Interactive report without a select... from satement ...

other than using a web service is there any way to create an interactive report with out using a select ...from ....?
I have been told that I am not allowed to use selects other than from a package.
Could a ref cursor be used?

Hi,
What is reason why your are not allowed select directly from e.g. table?
This might help

  • Features that are not supported by Excel in the browser and interactive reports will be removed from the saved copy

I Created a power view in Excel 2013 and uploaded to my Power BI for o365 site.
But when i click on my excel file it opens in browser,After that i click on File tab its showing me two option
    1. Save a Copy
    2.Download a copy
When i click on save a copy its showing me an warning below
Features that are not supported by Excel in the browser and interactive reports will be removed from the saved copy.
    Continue with Save?
If i continue saving it only saves an excel files with data only not the power view which i want to save with applied filters.
    Please help me for this

Just to clarify, when you hit the option of Save As Copy, the whole experience goes into a "read-write" mode in Excel services, which currently doesn't support authoring, just consumption of PowerView sheets.
Two mitigations that come to mind:
    1. Download the copy (as Brad suggests), rename the file and upload.
    2. Use the send to option of SharePoint online, give the file the right target document library (can be the same as source) and rename the file:

  • Interactive Report - Include Non-selected Column in Row Text Search

    Hi,
We have an interactive report that contains many columns. NAME VARCHAR2(30), TYPE VARCHAR2(30) etc and DESCRIPTION VARCHAR2(4000).
Normally the DECRIPTION column would not be shown (avalilable for dispaly via 'Select Columns' but not selected), however we need the default Row Text Search (ie direct entry into the search field instead of creating a column filter) to search the DESCRIPTION field wether it is selected for display or not.
This will allow the user to enter a term that may be contained in the DESCRIPTION to find records without trying to display a 4000 character field in the report - which just looks horrible.
    We are using ApEx 4.1.1.
    Thanks,
    Martin Figg

    Hi Ray,
As I expected this has got us very close. We went with the code:
    select
    facility_id,
    facility_name,
    '<span title="' || facility_desc|| '">'||substr(facility_desc,0,50)||decode(sign(length( facility_desc)-50),1,' (More...)',NULL)||'</span>' facility_desc,
    equipment_id,
    equipment_name,
    '<span title="' || equipment_desc|| '">'||substr(equipment_desc,0,50)||decode(sign(length( equipment_desc)-50),1,' (More...)',NULL)||'</span>' equipment_desc,
    from
rf_full_item_list_vwhich works well. The only issue is that when you download to csv you get the html tags etc as well. Put I am a lot closer to a solution than we were.
    Thanks again.

  • Interactive Report Link Column HELP FROM GURUS requested

    Hi,
I have an interactive report the data of which returns a file name for an image. I would like to use the Link Column (Link to Custom Target) option. The column in my underlying query has the image file name #ILINK#.
The Target URL is correctly formed using the #ILINK# bind variable http://myserver.mycompany.com/cgi-bin/oracle/img.cgi?img_file=#ILINK#;size=full
However, for the Link Icon (which I wanted to be a dynamic thumbnail of the linked image). The #ILINK# bind variable is not read. Is this because the Link Icon cannot be dynamically determined and must always be the same image?
I can get this working as a regular report using HTML expression, but I really wanted to harness the power of an interactive report.
    Thanks

    Hi,
in this case you could build the required html-tags in your SELECT statement, like this:
    SELECT EMPNO
         , ENAME
         , '<a href="blablabla/index"><img src="'||ENAME||'.gif">'||ENAME||'</a>' AS ENAME_LINK
      FROM EMP

  • Interactive report - exclude a column  from download

We have an interactive report that is filtered, sorted, etc by the user to get the exact set of data that they need to download.
We need to download only certain columns of the report.
We don't want the users to have to hide columns.
I'm looking for something like the "include in export" that can be specified for each column in a standard report.
I don't see a place to set that in an interactive report.
Is there a setting that I've missed?
If not, any suggestions for possible solutions would be appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi,
You can set column conditionally by request.
E.g. columns that you do not like export set condition PL/SQL function body returning a boolean
RETURN NVL(:REQUEST,'EMPTY') NOT IN('CSV','XLS','PDF','XML','RTF');I did example

  • Report without a selection-screen, just a dynpro

    Hi experts,
I wrote a small report, which reads out a file. After this I want to display it in a tablecontrol of my dynpro. In the dynpro there is a button to push the data of the tablecontrol in the R/3 via BDC.
Now I have the problem of a automatic generated Selection-Screen. Which has some fields of my used variables (e.g. file-name, file-typ) and even maybe 10 fields (input-fields and checkboxes) from the BDC program.
The fact is that it is not possible to use this code, simply without any "START-OF-SELECTION" statement:
    REPORT ZMM_REPORT01.
    TABLES: mseg.
    TYPES:  BEGIN of input_struk,
              matnr TYPE mseg-matnr,
              erfmg TYPE mseg-erfmg,
            END   of input_struk,
           tt_input TYPE TABLE OF input_struk.
    DATA: it_input TYPE tt_input.
DATA: wa_input LIKE LINE OF it_input.
    CALL SCREEN 100.
The error is: "Statement 'CALL SCREEN 100' couldnt be reached."
If I use the program-type M for PROGRAM and not type 1 for REPORT. Then fails with the necessary INCLUDE statement of the BDC program.
    Regards,
    Steffen

Short answer, use the apex_util.string_to_table to convert to a table; then you can either iterate through the table to generate a string of names, or accomplish the same with a bulk operation.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21676/apex_util.htm#CHDFEEJD
Encapsulate all this within a pl/sql function.

    Can anyone help me out???

I'm not sure I have a good answer for you, but in my experience blank screens are usually caused by failing weblogic, apache, or a firewall setting.
You might have better success getting an answer in the Hyperion Query and Reporting forum.

  • Interactive reports - Removing search field from html export

    Hi,
I have an IR with "download formats" HTML enable , set within Report atributes.
I disabled search bar (also search field).
    I have a button with request=HTMLD .
The html file saved is ok , except that it contain a search field.
How to generate the html export , without this "search field".
    Thanks.

    Hi, Andre.
    Thank you for your advice.
    I do, however, respectfully disagree.
Think about this from the end users' point of view. Most end users expect ANY criteria (lwhether it be a quick search filter or an explicit filter) to check all columns in a report, not just those displayed. If the user receives a "no data found" message after invoking a quick search filter, what should they do: begin adding each of the hidden columns one at a time to see if the "no data found" message goes away? That would get very frustrating. And I believe it would be equally frustrating if users got inconsistent results based on the type of filter applied. Using an explicit filter searches all report columns while a quick search filter only checks displayed columns-- confusing for end users.
This has been my experience and see these reactions from end users.
In any case, that's my two cents on it.
Again, thank you for your help. It is appreciated.

  • Deleted Reports are still selectable from catalog

    Hello,
I deleted some workbooks from the catalog with discoverer plus for olap (tools --> administrate catalog)
But when I start Discoverer the workbook-assistant comes up - and it still shows these workbooks! However, if I try to open such a zombi-workbook, i get an error.
And if i later click on "open", discoverer will only show me the existing workbooks. The zombie-workbooks are only shown directly after login. Why?
    regards,
    Tobias

    HI Tobias
This sounds like a bug to me. I would suggest you raise a SR with Oracle and see what they say.
In the meantime, I will dig around and see what I can find out.
    I hope this helps
    Best wishes

  • Apex Advisor does not like comments within interactive reports

If I have some comments within interactive reports,
    example:
    /* comment */
    select * from dual
apex advisor shows me an error message like this:
    Compilation error - ORA-06550: line 3, column 1:
PLS-00428: an INTO clause is expected in this SELECT statement
Does anyone has the same problem?
    Thank you!

    Hi "user1139516",
the problem is that if the first word isn't "SELECT" or "WITH" the statement it's not detected as a SQL statement and we fallback to try to handle it as an anonymous PL/SQL block.
For now as a workaround, but your comments after the SELECT keyword like
    select /* comment */
from dualWe try to change that behavior in a future version of APEX.
    Thanks

  • Export XML from interactive report

    Hi all,
is there a way to export the resulting output of an interactive report as XML (inline and/or attachment), like a normal report can do? (with FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R<region_ID>)
The download option for ir provide only CSV and PDF.
    Regards,
    Marco

    I explain my request.
I have a very complex SQL query, which is (much) more than 4000 characters and it works well in the interactive report.
As the interactive report is quite different from the normal report and the procudure FLOW_XMLP_OUTPUT_R<region_ID> doesn't seem to work, I'm obliged to create a report query in the shared components to get also the XML output, but shared report query accepts query less than 4000 characters long.
    Any idea?
    Marco

  • Select list within interactive report.

    Hello y'all,
I have a need to develop an interactive report and am lost in how to proceed. I am asking for your help. The report requirements are as such:
    - There are 3 types of records that will be in the report
    - The is a checkbox to associate the records to a particular event.
    - If the record is of a certain value, 3 of the columns in that record have to show as select lists.
    - The records with the other 2 values should not have the select lists, just show a null in those columns.
    - The checkbox must be checked for the select lists to appear.
    - The select lists are based on a list of values. The values are populated with an existing common function used in many of the application pages.
I am having no success in trying to get the select lists in the report. Has anyone developed an interactive report that uses select lists within the report? Is this even possible?
I am using application Express 3.2.0.00.27. Any help that you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
*** Got it. It has to be a tabular report with updateable columns. ***

    Hi,
I am not sure if the "equal to" condition applies to a DOM object... after all, a DOM object can be anything (any HTML element) not only a field.
Try using a javascript expression instead, like this:
$v('P6_IR_SELECT_LIST')=='Delete'UPDATE: Sorry, I just tested and "equal to" condition works for DOM objects... should have tested before posting!
