Interactive Movie

Hello
I am looking for some guidance; I have 4 clips shot simultaneous of a subject; from 4 different angles. I would like to make a clip that is “interactive”. The clip start from the shot head on and the viewer can click and have the clip continue to play but from a different angle or possible view it from two angles. I would like the view to be able to switch as they see fit to a different angle or multiple angles.
Is FCP X the way to go? Or is there better software out there?
Thank you for your help and guidance

  • Quicktime Interactive Movie Mouse Control

    I have a quicktime interactive movie saved from keynote with chapters added in.
    The file pays full screen but at 800x600 screen resolution, the mouse left click button is not advancing the presentation. If I change the resolution to 1024x768 the mouse works again. What is the relationship between resolution and mouse control and how do I get it to work at 800x600?

    Tristan,
    As Rick indicated in his post, the answer lies in "manually"
    pausing the slides by inserting click boxes or buttons. I just
    wanted to add that if you have already recorded your movies and did
    not use Simulation mode, you can still easily insert a click box on
    each slide to pause them.
    1. On the first slide, insert a click box and set the options
    as you desire (turning off success/failure captions for
    instance...just don't uncheck the Pause movie until user clicks
    option, otherwise you will change the "nature" of the object that
    Rick was referring to.)
    2. Size the click box to as small as possible and place it in
    an out of the way location on the slide. (We often hide it under
    another object if it does not need to be clicked such as when used
    in conjunction with the auto playback controls.)
    3. Copy the click box
    4. On the filmstrip view, highlight all slides that you want
    the movie to pause
    5. Right Click on any one of the highlighted slides in the
    filmstrip view and select Paste Object
    This will paste a copy of your click box in the same location
    on all slides with the same settings as your original.

  • QuickTime Interactive Movie Playback Controls

    When playing Quicktime interactive movies as slide shows full screen, are there any navigation options while remaining in full screen? I want to be able to jump to other parts of the presentation without existing full screen.

    If your movie has chapter markers in it and you're close to the end, the fastest way is to just hit the jump to next marker button (the right button on the click wheel, the fast forward with a line button) to get to the end of the movie. The movie will then stop playing and return you to the last menu you were in. When you go back to the movie, it will restart at the beginning.
    If it doesn't have chapter markers, the left click wheel button will take you back to the beginning (well, actually, it will take you back to the last menu you were in before playing the movie, but the movie will restart back at the beginning the next time you play it).
    P.S. There's no such thing as a stupid question. Not everything is as obvious as Apple thinks it is. And that is exactly what this forum is for. Heck, I've been a Mac user since 1987 and it took me a couple of days to figure out how to actually turn off my 4G iPod when I first got it. (Hmmm, put it to sleep and lock the controls, with the "hold" switch. Yah, that's obvious.)

  • Trouble with my interactive movie and navigation

    I'm putting together an interactive movie with button navigation of my portfolio using Flash but whenever I test the movie it keeps looping even though I've added a stop(); action to the first frame of my actions layer.  This is also interfering with my buttons which are not working.  I have modelled my movie on the photography portfolio from Lession 6 of the Flash Classroom in a Book and have checked my ActionScript for any errors but my syntax is error free.
    This is the Action Script I have added to the first frame of my actions layer to make the moview interactive so that when the user clicks on a button it will take them to the appropriate frame and play the instance until the next stop(); action so that it appears that the picture fades in on the screen and then stops playing:
    stop();
    btn1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage1);
    function showimage1(event:MouseEvent):void {
        gotoAndPlay("label1");
    btn2_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage2);
    function showimage2(event:MouseEvent):void {
        gotoAndPlay("label2");
    btn3_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage3);
    function showimage3(event:MouseEvent):void {
        gotoAndPlay("label3");
    btn4_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage4);
    function showimage4(event:MouseEvent):void {
        gotoAndPlay("label4");
    btn5_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage5);
    function showimage5(event:MouseEvent):void {
        gotoAndPlay("label5");
    btn6_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage6);
    function showimage6(event:MouseEvent):void {
        gotoAndPlay("label6");
    btn7_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage7);
    function showimage7(event:MouseEvent):void {
        gotoAndPlay("label7");
    I have seven buttons which should upon the CLICK even take the user to the appropriate segment of the timeline but the continuous looping of the movie prohibits this.  I also get several compiler errors when I test the movie for the lines below
    btn1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage1;
    btn2_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage2);
    btn3_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage3); etc...
    The compiler error says '1120; Access of undefined property btn....
    Can anyone enlighten me on where my error could be?  I have created buttons as symbols and labeled my keyframes as 'label1, label2, etc'.  As recommended in the CIB.  I can't figure out where I have gone wrong!  Please help1

    Location: Scene 1, Layer 'actions' Frame 1, Line 2 Description: 1120: Access of undefined property btn1_btn Source: btn1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showimage1);
    I get the same message for all 7 buttons.  I have defined my buttons as buttons in Flash and labeled them as 'btn1-btn', etc.

  • Interactive movies fail in Safari after Snow leopard

    A lot of folk use this site - Newtonian Physics and also Ecosystems. The pages use QuickTime movies - clickable - as pull down menus and as video illustrations, simulations etc.
    Since Snow Leopard the Quicktime interactive menus don't function. They "pull down" but on selection don't function and leave a black box where the interactive movie was. Not sure what Apple have done to break it! It would be good to get it functioning again - a lot of teachers depend on it. See for example.
    http://rubble.heppell.net/simulations/newton_home.htm

    They "pull down" but on selection don't function and leave a black box where the interactive movie was.
    QT Kirk,
    Believe he is referring to the "pull down" menus at the top of the "Newton" page banner -- not the simulations themselves.

  • Interactive movie controls

    Hi,
    Sorry if this a silly question or not appropriate for Premiere. I am creating a presentation for my company, a corporate looking one. I built one in Flash, which was fine, but a bit fidly, as the presentation was very long (about ten minutes) and with a huge amount of layers. I found the image quality to be poor on Flash, and as PowerPoint is out of the question I want to build it on Premiere. I have used Premiere before, not very experienced but I get by.
    I dont really want to have a movie that just plays through itself with no interaction. Is there a way to add movie controls, as in the first section of the presentation will play, then stop until a button is clicked (like an interactive PDF) and if so can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to use them?
    Sorry if this is obvious.
    Thank you

  • Interactive movies within interactive movies

    I have been creating a gallery for a client that changes preview images in response to thumbnail images being clicked, I have the basics working but now my client wants further interaction in some of the previews that include using buttons on the preview images that either open a web page in a new window or switch between more preview images. The problem is the new buttons that appear are embedded on the initial preview images (which are set as movies), and for some reason the interaction that has been added to these movies is stopped when run in another movie. Sorry if that sounds complicated!
    You can see how far I have got by visiting the test site here: http://www.nusphere.co.uk/glendalecentre/glendalecentre.html
    If you look at the gallery here and click on the item titled VIACOM, a window will open On the bottom left hand side of the window you will see 4 thumbnail boxes that switch between the preview images on the right. The second preview image has the numbers 1 to 4 on the bottom of it. These numbers are buttons and are set to switch to more preview images, but sadly it's not working.
    If you are interested in seeing what’s going on more clearly I have uploaded an FLA of that section:

  • Interactive movie player

    Hi everyone!
    I'm looking for a tutorial or help on how to create a similar flash movie to the Skins Interactive one.
    http://www.e4.com/skins/interactive-trailer.html
    Basically I want to make a video showreel that has the 'showreel' playing, and as its playing over the right bit, the link to the full video appears (like the skins one does in the top left). you can then click it and go to it, then when it finishes it goes back to where you were in the showreel before clicking it. (if that makes any sense).
    I would also like to be able move around the play/pause button to scrub where you are in the video.
    I know a limited amount of flash with as2, but always willing to learn!!
    I hope that all made sense! Please Help!
    Many Thanks, Dan

  • Newbie:  Help with Interactive Movie Clips

    I'm just starting off with Indesign and am already running into an issue on a seemingly simple issue.  I'm trying to create an interactive document that I will play movie clips when exported to pdf.  Ok so far so good.  I've inserted one movie and started to play around.
    1st issue - The only option I can get to actually play the movie when clicked is when the pdf export option for compatibility is set to 'Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4)'
                     How come no newer options work?  Using Acrobat reader 9 by the way and tried to toggle options such as 'embedding' the movie.
                     No luck with playing on any setting except 'Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4)'
    2nd Issue - Inside the movie options dialog box for this clip, there is an option for a poster that I can 'choose movie frame' as poster.  The dialog box       comes up and is completely empth with no video controls or anything.  What the deal with this.
    I'm just starting out and I know I'm not totally incompetant but I'm not very pleased with what I'm seeing right now.
    Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Don

    Here is some help for starter.
    For embedding, do that in InDesign. I think you know the movie will only play in the PDF.
    If you export to PDF 1.3/1.4•Non-RGB movie or sound posters aren’t visible in the exported PDF document.
    •SWF and MPEG movies aren’t playable in the exported PDF document.
    •Clipping paths applied to movie or sound posters don’t appear in the exported PDF document. Posters are resized to match the movie page item.
    •Movies cannot be embedded.•Sounds cannot be linked.
    If you export to PDF 1.5 or laterQuickTime is specified as the preferred player when exporting to PDF. To change the preferred player, you must edit the rendition in Acrobat 6.0 or later.
    If you export to any PDF version•Non-rectangular media frames don’t appear in the exported PDF document.
    •Hyperlinks applied to movies, sounds, or buttons are not active in the exported PDF document. However, you can add those hyperlinks using Acrobat Professional.
    •Rotated or sheared movies and posters may not appear correctly in the exported PDF document.
    •Any masking applied to movie frames or posters is not supported.

  • Win QT7 & interactive movies : Internet explorer gets in the way reasonless

    A problem when trying to see interactive quicktime movies in windows QT7 :
    each time i click on an active zone on the movie, i get an error message telling me that Internet Explorer can't find the movie(path). and a blank IE window opens.
    Other than that the movie reacts and plays fine, but each click on it makes it necessary to click twice in order to keep viewing the content (once for dissmissing the dialog box, an one other to close the appearing IE window)
    therefore it's absolutely un-usable.
    I urgently need a fix for that : the movies are all made on a mac with keynote, and this issue is not codec-related.
    For mysterious reasons, IE thinks it's involved when a click is made on the movie...
    On the other hand, opening the same movie INSIDE an IE windows through the IE plug-in works like a charm.
    But the CDs i Design are autorun and use quicktime, not IE, i can not tell my clients they have to go though the harrassing steps to get to the movie file and open it manually in IE (plus they where designed to be full screen...)
    It worked fine with QT6 (but for many a reasons i need my clients to have QT7 installed)
    HEEEEEEEEElP !

    Have you sent feedback?
    This is a problem that affects Keynote users as well, so they've been sending feedback. If the problem is easily reproducible (and it is) so that they don't need additional information form you, you'll probably not receive any response.
    These forums are for user to user support only, so that's why you won't get any response from Apple here.

  • Making a line interactively move on a map clip

    You've seen how a map is shown on the page and then you see the line with an arrow superimposed on it to show the route traveled across the clip (I do want it to be interactive not just one line all at once from start to finish). Can anyone give me step by step on how to do this. Briefly I want to show the entire world and start from NY moving on to California then on to Asia etc. Wondering if Motion would come into play on this? FYI I'm familiar with FCP to the extent for what I do with it - that is to say I'm not an expert or even an advanced user and am well aware of the fact that I probably only use 25 percent of it's capabilities. Thanks

    Do you have iMovie? That is a built in feature. Click on the button for the Animatic Browser:
    Create your moving map, then export to FCP for use.

  • Putting a quicktime movie into keynote?

    When I put a quicktime movie in to keynote it shows video controls in the raw set but when I export it to an interactive quicktime movie it does not show the video controls is there any way to show the videos controls?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    EDIT: The below answer is wrong. I just read again, No, you can't do this in Keynote. Sorry!
    Ohh, I think I get it. When you export as a normal movie, the controller is turned on by default. When you export an interactive movie, the standard controller is turned off. To turn this on for interactive movies, you'd have to have QuickTime Pro, open the movie, do a command-J to open the properties, go into the Presentation tab and change "Movie Controller Type" from "None Movie Controller" to "Movie Controller".

  • Interactive quicktime failure by keynote

    i am using keynotes 2.0 with quicktime pro.
    i am thinking to creating a quicktime movie, which can be clickable in last frame linked to a webage.
    i tried adding HREFtrack in quicktime pro but it fails.
    so i import the movie to keynotes and try to export to interactive .mov file. however, the end item does work in pc and mac's quicktime pro player but not normal players.
    is it possible to make the interactivity applicable to all quicktime standalone players?
    thanks,

    Welcome to the discussions, Chi Hang,Ray Chan!
    QuickTime Pro should only make a difference when creating content, not playing it. During playback, the Pro player and the non Pro player are the same. If you take a Pro player and then remove the serial number (making it a non-Pro player) does it still work? (remember to keep your serial so you can re-enter it later.

  • PDF is missing .mov files

    ID CS2, OS X 10.4.11
    31 page catalog with 10 interactive .mov links. They are not embedded as they a large. They appear to be properly linked. As I did each page I would Export the individual page and test that the .mov ran. OK. Now when I Export the entire catalog the .mov files can't be found. " cannot be found. The file may not be present."
    "Interactive Elements" is checked in the export dialog.
    What am I missing?
    Thank you.
    Bill

    The fine lined box is the outline of the "button" that is the movie prompt area.
    Are you triggering the movie by clicking the poster area for the movie itself? Or did you turn off the poster?
    Are you triggering the movie by clicking a button that plays the movie, or are you clicking the area for the movie.
    It's tricky to get rid of that fine line, but the best way to do it is to always prompt the movie by using a separate button.
    Also, you can get rid of the fine line by opening the PDF in Acrobat Pro and using the Tools> Advanced Editing (acrobat 8) and click the movie tool or going to Tools> Multimedia (acrobat 9) and choose the Video tool.
    Then select the movie area and under Actions delete the Action to play the movie on mouse up. That will prevent the movie area from prompting the movie and only let a button prompt the movie.
    And that will get rid of the line. (It's actually a lot easier to do than to write out. But you can't do it in InDesign.)
