Internal mic in 12" powerbook G4 ceases to work after Leopard upgrade

I recently did a clean install of Leopard and now my internal mic is not working. I could see it in the system prefs, and the sound bar only moved if i moved the laptop. I reset the PMU thinking that would help, but now it's not even detecting the mic AND my sound isn't working anymore. I'm not sure where to go from here. ANY input is helpful. Thanks in advance.
*The speakers and mic worked befoe the leopard install.

I rebooted again and now my sound is back, still no mic.

Try this:
• Repair Disk Permissions
While booted from your internal HDD
Go to (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left column and First Aid in main column.
Click Repair Disk Permissions at bottom left.
• Download and install Mac OS X 10.5.2 Combo Update
• Computer will restart after installation.
• Repair Disk Permissions as previously.
Please do post back with an update.

Powerbook moving at a crawl after Leopard install...

Hi all, I installed Leopard on my Mac Pro and my Powerbook a few months ago. The MP has no issues. The Powerbook immediately started to slow down. However it wasn't until the 5.2 update that it's starting to feel crippled.
I am seeing the spinning beachball of death all the time, like when I try and click on things in iTunes (like the search bar). Programs freeze and I get the "program not responding" when I use quicksilver to switch programs, and even during normal Safari and Firefox usage. Even as I type this it's taking the typed letters an extra second to appear!!!
This machine is 3 years old, but never had issues like this until I installed 5.2! Now, I love Leopard but I am really worried it is obliterating my compy's processor and/or ram. I run onyx regularly and everything seems to work fine but I could use a little help if anyone has any suggestion on how to make my laptop work better under Leopard. Or should I go back to Tiger? I don't think I can add anymore ram (I have 2 1gb cards in right now) and I keep about 10-20 gigs free on my hd at all times.
Any thoughts/help would be appreciated,

I have had exactly the same issue. The newer macs seem to cope with Leopard but my powerbook g4 1.6ghz with 2gb of memory should be more than capable but does not.
Same probs, slow at startup, shutdown etc. That dreaded spinning beachball is back in my life again having not been a problem for a few years now.
I'm hoping an OS update will fix it but this should never have happened. Maybe it helps Apple sell their newer models...
I really shouldn't have to do a clean install as an upgrade should suffice. If anyone finds out why slightly older machines are being affected,please let me know.

Powerbook won't accept password after OS upgrade

My G4 powerbook hard drive started going bad, so I had the local Apple store put in a new one and upgrade the OS at the same time. The store did the data recovery.
When I now try to connect to my home wireless network, the computer recognizes the access point and asks for the password. When I try to enter the password, I get an error that indicates I am not typing in the correct password. Password has NOT changed since the access point was created. The password was previously stored on the computer, but all stored passwords were lost when the data was restored to the new hard drive.
Any suggestions?

If this wireless access point you are trying to connect to is yours, then I would go into the router and reset the password or change is. You can also perform a hard reset on the router so that you can connect to the network.

My mic stopped working after i upgraded to Window 7 on my HP pavilion 6700

I upgraded my Vista to Window 7 (64 bit) on my HP Pavilion 6700, my speakers are working but my builit in mic has stopped working.
Can any body help me with this....

Which part isn't working: the item doesn't appear on the context menu, or no shortcut is created? If it doesn't appear, it might not be enabled. If the shortcut isn't created, there could be a problem with the path to the Desktop.
Try here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons
Click Extensions and find deskCut. If it is disabled (grayed out), click Enable. If it is enabled, click Options, then Path and try changing it to a different folder, and then changing it back to your desired folder. Any luck?

Powerbook won't boot after Leopard upgrade.

I'll get the apple logo and spinning gear, then blue (kernal panic) screen, and that's as far as it will go.
I thought I recalled a problem with the Unsanity application enhancers, so I started the PB up in target disk mode and removed the one .ape...that didn't help...now I need help.
I've searched around here but cannot locate a similar discussion.

Hi Limnos...My profile says 10.4.11 since I have not gotten 10.5 to install yet. Never before had 10.5 on this PB. I was attempting to upgrade to Leopard from the retail install disc, but after the process concluded normally, the restart hung with a blue screen kernal panic.
I attempted safe boot and it would not do that either. I attempted to restart off the install DVD again, and it would not do that either. It would only boot into target disk mode. I have not tried anything else today, yet. Waiting for some advise from here, before I spin my wheels any more.

Early iMac (not Lion eligible), does my mobile me email address cease to work after June, 2012? Can one create an iCloud email address?

Cannot update to Lion on this early intel iMac. Now I find out I cannot move mail, contacts to iCloud. My question is, will my mobile me email address continue to work after June, 2012? Can one create an iCloud email address to use with iPhone and iPad?

If you own a iOS5 idevice like a ipod touch you are eligible to use icloud. This will preserve your current Email and Adress Book data after MobileMe dies next year.
Else you would need to purchase a Lion capable Mac or set up a Vista/Win7 PC with office2007/10 to use icloud.

Why has the Save Command ceased to work since I upgraded to Firefox 4 ?

Selecting and keying the Save or Save As commands produces no response.

Try to modify the pref ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled on the about:config page from the default value -1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the scroll pad work.
Close and restart Firefox after changing the pref.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

Slide show ceased to work on Leopard

I have slide shows created on iWeb08 which suddenly don't work anymore on my iMac running Leopard. The picture page shows OK but when I click "Play Slideshow" I get a blank page which fails to load. They work normally on my other Macs running Tiger. The same problem exits on Safari and Firefox. I've tried republishing the slide show pages but the problem persists.

AS ceases to work after opening animation

I'm following this tutorial
link.
I got to about page 5 when the codes provided stopped working for
me. If you look at the finished site, there's an animation for each
button and the animation is detailed in the actionscript. However,
I only get the "opening" animation, where all of the buttons fly
into the center so that they are clickable. After this happens, the
other buttons do not trigger the movement of the navigation. If you
can offer any advice on how to get those navigation animations
working, or where the problem might lie, I'd be wonderfully
pleased. I have all of the given codes in the proper places, I'm
using an AS 2.0 document, and I've checked the instance names to
match them with the codes. I can provide any .flas or files needed
to assess the issue.

Powerbook G4 17" motherborard failure after RAM upgrade???

I have an original, first generation PB G4 17" that I've used for 5 years. Recently, I had to replace the AC supply because the former one was bent when the laptop fell out of a chair. When I took it in to an authorized dealer here in Taiwan, to test the power adapter, I decided to upgrade the RAM from 1GB to 2 GB. Before I brought it home, it seemed to work at the store, although I thought I did not appreciate any performance boost when I opened multiple apps. Anyway, after I got home, I tried to turn it on, but it would not turn on. Thinking the battery was depleted, I hooked it up to the new AC adapter (Apple brand), and lo and behold it would not boot. I would shut it down by pressing the on/off button or just disconnect the power source (adapter and battery). It started to beep three times after multiple attempts. I took it back to the store, and got my original RAM reinstalled, and the same three beeps occured. I just got a call from the service center and was told that the motherboard has failed. Does any of this make sense? I have never had any trouble like this prior to the RAM upgrade. I just replaced the HD about 6 months ago. I'm just sick to my stomach...Any suggestions? Any input would be much appreciated.

We could discuss how you'd benefit from the additional memory, however, since the system isn't working, let's focus on the beeps.
When you start the system, it goes through some tests (called the power on self test or POST) before loading the operating system. If it finds any errors, it beeps, and the beeps are:
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
3 beeps means it doesn't find any memory that passes the POST test. The fact that this started up after the service center installed the memory upgrade is suspicious, however, if it worked in the store then stopped working later, it may just be unfortunate timing.
There are some company's on the internet that claim they can repair the logic boards, otherwise, Apple's solution is to replace them. In the US, some Apple stores offer a 'fix everything' service for $350, which is less than specifically replacing the logic board - perhaps there is a similar service in Taiwan.

Internal mic

I cannot get the internal mic on my Pavilion dv7 6154ea to work (Windows 7). Need it for Skype. Have downloaded some updated drivers, as recommended, but no difference. **bleep** expensive machine & only 6 months old & I can't use the webcam. HP were pretty good - their technicians were all very helpful and they phoned me back when I was worried about running out of money on a PAYG mobile phone. They arranged pick up and return of the system, and a day or two after I got it back they even phoned to check it was now working OK. That was very useful for me, as the microphone was fixed and another unrelated problem I had was improved but still a bit slow, and they ended up diagnosing a motherboard problem
Downside: I lost use of the computer for over a week each time, but they did let me out it off for a couple of weeks until a more convenient time.
NB If you have any other niggles about your system do mention them to HP at the same time, especially if it has to go back for repair. They can help you check what's causing it - you want to get anything that could be serious fixed while it's still in warranty!
In my case I also had an unrelated problem with the DVD drive, which they had improved but it still seemed slow. I mentioned it when they phoned and they took me through some tests which showed up a motherboard problem. If they hadn't phoned back after the first repair I might have just accepted it was slower than I'd like, and not done anything until the motherboard failed, possibly after my warranty ends!

HP Probook 4530s - internal mic does not work when on messenger or skype, webcam does?

I have an HP Probook 4530s. When I go on MSN messenger or Skpye, the internal webcam works, but the internal mic doesn't. I can't hear them speaking either. However when I tested my internal mic outside of these two places it works perfectly fine - problems?!

I go this issue very recently. What I did to solve the problem was probably mentioned before somwehre over the web.
First of all, I degraded Skype from the latest version to skype 6.1.0.129. Then I went in Skype - Tools - Option - Advanced Settings - Automatic Updates and click "Turn off automatic updates" and Save. I closed (Quit Skype) Skype then.
I clicked on Start (in toolbar) and in search area typed Device Meneger. Then in Sound Video and game controlers, highlite and right click on mouse on IDT High Definition Audio Codec and press Unistall. This will unistall IDT drivers from the system. You must restart your computer.
Once you come back after reboot, you must go again to the Sound Video and game controlers and remove the rest part of your driver. After reboot go Sound Video and game controlers and click "Scan for hardware changes" then system find your IDT Sound Card again. Please install the latest driver (6.10.6367.0) and reboot. After reboot you should have mic working while on Skype.

Earbuds with Mic and Skip Functions not working after IOS 6.0.1 update?

I have earbuds with a mic and skip buttons functions and noticed that mic and the skip music functions stop working after updating to IOS 6.0.1. Now when I talk on the phone the mic on iPhone itself is working and not the mic on my earbuds. Also when playing music he skip functions has stop working. Has anyone noticed these problems?

Phone restart > if that doesn't work then do a reset of the settings. Full restore would be the last option.

HP B110a multifunction ceases to function after Hp Update

I have HP Photosmart B110a multifunction printer which ceases to work after applying "HP notification of Updates". Cannot print or access HP Solution Centre (nothing works). Only solution is to use the installation CD to completely uninstall the HP software & then reinstall. I prefer to always update software but never do for this B110a.
Family member with same B110a also had this problem today after inadvertantly updating, so I fixed as above.
Very time consuming. Could anybody inform me why this occurs & is there a solution. BTW I have stopped updates (as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike)

Run the cd and select add a device. Should find the printer with the new IP address.
Another method would be to go to start, devices and printers, right click the printer, go to printer properties, select ports tab, select new port, click standard tcp/ip address, next, type in the ip address for the printer, next, finish. Make sure the printer is online.

Powerbook internal mic, audio line in

Is there any way to turn off the internal mic? Anytime I try to use the line in port, the internal mic creates problems. Also, is there a way in Garageband (or any other Mac program) that you can use to plug in a stereo and transfer cassettes to a burnable file? I haven't been able to get the line in to work right. Thanks!!
