Invoke DB Adapter inside BPEL

Hi SOA Gurus,
i am using 11.1.1.5.0
Requirement is similar to
Update Employee Sal using Web Service.
Input Parameters
EmpNo
Sal
If Sal > 10% Orig sal send for APproval.
To achieve this need to call DB Adapter from BPEL.
Question is can we directly invoke DB adapter from BPEL  ? or
Should I invoke  Web Service (Ws-Mediator-DBAdapter)  inside BPEL?
Appreciate if you can provide solution.
Thanks,
Kiran

Yes, you can call directly invoke DB Adapter from BPEL, no issues with that.

  • Invoking Jms Adapter from BPEL with enque stoped

    Hi guys, I have an issue.
    In my BPEL flowI have an invoke activity which has a jms adapter as a partner link.
    The thing is that if you stop the enque in the DB, your flow in BPEL continues like nothing happened. It just passes the payload to the jms adapter. From it's point of view is asynchronous , but I want to make sure that the payload is in the queue before I continue the flow.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Oracler,
    I don't understand what you mean by XML schema inline? Where do you define that in a JMS adapter ? Can you be more specfic when you say Try including both the elements(TEXT_LOB , TEXT_VC ) in the schema? I don't have those elements in my schema at all. I have tried the opaque option I still get the same Translator NULL error.
    Please anyone help....

  • Invoking secure services inside bpel with x509 certificate and weblogic

    Hi, everyone. Here we have a problem with invoking secure webservices (*client authentication*) from a bpel deployed in weblogic that is consuming so much time (more than a week) and don't know what else to try.
    The scenario: we have a bpel process which invokes a series of web services without any security mechanisms. Now, we have to change it to invoke a series of webservices that do exactly the same, but using ssl and client authentication with x509 certificates. The first part of it, the ssl one, is done without any problems. But the second part is not working at all, and we (I) are running out of ideas how to configure it in weblogic.
    The situation: I want to invoke a webservice, say, Service1. It requires client authentication, so I should pass a certificate (*which I already have*). I put that certificate inside a keystore (with keytool -importkeystore, from p12 to jks). With SoapUI I have no problem now to invoke the service now. But, I'm not sure what should I do to make it work in weblogic; after all, the provider keeps answering with a HTTP 403 Forbidden error.
    The actions: inside the weblogic's enterprise manager, in SOA deployments (SOA / soa-infra / default ) I selected my composite, and in the Dashboard (down at Services and references), clicked the particular service (Service1). Then, it took me to another page where I can see statistics about that service, and a tab named Policies. There (in Policies) I have the chance to attach a policy, but I don't know which one is the approppriate; I guest it should be WSS11_x509_token_with_message_protection_service_policy, which in turn asks me to provide a value for keystore.recipient.alias, keystore.sig.csf.key and keystore.enc.csf.key. For this keys, I provide values that I configured in Credentials (Weblogic Domain / Security / Credentials, subtree oracle.wsm.security). My own logic tells me that what I have done is what I should have done, but still no luck :(
    I am sure the keystore is ok (if I rename the keystore file it tells me that the keystore file cannot be found, and if I specify an alias which is not inside the keystore it tells me that the alias is not found and list me valid aliases). I guess I am missing something, somewhere, but after many hours (days, almost 2 weeks) googling, still cannot make it work.
    Any ideas would be apreciated. If anyone knows about a post or article about this, it would be apreciated too, but I can tell is not that I just googled for 25 minutes, but I have spent more than a week googling, trying, analyzing and reading formal documentation, with no results.
    Thanks in advance!

    Try to enable SSL and WS debugging on your WLS. Add the following to your startup script:
    -Dweblogic.webservice.verbose=true
    -Dssl.debug=true
    ..then you might be able to spot if the rejection is based on some handshake problem.

  • How to use Database Adapter in BPEL

    I want to use Database Adapter in BPEL to transfer data from one table to other table and the data is still hold in the read table?
    I can find a example from http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28994/adptr_db.htm#BDCIGDCB.
    And the general design of my BPEL is as following:
    1. Add a "status" column to the read table. And alter the value of status column of all data in read table to "unreaded".
    2. Then create a empty BPEL (BPELAdapter) Project.
    3. Add a Database Adapter:
    (1) In step 1 of Adapter Configuration Wizard, configure the Service Name to datain.
    (2) In step 2, configure the database connection.
    (3) In step 3, choose "Poll for New or Changed Records in a Table".
    (4) Then click Import Tables button, and choose the read table.
    (5) In step 5, choose a column.
    (6) Don’t do anything in step 6 and 7.
    (7) In step 8, choose "Update a Field in the [Datain] Table (Logical Delete)".
    (8) In step 9, configure Logical Delete Field to STATUS, configure Read Value to readed and configure Unread Value to unreaded.
    (9) Don’t do anything in step 10 and 11.
    4. Add a receive activity to connect to above database adapter.
    5. Add another Database Adapter. Then configure this database adapter service WSDL:
    (1) In step 1 of Adapter Configuration Wizard, configure the Service Name to dataout.
    (2) In step 2, configure the database connection.
    (3) In step 3, choose Perform an Operation on a Table (and all items under it).
    (4) Then click Import Tables button, and choose the write table.
    (5) In step 5, choose a column.
    (6) Don’t do anything in step 6, 7 and 8.
    6. Add a invoke activity to connect to above database adapter.
    7. Add a assign activity between the receive activity and invoke activity. And configure the assign copy operation.
    But after I deploy this BPEL project to the BPEL server and invoke this project, I get following error. Meanwhile, this BPEL don't take effect.
    The following exception occured while processing this request:
    Can't find partnerLinkType 2.
    in
    "file:/D:/soft/SOASuite/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/bpel/domains/default/tmp/.bpel_BPELAdapter_1.0_e82210b05e4d3e997eed581d0d220293.tmp/_BPELAdapter.wsdl" WSDL to find PartnerLinkType "{http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/datain/datain_plt"。
    How to resolve?
    Thanks,
    Melody

    Now, I can insert data into the table through Database Adapter.
    But still can't select data from the table through Database Adapter.
    Above error still happen when invoke the read database table with Database Adapter project:
    Can't find partnerLinkType 2.
    in
    "file:/D:/soft/SOASuite/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/bpel/domains/default/tmp/.bpel_BPELAdapter_1.0_e82210b05e4d3e997eed581d0d220293.tmp/_BPELAdapter.wsdl" WSDL to find PartnerLinkType "{http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/datain/datain_plt"。

  • Socket Schema Translation Error when trying to use Socket Adapter in BPEL

    Hi,
    I am trying to use Socket Adapter in BPEL.
    I made 2 SOA Projects
    SOA Application Project 1: Socket Server (Inbound Synchronous Request/Reply). The option for ‘Native Format translation is not required(Schema is Opaque)’ is unchecked .i.e. XSD is given for both request/reply
    SOA Application Project 2: Socket Client (Outbound Synchronous Request/Reply). The option for ‘Native Format translation is not required(Schema is Opaque)’ is unchecked .i.e. XSD is given for both request/reply
    Socket Client which is exposed as Web Service invokes Socket Server.
    1.     <summary>Exception occurred when binding was invoked. Has anybody faced this issue?

    Hi guys:
    I got exactly the same error. I recently installed BPEL Process Manager for Developers 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) in windows XP.
    The default setting for BPEL VM memory is Xms512m -Xmx512m -Xmn300m. I tried to set maximum size to 1024 but I had this error.
    Error occurred during initialization of VM
    Could not reserve enough space for object heap
    if any body can suggest a solution will be great .
    Thanks.

  • Using DB Adapter in BPEL to build a flatfile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have couple of oracle tables and want to take data from these tables and build a flatfile and put it on filesystem . Is there a way to build a flatfile using DataBase Adapter in BPEL. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    This means that you create a new process, add a partnerlink for the db adapters, add an invoke to use this partnerlink. Then (consecutively) add a partnerlink to configure the file adapter, and add an invoke to write to the file. Probably you need to define a transformation to map between de database structure and the file structure.

  • The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception.

    Hello,
    I have to use an Oracle apps adapter in Bpel. Thus I created a non-XA datasource and a connection pool for the Oracle Apps Adapter - eis/Apps/DS with its datasource as jdbc/DS. Now when I invoke the Oracle apps adapter, i get the following error in the standalone weblogic server.
    The selected operation ProcessApprove could not be invoked.
    An exception occured while invoking the webservice operation. Please see logs for more details.
    oracle.sysman.emSDK.webservices.wsdlapi.SoapTestException: Client received SOAP Fault from server : Exception occured when binding was invoked.

    Hi,
    Thanks its working now. I am facing another issue. I do not use parameters in my Scenario. Now when i run my scenario i m getting the following error. I think its because i have not assigned anything to the Variable element. I guess its taking null value for Variable element here and cheking if such a variable exists. Have you come accross such an issue? If so, please sugest remedy.

  • Problem while invoking ODI Scenario from BPEL

    Hi,
    I am trying to invoke a scenario from BPEL process through ODIPublicWebService.
    When I initiate the process, its failing with following error message....
    InvokeDeptAdmin_invokeScenario_OutputVariable>
    -<part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="part1">
    -<ns1:invokeScenarioResponse xmlns:ns1="xmlns.oracle.com/odi/OdiInvoke/">
    <ns1:Ok>false
    </ns1:Ok>
    <ns1:SessionNumber>23101
    </ns1:SessionNumber>
    <ns1:ErrorMessage>Agent didn't execute this command:
    </ns1:ErrorMessage>
    </ns1:invokeScenarioResponse>
    </part>
    </InvokeDeptAdmin_invokeScenario_OutputVariable
    I observed that its failing as I am not giving any input to optional parameters like
    <xsd:element name="SessionName" minOccurs="0" type="xsd:string" />
    <xsd:element name="Keywords" minOccurs="0" type="xsd:string" />
    <xsd:element name="Variables" maxOccurs="unbounded" minOccurs="0" type="VariableType" />
    I can see following empty tags in my Audit of BPELConsole....
    <SessionName/>
    <Keywords/>
    <Variables/>
    And null is being considered as a variable by the Agent and following Exception is thrown in the Operator
    java.lang.Exception: Specified variable not found in the Repository : null
         at com.sunopsis.dwg.dbobj.SnpSession.a(SnpSession.java)

    Please let me know how can I overcome this problem
    Appreciate earliest response.

    Hi, how are you?
    I did works including a parameter in my scenario and put value in this parameter on call scenario from BPEL. If i remove the parameter on the scenario and the call, its dont works.
    Try include a parameter in your scenario.

  • SQL types over PLSQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter in BPEL

    Use SQL types over PL/SQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter
    in BPEL/ ESB
    This document will be focusing on Oracle Applications adapter. However Database adapter is much like OA adapter (even OA adapter uses DB Adapter), so the readers who are interested to explore DB adapters, can relate things with this document and go further as well.
    Some Guidelines for writing PL/SQL APIs for OA Adapter
    As we know when we create a partner link from the OA adapter wizard it sometimes writes some wrapper script supportive to the OA Adapter WSDL which contains below
    * Object type for PL/SQL RECORD
    * Nested table of the given type for PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * INTEGER substituted for PL/SQL BOOLEAN
    * Wrapper Script for converting above three set of data types . (PLSQL to SQL and SQL to PLSQL conversion functions)
    In runtime this wrapper script for converting PL/SQL to SQL and SQL to PL/SQL is an extra overhead.
    So the first advice would be to avoid the use of the below as parameters of PLSQL API being called by OA Adapter.
    * PL/SQL RECORD
    * PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * PL/SQL BOOLEAN
    In other way we can say we should try to use only SQL data types in arguments if we are planning to call any PL/SQL API from the OA Adapter.
    If the requirement is to use a table or record uses the Object type. In place of BOOLEAN better to use VARCHAR or INTEGER what ever fulfills your requirement. Following this guideline we can reduce a huge number of Line of codes to be run each time the adapter being called.
    Generally, Oracle E-Biz standard APIs use PL/SQL record types and table types so when there is a requirement to call these API’s from OA Adapter (this is a common requirement in development), and if we directly browse the API in OA Adapter Configuration Wizard and create the partner link, again a huge number of code is written by the wizard in the wrapper script (a number of extra mapping of fields which are not being used in the interface).
    In this case better would be to create an Object type with only the required fields which are being used in that call and use them as parameters for the PLSQL API.

  • File Adapter vs BPEL interaction issue on high availability environment

    Hi all,
    i would really appreciate your help on a matter i'm facing about a composite (SCA) deployed on a clustered environment configured for high availability. To help you better understand the issue i briefly describe what my composite does. Composite's instances are started by means of an Inbound File Adapter which periodically polls a directory in order to check if any file with a well defined naming convention is available. The adapter is not meant to read the file content but only its properties. Furthermore, the adapter automatically makes a backup copy of the file and doesn't delete the file. Properties read by the adapter are provided to a BPEL process which obtains them using the various "jca.file.xyz" properties (configurable in any BPEL receive activity) and stores them in some of its process variables. How the BPEL process uses these properties is irrilevant to the issue i'd like to pose to your attention.
    The just described interaction between the File Adapter and the BPEL process has always worked in other non-HA environments. The problem i'm facing is that this interaction stops to work when i deploy the composite in a clustered environment configured for high availability: the File Adapter succeeds to read the file but no BPEL process instance gets started and the composite instance gets stuck (that is, it keeps always running until you don't manually abort it!).
    Interesting to say, if I put a Mediator between the File Adapter and the BPEL, the Mediator instance gets started, that is the file's properties read by the adapter are passed to the mediator, but then the composite gets stuck again 'cos even the mediator doesn't seem to be able to initiate the BPEL process instance.
    I think the problem lies in the way i configured either the SOA infrastructure for HA or the File Adapter or BPEL process in my composite. To configure the adapter, i followed the instructions given here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10231/adptr_file.htm#BABCBIAH
    but maybe i missed something. Instead, i didn't find anything about BPEL configuration for HA with SOA Suite 11g (all the material i found refers to SOA Suite 10g).
    I've also read in some posts that for using the db as a coordinator between the file adapters deployed on the different nodes of the cluster, the db must be a RAC! Is that true or is possible to use even another type of oracle db?
    Please, let me know if someone of you has already encountered (and solved :)) a problem like this!
    Thanks in advance,
    Bye!

    Hi,
    thanks for your prompt reply. Anyway, i had already read through out that documentation and tried all settings suggested in it without any luck! I'm thinking the problem could be related to the Oracle DB used in the clustered environment, which is not RAC while all documentation i read about high availability configuration always refers to a RAC db. Anyone knows if a RAC Oracle DB is strictly needed for file adapter configuration in HA cluster?
    Thanks, bye!
    Fabio
