Intersection type confusion (or javac or JLS error?)
I am confused about what methods are available for a type parameter with multiple bounds.
Consider the slightly modified version of the jls [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/third_edition/html/typesValues.html#120149]discussion on type variables:
package TypeVarMembers;
class C {
void mCDefault() {}
public void mCPublic() {}
private void mCPrivate() {}
protected void mCProtected() {}
abstract class CT extends C implements I {}
interface I {
void mI();
class X
<T extends C & I> void test(T t, CT ct) {
t.mI(); // OK
t.mCDefault(); // OK
t.mCPublic(); // OK
t.mCPrivate(); // compile-time error
t.mCProtected(); // OK
ct.mCDefault();
}The modification are declaring CT abstract, putting the method test inside the class X and adding parameter of type CT to test.
When I try to compile this I get error
$ javac -g Intersection.java
Intersection.java:20: cannot find symbol
symbol: method mCDefault()
t.mCDefault(); // OKNote that I do not get the error for similar call to CT.
Is this something I have misunderstood?
Thanks in advance for your time and responses.
I found [url http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=5073060]bug 5073060, Package private members not found for intersection types which is the issue I was confused about.
Thankfully, I seem to have understood the spec correctly. The fix won't be available till Jaguar but at least I found a work-around.
Sorry to bother you all without looking first, but it was only because I felt it was probably my lack of understanding rather then compiler bug.

Javac generating Wierd error during compilation
Hello friends
I am reading Kathy Sierra and I wish to give SCJP exam.
Today when I tried to test the concept of protected V/S Default access modifier I got struck with a problem.
Below is the code:
package xyz;
class ProtTestParent
protected int x=10;
public class ProtTestChild extends ProtTestParent
public static void main(String[] ar)
new ProtTestChild().get();
public void get()
System.out.println("Value of x "+x);
If I try to compile it I get following error:
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\bin>javac ProtTestChild.java error: cannot read: ProtTestChild.java 1 error C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_06\bin>
Can anyone tell me what could be the problem??
Thanks
BR
SuvojitPlease use code tags around your posted code, it makes it much easier to read.
I see a couple of issues.
First, you are calling javac from the binary directory it is in - is that also where you put your code? If your code is in java's \bin directory - that's generally bad practice.
If java is correctly installed, you should be able to call javac from anywhere, because the java \bin directory will be in your path.
Also, the ProtTestChild code indicates that it is in package xyz - so the file has to be in a directory named xyz, and you have to call the compiler from the directory that contains this xyz directory. So, for example, if the java file is in C:\myJavaCode\xyz, you need to be in C:\myJavaCode, and type the command "javac xyz\ProtChildTest.java".
Try that, see if it works. I don't use the command line much anymore, so I could be wrong. -

"Auth type not supported by External DB" error for web-auth SSIDs
Hello
We're having a problem with web-authentication on our 4404/WisM controllers since we moved to software rev 5.x (currently running 5.1.151.0).
With software rev 4.x our web-auth SSIDs would send the authentication requests to a Cisco ACS4.0 which would then authenticate the users against MS Active directory.
Now (with rev 5.x) the same SSIDs cannot authenticate users against AD, the error in the ACS is:
Auth type not supported by External DB
Found the following Cisco Doc regarding the problem: Cisco Secure ACS and Windows AD EAP/802.1x port authentication fails with the Auth type not supported by External DB error message - Case Number K24308566. Done a packet capture on ACS to see authentications coming in and the ones that fail with above error are using CHAP - from the Cisco documentation, MS AD doesn't support CHAP.
Any ideas on how I can get the web-auth working again with software rev 5.x ?
Thanks
Andymy apologies - theres a setting under Controller - General for Web Radius Authentication. changed this from CHAP to PAP and its now working ok.

ORA-39083: Object type TRIGGER failed to create with error:
i m getting these two error when i import data using impdp.
ORA-39083: Object type TRIGGER failed to create with error:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
i have exported (expdp) data from production db, when i importing (impdp) the dump file to the test db i m geting the above two errors.
example:
ORA-39083: Object type TRIGGER failed to create with error:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Failing sql is:
CREATE TRIGGER "NEEDLE"."CC_BCK_TRG" BEFORE INSERT OR UPDATE
ON NIIL.cc_bck_mgmt REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD FOR EACH ROW
DECLARE
w_date DATE;
w_user VARCHAR2(10);
BEGIN
SELECT USER,SYSDATE INTO w_user,w_date FROM DUAL;
IF INSERTING THEN
:NEW.cretuser :=w_user;
:NEW.cretdate :=w_date;
END IF;
IF UPDATING THEN
:NEW.modiuser :=w_user;
:NEW.modidate :=w_date;
END IF;
END;
status of the above trigger in pro db is valid. and source table also exist even though i m getting error when i import
please suggest me...perhaps you don't have table... (impdp created trigger before create table)
check about "NIIL.cc_bck_mgmt" table.
and then create it (trigger) manual ;)
Good Luck. -
The thread that was deleted addressed what's probably a common source of confusion. To that end, here are the highlights:
class P {}
class C extends P{}
P[] arr = new C[1];
arr[0] = new P(); // compiles, but ArrayStoreException at runtimeC extends P, but C[] does not extend P[]. Arrays extend Object.
[url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/third_edition/html/arrays.html#10.8]JLS 10.8 Class Objects for Arrays.
It compiles because when doing the assignment into arr[0], the compiler only knows that arr is an array of P and that new P() produces a P. The compiler doesn't know that arr happens to point to a C[].
You get the exception because the array object you have is a C[], and you can't put a P into a C[] becase a P is not a C.<cite>
P[] arr = new C[1];
arr[0] = new P(); // compiles, but ArrayStoreException at runtimeC extends P, but C[] does not extend P[]. Arrays extend Object.
</cite>
What do you exaclty mean by saying "C[] does not extend P[]" ?
There is no place to explicitly declare an inheritance relationship between the two array types. But this line's getting compiled
P[] arr = new C[1];shows that P[] is assignable from C[].
Class.getSuperclass() returns Object.class for an array type indeed. -
Received this error (The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information.) recently on a workflow that was
working fine and no changes were made to the workflow.
I have tried a few suggestions, i.e. adding a pause before any ‘Update’ action (which didn’t help because the workflow past this action without incident); checked the data type being written
to the fields (the correct data types are being written); and we even checked the list schema to ensure the list names and the internal names are aligned (they
are), but we still cannot figure out why the workflow is still throwing this error.
We located the area within the workflow step where it is failing and we inserted a logging action to determine if the workflow would execute the logging action but it did not, but wrote the same error message.
The workflow is a Reusable Approval workflow designed in SharePoint Designer 2010 and attached to a content type.
The form associated with the list was modified in InfoPath 2010.
Approvers would provide their approval in the InfoPath form which is then read by the workflow.
Side note - items created after the workflow throws this Unknown Error some seem to be working fine.
We have deleted the item in question and re-added it with no effect.
Based on what we were able to determine there don’t seem to be any consistency with how this issue is behaving.
Any suggestions on how to further investigate this issue in order to find the root cause would be greatly appreciated?
CheersHi,
I understand that the reusable workflow doesn’t work properly now. Have you tried to remove the Update list item action to see whether the workflow can run without issue?
If the workflow runs perfectly when the Update list item action is removed, then you need to check whether there are errors in the update action. Check whether the values have been changed.
Thanks,

Using a BLOB data type in a CMP Entity Bean: Error when send large files
I've successfully impleenting BLOB in my EJB. But the main prob is, it can only work on small file which is around 3K. Any larger files than that will caused error (refer below). I got info from a friend which is using normal JDBC call to insert a file into BLOB column that you can't use java.sql.Blob data type which will have this limitation. He suggested that by using oracle.sql.BLOB, this prob won't exist.
The problem is I'm unable to use oracle.sql.BLOB in my CMP EJB because in the jbosscmp-jdbc.xml, I'm able to specify the normal BLOB only which is java.sql.Blob (Refer below).
<cmp-field>
<field-name>attachment</field-name>
<column-name>attch</column-name>
<jdbc-type>BLOB</jdbc-type>
<sql-type>BLOB</sql-type>
</cmp-field>So, how do I solve this problem? I need to store files which the size is much bigger than that. I'm using JBoss 4 as my app server and Oracle 9i as my DB. I can see that there's many ppl facing this prob, but no solution to it. Pls advise. Thanks.

Compiling with javac command gives error msg
HI,
I'm working on a linux based system and I need java for programming projects but when i want to compile a project, I get the error:
1. WARNING in Og05_08.java
(at line 8)
public class Og05_08 extends Applet implements ActionListener
^^^^^^^
The serializable class Og05_08 does not declare a static final serialVersionUID field of type long
1 problem (1 warning)I think it has something to do with the compiler and not with the programming.It's a warning, not an error. From the API:
The serialization runtime associates with each serializable class a version number, called a serialVersionUID, which is used during deserialization to verify that the sender and receiver of a serialized object have loaded classes for that object that are compatible with respect to serialization. If the receiver has loaded a class for the object that has a different serialVersionUID than that of the corresponding sender's class, then deserialization will result in an InvalidClassException. A serializable class can declare its own serialVersionUID explicitly by declaring a field named "serialVersionUID" that must be static, final, and of type long:
ANY-ACCESS-MODIFIER static final long serialVersionUID = 42L;
If a serializable class does not explicitly declare a serialVersionUID, then the serialization runtime will calculate a default serialVersionUID value for that class based on various aspects of the class, as described in the Java(TM) Object Serialization Specification. However, it is strongly recommended that all serializable classes explicitly declare serialVersionUID values, since the default serialVersionUID computation is highly sensitive to class details that may vary depending on compiler implementations, and can thus result in unexpected InvalidClassExceptions during deserialization. Therefore, to guarantee a consistent serialVersionUID value across different java compiler implementations, a serializable class must declare an explicit serialVersionUID value. It is also strongly advised that explicit serialVersionUID declarations use the private modifier where possible, since such declarations apply only to the immediately declaring class--serialVersionUID fields are not useful as inherited members.

Output type should not be triggered when error in invoice
Dear Experts,
I have this issue.
Whenever there is an error in the document, the output type should NOT be triggered.
But in my case, in spite of the error "Pricing error in item 0001"the output is getting triggered.
This is a Billing Document.VF03.
In NACE, it is linked to RSNASTED-->EDI_PROCESSING form routine.
i need your help in identifying, where should be looking for this check.
check: when error in document->do not post idoc via the output type.
where will i be able to find this check.
Please guide.

Can't import LIVE TYPE files .ipr into FCP - FILE ERROR: UNKOWN FILE.
I have had this problem for a while and simply just worked around it. But now I am editing so much more that I want it the way it use to be.
The Problem is FCP 6 will not let me import LIVE TYPE files. I have to render them into an .mov 1st in livetype. I use to be able to just drag the file into FCP and render it there after I tweeked it. Now it won't, it gives me this error- FILE ERROR: Unknown File.
I have already uninstalled Live type along with its PLIST as well as FCP. Re installed and still keep getting the same error. I can't remember when it started, all I know is I want it fixed.
Thank you for any assistance anyone can offer.What are the Project Properties settings? do they match the Sequence setting in FCP?
What elements are used in your LiveType composition?
Are you including images or background video?
If so, post the codec that the video uses. If there are images, the file type and color space. -

Global Type declaration/definition of name duplicated error
Hi, All,
We have two EJB exposed as the Webservice , so WS-1 and WS2, When I insert these two WS into the SOA Application to used by BPEL process. I get the compile error from jdev(11.1.1.1.3) like this:
Global Type declaration/definition of name '{http://mynamespace-here/oracle}SearchParameter' are duplicated at the following locations:
EJB WS1 xsd line ***
EJB WS2 xsd line ***
SearchParameter is bean SearchRequest‘s property, this bean is shared using in two EJB method interfaces.
Our class design like this:
@XmlRootElement
@XmlType(name = "SearchRequest",
namespace = " http://mynamespace-here/oracle ")
public class SearchRequest
implements Serializable
private SearchInterface searchCriteria;
@XmlElements(value =
{ @XmlElement(name = "SearchParameter",
type = SearchParameter.class) })
public SearchInterface getSearchCriteria()
return searchCriteria;
At here SearchInterface is an empty interface and SearchParameter is a class implement this interface.
I feel @XmlElement in fact cause this duplicated error.
So in this case, how can we expose this SearchInterface/SearchParameter through the XML properly?
Thanks .

Edited by: user782942 on Feb 8, 2011 11:37 PMIf the message type in the external service and the one using in your local are using the same schema, could you check whether the external service has changed the schema in any way? Adding new fields, changing the field name, or changing the namespace? We had faced this issue before, and it was because the schema in our mds is different from the schema from OSB, which they changed it after we get the artifacts and we didn't have the updated schema in our mds.

CFERROR type = "REQUEST" -- How to dynamically display ERROR page?
I applied the cferror tag in Application.cfm:
<cferror type = "REQUEST"
template = "../applications/main/view/dspError.cfm"
mailTo = "[email protected]">
The CF error template does not dynamically show variables
except the error message (I'd like it shows header, menu bar,
footer, etc.) . Is any way to display the error page with CF
variables / URL variables / form variables?
Thanks in advance,
KevinUsing an onError function in an application.cfc file will
give you more flexibility than using a cferror tag. -
I get the following error, even after uninstalling per the directions.
Cant find any help, other than the uninstall/reinstall which clearly is not getting rid of the issue.
My windows version is 64 bit, so no idea where this bogus type information is coming from.
Any ideas? thanks.Which uninstall directions were you following?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
