Photo viewer uses different printing dialog and causes many troubles to other people too. :(
It points to a corrupted DLL. Even being an old thread , there is people that recently had same problem and fixed it that way.
There are some suggestions at the end about changing printing processor too, although that shouldn't be the reason your printers are appearing and dissapearing, so please, check the DLL stuff.

Two variants of installing printers. What to choose?

I have a print server based on Widows 2008 R2 OS and more than 50 clients based on Windows 7 SP1 and later OS.
I know two ways of installing printers via GPO by selecting different options.
1) User configuration - Windows settings - Deployed printers - Add
I can achieve the same result through a print server by selecting a printer and selecting the "Deploy with Group Policy..." option.
2) User configuration - Preferences - Control Panel Settings - Printers
What way should I use if I have only Windows 7 clients and users are not administrators on their PCs?
I understand that the second variant has more options (Create, Update, Delete and so on) but I don't plan to use it.
And the second question: How to prevent appearing "Update driver" screen (after updating drivers on a print server) if users as I said do not have administrative privileges?

PS. As for second question, changing 'User Configuration - Policies - Administrative templates - Control Panel - Printers - Point and Print Restriction" option to Disable does not help me.

1) So if I apply Preference settings for deploying printers users will be able simply to delete for example installed printers and so on. Right? And therefor I should apply the first resolution.
2) On the page you have refered to I found the following "The Point and Print Restrictions setting can also be found under
User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Printers. This policy is ignored by Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2...". So as I understand
the Windows 7 clients simply ignore those settings. Am I right?

How to share printers with iPad?

Hi guys,
I upgraded iTunes to 10.1 so I could install iOS 4.2 on to my iPad.
When I first synced it with my iPad, after upgrading to 4.2, I was asked if I wanted to share printers with my iPad, but clicked no by accident. Now I can't get that message to come up again and don't know what to try.
Any suggestions?

Right, I've found it.
If you go to Edit > Preferences and click the Devices tab, near the bottom of the dialog box is an option that says Enable AirPrint for this computer. Click that, confirm the UAC box that pops up, and you're set.
Can't try it yet, as I am at work, but I am guessing it should work.

Installing Printers from Windows 2008 R2 printer server using the Cname

Am having issues installing printers on workstations from the windows 2008 R2 print server using the DNS names. the servername and Full qualified Name works fine.
l have tweaked the Registry and Disabled the StrictNameChecking but still getting an error. this is the message am getting...

I think I solved this yesterday. We got 1 printserver, with an alias, which we had this problem to connect to. I noticed that there is a difference between x86 and 64bits system entries in the registry...
When you are having a 64bit system, you must use REG_QWORD instead of REG_DWORD, REG_DWORD is only to be used in x86 system! See below.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 refuses to recognize installed printers

I have three printers installed on this Windows Vista 64-bit machine, and they all operate normally with other applications. When I open a TIF or JPEG file in Photoshop, part of the time they open normally, and I can do print preparation and normal printing. Sometimes when I open a TIF or JPEG file, they open normally, but when I start to prepare them for printing (printer selection, etc.), a Photoshop CS4 message tells me that I have to install a printer first before I can do any printing-related tasks. It acts like there are no installed printers at all. Obviously I am not changing my printer hardware status between files that work and files that don't work.
I've been trying to compare the files that work normally with the files that don't work normally, and I haven't found the trend yet. If I try to recreate thousands of files that don't work normally so that they do print, that will be a monumental job.

The printer drivers are all up-to-date. In fact, one has been newly installed within the last 60 days.
Plus, if it really were a problem with an outdated printer driver, then I would expect Photoshop to reject printing on all files of that type, and not just some of the files. Photoshop _sometimes_ reacts like there are no printers installed at all.

WSUS throwing 13002, "Client computers are installing updates with a higher than 25 percent failure rate. This is not normal."

Within the past two months our WSUS Server started throwing error 13002, "Client computers are installing updates with a higher than 25 percent failure rate. This is not normal." We currently have 252 computers with errors in WSUS,
and 33 updates with errors. We have never had issues up until two months ago. If you keep rebooting the machine, and keep running updates, they eventually all install. I believe I will see the machines with errors go away as the weekly scheduled
WSUS install runs over and over, and the machines reboot.
- We run IE8 in our environment and sometimes IE9.
- We have 300 clients, all running Windows 7 SP1 x64.
- Our WSUS server is running on Server 2008 R2. The WSUS build number is 3.2.7600.262.
- We created an alternate WSUS 4.0 server on Server 2012, and redownloaded all updates. We put one client on it and it is showing errors on 3 updates, KB890830, KB931125, and KB2917500.
- Clients are throwing errors 800F0902, 80242016, and 80070005.
- I've noticed something with the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder on the clients. When an update runs and fails, there is a "Install" folder created inside this folder. If you try to open it after the failure you get
"Access Denied" If you reboot the machine, the install folder goes away. (I assume this is a temp folder created to run updates). I've checked the permissions on this folder on various machines and all seems normal. I think
this is the root of the problem, and why we need to keep rebooting to get all of the updates to run.
- I tried deleting the Software Distribution folder on a client after stopping the update service, then restarting the update service. The folder redownloads but the client still throws errors.
- I've gone through our Group Policies looking for anything that can cause this and found nothing. We've created a test OU blocking inheritance, and only applying a WSUS policy in it to make it get the updates internally. I then rebuilt multiple
machines using Dell KACE, and still had failures.
- We run SEP 11 and 12 on our clients. I've tried removing the AV, making sure the firewall was off, etc. It still throws errors.
- I've spoken with our network team, and installed wireshark on a few clients looking for network errors and found nothing.
- I've tried various Dell KACE scripted installs on test machines (erasing and rebuilding the machines from scratch), after which I run Windows Updates from WSUS. They have thrown errors.
- I've rebuilt a machine using Dell KACE, undomained it, then ran updates externally from WSUS going to Microsoft's site, and I'm still getting errors.
- I've tried removing all software from the Dell KACE build to where it is just installing the OS and I'm still getting errors.
- I tried taking a plain Windows 7 x64 DVD and installing that on a test machine, then without domaining it and without installing any other software, running updates from Microsofts update site. This seems to work, althrough it does throw some errors
but I believe those are related to having to reboot your machine in order to complete the updates (I can't remember that error code at the moment).
Has anyone else been experiencing this? Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

Acrobat ver 9.4.2 does not see my installed printers

after the latest update Adobe Acrobat does not see my installed printers - Adobe Reader sees them fine - this is creating a major problem for me as I now had to go in and mark reader as the default program - every time I try to print from acrobat it tells me I have to install a printer first - I have more than 2 printer installed ( local and network printers) what is going on and how can I fix this - have tried doing a repair with no luck

As suggested in a previous post I looked up the Support posting in the Forums about this issue, looking for the same solution from the issue we are experiencing since that last update. I used the first solution which seems to have worked.

My only issue with this was clicking on manifest file, windows saved it as a .xml file not .manifest file extension. Windows does see .manifest as a .xml file but does not have a viewer to open it. I changed the saved .xml file to .manifest and then followed the instructions of copying the file into the Acrobat folder, rebooted the computer. Now the original default printer works with Acrobat 9 Pro.
Another strange thing about this problem is that if you change your default printer to another printer in printer/faxes it will see those but not the original default printer. But the above solution did work for me.

Distribute Acrobat 8 Professional with Zenworks

I've tried to create a .MST-file with Adobe Customization Wizard 8 and distribute it with Zenworks.
The problem is, that although I have a license-key, which I indicated in Adobe Customization Wizard 8, it doesn't work.
And althoug I chose "german" as language, it installs in english.
The second thing i've tested, was to edit the abcpy.ini:

The domain users without administrative permission cannot install printers shared on printer server

We have a printer server that OS is Windows server 2003 .And all clinets are installed windows 7.Now,the domain users cannot installed printers shared on the printer server.When i logon the clinent computer with a domain user and access printer server by
URL \\192.168.37.1 ,i can see all printers shared on the printer server.Then i double click on printer to install it on client computer.It will ask me to input user name and password of local administrator .

You cannot use a variable inside of a query and you cannot use a variable that is not in the file. Your file has no variable with that name.
You need to spend sometime learning VBScript first. Run the code as VBScript then try to use it in an HTA.
Here is a partial example:
"Select * from Win32_Printer Where ShareName='PrinterAA' or ShareName='PrinterBB' and not ServerName='MyPrintServer'"

Error deploying application with security polices: ORA-00904

I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.0 and I am trying to deploy an ADF application with secure polices on WebLogic Server 10.3.1
I have deployed the application to an EAR file and I have installed it using the weblogic console, after having defined the JDBC connection.
Have I anything to do for implementing the security polices? Miss anything?

sincerly now I don't remember what was the problem, but it seems to me the solution was in one of these four settings:
1) check Admin Server when I create the JDBC connection.
2) before deploying the application to an EAR file, you don't forget to uncheck Auto-generate and synchronize weblogic-jdbc.xml Descriptors during deployment in Application properties --> deployment
3) in your application module --> configuration change the connection type from jdbc URL to JDBC DataSource
4) at the end of your URL of the deployed application don't insert the ".jspx" after your page name

I'm trying to create an applescript to install printers - cant seem to get it to work

So I'm running 10.7and I'm trying to create an applescript to install printers. I'm able to run the first command without issues but the other two keeps giving me error messages in applescript.
I assume its because the other two commands have spaces?
These are the commands I run when in Terminal:
/usr/sbin/lpadmin -p CX560 -E -v lpd://CX560/print -P /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/US-Letter/CX560_V1.PPD -D FireStationCX560

This is the only command I can successfully run in AppleScipt:

First things, when you post about a script and/or any errors you are getting it is a good idea to include the scrtpt and the exact error message you are getting. Just makes it easier to try and help.
You're right about the spaces being the problem. You need to double escape them. That is
/usr/sbin/lpadmin -p CX560-WORD -E -v lpd://CX560/print -P /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/Xerox\\ Color\ EX\\ 550-560 -D FireStationCX560-WORD
that should do it. If you;re still getting errors post bask with the error message.

Pushing Adobe 8 with Zenworks problem

I am having a problem pushing Adobe 8 Pro with Zenworks. I push just the MSI from the CD and on first run an EPIC_APP error occurs and shuts down the program. The exact error is, "A serious error has been detected and Adobe EPIC_APP cannot continue. Please re-install the application and try again."
At first I was thinking this was being caused by an MST I created using the Adobe 8 Customizatino Wizard, but the last push I tried I just pushed the MSI and got the same error.
I am pushing to the workstation and not the user.
Is setup.exe doing something that the MSI is not?

I'm having the same problem here. Also pushing the msi+mst created with the Adobe 8 Customizatino Wizard with ZenWorks. It seems it is a licensing problem. Because when I download a so called "E-license" from the Help menu Acrobat doesn't prompt me with the EPIC_APP warning anymore.
Have you tried anything else yet? With any results maybe? I want my users to just do an unattended install and run the application without any registration pop-ups....
