International Language Support - locale
Under Solaris 8 I install many international language locales. These included packages 32 and 64 bit versions, such as: SUNW5lue, SUNWweuos.. I install over 100 different locales, many double byte, for Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Latvian and many others.
I am unable to find these packages for Solaris 10. I have the Language CD but they are not there.
Where can I find these locales?
Thanks
It sounds like there are really two sets of questions here. First, how do you configure Workshop Studio to accept a project that doesn't conform to a WAR/EAR structure? Second, how do you develop localized Struts web apps in Workshop Studio?
The current version of Workshop Studio works best with one web application per project in more of a WAR structure. When AppXRay analyzes the project it searches for the WEB-INF/web.xml and tries to establish the webroot. Most likely the /web-common folder is your webroot and the /web-?? folders are not being validated. The next release of Workshop Studio is much more flexible in types of project layouts that it will accept and validate. Based on the information you have already provided about the project, this should work well with the new enhancements.
Regarding developing the international sites, have you considered taking advantage of Struts resource bundles as a means of managing localization? Without knowing more about the project its hard to tell if this is possible. If the localized pages basically identical, I can imagine anytime you want to make even a small change to these pages it could turn into a labor intensive process.
Fortunately, Workshop Studio simplifies development of Struts/JSF resource bundles and localization. The JSP design views render resouce bundle values on the fly. AppXRay provides code completion for resource bundle keys at the page level, provides hyperlink navigation to the resource key definitions, and validates usage against the property file definitions. You can also switch the rendering to a different locale in the IDE through the Text menu -> Resource Locale.. option. At that point all of your interactions would update the property file for the selected region.
To see more of this in action, check out the Struts flash demo on Dev2Ddev http://dev2dev.bea.com/downloads/StrutsDemo/StrutsDemo.html

Q10 Less International Language Support Than 9700
My eralier posting is wrong. Noticed that Q10 displays Armenian Fonts clearly but not in Facebook Application. Therefore I must contact 3-rd party (i.e. Facebook).
Sorry for the wrong info.
I have a Blackberry 9700 and displays the Armenain Fonts clearly.
I bought Q10 recently and noticed that it doesn't display the Armenian Fonts, just squares with 2 diagonal lines.
Recent update (10.2.0.424) even didn't help.
Old technology 9700 seems superior than Q10Yes, iWork comes with both English and Japanese localizations and should switch automatically to Japanese if your wife's OS X account has the system language set to Japanese. You can probably also have it run in Japanese without the system being that way by unchecking English in the Languages tab of Get Info for the program you are using. One copy is fine.

Multi-language Support for Different Users/Accounts
Does anyone know if iWork has international language support? That is to say, ideally the menus should reflect the language settings of the user. I like to work in English but my wife is more comfortable with Japanese. We share an imac G5 and would like to both use iWork, even if it means buying a family license, rather than two seperate versions.

How to resolve this error? How to add Russian language support? Is there a bugfix for Linguistics studio?Hi Edgars,
The cause of this issue is that the Russian lemmatization dictionary is too large for ESP to actually handle and deploy.
In your output below is the following:
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetExceptionERROR: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.RuntimeException: dj exited with value: 1
We are aware of this issue, and have discussed this with our R&D team. There is a work around for all customers that do not customize tokenization/normalization or the content of the lemmatization dictionary in installing the ESP 5.0 dictionaries
that are shipped as compiled automata files.
To work around this issue, the ALS package, ALS_esp53_Russian_1_1_all, was created and released. However, this workaround will not allow you to edit the contents of the lemmatization dictionary. The workaround steps are as follows:
1. Uncheck all forms of speech for lemmatization.
2. Let Linguistics Studio deploy the dictionaries.
3. Note the error indicating the dictionaries were not properly applied.
4. Clicked the project in Linguistics Studio again and clicked the "deploy to ESP". This will run through the deployment, placed the spellcheck and antiphrase dictionaries on the ESP system.
5. Manually copy the lemmatization .aut files to the %FASTSEARCH$\resources\dictionaries\lemmatization\ directory.
These steps will allow you to edit all of the dictionaries, except for the lemmatization dictionaries.
We realize this is an important issue. Unfortunately, the workaround is the only way to address this issue. When considering the options around fixing the issue, it was found that this would entail a complete re-working the automaton compilation
process, and could introduce a high risk of regressions for all search environments.
Thanks!

French Canadian (3F) extended language support with RFC libraries.
Hi All,
I have a customer that is using the extended language French Canadian (3F) they have metadata in this language that is different to French (F). There is no language pack for this so I cannot use 3F as the language property when opening a connection to SAP BW via the RFC library (or in the SAP GUI). However BEx Query Analyzer allows the user to logon using the 3F language property and returns the data in that language too . I have searched and everything I can find regarding setting languages/locales requires the 1 character language code which would be F (French) in this case, 3F is internal to SAP. BEx manages this but is there a way to return the 3F version of the data for the user using the RFC library.
Thank in advance,
SimonAfter opening an SAP Incident it turns out that despite the fact that French Canadian only contains French characters (ie unicode not required), extended language support requires not only Unicode support but also the UTF16 LE code page (4103). So in order to support this the Unicode version of the RFC SDK library is required.

International Character Support?
Hi
The message I sent out for a share invitation included
umlauts (Für das Meeting heute); it arrived as "Fr das
Meeting heute" in Entourage on a Mac.The current version of the Share service does not yet support
international character sets. We are adding support for this in
Share currently and will provide more information about supported
languages and locales as we come closer to releasing a new
version. -
How to configure Oracle National Language Support for Hindi
Hello
I am Working on one library project and right now it is in foxpro.
it is working in local(hindi) language using c-dec software. Now i want to run this project using oracle national
language support.i have done lots of rnd on that but till could not get success.what's wrong with that?
Following the step i am applied for that
1 I have create the database using in8iscii character set. Because In8iscii support the Hindi Language.
2 Set the variable NLS_LANG = hindi_india.in8iscii in environment. I am using the Windows 2000 OS because
it supports the Hindi font(Mangal).
3 I am using the Oracle Developer as front end so using mangal font in front end i am able to display data
in Hindi format that's why i am selected Windows 2000 os.
4 I have done the special setting in Windows 2000 for Hindi.it is in controlpanel-regional setting-click the indic option
for india and in input locals set keyboard layout as Hindi also.
5 I also changed the Init.ora file and add the NLS_LANGUAGE = Hindi
nls_territory = india. now, I opens the database using this Init.ora file.
6 But It can't display the data in Hindi format.I could not able to display the data in Front End also.
So,pls help me in Oracle and also guide me in Linux platform also.
nullHi Nimit,
I have tried inserting Hindi/Marathi into an Oracle database (I have tried versions 8.0.6 and 8.1.7).
I created the database using UTF8 character set. The NLS_LANG was set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8. Inserts into the database were via iSQL*Plus or import. For querying I used OCI and Pro*C. The data for my app is being served up as XML. I have not tried Developer. The DB platforms have been both HPUX and Win2K, while the client platform has been Win2K/IE5.5 SP2. I have been using Code2000 as the font.
Did you manage to view the stored data using the export utility ?
Also, you can try using yudit to edit unicode files on Linux. -
Language support bug with iphone 2.0 software?
With 2G iPhone running with 2.0 software, I have noticed the following.
When I have "Settings -> General -> International -> Language" set to English, the Chinese text sent in my emails becomes corrupted in the email body, and other non-iphone users cannot read my message contents.
The Chinese text in the email subject, however, looks fine, just not in the message body.
The work-around is to change the "Settings -> General -> International -> Language" setting to Chinese as well, and then send the email with Chinese text. That will work, but it's annoying when you do not want everything on your phone to show Chinese.
Is this a known bug and is there a fix?Is this a known bug and is there a fix?
It could be that when the OS is set to English, Chinese email is sent in UTF-8 encoding, which is sometimes not supported at the other end. There is no way to change this on the iPhone I think. It can also happen in the ordinary OS X:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121808&tstart=60
Send me a test message in Chinese with your OS set to English and I can confirm (tom at bluesky dot org). -
Re: Native Language Support in Forte
[email protected] wrote:
I've been posed a question in the abstract about Forte's native language
support. Does Forte support any languages other than C/C++? And if so,
what are the limitations or caveats?
Native Language Support could also mean the NLS standard which Forte supports. This
provides for Internationalization (I18N) of a Forte application. This means a client
application deployed in french, german, and english (for example), could all be making
requests of the same Forte shared service and getting responses in the native language.
We provide for changing the language/character set displayed both statically before the
application starts, and dynamically change it while the application is running.
If support native language support means ability for Forte to call existing application
logic written in C/C++, then today you can "wrapper" C functions in a Forte Class,
instantiate the class and "call-out" to the member functions (your c functions) directly
from the 4GL object.
C++ functions are a challenge due to cross platform C++ compiler issues which at a
minimum include "name mangling" being non-standard for all the C++ compilers.
However, you can "export" C++ class member functions as external "C" functions so that C
code can call the function as if it was regular K&R or ANSI C.
If other language support is required, I have customers on the East Coast which have
successfully wrappered MicroFocus Cobol on HP-UX, and the ADA language. This is due to
the concept of all 3GL languages today support the concept of allowing for their
language to be called from 'C' (other possibilities are Pascal, Fortran, etc).
Here the only caveat is you need to be aware of the other language's "boot-code" may be
registering for operating system "signals" and not handling them appropriately. This
rarely is an issue these days.
If other language support means do we code generate our 4GL language to any language
other than 'C++', the answer is currently "no".
However, we do support exporting Service object definitions to environments like DCE,
CORBA, Encinca (a TP monitor), and the WWW. In our next release we will complete our
support for exporting services objects to Java. This will allow for Java applications to
call upon the power of Forte's Shared Services architecture. Using this exporting
concept, applications written in various other languages would be able to "call-in" to
the Forte shared service from the ourside world.
Didn't know what you were looking for. Hope the above hit the mark. If not, write me, or
give me a call.
Regards,
jimNot exactly sure what you are asking. Can you rephrase your question?
If your other server's locale is same as the one you configured then it should be ok. -
How can I get English language support in South Korea?
I'm British living in South Korea. A few times now I have needed to get in touch with support but the Korean site only has Korean language. My Korean is not good enough to have a conversation in Korean. Anyone know how I can get Englsih language support in South Korea?
Is there an official site where I can install a
language pack for Armenian?
Armenian reading and writing support is already included in OS X. The font is called Mshtakan. To input you need to activate one of the Armenian keyboard layouts by going to system preferences/international/input menu and checking their boxes, plus the box for "show input menu in Finder," then selecting Armenian in the "flag" menu at the top right of the finder.
Armenian requires a modern Unicode app and will not work with Appleworks or Word X.
OS X does not yet have an Armenian system localization (menu and dialogues).
If you don't have the things described above on your system, let us know. -
TREX Language support: Bulgarian
Can anyone clarify Bulgarian language support of TREX 6.1?
TREX 7.0 and above is described as supporting Bulgarian via mapping to Russian, though no details of how to achieve this are provided.
As Russian is a supported language at 6.1 I would assume the same mapping activity could be done on that version.
Anyone have details/experience of this set-up?Availability of Languages for TREX 6.1

I am running a Java 1.4+ application on a Mac OS X 10.4.10 Intel.
If I change the locale of the system to English, French or German, and I start my application, I can see the Application Menu translated properly. (I am referring to About/Preferences/Hide/Hide others/Quit).
Any other locale I am using(Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and so on) the application menu is not translated in that language.
Furthermore, by looking in the System Preferences/International/Languages the menu of my application is displayed in the either English, German or French depending of which one is before the other two. To give you two examples:
Sample one:
Italian
Portuguese
German
French
my menu will be seen in German.
Sample two:
Italian
Portuguese
English
German
French
my menu will be seen in English.
I don't use any <language>.lproj folder in my bundle.
By searching on the internet I found the following article that talks about similar issue:
http://lists.apple.com/archives/Java-dev/2004/Sep/msg00200.html
I was looking also in /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.4.2/Resources and I could only see English, French and German .lproj folders. I've created a similar Italian.lproj folder. It still didn't show my application menu in Italian language.
I am wondering if anyone of you had such an issue and how did you solve it.
Cheers,
BogdanThank you for your suggestions; maybe I solved your and my "problem".
I tried to translate and make a package.
I tried it on my Mac and now the menu is in my language (Italian).
If you want, I can send this package.
If you can help me, we can write a guide and publish it in a site.

THanks in AdvsWhere your database server is located does not matter, AIX or Windows or other os.
And AL32UTF8 would mean a Unicode database which means it may be used to store basically any language characters.
You need to look into client side locale settings, if e.g. windows pcs are setup properly or putty terminal configuration is correct.
Please download and use Oracle SQL Developer, as it is Unicode "aware" and can be used to verify character data.
In a Windows console window (cmd prompt), you need to take care of oem code page and matching char set part of NLS_LANG to indicate what's in use.

Chinese Language Support Package ?
When users try to open my distributed forms using Adobe Reader 9 they get an alert box which states:
'You need to install the Traditional Chinese Language Support Package to view or fill in this form. If you continue without installing this package the form will not work correctly'
Is there anything within LiveCycle Designer which can be changed to prevent this message from appearing when users try to open the form ?
Here is the script of my form, I have very little experience of Java Script but I cannot see any ref. to Chinese ?
Any Help would be greatly appreciated......

Internal Web Authentication + Local Net User
Hi all,
I'm trying to setup the WLC with internal web authentication + local net user account. I've setup a WLAN for this local net user configure the user profile map to this WLAN.
When the laptop get associated with the designated WLAN, and user tried to browse to the internet, the internal web authentication page doesn't appear on the browser.
I'm just curious is there any DNS server require in order to direct the user entered URL request to the virtual interface?
regards.Well if you are using webauth for guest users, you really want to have an open ssid and wither have a username and password on the wlc or use a passthrough webauth where the guest users just have to click submit or accept. If you are using this for internal users, then you really shouldn't use webauth since this will not be single sign on. Again, you can if you want your internal users to sign on again. There is wpa/wpa2 PSK and then there is wpa/wpa2 8021.x in which this will require either using local EAP or a Radius Server. Ther radius server will either have the local user accounts or you can point this to AD. Depending on if you use EAP-PEAP (certificate on the radius server only) or EAP-TLS (certificate on both the radius and clinet) you will need a certificate.
For webauth only, you do not need a certificate on the user or radius server, a certificate will be required on the wlc if you don't want users to be promted with a certifcate error message. 5.1 supports unchained certificates, but I always use RapiddSSL for a root ca cert just to make deployment mush simpler for the client. So webauth and EAP will require certifcates with webauth being optional.
