Intercluster trunk with Lync Integration

I have a customer who is looking to build a couple of intercluster trunks between 8.5 CUCM clusters.  Originally I was looking at doing a non-gatekeeper h323 trunk, but the customer has stated that they will be moving to a Lync-CUCM integration in the near future.  Question is is the h323 intercluster trunk still a viable option, and if so what do I gain or lose with a h323 trunk as opposed to a SIP intercluster trunk?

H323 trunk is still a viable option however imagine a call from Cluster A's 7945 SCCP phone to Cluster B's Lync client. It will be SCCP -> H323 -> SIP -> Lync client. Do you want all that protocol translations. I wouldnt just from a troubleshooting perspective but should work fine though.

  • Configuring Level3 SIP trunk with Lync 2013

Hi, I ran into some issues trying to configure SIP trunk from Level 3 and I was hoping someone here can help. We have our mediation server collocated with FE and SIP traffic goes from public IP, port 5060 via NAT, to local IP on FE, port 5060.
Level 3 provided us with one signaling IP and two RTP IPs.
I tried multiple trunk configuration settings and I can see that when I'm placing a call from Lync to an outside number I'm getting INVITE from Level 3 signaling IP, the session is established, phone rings, but there is no audio on either side. There's also
a METHOD NOT ALLOWED message coming from them, which doesn't tell me much about what's happening.
If I call to a Level 3 DID (assigned to my Lync user account) there's also INVITE from their side, but later I receive a CANCEL from them due to idle session. The phone never rings.
    Questions:
    1) Does anyone have Level 3 SIP trunks configured and can share their Get-TrunkConfiguration settings? What settings should I have for encryption, refer, sessionTimer / RTCP, and others? Level 3 refuses to provide any additional information besides IPs.
    2) Do I understand this correctly that when configuring PSTN gateways in topology, one of the RTP IPs should be entered in the  "alternate media IP" field? We have SIP trunks from another provider (which work fine), and they only use one IP
for everything, so I don't have any experience configuring separate SIP and media IPs with Lync.
Thanks, and let me know if I should provide additional info.

    Hi,
On Lync topology PSTN gateways interface, please check if you enter gateway listening port 5060 and enable TCP option.
Please also check if you enable refer support on Lync Server Control Panel, if you enable it please uncheck it.
You can compare the trunk configuration for Level 3 in the part “Sample Trunk Configuration for Level 3” in the link below with yours’, it is for Lync server 2010 but similar for Lync server 2013:

  • Exchange 2013 um fax with Lync integrated

    Hi!
We are planning to deploy Exchange Um and integrate this with our Lync enterprise Voice users. We are also looking at replacing some older fax solutions. When I started to read the Exchange UM documentation I noticed this:
"Sending and receiving faxes using T.38 or G.711 isn't supported in an environment where Unified Messaging and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 or Microsoft Lync Server are integrated. "
Does this mean that if we integrate Exchange and Lync we will not be able to configure FAX in Exchange UM?
    -UC

Right, but to be clear, there are other products for fax that work with AudioCodes/Exchange (faxcore.com) and we've implemented fax server solutions with Lync and Exchange UM many times, so it's not that you can't have the functionality, you'd just use another
    method to get it.

  • Problems with Lync integration in App-V Package for Office 365 ProPlus

We have problems with setting Lync 2013 to automatic start after Windows start with Office 365 ProPlus App-V Package made by Office Deployment Tool. We use latest version for both (ODT and download package) at Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.
We have done this for Lync 2010 and also for Lync 2013 (MSI installations) and it works correctly.
User can choose to start Lync automatically, but this settings is ignored and in virtual registry is set wrong. We look for possible ways to set this by GPO (in ADMX is not this option available) by inserting in virtual registry with Package ID and user
    SID in registry path.

Usually setting apps to auto start sets a registry key under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, but since this registry key is inside the virtual environment, Windows does not read it at logon.
The workaround is to either set this key in the native registry (perhaps by an App-V script), or easier still, just copy the shortcut to the Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder. Since you can't really modify Office 2013 packages with the sequencer, you'd
have to add this shortcut by modifying the deployment config file.

  • Lync integration not working after Exchange 2013 SP1 is installed...

    Hi,
I have two Exchange 2013 servers running and everything is fine, almost.
The problem is that on the first server we had OWA with Lync integration working before installing SP1, but after the installation of SP1, it doesn't Work any more.
The second server was installed with SP1 from the start, but we can't get the Lync integration to Work on this one either..
When we log in to OWA, it just starts to sign in but then says "there was a problem signing in, if this continues please contact your helpdesk"
I have checked the Exchange server for events, and i can see the event ID 112 everytime i recycle the Application Pool, so there are some connection between Exchange and Lync..
Have any of you Guys seen or experienced any thing like this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Lync Integration with BMC FootPrints Service

Gents , I have a question regarding integration between Lync and helpdesk ticketing system , I know that there is a partner solution for integration between SCSM and Lync , but I have a Customer who has different ticketing system Footprint Service Core.
11.5.0 and wants to integrate it with Lync Server 2013.
Any idea about similar solutions or partners that have developed this solution  before?
    your help is much appreciated

    Hi,
I am not aware of any partners who have integrated Lync with BMC Footprints service, however i dare say that if there is an API or SDK provided by this service then it should be possible to do some sort of integration between them. Ill ask some of my wider
team if they have heard of any partners who have done this and will get back to you if I hear anything different.

  • Best way to go for Cisco UC with Lync 2010 Integration

I have requirements to integrate Cisco UC 9.1 (single cluster) with Lync 2010. The decision is to use Lync for IM/presence and use Cisco phone for VOICE features.
Now I have two options which are Microsoft RCC and CUCI-Lync in my mind.My questions are:
Are CUCI-Lync and MS. RCC conflicting features? If not, can we enable both of these features and what could be the strong points to do this way?
Cisco Application dial rule and directory lookup features will allow Lync client to see the calling name displayed when making calls to the other Lync users. However, the inter site calls are sent through PSTN which does not accept the calling name IE in ISDN so the called party will NOT see the calling name displayed on the Cisco IP phone. In this scenario, would the Lync client still be able to see the name displayed on this call?
Can we have presence status updated to Lync clients when Cisco handset if offhook/ busy?
Appreciate for any feedbacks on the above. Thanks

    Hi
Firstly, Lync + Cisco often isn't the best solution - yes, Lync is good, and yes, Cisco voice is good. That doesn't mean that by having two systems you are getting the best solution.
CUCI-Lync works when implemented properly but it's not perfect.
Anyway.... I'm sure you'll properly pilot the solution!
    1. Yes, they conflict. CUCI-Lync performs more advanced call control than RCC and there's no real reason to implement RCC with it. The only case I can think of for that is maybe for Macs, as there is no CUCI-Lync for MAC. As I recall there's nothing to stop both being configured....
    2. As long as each endpoint has it's own DDI presented when dialing over the PSTN, the reverse lookup rules should still allow a correct lookup against AD (so if each AD account has both the 'internal' extension number and the DDI in attributes that CUCI-Lync uses for reverse lookup then it should display the name).
    3. Yes - you need to carry out the steps in the documentation that describe setting up 'custom presence states' for this to work though. People miss that a lot...

  • One Way Calling on Intercluster trunk between 4.1.3 and 3.3.x

We've encoutered a bizarre situation, one which so far even TAC is stumped on.
We just turned up a new site, running 4.1.3SR3b and have set up the usual intercluster trunks (non-gatekeeper) between the new site and our other sites. Most of our other sites are 3.3.4 or 3.3.5. Calls from the other sites to the new 4.1.3 site work fine, but when you try to call from the 4.1.3 site to another site, the phone rings on the receiving end for a split second (not even a full ring), then the calling end gets a fast busy. Detailed traces on both ends show the info getting to the receiving end, but when the call drops, this appears on the sending end:

We just tried the latest engineering special (63 I believe), but the issue remains. Has anyone encountered this before?
This occurs with either G711 or G729 codecs, with or without MTP's enabled on the intercluster trunks.

    Hi,
Did you checked the H245 Options in the CCM trace options?
I dont see any H245 messages in CCM.
I see that this IP Phone (43867) is registered to node 2.
Is this the SUB in PHL cluster?
    We sent a H225Setup sent to IP=10.12.1.12
    In the other side:
    H225Handler::SdlConnectionInd: from IP=10.40.2.11
If this non-gatekeeper-controlled intercluster trunk accesses the device pool of a remote non-gatekeeper-controlled intercluster trunk and that device pool has a second Cisco CallManager node, you must enter the second remote Cisco CallManager IP address/host name in this field. (ie. Cluster1 4 servers and Cluster2 2 servers
ICT1 has a CCM Group which contains 3 servers.
ICT2 has a CCM Group which contains the 2 servers
In ICT1 you need to enter the 2 server's IP addresses.
In ICT2 you need to enter the 3 server's IP addresses)
Make sure the order is correct.
In the incoming cluster I see IP Phone is registered to node 3.
Node selection for outgoing calls is controlled by which node the originating endpoint is registered with. If the originating endpoint is registered to the same node as the H.323 Trunk, the call is signaled from that node. If the originating endpoint is not registered to the same node as the H.323 trunk, a random selection is made between all nodes configured with the H.323 trunk
This error is the one which terminates the call taken from SDL in CCM SUB 3.
    SdlSig-I | CcDisconnReq | restart0 | StationD(3,100,92,87) | LineControl(1,100,37,2258) | (1,100,101,34868).1-(*:*) | [NP - HP: 0, NP: 0, LP: 0, VLP: 0, LZP: 0] Cause=41
    Temporary failure (cause code 41)
Normally this happens when GW, in this case the ICT is not registered correctly.
In CCM PHL, I see this:.
    000221594| 06/07/15 11:30:38.499| 002| SdlSig | TcpStopSessionInd | restart0 | H225D(2,100,39,33) | H225Handler(2,100,40,1) | (0,0,0,0).0-(*:*) | [R:NP - HP: 0, NP: 0, LP: 0, VLP: 0, LZP: 0 DBP: 0] PID=(0,0,0,0)

This means that TCP connection was ended. By checking the SDL looks like destination node send a RST at TCP level and thats why call finishes. But problem seems to be the CMH cluster.
If ICT configuration is fine I would reboot|restart ccm.exe service in the CMH cluster.
If after that it doesnt work I would open a TAC case so we can get access and check whats going on.

  • Exchange 2010/2013 co-existence and Lync integration

    Hello,
I'm looking at integrating Lync Server 2013 into my lab environment, which consists of a mixed 2010/2013 Exchange environment.
    UM - Exchange 2010
    CAS - Exchange 2013
    MBX - Exchange 2010
    MBX - Exchange 2013
I've been reading about associating CAS and MBX servers with UM dial plans, when integrating with Lync.
The Technet articles, and MS Press documentation I've read suggests that
all CAS and MBX servers need to be associated with the dial plan.
Does this include the 2010 MBX servers?
As far as I was aware, in a co-existence environment between 2010/2013 all traffic is proxied to the MBX servers via the CAS 2013 role?
Does this rule still apply when UM and Lync exist in the environment?
Also, does the 2010 UM server need to be associated with the Lync UM dial plan, or does the 2013 CAS server handle this traffic as well?
    Thanks
    Matt

So, just the UM server in 2010 would be associated with the dialplan, you won't even have the option to add a 2010 MBX server.
The traffic isn't proxied by the 2013 CAS, it's more of a redirect, and yes this happens.  A lot of what will happen under the hood will be somewhat transparent, Lync will determine where it wants to send the UM traffic.  You can
watch this in the Lync logger by watching SIPStack.
The 2010 UM server can be associated with the dial plan, but you might not need it unless you're trying to recreate that specifically in your lab.  Exchange 2013 UM can serve mailboxes on an Exchange 2010 server.
I would suggest just deploying it in your lab and watching what happens, that's half the fun. :)

  • Intercluster trunk restrictions

    Dear All,
Is there a restriction in creating an intercluster trunk between 2 call managers. I'm trying to simulate this in a lab environment where i have one Call manager version 10.5 connecting to a Call Manager 7.1.X to route some calls outside my lab CUCM to another one.
Do intercluster trunk need to match CUCM versions? i'm not really seeing any calls getting through across the trunk, in call manager 7 there seems to be no way to check the uptime of the trunk nor see if it's active. I'm using DNA tests to see if the call gets routed over de trunk and it does.
    Kr,
    Yannick Vranckx

No, you can have an ICT between different version, hopefully you're not using a SIP trunk, we only recommend that if all clusters are 8.6(2) and above, if you need to trunk with a lower CUCM version, use the old ICT non-GK controlled. Aside from that, the rest of the config is the same, RP, RL, RG, CSS, partitions, etc.

  • Microsof VX 3000 or 6000 Webcam does not work with Lync 2013 under Windows 8.1

    Hi,
The problem is that i cannot use the Microsoft VX-3000 or VX-6000 with Lync 2013 under Windows 8.1.
If i go in settings under Video i can see the preview from the webcam just fine, so it works there no problem.
Wenn i try to enable my camera in a conference it does not work, i get an error: Your video cannot be started.
Now, there are no Windows 8.1 drivers for the Webcam so i installed the latest Windows 7 drivers. Because of that this webcam does not work with apps, that is fine i understand the driver problem and the way the new apps work.
But this Webcam works with skype under Windows 8.1 and it works with Lync 2010 client.
The same Webcam works just fine with Lync 2013 under Windows 7.
Is there anything i could do so that i get this Webcam to work with Lync 2013 desktop client under Windows 8.1?
    Thanks

    Hi,
According to your description, it may be caused by driver.
You can try to install the latest version of Display Driver to fix the display issue.
Since there is no driver for Windows 8.1, I suggest you wait for updating.
You can also post a case on Windows 8 forum, thank you for your understanding:

  • Unable to install MBAM 2.5 with SCCM integration on named SQL instance

    Hi,
in production i am installing MBAM 2.5 with SCCM integration but during the installation it asks for the SCCM reporting services point and which it is unable to recognize.
whereas in my lab environment i have default SQL instance which has reporting installed, in that case it works fine.
can someone let me know why the issue is coming?
in the event log the issue is :  Description = "user domain\username is not able to get the lock at this time.Error:0x40480732"

For the integration part, You need to install the MBAM SCCM Integration feature on SCCM server. For compliance reporting in integration, MBAM uses the Reporting service point for SCCM.
When installing the SCCM integration feature, you need to provide the name of the reporting Server where Reporting Service point role is installed for SCCM. But it does not provides any option for the instance but for the Server only. We have two instances
for SQL. One for CAS and other for Primary site. We need to run the installer on CAS and hence need to connect to the SQL instance for CAS.
We have also tried with the powershell commands but it is not working either.
Is there any way to install MBAM integration feature on a SQL instance. As far as I know, it automatically picks the instance but not happening for me.

  • Getting started with EP integration

    Hi,
A company I work for has a .NET web application that they would like to integrate into the SAP Enterprise Portal. There are a few .aspx pages that should be accessed from the portal.  So, we would like to create a tab for our application and have a few links that open the .aspx pages.  Eventually, we would like to get the integration certified.
This is the first time I've worked with SAP.  From what I've read, doing this type of integration should be fairly easy, but I am not sure how to start.  I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to give me some tips or point me to some good source of information.
I've installed the NW04SneakPrevJavaSP11, which I believe contains everything I need for SAP including the NetWeaver Developer Studio.  I also installed PDK for .NET and it looks like it has integrated properly with Visual Studio.
When I extracted the content of the PDK for .NET, it contained two files, com.sap.portal.dotnet.framework.sda and com.sap.portal.dotnet.services.systems.sda.  I do not see these services in my Control Panel Services.  I've read that I must deploy these through the SDM, but I did not figure out how to do that.
Can someone please provide some instructions to get me started with this integration?  Do you have a simple example that adds a tab for an application in the portal and contains a link to open a URI?  What should I look for to verify that I have everything installed and working correctly to begin the integration?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Kenneth,
If you are looking at integrating .Net web application with SAP EP there are two ways of doing it -
    1. Uset the PDK for .Net and then develop the .Net applications using the Newweaver controls, finally deploy this .Net application on the Portal itself.
    2. If this .Net application is already built and running on a different server other that EP, u can intergate this using a URL reference ans enable SSO form EP to this .Net application. The effort in this case will be very less.
If you choose the 1st approach , then you have to configure SAP EP to deploy .Net applications -
    1. Configure the .Net runtime in EP
    2. Install the PSK plugin in Visual Studio.
The two SDA files have to be imported in your Portal using the Software deployment manager, the person who has installed EP will be aware of this.
There is also a pdf document on SDN which explains everything in detail about the configurations required for PDK for .Net.
    Regards,
    Vivek
