Intel Gen 2 SSD 80GB Disk errors- OSX 10.6.2

Dear All,
I have 2 of the Intel Gen2 SSD's, I have had them in Raid0 since I purchased them, since 10.6.2 I have had continual disk errors in Disk Utility, I decided 10 days ago to ditch the Raid0 and use them singly, I did a fresh instal of SL, and then copied my apps from my Time capsule, all was fine but now I'm getting disk errors again, and really slow performance specifically on save dialogs from Word and from print to PDF, I have to boot from sl disk once every 48 hours to repair the disk, I am at the end of my tether with this, my SSD is running the latest firmware, my home folder has been moved from the SSD to my WDC black Raid0, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm tempted to go back to Caviar Black, SSD/Intel/Apple are not ready for the playground.
I wouldn't be tempted, I would go back to the Caviar. I'd make sure 10.6.2, your software, and any additional hardware you have plays nice with that and the disk doesn't become "corrupt" over time. I don't know how much time to give it, but when you're satisfied, clone that system over to a FW Drive or something so at least you know you have a good system tucked away somewhere.
And this didn't happen with 10.6.1, right? How long have you been using the SSDs?
It gets me that this is something that appears over time. That I believe you're saying each time you manage to get DU to report no errors, sometime afterward it does again. Well, as I recently had pointed out to me again, flawed drives do crack under load. But two of them? And for something you really don't want to hear, many of us out here using SSDs have just not seen this, so it's hard to think the fault lies with 10.6.2. Granted I have Vertex and 1st gen 80gb Intels, could this be something only affecting the second gen Intels? I haven't heard that reported either, but who knows, yours may be the first of more to come. I know there are people here using the 2nd gen, maybe they'll write in (MsB, where are you?). From what I've read, the Intels have had more issues than other SSDs, but not of this nature as far as I know.
So again, for my own clarity of mind only, you can get the problem fixed, no errors reported, and a short time later with use they just come back again, and you're saying that this has only come about since 10.6.2. It's bizarre.
Well that leaves one fairly obvious thing to do and one thing you really should do.
On the last, get DiskWarrior, it really is an outstanding program.
On the first... Go back to 10.6.1.
And on that also, tell us how long you've used 10.6.1 with the SSDs. Also, did you use the combo or Software Update to get to 10.6.2? Doing that, using SU, really has been a source of problems in the past.
Also, while every Mac of the same model should be the same, frequently that doesn't seem to be the case. 1 person is affected by something, 10 people aren't. Can you yourself point to anything that may be making your Mac behave differently than the rest. Any special circumstances like heat or electricity?
When I switched to SL it was a disaster for me until I did a clean install and rebuilt my system again. Many people were able to migrate things over successfully but that simply never worked for me. Not one thing could I migrate without it taking a toll on the performance of my Mac. I could never figure that out.
I'm trying to think of things that might make SSDs more prone to damage than standard disks. But then again, it's not damage is it. It's corruption. Anyone here know exactly what that means? There is data and file corruption, but disk corruption? Are they the same?
Well, lastly, and again, I can only think that by going back to an earlier OS can you be sure it's 10.6.2. If it turns out to be 10.6.2 only, then I would be glad to admit that's it, and be wary for my own benefit. In my case though I use DU, Diskwarrior and others utilities like Superduper a lot. I just haven't seen any indication of something similar happening. Please look into getting DiskWarrior. It's pricey but it's saved me on more than a few occasions and really I think it is worth it even if it is the only Utility program you can afford.
I'd like to see your SSDs working with 10.6.2, but if they can't and they work well with an earlier OS, personally I'd drop 10.6.2 and stick with the SSDs. On the other hand if you have only a certain amount of time to get a refund on the SSD's, I'd exchange them for new ones or get a refund and buy a different make of SSD.
It's a difficult issue and you must be extremely frustrated by now. But hang in there and I bet you'll get this sorted out.

  • Photoshop Scratch Disk Error OSX 10.7.5

I had a Mac with CS5.5 installed. Suddenly i got an Error Message on Startup: "Could not open a scratch file because the disk is unavailable...."
Unable to solve the Problem I Updated to CS6.0 in hope of fixing the Problem that way. It did not.
So i deleted the User and created a new one which worked, for a while at least. Now i have the same Error again!
After searching around a bit i found this Thread: Re: Photoshop Scratch Disk Error OSX Lion 10.7.3
In this Thread FocusCreative22 found the answer to that Problem. He suggested checking "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" in the Volume Info.
My Problem now is that either through having a newer OS version or only having the Startupdrive i dont have the checkbox "Ignore Ownership on this Volume". How to fix this Problem then?

    Chris,
Thank you for responding. I think you're onto something. I looked in disk utility to see if I could repair permissions on the scratch volume, as Lundberg suggested, however the option to do so was greyed out due to this message: "Not available because the selected disk is set to ignore ownership". So I went to the partition, pulled up the Get Info box and saw that the "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" box was not checked. I checked it to see what would happen, and although the option to repair permissions is still greyed out in disk utility, now Photoshop starts up perfectly, even with the problematic scratch partition set as the primary Photoshop Scratch Disk.
Is this the wrong way to get to the right answer?
Concerning your other suggestions, I was able to use Go To Folder to get to the /private folder, and I saw that it said I could only read. I was able to add my user account and give it Read/Write permission through the Get Info dialogue box (I fear Terminal unless I have explicit instructions). Is this what I want? I also looked into the /volumes folder and apparently there is nothing within it, unless the folders are hidden I suppose. I checked permissions of my main drive (startup disk, on which all my applications reside) and they claim that I have read/write privileges. However I'm only viewing this in the Get Info box; is that not the right place to see/alter it? Because this whole time the scratch partition also claimed that I have read/write permissions and that was obviously not true, as it only started working right once I checked "Ignore Ownership on this Volume". But it's incredibly confusing because I could save files to the scratch drive from Photoshop; I just couldn't choose it as a scratch drive.
The short question is: is it ok that I simply chose to ignore ownership on these disks, and that I messed with the /private folder, and/or do I need to do anything else?

  • Photoshop Scratch Disk Error OSX Lion 10.7.3

I have had Photoshop CS5 installed on my system for over a year, and it worked fine all this time under Snow Leopard. Now that I've upgraded to Lion, Photoshop will not open due to these messages:
Could not open a scratch file because the disk is unavailable.
Could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is unavailable.
The scratch disk in question is an 80gb partition of a 1tb internal hard drive. If I delete the preferences file (by holding down cmd-shift-opt when starting PS) then it starts up just fine. If I go into preferences and reset it to use the scratch disk, then next time I try to reopen the program I get the same 2 error messages and I have to ditch the preferences again.
There is nothing wrong with the disks, I verified them. And anyway, I've been using that scratch disk with Photoshop for the last year with no issues. It was only after I switched to Lion that this started happening.
I need to be able to take advantage of the performance increase that a scratch disk offers. Anybody have any ideas on what's happening or how to solve this?

  • Added Intel 310 mSata SSD 80gb

I just finished migrating the System partition on the 500GB HDD to the Intel SSD card. The Windows Experience Index went from 5.9 to 6.9. The Disk access component was 7.6. Physical installation was easy, but migrating the software was a learning experience.

I used Ghost 15 to clone the C: partition on the OEM HDD instead of the Intel Data Migration Tool. I probably would have used the Intel tool had I been aware of it, but I bought the SDD as OEM and there was no documentation included. The Intel tool is an OEM version of Acronis Home which should work fine.

  • Web-Disk on OSX 10.9 Give me this error: "Finder got an error: Network file permission error."

Previously I was using OSX 10.8 and Web Disk was working great.
Since I upgraded to OSX 10.9 Web Disk Dont Attach to my compputer and give me this ERROR:
FInder got an error: Network file permission error.
When I got this ERROR first time I searched GOOGLE and found this link: http://cammodude.blogspot.no/
    And I did:
To force all connections to be SMB1:
    Open A terminal window
paste in the following line followed by the return key(should be all on one line):
    echo "[default]" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf; echo "smb_neg=smb1_only" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf
    What the command does:
Creates a file called nsmb.conf  in your  home directory at the path ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf.
Adds directives to force SMB connections to use the SMB1 protocol.  This is slower but stable.
Then I could use Web Disk on OSX 10.9 after executing this command in Terminal.
But now I restarted my Macbook and now Im NOT able to connect to Web Disk and get the same ERROR.
FInder got an error: Network file permission error
After trying 100 times it attaches 1 time but then show this ERROR:
    Can't get <<class cdis>> "my.server.com/2078" of application "Finder".
If this happen then I can see the files in Finder and see the Contents and Size of files but if I open a PHP file in BBEdit then it shows BLANK.. But actually it is NOT blank.
Now Im stuck How can I solve this? All help is highly appericated..
    Thank you so much...

  • TS4027 Slow disk error message in 2.2.1 - even with SSD

hi, I've been using Mainstage 2 since September 2011 and really enthousiastic on the concept. However, with version 2.1 I had a lot of bugs. The main bug was hanging notes and that is really frustrating when you are performing...
anyway, i now upgraded to 2.2 which seems to have solved this issue but now i have a different problem. regularly MS comes with a slow disk error which could be caused by underperforming disks or freefall motion sensor. Well, because of that I upgraded to SSD and spend almost 300 euro's to have this fixed. after replacement I had a extremely fast notebook and thought all issues were over but I still get the errors! when the errors ossurs some sounds get removed from the output which is annoying...
if anyone can help me with this?

Hi Drew if you haven't resolved this. TRy this to see if the issue is a TRANSIENT object access error instead for submitting directly to Compressor. Do this to isolate any content error defects before making you distribution (older 2 stage workflow)..
in FCPX 10.1, make sure the projects Primary Storyline is completely rendered - select all and cntl+R (render selection or control+shift+R)In FCPX 10.1 watch the background tasks (+9) and wait for all the rendering to be completed.... (make sure no object errors)
in FCPX 10.1 export a master File/Share/Master File (+E) as PRORES 4xx and save it ~/Movies/Drews_final_master.mov (prores)
    in Compressor.app V4.1,
    create a new BATCH ,
    import the MASTER object ~/Movies/Drews_final_master.mov)
(and add your setting and submit it. (dont use FCPX SEND TO COMPRESSOR just yet! until you resolve this issue)
This process will avoid the use of transient  file storage areas that seem to be used in the FCPX to COMPRESSOR.

Perhaps, since you are under warranty, they may have a boot disk to attempt to run disk utility and see if the problem can be repaired before resorting to reformatting. Disk error may occur because of a number of issues (installed software, crashes, shutdowns, physical movement of the drive while disks spinning, etc.)
In addition you may want to boot in the single user mode to access the FSCK command as follows: The following is from the Apple support site
Mac OS X: How to Start up in Single-User or Verbose Mode
You may use a key combination when starting up the computer to enter single-user mode or verbose mode, either of which can be used for troubleshooting and in software development. This document applies to Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server versions 10.0 and later.
Steps to Enter Single-User or Verbose Mode
    1. Shut down the computer if it is on.
    2. Press the power button to start the computer.
    3. Immediately press and hold the Command (Apple) key and one of the following:
the "s" key for single-user mode.
the "v" key for verbose mode.
    4. To exit single-user mode type: reboot
    5. Press Return.
You have successfully entered single-user or verbose mode when you see white text appear on the screen.
Then you may try to repair as follows using the FSCK
fsck is a command-line utility that may be able to verify and repair a disk. If you can successfully start up in Safe Mode or use Disk Utility while started up from a disc, you don't need to use fsck. However, here are some situations in which fsck may be necessary.
Your Mac OS X disc isn't available.
    Your optical drive isn't available.
You can't start with a Safe Boot.
Tip: If you use a Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) formatted volume, such as with Mac OS X 10.3 or later, you probably won't need to use fsck. If you do use it for any reason, please be aware that benign error messages can appear.
If you're not sure how your volume is formatted and you can't start up from your Mac OS X volume to find out, type the following command in a command-line interface and then press Return: diskutil info /
If you see "File System: Journaled HFS+" returned, you have a Journaled volume.
To use fsck, you must run it from the command line. Unlike using your mouse to open an application to do something, you'll need to type a text command at the prompt (#) to tell fsck what to do. The Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities) and single-user mode are two examples of command-line interfaces in which you can type such commands. To use fsck:
Start up your computer in single-user mode to reach the command line.
Note: If necessary, perform a forced restart as described in the Emergency Troubleshooting Handbook that came with your computer. On desktop computers, you can do this by pressing the reset/interrupt button (if there is one) or holding down the power button for several seconds. On portable computers, simultaneously press the Command-Control-power keys. If your portable computer doesn't restart with this method, you may need to reset the Power Manager.
At the command-line prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy
Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
** The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
*** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***
Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.
Your computer should start up normally and allow you to log in.
About live verification in Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later
In Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later, you can verify your Mac OS X volume while started from it. This is known as live verification, and can be used in three different ways.
Option 1: Verify your disk using Disk Utility while started from the startup disk. To find out how to do this, see this article. Please note that live verification does not involve any disk repair, so if verification finds something that should be repaired, start up from your Mac OS X Install disc and use Disk Utility as described above in "Try Disk Utility."
Option 2 (advanced): Use the command line and the command-line utility, diskutil.
Start up your computer and log in as an administrator.
    Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities).
At the prompt, type the following command and then press Return:
    diskutil verify /
Note: Don't use this method to check non-startup volumes.
You should see messages such as the following during the disk check:
Could not unmount disk for verification, attempting live verify
Started verify/repair on volume disk0s3 Macintosh HD
    Checking HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Checking multi-linked files.
    Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    Checking Extended Attributes file.
    Checking volume bitmap.
    Checking volume information.
The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK.
    Mounting Disk
Verify/repair finished on volume disk0s3 Macintosh HD
Option 3 (advanced): Use the command line and the fsck_hfs -l command.
Start up your computer and log in as an administrator.
    Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities).
At the prompt, type the following command and then press Return to determine your filesytem ID:
    df -hl
Look for some lines of text that look like this:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
    /dev/disk0s3 37G 20G 17G 55% /
    /dev/disk0s5 37G 37G 641M 98% /Volumes/Storage
Make a note of the first "disk" name that appears after /dev/, such as "disk0s3." This is your filesystem ID for your startup volume.
At the prompt, type the following command and then press Return:
    df -hl
Then type the following command, where "disk0s3" is your filesystem ID you noted in step 4, then press Return:
    sudo fsck_hfs -l /dev/disk0s3
When prompted, enter your admin password, then press Return to begin the verification.
You should see messages like these during the disk check:
    ** /dev/rdisk0s3 (NO WRITE)
    ** Root file system
    ** Checking HFS Plus volume.
    ** Checking Extents Overflow file.
    ** Checking Catalog file.
    ** Checking multi-linked files.
    ** Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    ** Checking Extended Attributes file.
    ** Checking volume bitmap.
    ** Checking volume information.
** The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK.
    Additional Information
If you're interested in UNIX-style command-line syntax, here's a look at how a couple of flags used in our instruction can influence fsck:
The -y flag: Tells fsck that you want to answer "yes" to all questions about fixing, repairing, or salvaging information. This is the optimal approach, as answering "no" to any question causes fsck to stop. You cannot determine that all necessary repairs have been made until fsck completes and gives its final report.
The -f flag: Forces fsck to check "clean" filesystems when preening.

  • I purchased snow leopard and got a disk with OSX 10.6.3 but my macbook with intel processor and 1 gig won't update.  It restarts but doesn't update after disk installs

I purchased snow leopard from online macstore in Australia and got a disk with OSX 10.6.3 but my macbook with intel processor and 1 gig won't update from 10.5.8.  It restarts but doesn't update after disk installs.  Do I need 10.6.0 to install first?

Insert the Snow Leopard DVD, restart your MacBook while holding down the C key, this should start your Mac from the optical drive instead of your hard drive. Choose your language and install Snow Leopard. When it's done and you've restarted on your new 10.6.3 system run software update to upgrade to 10.6.8. Done.

  • Please see if you can help me with my Disk Error

I have read through a lot of issues on getting the disk error message and I cannot find the solution for me, so I will try posting this...
I have a new IMac 20" Intel 2.0 with 2 GB Ram and 500 GB Hard Drive with OSX 10.5
I printed the instructions for Boot Camp Assistant
I have a brand new copy of Windows XP Professional I opened the package it says it includes SP2
I created the 32 GB partition with Boot Camp Assistant
I have a USB Keyboard and Mouse with the Mouse connected to the Keyboard USB port not the computer as I read to do in one of the forums..
I chose the C: Partition 3 <BOOTCAMP> [FAT32} as indicated on Pg. 11 of the Manual
At that point I go through two progress bars that Windows goes through then, I think, Windows says it's going to reboot:
I get the black screen with white letters
    Disk Errorr....
click any screen to try again....
I can click all the keys and nothing happens unless I turn off the computer and then hold down the Options key. I can return the Mac OS but I cannot get Windows to boot.
I never get to the next screen to choose the Format.
I have checked the firmware updates when I try to download them it says I don't need them.
I really do need to still have access to Windows. The whole reason I switched to mac was because I read I could have both. I tried Vista and hated it. I don't want to hate my Mac. I hope someone can help me figure out what to do? I called Applecare, no help!!!!!

I too no longer get to the screen where I get to choose the format for the windows partition. The first time I installed it, I did and chose the WRONG option (leave the current file system intact). I used boot camp to remove the windows partition and started again, but now I get as far as setting up windows and then get a STOP system initialisation failed message. I don't get to choose the partition or the format. I would have thought removing the partition and starting again would have overcome my initial mistake, but apparently not. Unless this is a different error, which is possible, as many others here seem to have the same problem.

  • HP Pavilion g4 2131tx, Hard Disk Error after Blue Screen of Death

Hello! I do not know what section shoud i post this problem, I apologize for it.
So my laptop is freezing for a days after BSOD. When I leave my laptop overnight for downloading torrents, I always receive the message "Windows has recovered from unexpected shutdown." when i woke up.
I already disabled all non-microsoft services, start up items and yet the desktop is still freezing right after the welcome screen but the welcome screen does not load too long.
The desktop freeze for more than a minute then it will go back to normal again until my laptop went to BSOD
and received this error from UEFI "Hard Disk Error." after restarting.
I ran the Hardware Diagnostic Test and I got the result:
    Failure ID: RW042K-6MT6RP-MFPX1F-61BK03
    Product ID: 65H69PA#UUF
I tried cleaning up registry and defragmenting disk and still no luck.
    * My laptop is HP Pavilion g4 2131tx and still under warranty until June 2014.
    * I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Service Pack 1
    * My RAM is 4gb with a processor of Intel Core i7
    * My AV is microsoft security essentials
    * I am using Advanced SystemCare for cleaning up registry and defragmenting.
I was wondering if I could change my hard disk while it's still under warranty.
    Thanks for your help!

    Here is the Service Manual:

See Page 39. It can take any 2.5 inch wide 9mm thick laptop SATA hard drive. They are industry standard, interchangeable.
Here is one I would recommend:

This is a nice compromise with size, speed and expense. You could install an SSD for maximum speed. Post back if you need help with software or anything else.

  • Camera Raw Disk Error

When I right click on an image in bridge to open in ACR nothing happens. When I try to drag an image from bridge to photoshop I get a disk error message. I have also tried running ACR as a filter from within PS which results in a disk error as well.
I just got a new SSD hard drive put into my MackBook Pro 2 days ago. I did not transfer any data, the SSD started fresh with OSX 9. I first updated to OSX 10 and then downloaded the CC2014 versions of Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, etc. I have checked that they are all up to date. I also have the latest version of ACR installed (8.7).
    I am running OSX 10.10.1.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Check permissions on the files and folder where the images are being stored. It is possible that the permissions may be such that the image is not readable by the ACR plugin.
For example, from the Mac Terminal...
cd /<directory name where images are stored>
    ls -la <some image>.CR2
    What is the output?
    Alternatively...
cd /<parent of directory where images are stored>
ls -la /<directory name where images are stored>
    What is the output?

  • No boot disk error has suddenly occured with Bootcamp

    Hey all,
I have a Mid 2010 Macbook bro running the latest Lion on the factory 500GB Seagate HDD. About 3 weeks ago I installed a 2nd hard drive (an intel 320 series SSD 120GB) in the main HDD bay and put the SSD into an optibay. I loaded Bootcamp on my new SSD and then installed Windows 7 onto it. It has worked perfectly since then. I have been able to hold the option key and selct which drive I want to boot to at start up etc.
This morning I held my option key to boot to Windows, and I received the "No bootable disk - insert boot disk and press any key" error. Has anyone seen this before? I have read through a lot of forums and found this relatively common for people who haven't been able to start windows at all, but mine was running perfectly fine with no sign of errors. Note the it shoulded be my Hard drive caddy that has given up as my Seagate HDD is in that and I am using that atm.
    Cheers

    Boot from Windows DVD
Download Intel utility for their SSD and create a boot CD
Yesterday was critical updates for patch Tuesday.
My advise is to make a backup on weekends before

  • SBOD and disk errors-- oh my!

A month ago, a few weeks after I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion on my ~2010 21.5" Intel iMac, performance started to deteriorate, and the spinning beachball of death (SBOD) began to appear. (I do think the upgrade is a red herring.)
Safari seemed to trigger it most, though it happened at other times. So I disabled extensions and plugins, etc-- no dice. Then I looked at the console and saw that Kernel: disk0s2 I/O errors often happened when the SBOD appeared.
    Questions:
    1) I am hoping this is a hard drive problem based on the details below, labeled WHY I THINK DRIVE PROBLEM-- what do you all think?
    2) When I wiped my disk (details below) I neglected to save the recovery partition. How do I get this back?
    3) For some reason, I cannot boot off of my original snow leopard installation disc-- it always hangs after showing the bootup apple on the gray screen.
    4) I also cannot use the "D" key on bootup to hardware test the system.
How can I get my recovery partition back? How can I test my system? Do you think the hard drive will have auto-mapped bad blocks, or do you think an imminent crash will occur?
    DETAILS:
Disk Utility showed S.M.A.R.T. Verified, and said "No Apparent" problems with the hard drive (partitions) or volume-- though I am beginning to think that it would say a concrete slab had no apparent problems. I got SuperDuper (yes, I waited until I had problems! ) and tried making a current full backup to my time machine disk with SuperDuper, but it hung.
I tried resetting the NPROM and SMC, and around this time the iMac stopped booting-- it would hang with the spinning lines under the Apple on the gray screen forever. This happened regardless of pressing Command-R, or trying to go into Safe Mode. At these times, the top left of the iMac, above the slit, would get very hot. No fan would run.
I tried a number of things. Maybe the option key would have always worked, or maybe I had initially used the wrong key combination for NPROM, or hadn't waited long enough before restarting for the SMC. In any case, eventually I was able to boot again.
    WHY I THINK DRIVE PROBLEM:
This time, I got a USB drive (Seagate Backup Plus) and used SuperDuper to back up to it. There were several places where I had to delete files to continue. It always stopped at the same file until I deleted it. On a large file, I attempted to use "Curl -C - -O file://<pathname>" to copy, but it never could copy past a certain point in the file.
This makes me think the problem is indeed a disk error, as opposed to a cable, controller, or software-- unless the controller is hiccupping with a certain bit combination of drive address, which I guess is possible.
I WIPED MY DISK: Anyway, I got the drive backed up with some original corrupted files deleted. Then I used Disk Utility to wipe the original disk, and did one pass zeroing it out. Then I restored the drive.
The result is a wonderfully responding iMac again... but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The boot drive is failing, or you have some other hardware fault.
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • "No Disk" Error (premiere elements 11)

I have successfully installed Adobe Premiere Elements 11 on my PC:
         Dell XPS 8300
Intel Core i7-2600 Quad Core (3.4 GHz, 8MB Cache)
         • 1GB Radeon HD 6450 Graphics
         • 16GB DDR3 1333 RAM
         • 1TB 7,200RPM Hard Drive (2 x 500GB RAID 0)
         • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
When I open the application and click "New Project" I get the following error message:
    AdobePremiereElements.exe - No Disk
There is no disk in the drive.  Please insert a disk into drive
         \Devices\harddisk2\DR3
I can "cancel", "try again", or "continue".  The only thing that works is to hit "cancel"  (several times).  Premiere Elements will then open, but the error message will keep recurring.   Adobe Support (Chat) has not been much help.
Anyone else come across this?  This seems to be a common error in earlier versions (version 9), but I can't seem to find any good solution to it.   HELP!!!!
UPDATE:   Just as an FYI..while it's possible (but doubtful) there is preloaded software interfering, there is no other software (or viruses) installed on this computer.
