Integration of CRM with legacy systems

Hi Experts,
We are planning to implement CRM on SAP Enterprise Portal. There are 2 non-SAP systems and one R/3 system in the system landscape at present, all to be connected to CRM which will be used as a front-end (with EP). Billing happens in the non-SAP system (Genesis?). Communication between non-SAP systems and CRM to be in XML.
Question:
Whether XI is required or whether it would suffice 2 use just CRM Middleware itself for the XML communication?
Any suggestions in this regard are highly appreciated
Regards,
Narayana

Hi Lakshmi Narayana,
For data transfer between SAP system and Non SAP(External System) .There are two options available.
1.Use CRM middleware with XIF adapter(External Interface)
2.Go for SAP Netweaver -XI (External Interface)
If you use CRM middleware middleware will carry the data in the form of Bdoc's(Business Documents)
<b>If use XI in the landscape:</b>
XI will converts the data into Idocs and push it to the FTP server,From FTP server external system will receive the data.
Allot Points if my post Helps!!!!!!!!.
Regards,
Sathya Reddy.

This forum will move to the New SCN as part of our migration to a new platform. Once we make that move, on December 5, it will become a read-only discussion. It will be searchable but will not be part of the site navigation.  If you have questions, please contact me, [Gali Kling Schneider |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/bc?u=6v4sgatytpg%3d].

    Dear Dr. Word,
I am a graduate student of MIS at Northern Illinois University. I took Dr. Yipeng Liu’s course of Advanced Topic of Information Systems using your textbook - Integrated Business Process With ERP Systems. Your textbook is great. I have a question to discuss with you.
On page 62 of your textbook, I don’t think the accounting process of purchasing supplies is correct. In the example, “GBI purchases office supplies for $500 with a check. Office supplies are expensed; that is, they are defined as money spent rather than treated as an asset upon purchase, even if some of the supplies remain unused. In this case, the relevant accounts are bank and supplies expense.”
Actually, supplies unused are assets of companies. Otherwise we don’t need an account called supplies at all. In the given example, I think we should credit $500 to bank account and debit $500 to supplies account. If at the end of the fiscal year, we used only $300 supplies, then we credit $300 to supplies account and debit $300 to supplies expense account. This is the typical process of supplies accounting.
“Office supplies are expensed; that is, they are defined as money spent rather than treated as an asset upon purchase, even if some of the supplies remain unused. “ This practice actually goes against the Matching Principle of General Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP). It’s not a good example especially in textbook, even though lots of companies are doing real business like this.
I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts of my comments on supplies accounting of your textbook.

  • Best Approach for integrating SAP CRM with Outage Management System

    Hi All,
We are moving towards deploying Outage Management System (Oracle Utilities NMS) to help localize the fault, achieve Outage Management and a transparent network with a near-real time stats. We already have SAP ECC 6.0, ISU, SAP PI 7.0 and SAP CRM 7.0. One of the challenges we are facing is to decide how should we go about the integration of SAP CRM with Oracle's Outage Management System.
Here is a sample business scenario,
CSR receives a call from a consumer and inquires about planned outages for a particular area.
This information is contained in the Outage Management System (OMS). OMS is SOA based and is hosted on Oracle Service Bus.
I want to know that is there any ES Bundles available for CRM-OMS integration? Should we go about Service Based Integration? What are the alternatives to Service based integration? Can it be done using BAPIs?
We receive around 1000 consumer complains and against every complain a ticket is generated in CRM. Now If CRM is integrated with OMS using SAP PI, the volume of the data being exchanged via PI is very much high and exceeds our licensed volume for SAP PI. So I do need to know the best practices for either approach that you may recommend.

does anyone have an idea about this one, I've asked this question in a few places and no one really seems clear about it.
Also, I've read here and there that SAP Business One is not a real SAP product. It was bought by SAP and is sold by them but has little do to with SAP's technology (R/3, SAP ERP, Netweaver, SAP CRM, ...), and that therefore they don't support it that much ? Is any of this right ?
I'm just trying to get my vision of the SAP universe clear.

  • Integrating SRM , CRM with MDM

    Hi
Could you please give links or documents that clearly (step by step) tells about Integrating SRM with MDM and CRM with MDM ?
    Thanks
    manian

    Hello Manjan,
you can refer the threads for CRM-MDM integration as mentioned below:
    Configure CRM with MDM !!!
    Connecting MDM to CRM
Integration of SAP CRM with non-SAP-Systems
To integrate the SRM or CRM System with MDM, you might be need some middleware like XI/PI in between.
You can configure the MDM generic extractor to replicate the referance data (lookup table data, Transaction-MDMGX).please refer the thread as mentioned below:
Re: MDMGX Transaction in R3-XI-MDM Scenario
you can also use the standard transaction "MDM_CLNT_EXTR" to replicate the main table data fro SAP System to MDM.I am not sure that this will work for SRM or CRM System. I have used it in case of R3 System. you can refer the SAP NOTE-1035601, 836985 for this transaction.
Also can refer the threads as mentioned below on MDM_CLNT_EXTR:
    Working of MDM_CLNT_EXTR transaction
    MDM_CLNT_EXTR Configurations
    Working of MDM_CLNT_EXTR transaction
    Hope this will help you.

  • Integration of Financials with external systems

    Hi,
I am strugling with an implementation where the client is not sure if Oracle Financials suits his business processes
    Overview of situation on Hand:
We do not have the product installed as yet at the client site
Products of Oracle Financials to be used :General Ledger, Account Receivable, Account Payable, Fixed Assets,India Localization Patch
Products of Oracle Applications NOT available for use :
    Purchasing, Inventory, Order Management
(All these areas are being covered by developing a customized Bespoke system)
    1.     Is it possible to use Oracle India Localizations (with regards to the excise functionality, for e.g. claiming of ModVat, the various excise registers that are to be maintained for e.g. RG23 A, RG23C,etc ) in the above situation (without implementing Purchasing, Inventory, and Order Management?).
    2.     Further, while passing the Vendor’s Bills (in Oracle Payables), one of the criteria for PO Matching is to check if the ModVat has been claimed. Is this functionality available in Payables with the India localization patch?
    3.     Does Oracle India localization cater for VAT requirements?
    4.     Is an Open Interface available to transfer Purchase Order data from external systems to Oracle Purchasing tables (which are shared by Oracle Payables the names being PO_HEADERS, PO_LINES, PO_LINES_LOCATIONS, PO_DISTRIBUTIONS, PO_DISTRIBUTIONS_AP_V (VIEW OF PO_DISTRIBUTIONS), PO_RELEASES (Blanket Purchase Orders), PO_LOOKUP_CODES) at transactional frequency? However, if the oracle purchasing module is not being used, can the interface tables of Purchasing be used?
    5.     An open interface (Payables Open Interface) is available in Oracle Payables to import the Invoices from external systems. While importing these invoices, does the system expect to have the Purchase Order data in the PO tables mentioned in the point above?
    6.     Is an Open Interface available to transfer Quantity Received/Accepted data from external systems to PO_line_locations table to enable carrying out of 2/3/4 way matching of Purchase orders with invoices? Can the 4 way mathcing be carried out in AP by just importing Purchase Order data??
    7.     Can the Credit Card Transaction Interface be used for uploading employee expenses / advances settlement (not carried out via credit card) directly from feeder system?
    8.     Is it possible to use Open Item interface (including import concurrent program) even though Inventory module is not being installed ? If yes, then we would like to use this interface for updating Item master from bespoke system..
    9.     Can Auto Invoice API be used to import invoices from feeder system / legacy system (via RA interface Tables) into the Oracle receivable invoice tables? Is order number as column a prerequisite for successful completion of Auto Invoice API?
    10. Where should the Masters be kept....OF of Bespoke
eg. Employee master, Inventory Item Master etc.
    11. What is the best strategy for keeping the data in Bepoke and OF related to Masters in sync?
I have got various answers to these questions .....but some seem to contradict each other.
    PLEASE HELP!!
    Thanks,
    Kamana

  • Integration Opportunity CRM with Quotation ERP without Material integration

    Hi Experts,
We have a partner with a SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP CRM 5.2
The systems SAP are uniquely integrated into the customer master.
Now they ask us to integrate the sales flow between CRM Opportunity with ERP Quotation, but without item data because the material master data are not integrated.
Is this possible? What problems can we find for the implementation? would be helpful if someone could guide me in steps.
    Thanks a lot,
    Regards,
    José Manuel Romero

In this case what you can do is to follow the reply that I posted to your other query on this and you can then skip to maintain the copy control settings for the Item to Item copy. That is, maintain only the Header to header copy control in ERP.
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks & Kind Regards,

  • Integrating SAP CRM with the SAP HR module using ALE/IDOC

    Hi,
We replicated HR data(employee and position) from SAP HR to SAP CRM system using ALE/IDOC.
Here I have one question,If I change the position to the employee in CRM system, will changes happen in SAP HR system automatically? or Delta changes will haapen? If yes pl explain.
Using change pointers master data changes flowsfrom SAP HR to SAP CRM .
    TIA.
    PV.

    Hi
    To integrate... between those systems
first of all u have to create message type to tose fields with t code bd52.
then activate that massege type in bd50.
and after that one u have to activate chaneg pointers globally with bd61.
if u did these thigns if u made any chnegs to those fileds that witll be reflected in the next system

  • Exposing legacy-system's service using web services

    Hi everybody,
I have questions about how web services can be used with legacy system.
Lets say I have a server serving stock data. The server is just POJO, it isnt web module, doesnt run on any J2EE container and client will request for data using my proprietary API which run over TCP/IP. My question is that what is the best practice or widely used pattern for exposing my stock service through web services.
Im not a web service expert so I think the easiest patter may be using web services as an adapter for my API. Ill use jax-rpc to create web services StockWS.war and deploy it on a web server running on the same machine with my stock server. The web services will, in turn, internally use my proprietary API to request data.
I can see 2 problems in the above approach.
    1. The need of web server. Administrator needs to start 2 processes; stock server and the web server containing StockWS.war. It would be great if I can get everything work in one process. Is there any framework or API that my stock server can internally use to intercept soap request over HTTP so that I dont need a web server and everything is encapsulated in one process?
    2. Performance. There will be my API sit between web services runtime layer and my stock server which may cause performance issue. If I can find a framework Ive mentioned in problem1 then I can get rid of the API layer.
    Please ignore my grammar mistakes.
Any suggestion is welcome, and if you have experiences integrating web services with your legacy system, feel free to share it here.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
With regards to your statemetn "SDN downloaded document says to Generate Webservice URL through ABAP"   <- can you tell me more please? references/links/attachment?
As far as I am aware, that the type of web service required for integration it a 'normal' Netweaver Web app server web service.
There are limitations about the complexity of the WSDL - see Notes:
1653655 - Limitations in Web Service WSDL URL usage in Xcelsius 4.0
1703839 - Limitations of Web service usage in Xcelsius / Dashboard Design
also , changes between SAP versions requires reworking the WSDL
Note 1625091 - The WSDL URL for web service which generated in SAP Enterprise Central Component cannot be loaded into Xcelsius
    regards,
    H
