IPad fails to connect to Wi-Fi????

After eliminating e-mail's with no message my iPad fails to connect to my Wi-Fi, yet my Touch connects. How to resolve?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • IPad Fails To Connect To Netgear

My wife and I are on vacation at a location which has Wifi through a Netgear Router (I know this because that's what the connection says. I have no access to this router, so I can make no modifications to it.).
All of our devices connect to the internet just fine (including my wife's iPhone 4, my iPhone 5, my iPad Retina, and MacBook Pro. However, my wife's 1st gen iPad will not connect at all. When "Netgear" appears in WiFi settings, and we select it, the spinning symbol appears but it never stops and never connects.
    I have rebooted the iPad.
I have 'forgotten' the "Netgear" network.
    Wiped the Network settings.
I have even attempted to connect to the internet through my MacBook Pro (an art which still escapes me).
Her iPad has the latest version of iOS available for this model.
Any assistance would be appreciated - the sooner the better since we are only here a few more days.
    Thanks

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • IPad Fails to connect to wifi, but shows the wifi icon

My company just installed a wireless network in our building.  I was very excited because I can finally use my iPad in meetings and ditch the IBM laptop.  However, it does not want to connect to the wireless network.  Let me try to explain what happens.
    BTW,
    1. It is a new network so all the routers have the most up to date firmware.
    2. I have tried to connect with my iPad2 and iPad both without success.  The iPad was recently wiped clean and set up for my son.
    3. I can connect to my home network, my sprint mifi card, and other networks (hotels, starbucks) with no problem.
    4. Laptops can connect with out issue to the network.
    5. Others have been able to connect their iPhone to the network.
    6. One other person could not connect their iPod Touch to the network.  He gets the same response that I do.  I don't know anyone else with an iPad that works in my building.  However see item two above.
    7. It is using WPA security.
    8. I have reset network settings numerous times on both iPads and rebooted both iPads numerous times.
    9. I am able to connect to another wifi network in our building.  Both networks use the same security and password.
    This is what happens:
    1. Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi and choose my companies wireless network.
    2. It asks for the password and I type it in (Trust me I am typing it in correctly.  I have done it about a hundred times now.)
    3. Recieve the message "Unable to join the network," I hit Dismiss and Cancel.
    4. I get the Checkmark next to the wireless network I just tried to join.  If you click the blue arrow I get an IP address, but NO "Forget This Network" Option.  I also have the wifi icon next to the word iPad in the upper left corner of the screen.  It will also not load any Safari pages.  Safari states "Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet."
    I have also tried:
    1. Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi and choose "Other."
    2. Type in the SSID name and choose WPA, Type the password.
    3. Hit "Join" & get the message "Could not find the network"
    4. I hit Dismiss and Cancel.
Please help.  I have read many articles on this forum and tried everything without success.

If you are getting a 169... IP, then you are not connected. That is a self-assigned IP that the iPad is giving itself because the router is not giving it one.
Is it possible that you are not selecting the correct WPA security protocol for your network?

  • IPad issue when connecting to external server on 8.81 PL03

This thread is split off from "Extenally connection for the i-phone or i-pad. "
The issue is that the iPad fails to connect to an external server, while it did so successfully to a server on an ad hoc network setup.
In Integration Framework page -> Monitoring -> Authent. Monitor I only see feedback on the sap.Xcelsius scenario - again it says the info is from 8080 (while B1mobile is on port 8443, since Enforce Secure Transport = True for sap.B1Mobile?)
The attemps by the iPad to login only shows in the B1authcheck log. I have confirmed the time stamps.
I compared this unsuccessful log entry to my successful ad hoc network's log entry and it seems to break here:

I have tried connecting both via 3G and with the iPad connected to local Wifi.
SAP is 8.81 PL3 with the B1iC that ships with the patch. The iPad is running the 1.1.1 app.  Secure Transport is enforced (i.e. SSL is ON and port 8443 is in use)
    Any insight will be appreciated!
Edited by: Maria Trinidad MARTINEZ GEA on Mar 28, 2011 2:38 PM

    Hi Frank,
The SQL password was in the format Xxxxxx! - with '!' being the offending character.
As a consequence of changing the password, I had to reinstall B1iC (I could not figure out how to get it to use the new password otherwise).  Given that I reinstalled B1iC a few times in the preceding 20 hours' process of elimination, I don't think the reinstallation itself triggered sap.B1mobile into suddenly working.
Which leaves me to conclude that it was the '!' in the SQL sa password.
I am glad to hear that it supports special characters (elsewhere) now
I'd like to suggest to anybody having problems to install it in as simple an environment as possible, and to add layers of complexity (firewalls, special characters, etc.) only after you get it working.  There is little documentation for this process, which makes it challenging to troubleshoot from the top down.

  • IPad 3 with iOS 6 fails to connect to WiFi with WPA2 and AES - any solutions available?

    Hello *,
after upgrading my iPad 3 to iOS 6 it constantly fails to connect to WiFi with WPA2 and AES - hidden or broadcasted SSID - at home and at work because the device does not accept the WPA2 password. This is also the case for my iPhone 4S but both devices did work with WiFi (WPA2 / AES) perfectly with previously installed iOS 5.1.1.
I tried to downgrade to iOS 5.1.1 but it seems to be no longer possible to downgrade for both iPad 3 and iPhone 4S as the certification and signage window for iOS 5.1.1 maybe has been closed by Apple.
Does anyone know about a possible solution to connect to WiFi with WPA2 and AES with iPad 3 / iPhone 4S and iOS 6 upgrade?
Thank you very much for any help and advise.
    Best regards from Germany

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • TS1398 ipad suddenly failing to connect to a wifi network

My ipad refuses to connect to our home network, and yet it was doing so perfectly for several days. The laptop still recognizes and connects to the wifi perfectly, I've tried all the tips and suggestions provided on the apple help site, including resetting networks on the ipad, etc etc. No luck. Any usggestions out there?

Have you tried power cycling the router?
Does the iPad connect to other Wi-Fi networks?
You could also try to update the router or make sure it is setup in a way that is most compatible with the ipad.

  • ITeleport fails to connect thru new Airport Extreme

I have been trying all Summer to get an iPad I, running iTeleport, to create an external connection, (not wi-fi), to my MacBook Pro through Airport Extreme. I am using a dynamic domain server, (No-IP), and port forwarding in the Airport Extreme. (This is a brand new Airport Extreme.) Wi-fi and un-encrypted external connections work fine.
A non-secure, (un-encrypted) connection works fine but if I encrypt iTeleport, it fails to connect at all.
There was no problem with a prior router but when I replaced it with Airport Extreme it ceased working.
The iTeleport tech support has nothing left to try and Apple tech support cannot discuss it.
Wonder if anybody else has seen similar problem?
I hate to trash the Airport extreme but I am out of ideas.
Thanks for any help -- Jack
(OS 10.6.8 on the MacBook Pro)

    Jack,
I'm one of the co-founders of iTeleport.  What's your ticket number?  I'd like to try and see if there's something the team may have missed.  Email us at feedback at iteleportmobile dot com and we can take it from there.
    Thanks!

  • Facetime fails to connect

I am trying to FaceTime with my daughter in Sweden. I am using OS 10.9.4 on a MacBook Pro with Facetime 3.0. She is using an iPad mini with the current software. The query initally goes through and says "connecting" then fails to connect. I have checked the firewall settings in my Airport Extreme and the modem and they are correct, and have tried with the MacBook's firewall on or off without success. What am I missing?

Failure to connect is most commonly due to not being fully updated per http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5419 but that does not sound like your case.  Have you tried connecting by using the email address of the recipient instead of a telephone number?
