Integration with existing business applications

Hi, could anyone share with us in what way OBIEE is commonly integrated into our existing business applications?
By a linked page embedded or just let users log in to dashboard or any by api or by webservice or any others?
Thanks!

Hi
please refer following links, so that you can get some understanding in using SOAP API of OBIEE with other technology(Java/PHP) web applications...

check below url in your local installation to see what are the web service methods available for you to communicate..

  • Integrating an existing struts application

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I tried searching the newsgroup with
    no success. tia.
I am trying to integrate the struts application found in the struts-example.war
file that I extracted from the jakarta-struts-1.1.zip file from jakarta.apache.org.
(I have successfully deployed and tested this war file to the weblogic server
so I know the application works.)
I unzip the war file into a temp directory and follow the instructions found in

After creating a struts portlet using the wizard and putting the portlet into

Have anyone got the answer from BEA ...

  • Outlook Express Integration with SAP Business workflow

    Hi,
There is a user requirement for Outlook Express Integration with SAP Business workflow for PR approvals.
They want a link to be put in there outlook inbox so that the approvers can directly release the PR's worklist without seperately login into the SAP system. We are using 4.7 version.
I went through some ABAP material where i came across T-Code SCOT and Program RSWUWFML to schedule a job to pull worklists. But Iam not sure about this.
I want to know that whether this is possible in first place and if it is then how can we do it.

  • How to use Portal SSO with existing BSP application

    Hi all,
we run SAP EP 6.0 here and have a single start BSP page of
an application integrated with the SAP appintegrator for BSP. The rest of the existing BSP application still uses
the login functionality based on CL_BSP_LOGIN_APPLICATION
and is not integrated in the portal.
Problem: If a user directly accesses one of the "old" BSP pages, he should be redirected to the portal to auth. him via SSO and afterwards the original BSP page with all its parameters should be processed.
How to deal with that? Is there a similar mechanism like with the BSP_LOGIN_APP in between for the SAP EP?
    Thanks for your help!
    -RAINER-

I think that doesnt solve the problem.
I have 2 systems: SAP ECC with all BSPs and the portal on another system. So I have to entry points: Via portal using the appIntegrator BSP or directly to the ECC.
As-is: If the auth. for the BSP appl. fails, the user is re-directed via the error page given in the service (SICF)
to a BSP login app. and from there to the requested page.
    No portal in this concept.
Must-be: A user is still able to directly access a BSP on the SAP ECC by entering the URL in the browser. It's not a must entering via the portal first.
So when the login failed on the ECC (no SSO ticket), he should be redirected to the portal for getting his SSO.
After he signed in successfully the user will be forwarded to the BSP page he entered in the browser the first place.
I can't see a way to use the URL iView. I am thinking of simply changing the login mechanism of the BSP using the portal login functionality.
The link you gave me offers an implementation of CL_ICF_SYSTEM_LOGIN. Any ideas?

  • CCME integration with Microsoft Business Contact Manager

    Hi Swinster,
    Apologize for the late reply.
What is your current situation? As JS2010 stated, also in this KB article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2101557
During the 'Specialize phase' of Sysprep, Sysprep.exe looks at the Last Modified Date of the ntuser.dat file for each user profile to determine which user profile to copy to the default user profile. However, the earlier cleanup functions of sysprep.exe
loads each Ntuser.dat file to make security ID (SID)generalizations. You cannot predetermine which user profile will be copied if more than one user profile exists.
How about we skip the copyprofile option?
Further, see if the following article would help to customise the user profiles settings:

Or we may consider seek help at the office outlook forum for the BCM deployment.

  • Portal integration with E-Business and Discoverer 10g

    Hello Everyone,
We have a R12 integrated with SSO/OID. We also have a standalone Oracle BI Discoverer 10g. We want to implement Oracle Portal here. One of the requirements of this project is to have a common home page for both E-Business Suite login as well Discoverer access. Right now E-Business Suite login is seperate and Discoverer home page is seperate (because it comes from a Standalone installation)
    1) What are the benefits of having AS Portal 10g for end users ?
    2) To begin with, we would like to go with the minimum portlets.
    3) Is it possible to have a common home page for both E-Biz access and the Discoverer acess after Portal integration ?
    4) Do you have some screenshots of how things look after Portal integration
    -Thanks
    Srinivas

    Hi,
    take a look in metalink Note:313418.1. :
"Using Discoverer 10.1.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i"
Look in section 6 - post installation.
Follow the steps and have a very good luck.

  • Use Sun Java Studio 2 with Existing Java Application

I have started using Sun Java Studio 2 and having fun and little difficulty creating a new Java web application from scatch. My question is where do I find information on Java Studio configuration to allow Java Studio to load up and modify Java server pages/forms in an existing Java application that I did not write?
The Java application has been created with Javabeans and using BEA Weblogic version 7, with a SQL-Server 2000 database backend.
Below is a bit of code out of one of the main Java forms.
    <%@ page buffer="256kb" autoFlush="false" errorPage="../../common/system/error.jsp"
    import="psdi.jsp.beans.*, psdi.jsp.common.*, psdi.jsp.app.wotrack.*, psdi.jsp.util.* , psdi.mbo.* , psdi.util.* "%>
I have looked around and have not found what I need to setup in Java Studio to allow me to load up a form and view it in the Visual designer, I keep getting errors on the psdi. references and cannot load up any pages.
I see on the server install ia folder under the main root <DIR> called <apps>, and inside the <apps> folder is a folder called <jsp> and in the <jsp> folder are sub folders for each main module within the application with all the related .jsp files. I have been manually editing the .jsp files using Windows Notpad and saving the changes. Then I rebuild the .ear file and my changes work fine. Since I have a lot of changes to make there has to be a better way than using Notpad.
My hope is somewhere is a point-by-point document on what to so I can use Sun Java Studio 2 to make my changes in a visual IDE.
Any assistance would really be appreciated.

    Hi Giri,
Yep, this I know,b ut when I do I get errors messages and am looking for some form of point-bypoint instuction that better explains how to setup up custom libraries in Sun Java Studio, custom tags, etc.

  • E-Business Suite Integration with Oracle Business Intelligence

    Hi,
To integrate E-Business Suite with Oracle Business Intelligence I have done all the configurations as specified in DocId. *552735.1* of Metalink. I have tested the configurations by logging in from EBS and navigating to OBIEE Presentation Services. I'm able to navigate with no errors but not able to view Subject Areas in the Answers link. I'm testing this with 'Administrator' user. When I directly login to Presentation Serivices with the Administrator user I'm able to see the Subject Areas.
Can anyone have idea what is the problem?
    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi,
Think I spotted the problem - probably specific to OBIA 7.9.5.
There is no "Authorization" initialization block: in previous incarnations (e.g. OBIA 7.9.4 and earlier I guess) there was a FndGetResp intialization block that assigned a value to the OBIEE "GROUP" system variable.
So I did the following and now I'm getting Subject Areas and Answers answers, but Dashboards still not working for me - maybe another issue.
    1. Create system variable GROUP, temporarily with initialization block "Authentication"
    2. Create initialization block "EBS Responsibility to Group" with query (note I've modified based on new session variable name RESP_ID goes to OLTP_EBS_RESP_ID in 7.9.5):
    SELECT RESPONSIBILITY_KEY
    FROM FND_RESPONSIBILITY
    WHERE RESPONSIBILITY_ID = 'valueof(NQ_SESSION.OLTP_EBS_RESP_ID)'
Set the execution precendence to include EBS Security Context and EBS Single Sign-On Integration
NB: Had to create dummy variable GROUP_TMP for the "OK" button to come up, will replace that with real GROUP in next steps
    3. Go back and edit System variable GROUP and change initialization block to EBS Responsibility to Group
    4. Go back and edit initialization block EBS Responsibility to Group and remove variable GROUP_TMP
    5. Created an OBIEE Group with name = responsibility key e.g. for my "SBA Administrator" responsibility, key = "SBA_ADMIN_KEY", so I created group named "SBA_ADMIN_KEY"
    6. Made your new group (e.g. SBA_ADMIN_KEY) a member of the Administrators Group
    7. Copy across rpd and restart sa / saw
Still awaiting response from Oracle Support ... so no guarantees this is correct and no guarantees that it won't break something else that Oracle suggests later!

Can I use the dbservlet wizard to create a dbservlet, which works with the existing business component? The business component module is created previously.

String are immutable so just initialize it with the number of characters you want.
You might want to look at java.lang.StringBuffer and see if that's what you want.

  • Integrating with existing DB

    Hi,
I'm investigating Kodo, and how easy it would be to integrate with
existing tables (relational obviously). I didn't find reference to this
    in the documentation.
Specifically, I want some tables to have BLOB/CLOB columns, but I don't
want KODO to touch/manage/even think about them. Is this possible? Can
I have control over the field name/column name mapping, and the DB table
    name mappings?
I also have a requirement of having a composite primary key for just
about everything. (The first part of the key indicates the company
using the database, and provides extra protection against invalid access
of data in a multi-customer setup). I have read all sorts of nasty
things about having to map my keys to Strings and back again. Is this
going to be an issue/performance issue?
    Thanks
    Q

I have an existing application that I'm trying to switch from Poet to Kodo.
    class A {
         private int a;
    class B extends A {
         private int b;
    TABLE A (int A_OID, int a);
    TABLE B (int B_OID, int a, int b);
Object identifiers (IODs) are globally unique (actually intercorporate
    for us).
If one object of A and one object of B exist, then there will be one row
    in each table.
Is it possible to map Kodo like that? It appears that attribute a must
be stored in the table A.
    Thanks,
    Joe Batt
    Abe White wrote:
Kodo lets you completely control the mapping process if you want to. Given
that you have an existing schema, you might want to try our reverse
    mapping tool, discussed here:
    http://www.solarmetric.com/Software/Documentation/latest/docs/ref_guide_pc_reverse.html
That can give you a good starting point. If you already have your
classes, though, then see the metadata section for how to control how
those classes map to tables via metadata extensions:
    http://www.solarmetric.com/Software/Documentation/latest/docs/ref_guide_meta.html
The end of that chapter includes examples for mapping some classes to some
tables. If you don't want Kodo to touch some columns, then just don't map
    them to any fields.
As far as transferring values to/from strings, Kodo includes the built-in
StringificationMapping (see the "factory" and "externalizer" metadata
extensions), or you can manage that process yourself. Kodo handles
compound primary keys without any problems or performance penalties.

  • Portal Security with existing JSP Applications

    Hello,
we have some existing JSP Applications an want to include them into out portal. They are currently running on iAS as standalone applications. But we also want to protect them using portal security.
How is it possible to use Portal Security for those JSP Applications.
    Regards,
    Frank

    Hello,
currently I don't need to include them as portlets.
I included the first Page as jsp Report... because of that, this jsp is secured. But my application has more jsps.
Probably I could set an sessionvariable in the first protected jsp and check it in all other jsps. If this sessionvar is not existing, the user is not allowed to see this application.
Currently I have no other idea.

  • Integration with Corticon Business Rules Server

Has anyone integrated the Corticon Business Rules Server into BEA WL ? The CBR Server can be deployed as a stateless session bean, but I am not really sure hwo to integrate a session bean into WL. Maybe sonmeone can point me to the proper docs. If someone has used Corticon, it would be even better!
    Thanks

There are two ways you can do it.
    1. Oracle Business Rules can be exposed as standard soap based web-services that can be consumed in OSB through Business Services. Proxy Services in OSB can call these BS created out of the rules services in their message pipelines.
    2. Second option is to use DIRECT-BINDING to communicate between a Rule based Composite and OSB. Direct Binding optimizes the communication between OSB and SOA servers at the transport level.
