IOS 7 Wifi greyed out..... same as last year

This time last year my phone 'died' when IOS 6 was installed, the phone was less than a year old and was replaced for a new phone at the apple store brighton, i understand I wasnt the only person who lost Wifi altogether.
Low and behold......... IOS7 has done the same to my 4s............ gutted is an understatement, anyone know whats going on? Once was unlucky, twice im pretty fuming, just had a really unsatisfying call with apple who kindly advised me first off I was out of warranty and that the new handset provided in the apple store only had 90 days warranty on it? am confused.
So tried all the usual stuff, shouting at it, incantations outside and am now resounded to a trip to brighton to the apple store on saturday.....
my questions are..... anyone else suffered the same? any chance apple with replace my phone? if not what costs am i looking at...............
am really hacked off here and yes have tried all the resets, reboots, rebuilds etc etc....
Apple.....im dissapointed......... as a matter of point all our other IOS products upgraded fine with no issue.
Any help, moral support or random acts of kindness appreciated.......
Kinda wished Id stayed with android!
Our contract with T Mob is up for renewak in feb so an early release is not an option.

S,
All of the Settings text is Grey...
but seriously,
What is Greyed-out? the WiFI Icon? The WiFi icon should be a strong blue  Does it say "Off" to the right?
As Traxx suggested, Try a hard reset. Usually if a hardware option is unacessible it means that there is a hardware failure.

    If these don't work you may have a hardware problem. Visit an Apple store for an evaluation or contact Apple Support.

    Dear apple, I am really dissapointed with you. Around January 2013, my iPhone 4s 16GB White has hardware issues, which was the Wi-Fi grey out. The wifi grey out means that I can't access the wifi on/off button, and also it has no connection. I have put up with it for months, until june 7 when I decided it has been long enough, and I got a replacement. I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault? That isn't how it should work, you should be fixing this problem so people can be happy customers and leave happy. Obviously you don't all know how to do your jobs, because if you did, we wouldn't have this problem. I would like a replacement phone, ONCE AGAIN. If this problem occurs again, I will simply stop buying your products, and lose faith in your company, your's sincerely, Jack Maher.

    This is a user to user help forum only. You are not addressing Apple here.
    My iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 are running 6.1.3 with no such problem and the same with the overwhelming majority of iOS devices running 6.1.3.

  • WIFI GREYED OUT AND APPLE WANTS TO CHARGE 200$....

    Seriously,
    I've had my 4s for about 2 years now and since updating to IOS 7.04 my wifi has greyed out and will not work. I've tried all the reseting issues(airplane mode, reset network settings, erase all settings), all of these have fixed issue for about 20 minutes and then wifi greys out again. I went to an Apple store and they were willing to change the phone for a 200$ fee. Seriously?? I can't believe that Apple would do this. This is my first experience with an Apple product being defective and I was appalled. I was with blackberry for over 10 years and anytime I had an issue with warranty there was not questions asked and device was replaced and I did not have to pay anything. I was at the Apple store at 9am and there was about 50 customers with issues. WOW!! All that to say that I'm now stuck with a device that has now WIFI. This is just great.
    Thank you APPLE for your great support!!

    Like I said on my previous post. I am not complaining about the warranty, If the phone becomes defective and it is my fault and I don't have a warranty anymore, I'm fine with paying to get a new phone. I'm just saying, when its become clear that this is an issue with the update that Apple has sent and to no fault of mine that my wifi is not working anymore(and others can concur that they've been having the same wifi issue after updating to IOS 7 and later), it would be very sincere of a company as big as Apple and seems willing to help their customers stay with their products, that they should be abit more attentive to the consumer that spends their hard earned money on their product. Especially when it seems to be that the phone is not working because of their updates that they have sent.

  • Is it worth paying to have iphone 4s fixed after wifi greyed out

    Hi all my iphone 4s isnt connecting to wifi greyed out  since updating ios7 tryed all troubleshooting tips etc its 15 mths old so not covered but after contacting apple i can send it for repair for €211 this seems harsh seens its their fault issue only started due to the update have read why , read loads discussions and so many with same problem So have repair set up is it even worth it  or as anyone done this what was outcome ??

    Some folks think the problem is due to poor solder connections of the WiFi chip on the card. Heating may expand the joints to cause temporary connectivity. The chip itself could be of low tolerance, and the iOS update causes it to fail the threshold. If you have tried the software resets, then the cure is to reflow the solder of the chip to the WiFi card, or to replace the WiFi card. Apple will not "own" this problem, even though it seems to be widespread. Apple offers to renew your contract for a new iPhone at $199. Certain repair shops will tackle this problem, although many local shops will not. In the US try iFix Miami Beach. See them on eBay <http://www.ebay.com/itm/iPhone-4S-Grayed-Out-Wifi-Wireless-Fix-Repair-Service-Tr usted-Specialists-/161160765436?ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:US:1120> for a $69 fix. They fixed my iPhone 4S and returned within a week (even over the Memorial Day holiday weekend). In Europe, I have read about, but have not tried PodMod <http://www.podmod.org> Hope this helps.

  • Iphone 5C wifi greyed out and screen going crazy

    Hi I bought my iPhone back in October in Us from Tmobile, since December the wifi greyed out and hasn't worked once (been living on data) now recently the screen goes crazy, it types by its self unlocks the phone (dont have a password) sometimes calls people etc... now the thing is I recently moved to Dubai and I cant go to a apple store as we do not have one here, so could I ship my phone to States and have apple repair it or give me a replacement if I pay for their shipping costs back to Dubai ? Thanks for any help I can get

    If not jailbroken, restore the iOS. Most likely there is a hardware problem
    The warranty is valid only in the USA.  Apple will not accept shipment from or ship to any address outside the USA for this phone.

  • Iphone 4s- 6.1.2- wifi greyed out?

    Ever since I upgraded from ios 6.1 to 6.1.1 then to 6.1.2 I have had my wifi greyed out and unable to use it. This has been like this for a month now.
    I have reset all settings, restored from points before this update, restored and set up as a new iphone, deleted all data and settings.
    Still nothing, the problem has persisted.
    Will I have to go to Apple Genius bar now? As its really annoying...
    Cheers

    Call Apple Support or take it to an Apple Store.

  • Hi have iphone 4s factory unlocked wifi greyed out.. need permanent fix pls

    have iphone 4s factory unlocked wifi greyed out.. need permanent fix tried everything but not working... what would e the cost of repair ??

    It has no correlation.  You do not have to have an Apple ID in order house an iPhone.  An Apple ID is only needed to use iCloud and iTunes & App Store on an iPhone.  You can have an iPhone set up as new, no user data whatsoever, and still connect to wi-fi.
    Making a new Apple ID had nothing to do with fixing the wi-fi on your iPhone.  It's like saying that putting a new driver into a car suddenly fixed the transmission problem.

  • How to load member for "sales same date last year"?

    I need to load a member in Measures named "PriorYrSales" with "Sales" for the same date last year as today's date. Thus, retrieving "PriorYrSales" for 2/10/2002 would return the sales amount for 2/10/2001. Since days roll-up to months, quarters, years, it would be easy to determine how we're doing compared to the same time last year.Data is loaded each day for a date range from the current date and the preceding x days. Substitution variables are available for the beginning and ending date and the same dates for last year.For example: Data is loaded from beginning date of 2/01/2002 through ending date of 2/10/2002.The prior year date variables contain 2/01/2001 and 2/10/2001.The time period dimension is as follows:FY01->Jan2001-->01012001 (Alias: 1/01/2001)-->01022001 (Alias: 1/02/2001)-->all the dates in Jan->Feb2001-->02012001 (Alias: 2/01/2001)-->02022001 (Alias: 2/02/2001)-->all the dates in Febetc.FY02->Jan2002-->01012002 (Alias: 1/01/2002)-->01022002 (Alias: 1/02/2002)-->all the dates in Jan->Feb2002-->02012002 (Alias: 2/01/2002) -->02022002 (Alias: 2/01/2002)-->all the dates in Febetc.Thanks your any and all suggestions.Phil

    Perhaps I wasn't clear in the first post. The intent is to easily compare sales for a current date/period to the same date/period last year. Neither Excel nor Analyzer provide a method that I'm aware of to retrieve data as follows:-------------------------------------Period Sales PriorYrSales Diff4/15/2002 1,000 900 100-------------------------------------(900 is sales for 4/15/2001)(100 is the calculated difference.)Nor can I do this:-------------------------------------Period Sales Period Sales Diff4/15/2002 1,000 4/15/2001 900 100-------------------------------------What Excel and Analyzer do allow is:-------------------------------------Period Sales 4/15/2002 1,0004/15/2001 900-------------------------------------I readily acknowledge that the data is redundant but I can't think of another option that will allow Excel and Analyzer to easily retrieve the values for comparison. If the PriorYrSales member can be loaded then the users can compare years, quarters, months and days quite easily.My challenge is knowing how use a calc script to derive prior year dates that correspond to current year dates. Something like:PriorYrSales->04152002 = Sales->04152001I've considered arrays but I've never used them and the documentation is not helpful enough for me.Thanks for your response.Phil

  • Problem with bex query listing sales "this month" and "same month last year

    Hi,
    I've created a query in BW BEx, where I have a mandatory variable for 0calmonth, and I list 0material and sales (in volume, liter). And I have a restricted key figure giving me sales (volume in liter) restricted with 0calmonth = variable - 12, to give me the sale for the same month the user select, previous year.
    This seems to be working, the sum is correct, but when adding up the number for the sales in the month previous year, the numbers does not fit the sum in the end.
    I think the report only lists materials with sales the month selected in the variable, if a material has not been sold that month, but in the same month last year, it's not listed in the reports, but it's added in the sum in the end.
    Example.
    We have three records like this:
    material - calmonth - volume
    101 - 01.2010 - 5
    101 - 01.2011 - 8
    201 - 01.2010 - 7
    The report will give the following (calmonth variable = 01.2011)
    Material - volume this month - volume same month last year
    101 - 8 - 5
    Sum 8 - 12
    Any way to solve this issue? We noticed because we run BO - Webi on top of the BEx query, and BO sum's the values per material, and in webi the report would give us the sum 8 and 5.
    Any input is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Øystein

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply.
    The error is that the report only seems to list materials that has been sold "this month", and if the same material was sold the same month last year, it will also list the volume for this.
    But if the material is only sold in the same month last year, it's not listed in the report, but it's calculated into the sum at the end.
    The report is listing material, which is why the error presents itself, as you said
    Getting 8 minus 12 is correct unless you drill down by material. In that case, it should be 8 minus 5 and 0 minus 7.
    The row with 0 - 7 is not shown, and my guess is that the report will only list materials that has sales this month (which has been selected in the variable)
    Regards,
    Øystein

    Hi,
    The above code creates problem only when date is 29th of Feb.
    To find whether year -1 is leap yr or not include following code also:
    l_year = sy-datum(4)-1 .
    l_mod4 = l_year mod 4.
    l_mod100 = l_year mod 100.
    l_mod400 = l_year mod 400.
    if ( l_mod4 = 0 and l_mod100 ne 0 ) or l_mod400 eq 0.
    if( l_date = 29)
    l_date= l_date -1.
    endif.
    endif.
    Modify your code according to youe need. Hope this helps you.

  • TS1559 WiFi greyed out - no WiFi on iPhone 4s with iOS 6.1.3

    Two days ago I discovered my phone was suffering from the popular "Greyed out WiFi" syndrome.
    On Settings> General> About the WiFi address appears as N/A. Bluetooth is working normally.
    I have tried everything I have found on the matter on the Internet: Erasing the iPhone, Resetting Networks Settings, Restoring from iTunes, all of which has only led to my losing all my Apps and most definitely has not fixed the problem.
    From what I have read, I believe it is a hardware problem and it cannot be fixed, but I don't undertsand why this happens randomly and for no reason (I updated to iOS 6.1.3 a while ago and only experienced the problem a couple of days ago) and I certainly don't understand how Apple is not responding / taking care of this situation considering the great amount of customers who are not being able to use the WiFi on their phones (which leads to an almost useless iPhone).
    One of the most appreciated features of Apple products was the quick and effective technical support it offered, but this kind of issue certainly shows that Apple is changing and will stop treating their customers (who, by the way, pay the highest price on the market for its products) as it used to. The "Greyed out WiFi" is a completely random problem which is in no way caused by the users of the iPhone and Apple should be responsible for it.

    hello PH  Caulfield,
    I had the same problem, I am also a bit disappointed in apple that they never fixed that problem, I had the same thing with my Iphone 4s. You cant fix this problem all you can doe is go to an apple retail seller and show them the problem and they will fore sure swap the phone for a new Iphone 4s

  • IPhone 4S/iOS 7.0.4/WiFi Grey Out Issues

    My iPhone 4S (64GB memory/ATT) was working beautifully on iOS 5.1.1.  WiFi connected seamlessly with Access Points at home, work, etc.
    Then I made the mistake of wirelessly updating to iOS 7.0.4.  Instantly the WiFi stopped working and the <Settings>, <WiFi> tab was greyed out and non-responsive.  Oddly the WiFi tab on the Control Panel was responsive, but did not actually activiate the WiFi chip or open a connection to the WiFi antenna.  Accordingly, there is no option to find or connect to a WiFi network.
    Most other features appear to work, including the ATT cellular service and Bluetooth connection.  However, the iPhone is slow to respond to some apps,   For example, tapping <Settings> takes 5-6 seconds for a response whereas with iOS 5.1.1 the response was instantaneous.  Also a few apps (even after updating) and a couple of iOS pages now cause the iPhone to go blank for a few seconds or crash.
    Sounded like either an iOS or firmware issue to me.
    I followed all of the Apple and ATT suggestions, including:
    -Confirming that the iPhone is not in Airplane mode.
    -Turning the iPhone off, waiting, and restarting.
    -Forcing a hard restart of the iPhone by holding the <Silent> and <Home> keys simultaneously for 7 seconds.
    -Resetting the network settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset Network Settings>.
    -Checking for a newer iOS (none).
    At the suggestion of a couple of ATT support representatives, I tried even more drastic measures:
    -Resetting all settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Settings>.
    -Resetting all content and settings by tapping <Settings>, <General>, <Reset>, and <Reset All Content and Settings>.
    -Backing up, Restoring iOS and firmware, and Restoring applications and data using iTunes.
    -Restoring iOS and firmware using iTunes, and then setting up as a new iPhone.
    -Turning off iPhone, waiting while ATT pushed a new switch data pack to iPhone, and then restarting iPhone.
    Actually I did all of these "fixes" at least twice with the same result:  still a greyed out and non-responsive <Settings> <WiFi> tab with no WiFi signal.
    Apple and ATT's ultimate solution was predictable:   Buy a new 64 GB iPhone 5 for several hundred dollars (plus numerous proprietary cables) and forget the 47 GB of data, photos, etc. lost beta-testing their iOS and "fixes".
    Any "fixes" that I missed or other suggestions?

    ChrisJ4203, thanks very much for your input.  I don't mean to turn this post into an endless debate, but frankly I am still having a hard time believing that the WiFi died as a result of a hardware failure.
    My logic might be flawed, but here it is:
    While the iPhone 4S got very hot when wirelessly downloading and installing iOS 7.0.4 over the WiFi network, the WiFi chip and antenna had to be functional to complete the wireless iOS update.  Apple was very clear that iOS 7.0.4 is too large to download and install via cellular service.  Accordingly it would appear that any hardware failure had to occur in the few minutes between the download/installation of iOS 7.0.4 and its first use.  That window of opportunity is incredibly small in an otherwise flawless hardware performance.  I am not a big believer in long shot coincidences, so a WiFi hardware malfunction seems highly improbable to me, but not impossible.  A firmware/iOS conflict still seems more plausible to me.
    I also don't read much into Apple's "out-of-warranty" replacement offer at $199.  AT&T tells me that anyone walking in off the street (with or without a hardware or iOS malfunction) would receive the same offer.
    I appreciate that some iPhone 4S users did not experience any WiFi issues when they updated to iOS 7.0.4, but such difference could easily be explained if Apple used more than one WiFi chip and/or firmware in the iPhone 4S series.  Such an explanation would also account for iOS 7.0.4 (and 7.0.6) not recognizing the WiFi chip after the iOS update.
    Still perplexed, but thanks again for your kind efforts to help.
    Wonder if I can limp along long enough to spend my money on an Apple iPhone 6 ... but then again I don't want to be anyone's beta-tester.
    I am tempted to switch to a Samsung Galaxy or some other smartphone as long as I will be buying new accessories, but frankly I don't want to waste my time learning a new OS or core apps.
