Integrate Acrobat updates into install (Slipstream)

We use SCCM 2007 R3 in our corporate environment.  We need to deploy Acrobat 10 and 11 Std and Pro.  Is there a (realativly) easy way to integrate Adobe patches for each product into a single package?  I don't want to install Acrobat 10.0.0 Pro, but need the latest patched version without making multiple installs.
For Adobe CS5/6 products like Illustrator and Photoshop, we could use the Adobe Application Manager Entepris4e Edition (AAMEE) to integrate these updates into one install.  Baffled at why Adobe does not do this for Acrobat.

It's called Administrative Installation Point (AIP)

  • Acrobat Update not installed

We deploy Adobe 9 Standard through Altiris.  The problem is that the option to run updates is not present on the Help menu, even when being run with an administrator login (we are Windows XP).  I have looked through Program Files\Common Files and in the Adobe folder and found an UpdateInstalled.  This installed the 9.2 update, but this did not add the Updates feature to the Help menu.  How do I get the AdobeARM installed to be able to auto update the program?

  • Acrobat update destroyed install

Yesterday I received an update for Adobe Acrobat CS3 through the Adobe Update Manager.  After I performed the update, my entire Adobe directory disapeared (I had created an NTFS alias to the Adobe directory and moved it to a different drive on my computer).  Evidentially the update somehow broke the link and deleted the Adobe directory on the second drive.
I inserted my original CS3 Web Premium disk in the drive and it noticed that I needed to repair my installation.  Everything was restored except for Acrobat.
    Now what?

    Hi Ryan,
    I'd like to help!
I don't know if one can remove this from a deploy package, but if that can happen - the documentation for customizing an Acrobat installer can be found here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/index.html.
Let me know if that works for you!

  • Can I integrate Mac OS X 10.6.2 Update into a 10.6 DVD?

    Hi there,
It's my first post on this forum. I am kind of new on Mac family.
Well, I have been planning to reinstall Snow Leopard on my MBP as it is getting slow. My question is; for windows we can slipstream the updates (for example: we can slipstream XP SP3 into a WinXP CD contents), is it possible for mac? It seems to me a bit time consuming as I need to install 10.6 first and then I need to install the huge update. It would be much better if someone can integrate (Slipstream) the update into 10.6 so that when someone installs Snow leopard, it would be 10.6.2.
    Is it possible?
P.S: Sorry for my bad English.
    Message was edited by: ilovethefallenstar

    AFAIK, this is not possible.
However, it should not be necessary to reinstall the OS to cure slowdowns. (This isn't Windows!) Better to try to diagnose the source of the problem & eliminate it once & for all.
Start by running Disk Utility to verify that the startup disk is OK & then that permissions are not mis-set. Make sure your startup drive isn't nearly full & that you maintain at least 10 to 15 GB free for the system's temporary file use. Use Activity Monitor to see if any processes are using unusually large amounts of CPU time & if so, investigate why. (Apps may be out-of-date or incompatible with Snow Leopard, for instance.) Check for third party *startup items* (/Library/StartupItems & /System/Library/StartupItems are normally empty) & *login items* (listed in System Preferences > Accounts > login Items tab) that may be unnecessarily using system resources.
Also try to avoid system hacks & "enhancers," especially those that add menu items to the right side of the menu bar. If you must have them, make sure they are the latest versions & tested with Snow Leopard.

  • Slipstreaming 10.5.x updates into leopard installation dvd

How is it possible to slipstream updates into a leopard installation DVD?
For example, how can one integrate the recently released 10.5.1 update into a 10.5 installation DVD? If this is possible, the installation could be more efficient, because it's not necessary to update afterwards everything from scratch.
I've been searching the internet, but apparently there isn't any information about this, which has been common practice with service packs for windows.

@My White Dog, I repeat: First installing files and then replacing them afterwards isn't very efficient isn't it?
@Core, if Slipy (not spelled as Slippy) could integrate these files into one, it would have been possible at least.
    Some information about Slipy:

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Install with all Updates - Transform Issues

I'm new here so forgive me if this has already been answered someplace and I missed it.
I am running windows XP SP3 and have Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard installed on my system.
I am attempting up install version 9 standard with all the updates (9.1 through 9.4).  I have used the Csutomization Wizard 9 to assist in this process and I have also downloaded and save all the update files in the same folder as the AcroStan.msi file.  Below is my setup.ini file contents.  when I run setup I get the following message "Error applying transforms.  Verify that the specified transform paths are valid."  Any help would be apprciated.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - Installing Update

I have just needed to re-install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
    After the install I had to complete all following updates v 9.10, 9.11, 9.12, 9.13, 9.20, 9.30, 9.31, 9.32, 9.33, 9.34, 9.40 and 9.41
A rather lenghty process but did this to make sure all the elements of Acrobat have been installed.
    My question
is is necessary to install all the update like I have - or is it possible to choose the latest available update?
Probably a good question for Adobe Technical to answer.

When I try to update my copy of Adobe Reader, I get

Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.

  • Cannot update new install of Acrobat Pro 9

After installing a trial version of CS5.5 Master collection (which included Acrobat 10), my purchased Acrobat 9 Pro was removed (or otherwise hidden) from my machine. After evaluating the different software choices in the master collection, I uninstalled the entire suite and installed my newly purchased production pro suite. Since production pro does not include Acrobat, I re-installed my purchased copy of Acrobat 9 Pro. Since it was installed from the installation DVD, updates are necessary. Everytime I try to update Acrobat 9 pro, I get the following error: "Adobe Updater Install Manager has stopped working". Also, everytime I open my outlook 2010 client, it crashes and recommends that I disable the pdf plug in from Adobe (which I have now disabled). I've looked over the internet and could not find a solution to the problem. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    Good day Patrick,
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble.  Please give the following steps a try after a fresh restart of your system:
Repair your current Acrobat 9 installation via Help > Repair Acrobat Installation
Try to update Acrobat via Help > Check for Updates.
If the update fails, try to manually apply the Acrobat 9.1 update via direct download here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4375
Assuming the Acrobat 9.1 update successfully installs, please try continuing to update Acrobat all the way to 9.5 via Help > Check for Updates.
Please let me know how it goes and if the issue with Outlook clears up too.
    Kind regards,
    David

  • Do I have to install acrobat updates in sequence?

I choose to disable Acrobat automatic updates and install them manually.  I find the end users don't install updates and usually ignore the acrobat updates icons.
The only issue is that I'm not able to install the latest updates unless I go through each previous update first.  For example I have Acrobat 11.0.0 from DVD and I want to update to 11.0.9 but it fails unless I install 11.0.1, 11.0.2, 11.0.3 and so on. This seems silly. To bring Adobe Acrobat up to date I will have to install over 900MB of patches.
Do the updates need to be applied in sequential order?
    Thanks

The way it works if you just did a normal installation from the default installation file is as follows:
    - The base installation 11.0.0
    - The latest Quarterly Update (11.0.09 at this time)
    * Note:  If there are Security Updates between the Quarterly Updates then you need to apply those but as soon as the next Quarterly Update comes out you are back to first and last.

  • Acrobat 9.1 Update - Silent Install - Deploy is not "Silent"

Acrobat 9.1 Update - Silent Install / Deploy is not "Silent" or Quiet
When Installing and/or Deploying the Update for Acrobat Pro/Std 9.0 in Silent mode:
    AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp /q /l adobe91.log
    AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp /qn
I get a "File Transfer" like status window that pop's up.
It is very brief, and all is well.
The problem is we're trying to reach 0% intrusion on the customers that this will be deployed to.
Is there another slash that is missing or does the install process just have this and we'll have to live with it?
I ran the patch in normal mode and you can see the pop-up during the install process in-between:
Optimizing Performance and Publishing Product Information.
    Please Advise.
    Thank you.

I know this post is a few months old, but for those that still need the info:
Updating Adobe Acrobat Professional from 9.0.0 to 9.1.2
    1. Download the 2 patches, AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp (this updates to 9.1.0) and AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp (this updates to 9.1.2) and place them in the same folder.
If you are already at 9.1, you don't need the first patch.
    2. Copy the AcroPro.msi file from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Setup Files\guid (I didn't feel like typing out the whole string) to the folder with the patches.  This is where the setup placed this file for my installation of CS4; your location could be in a different spot.
    3. Create your script with the following 2 lines:
    msiexec /p "%installdir%\AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp" /qn /norestart REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus
    msiexec /p "%installdir%\AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp" /qn /norestart REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus
Substitute your path to the folder with the patch files for %installdir% above.
Obviously, this procedure is for updating Windows only.  This was only tested on Windows XPSP3 with Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.0.0 as installed as part of CS4 Master Collection.

  • Installed latest Acrobat Update to 8.2.1 and now I can't print PDFs

I recently installed the latest Acrobat update to go to Acrobat 8 Professional 8.2.1.  Now I can no longer print PDFs.  Also when I look at the list of printers it shows "AdobePDF (Copy1)" plus many more copies (see picture below).  I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.  How do I resolve this problem?

I was having the same issue. Supposedly, Acrobat 8 and Win 7 aren't compatible. I then tried the following steps and it seems to work.
    1. Right click on the Acrobat 8 icon and scroll down and select properties.
    2. A pop up box will appear. click on the compatibility tab.
    3. Check the box in compatibility mode and select windows XP (Service Pack 3), then at the bottom of the box, click on the box next to Run this program as administrator.
    4. Click apply then ok.
Let me know if this works for you. Good Luck!

  • Which file names verify Acrobat Standard 9.3.1 updates are installed?

Without having to launch the application and look at Help and About, what is a good way to check that 9.3.1 updates are installed?
What files would be on a PC with 9.3.1 that would not be on it if it only had 9.3.0?

How come the file version is not changing?
I built an AIP from 9.0.0 to 9.1.0 to 9.1.2 to 9.2.0 to 9.3.0 to 9.3.2 using all quarterly updates only.
The install function does not work when upgrading existing installs of 9.0.0 to 9.3.2 as can be seen on this forum by other users.
You are told to remove the existing installation manually.
I used the work around of REINSTALLMODE=vamus within my msiexec script.  However the Acrobat.exe file details still show the version as 9.0.0 and when you open Acrobat and go to Help, About you see the current version as 9.3.2

  • Acrobat Updater plug-in fails to install

I'm running Mac OS 10.4.11 on Mac G5 Quad, 6.5GB RAM, and whenever I run the Adobe Updater for my CS3 programs, I get a dialog box that says, "A new version of the Adobe Updater is available for installation. Click OK to install it now.", so I do, and it downloads and starts to mount a dmg or something, then I get an error message, "Adobe Acrobat Updater plug-in failed to install.", so I never know if it updated the rest of the Suite or not, can't find any info about this. Has anyone found the answer to this? Thanks! :)

    Hi Meisha,
I have had the same problem for months now and cannot figure out how to solve this. I have seen another discussion with the same topic "Adobe Acrobat updater plug-in failed to install" but am unable to reply to the discussion for some reason. I'm new to using the forum.
Someone in that discussion (Donald Raymond) posted a command, but I don't understand how to effect the command nor how to reach him to ask him to clarify. The discussion link is here:
I wish that Adobe would address this issue and give a valid solution. Otherwise, I'm unable to update my CS3 products on Mac OS. I also tried to install a download of a new Adobe update manager, but that didn't solve the issue.
I hope someone can help us!
