IP Profile stuck since new line activated

I have had a new broadband connection installed at my new home, but it seems the IP profile has stuck at 2mbit since it stabilised after the training period.
Here are my line stats:
Connection time:    3 days, 00:37:06
Downstream:    7.938 Mbps
Upstream:    448 Kbps
Noise margin (Down/Up):    16.4 dB / 25.0 dB

HEC Events (Down/Up):    217 / 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):    241 / 0
BT speedtester results:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.83 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps
I'll try and contacts the admins to get the IP profile reset, but are there any other ideas I can try?

  • Verizon to offer $100 bill credit on new lines activated? Is this true?

All over the internet, cellphone websites like AndroidCentral are reporting that Verizon is now offering $100 of credit for every new line activated from Feb. 7th to 28th. I just added 2 lines recently and was curious if anyone has heard anything about this offer or if anyone has successfully received the credit?

I just talked to Verizon, the supervisor talked to the marketing team, he even looked at the image himself that has been circulating.
They said they have no such promotion going on. He said his marketing team has been receiving other phone calls about this also, asking about this "promotion/discount". He said he would note this down and have the marketing team look into it.
The only promotions they have in their system are the waived activation fee promotion on new lines and also the trade-in discount promotion.

  • 500k profile after disruption and new line install...

    Hello,
    Status:
    I have an open fault logged with BT;
Phone line ok but broadband speed low, profile appears stuck at 500k.
History: sporadic BBand connection and noisy phone line followed by outright failure of both.
Engineers visited and confirmed line between street and master socket probably corroded - they put it on leg+leg to get it working while we waited for a new physical line to be installed.
Pavement was dug up, new armoured cable run from street to house, and a proper master socket fitted (NT5 ? but no inbuilt ADSL filter).
In effort to ensure low noise, ALL other sockets in the property disconnected.
Digital phone (3 handsets off a single powered base) are run off the master socket using a filter.
    Router is business hub - 2700hgv; f/w 6.1.1.48.1-enh.tm ,  h/w 2701-100589-005 .
Hub is connected to same master socket as phone (as it's the only socket now connected to the new line).
New line was installed approx 18 days ago.
Speed tests (speedtest.net) repeatedly show download of 480kbps, upload around 620kbps.
No change since new line was installed and all but the master socket decomissioned.
I use wireless to the router but also repeated tests with a Cat6 copper RJ45 cable and got same results.
Have taken all wireless devices offline and removed electrical items near phone line power supply and cable path to reduce potential noise and repeated tests.
I left the router on for two weeks and no increase in broadband speed.
I rebooted it twice this weekend to see whether it picked up a different profile - but no change.
BT speedtester repeatedly indicates a profile of 500k (full results further down).
Last year I had speeds about 512k on a DrayTek router before switching to the 2700HGV. The change to the BT hub upped the download speed to around 1Mbps, which made a huge difference.
I know I am "a long way from the exchange" but I've had 1Mbps last year and now have a new line into my property, so not much left that I can do to improve the situation.
I'd like to know what can be done to get me at least 1Mb download again.
I have an engineer visit due tomorrow but I believe that will be purely to finish putting paving slabs back over the armoured cable that's been installed (i.e. OpenReach dig team rather than line engineers).
After those slabs are done, I expect the fault will be closed but I'll still have a 500k profile and will need to raise a new fault all over again - that fault was opened 5 weeks ago.

  • Firefox hangs at start. A new profile with a copy of my bookmarks and other files, from previous profile starts OK. At next start I have to setup a new profile. Since June 2010 in Ubuntu, with automatic update.

    Hi,
My firefox-profiles in Ubuntu, are practically one-timers.
Next time i want to use firefox it hangs at start. The window comes up
and it's white, except for a square in upper left corner (without color).
I'm having this problem since June 2010, when I started using an electronic ID,
for access to Swedish goverment organisations. The Electronic ID (BnakID) is
supported in Windows, Mac and Ubuntu. I had a new installation of Ubuntu, in a
    virtual machine at that time.
I can't say that this is a problem with Firefox in Ubuntu or some other
combination, I'm a newbie with Ubuntu and BankID.
I've used been using Firefox and installing (Firebird, Mozilla) since 2001,
in other OS:es than Ubuntu (Solaris, RedHat, Windows and SLED).
    My workaround are:
    - cd ~/.mozilla/firefox
    - mv profiles.ini profiles.ini-
    - Start and stop firefox
    - Copy some files from previous profile, to the new.
    cd <previous>.default

Try the fix posted by houseboats in this discussion: spinning beachball suddenly every time at launch. Other users have reported that it fixed their problem which is similar to yours, good with airport off, freeze with airport on.
The only problem I had with the fix was that it killed the name I gave my computer in the System/Sharing preference pane.  So if you use it go to that pane and rename your computer as it was originally.

  • New line = new hub profile?

Hello, line was connected last night and broadband was immediately steady at 3.5 meg. Happy with that as we're in the middle if nowhere! In light of this fact, the nice openreach chap said that the line was noisy on the calling side of things, even thought broadband seemed ok. He came back out this morning and found us a new line that he said was much better abd switched us over to it (something about trees rubbing cables). Anyway, now our calls are clear with no fuzziness, but out broadband has dropped from 3.5 meg to 0.12 meg! Openreach man is baffled as he said new line is perfect, much better than the old one.
I think the home hub might have had a fit after being connected to the new line, I keep hearing 'Profile' mentioned in the forums abd elsewhere. How can I get my hub to settle down and sort out it's profile to suit this new line?!
I want my 3 meg connection back! Help!

    The speedtest result I did this evening is;
    The hub status currently looks like this;
If i understand things, this means that my line from the exchange has the potential to support 6.4 meg, however my IP profile, as set by BT / the exchange,  is limiting the speed on my line to 0.13 meg?
How can i lift this limit back up to the full 6.4 meg potential?! Any suggestions welcome!

  • Buy 1 phone get 1 free w/ 2 yr activation(does it have to be a NEW line?)

We are going to get the LG Ally and add a line but I want to use the free one to activate on a current line, can I do this or does it HAVE to be a new line? Thanks!

Good morning My name is Leslie I will be happy to advise you on your question. Yes you can Add a Line to your account and activate it to another line on your account. What you will need to do is activate the new phone to the added line to complete the terms and conditions for the new line and then you can activate it to any line on your account but will also need to activate a phone to the added line so can activate new phone to desired line on your account.

  • IS my BT IP profile stuck at 2000kbps?

Hi I have been on BT Broadband Option 3 continuously since early 2006 at the same address, and in mid-2007 I got BT Vision.
For as long as I remember (certainly over 1yr),  my connection shows as: 448/8,096.  I know as I go into the settings once every 2 weeks to activate/deactivate wireless and use my laptop.
I recently noticed that my neighbouring flats (live in central London) all get higher speeds. For the last few days I ran the speedtest. Below are the results, always very similar.
Could it be that I have a "stuck" IP profile which only allows 2,000kbps ???   If so what is the best way to sort this out without having to spent days on the phone?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    steve

Thank you for your very prompt reply and advice.
I don't think waiting for 1-2 days will do anything really, my internet connection is as fast as it's always been.
I didn't run the speedtest because I noticed a temporary drop in speed as you suggest, just that I happened to be at the neighbouring flat and used their computer and the internet was flying!!  They are on the same BT package.   I got curious and used the speedtest and found out that my IP profile is at 2,000kbps, whereas the 'sync' speed is 8Gbps.  I don;t know what my profile was in the past, as I had never checked before, but I remember for a very long time the 'sync' speed was always 8Gbps.
Looking online I found a series of posts from 2008 about people having their IP profile stuck (always at 2000kbps), and that it somewhat coincided with those who activated BT vision in mid-2007 (like myself), due to some kind of BT exchange software bug, and horror stories about calls to india without any result, and having a hard time to get their profile reset.
However I'm willing to follow your adivice and wait a few more days. (True, I disconnected the router recently to put another filter  just in case, but genererally the router is on for months at a time.)
What I'd like to know however, is that if I'm always having   "sync=8Gbps, IP profile=2000kbps", /2008 bug, who do I contact?    Some of the information in the 2008 posts must be out of date, but they do mention speaking with BT Wholesale.
Does anyone know how to contact them?  Do I need to have an engineer have a look at it, or can they do it remotely?
    Thank you.
PS: I only have one socket, all the flats in the block i live look the same so suspect have similar wiring, and i live in central london so i imagine the exchange must be near.

  • Setting up a new line - Now six weeks of stress an...

I am posting this as much out of frustration and to get it off my chest as I am looking for an answer or resolution.
The background is that my girlfriend and I were both BT customers at seperate properties and when moving in together decided to continue service but to cancel my BT account and to transfer hers to the new property. As part of this, we would be cancelling her BT Vision and would request a code to inform my broadband provider when the line was activated so that they could provide the service on the new line.
The first series of errors occured in mid September, with BT setting up a direct debit in my name (at the new address) and claiming that "there was no such thing as a broadband code". When pushed at a later date they then issuing a code which was not valid to my broadband provider. BT then proceeded to set up two direct debits for the same phone line; one for myself and one for my girlfriend. This took a week to clear up.
Having sorted that issue, we then had to cancel the services we no longer required - my phone line, her BT vision and her broadband - each of which I was informed took a couple of days each as BT's systems can't handle more than one request at a time. Another delay of almost a week.
5 days or so after I'd resolved this, and on the day of moving in, I was then informed by text that the line was "activated" but when I checked it 5 minutes later had "developed a fault that required an engineer". This then meant another week of delay's until an engineer could come out to the property. This he did last weekend and success...the line was working.
I was due to be out of the country from Wednesday and went away happy in the knowledge that things looked to be finally sorted. Of course, the envitable happened and when I came back today, the line is dead and I have been informed that I need another engineer to come out....yet again a delay of 5 days.
The most simple of requests - activating an existing line - has turned into a total shambles. Both my girlfriend and I were happy with BT's service until this ordeal started. All we want is to get honest answers and a professional service and I'm sorry to say that we feel let down on both counts.

    Hi LondonPaddy

  • Adding 2 new lines to existing plan with phones I already own.

I have 2 droids on a family plan. 700 mins. 250 text each and unlimited data each. I want o add my elderly inlaws (70+) to my plan, sharing talk minutes only. I own 2 verizon flip phones and don't want to buy any new ones. Can I do this for $9.99 each?

However, if you do not want a contract on the new lines, (since you will have your own equipment), the activation fee will be $35.00 per line.  If you agree to a 2-year contract for the share lines, the activation fees will be $25.00 per line.
You can add the new lines by calling our Telesales Department at 800-256-4646.
    Thank you,
Really?!  I didn't know that made a difference...I thought secondary lines were $25 - well, ya learn something new every day!
And a side note - we added a line for my 75+ yr old mother with one of our old flip phones and CS was extremely kind in waiving the activation fee (I could have sworn it was $25 charged and credited on the bill), PLUS they boxed up the flip phone after activating it (with an out of state number to boot) and shipped it to my Mom, all at no additional cost to me.  I'm not saying that will be everyone's experience, and I was amazed the service rep offered to ship it for me - but I smiled and said "THANK YOU!" and accepted it!

  • Line activation confusion

    Hi
I recently moved into a new property with a stopped BT line (dialtone present but unusable for calls). From checking on the BT products website just a few days ago, it seemed to be the case that the line merely needed re-activating - a fairly speedy process incurring no charges.
However, when I eventually went to sign up, the situation had changed. I was now told that the line still needed re-activating, but quoted a £30 new line connection fee (discounted from £130 with 18-month contract).
There is still a dialtone on the phone, so I'm just exasperated that the solution is no longer quick and simple. Has the line been disconnected from the exchange?
    Thanks for any help!
    Matt

    Hi Matt76,
Thanks for the post and welcome to the forum.
It seems that our system is not picking up that the line in your home can be taken over without an engineers visit.  This is why it is prompting a full line provide.  Your phone may well have a dialtone which indicates it is still active.  The only thing that I can think of is that the active service is not owned by us BT Retail.  This means that it would be likely that we will need to arrange an engineer to get you on to service with BT.
Either way I can check this for you.  Please drop me an email to the email address in my profile. (click on my name and you will find the address under the "about me" section). Include your full address including post code and the link to this thread.  I will see what I can find out.

  • What is happening with my new line install?

    Hi,
I don't normally post on anything like this, but feel I am being left no alternative, other than cancelling my order.
I am a new customer to BT and on the 14th of May I placed a order for a broadband and phone package, which was to include a new line installation on the 5th June between 8am and 1pm.
I also ordered a new phone system and dual wifi dongle which all turned up as expected.
On the 5th June I took a day off work and waited until just after 2:30pm for the engineer not to turn up.
I received no call, text or email telling me that the appointment had been cancelled, it took me to call BT and finally manage to get to speak to somebody human to find out that it had apparently been delayed.
First I was speaking to somebody from the UK the next I was put through to order management in India, which started to infuriate me more as the line was really bad and I was calling from my mobile for then to have them hang up on me.
I called back a further 3 times after being passed from pillar to post to eventually get put back in touch with a order management lady in India again.
She told me that the problem was with openreach as they reckoned they had tried calling me on the 14th May (when I placed the order) to which I replied I had not received any phone call from them.
They wanted to know if it was a first or second line installation, I replied 5 times with it is a separate line that needs to be installed and I still don't think she understood after that.
I was then told I would get an update on the 12th June between 8am and 8pm as to when the line was going to get installed, to which I did and again was a bad line as the call came from India just to be told there is another delay which will be the 19th June.
At this point I'm beginning to lose my patience, I had waited nearly a month for the line installation to happen to be told that there was another delay which would take another 7 days before somebody updated me again.
After I put the phone down I received a text from BT sms saying they had tried to contact me but we're unable to do so but not to worry they will be back in contact on the 22nd June?
Very strange seen as I had just spoken to somebody and was told the 19th June.
I rang back through to BT and got put through to India yet again where the signal was poor and asked that somebody call me from the UK as nothing seems to be getting sorted.
Within 10 mins I got a call back and was put through to BT in Dundee, I explained the whole situation over again and was told they would be looking into the problem and would get back to me later on the same day the 12th June.
It is now the 17th June and I still have no answer as to when the line installation is taking place, so I can start using the equipment I have paid for.
if I knew in the first place that this was going to be a problem I would have used a different provider other than BT, as a new customer I find their lack of communication and generally not seeming to give a **bleep** about customers poor, with my only choice then being if I don't get the answers I want on the 19th June I will cancel the order and send everything back for a full refund and would advise others not to use BT in the future.
Sorry for the rant and this being my first post but I am beginning to lose my patience any help would be appreciated.

    Hi lda1979,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for your post.
I am so sorry that your order has been delayed and you are not getting any information on this.

  • PR...New line item not to be added

    Hi,
I have a PR where release process is at line item. After approval (Release of the PR) the system does not allow any chnages to the PR Line item . BUt it allows to add new line item to the PR. How do we check that the new line item cannot be added to the PR.
    Regards
    Nandini

    Hi
You can restrict changes to the PR after release by customisation. On OMGQ go to release indicator> choose the release indicator which once it is effected you do not want any changes...select the "details"  then  "changes after start of release process" - on the field changeability..enter " 1"  for cannot be changed.
This will work perfectly since no additional items can be entered once the PR is approved. if you only restrict by changing the field selection screen, additional items can still be added.
if for any reason you want  to make changes to the PR then the approver must reset the release.

  • I want to use two separate Lion Time Machine backups and use them to create two separate profiles on one new computer

This is something I need to do temporarily but I must do it.
I have an iMac 27 (end of year 2009) I5.  It has 1 TB internal and I want to replace it with a 2 TB internal.
I have time machine backups on an external hard drive that has been connected via Firewire.
I have another iMac (my son's)Imac 24 Intel Core 2 Duo that has it's own separate Time machine backup to it's own separate firewire connected external drive.  Both machines are completely up to date with the latest version of Lion and all other necessary software updates.
When the internal hardrive is replaced - I want to use my latest time machine backup to create one profile on the imac and then use my son's latest time machine back up for a second profile.  The end goal being to have everything from my current set up ie: apps, documents, itunes, etc existing in one profile and everything in my son's current set up existing in the other profile.   We can both be administrators for the time being as well.  I should note even though we both have some of the same apps, we both also have other apps that the other does not.
My profile will be using about 900 gigs of total space.
My son's profile will be using about 250 gigs of total space.
This is temporary until the new iMac is released.  Then I will want to transfer my profile to that leaving my son's intact on the iMac 27 I5.
I realize that during the temporary period that Time Machine will be making backups of this entire two profile setup, which I am now understanding as I write this will create a new issue for me when I want to transfer only my profile to the new computer as well.  But one bridge to cross at a time, I guess.
I need to do this because we must bring his current computer to my father - as his iMac G5 is inoperable.  We have been doing this round robin hand me down in our family since IMac DV special edition :-)
Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.  And any other suggestions as well.
    Thanks very much.

Hey Shootist000,  Thanks for the replies.  First off, I am actually okay if we both have each other applications so I am not concerned about that. It is still unclear from what you have said as to whether I can in fact, use these two separte time machine backup to create two separate profiles on the new hard drive.  If that in fact can be done, then - will it create two copies of the apps we both have in the ROOT of the drive as well as placing all the ones we each have separately?
And reading your second reply, makes me think that maybe the partition is the way to go to begin with and then down the road - after I am in the new iMac, I could reformat the iMac 27 with only one partion and restore my son's latest back prior to the reformat thus giving him full access to the 2 TB of the drive.
If this is still making sense, does this mean :
    replace the 1TB with a 2TB - but have it partitione - 1.5 TB & 500 GB.
Install(Restore using Time Machine) my latest back up prior to the  1.5 partition
Install (Restore using Time Machine) my son's latest back up prior to the 500 gig partition
Lastly, in order for us both to be using the partioned computer - I am assuming Switch user can no longer be used - so would we need to restart and select our respective partions in order to use the computer?   And if so, how would we each be able to be using time machine to back up - two separte external hard drives - with each one dedicated to only one partition? Or ?
    Thanks so much.
Ironically, I am only trying to do this so that I don't need to manually install all his apps, setting, games, blah blah for this temporary period.  :-)
