IPhone 4 external keyboard

Hi all, I was going to buy a apple wireless keyboard for my iPhone 4, but I came to a dilemma with my case and how it stand up. Sort of like a laptop. My belkin sheild micra case that was from the free case program didn't come with a stand or wouldn't fit in the apple iPhone dock that came with the 1st generation iPhone years back.(it fit perfectly without the case). I was wondering if there was a little mini stand I could mount it with or dock it with the case attached to use the keyboard with using bluetooth?

There are many little stands out there for just a few dollars or more. Google around. You can even make one yourself.
I purchased this Griffin one from the Apple store for $14.95. It works with the bare phone or bumper case, or any case. I liked it because it also holds the earbuds and folds closed. Will work in vertical or horizontal position for iPhone. On line or in the Apple store, can be purchased.

  • IPhone external keyboard

I heard rumors that MacAlly was supposed to release a BlueTooth keyboard compatible with the iPhone in March. I can't seem to locate it anywhere. Have they stopped making it already, or has it been delayed a few months? If it's not around, does anyone know of an alternative product, any folding external keyboard that would work with the iPhone?

The iPhone's bluetooth profile is currently limited to bluetooth headsets. This will be expanded with firmware update 3.0 to be released this summer, which may include/support connecting with an external bluetooth keyboard.

  • External keyboard for iPhone

I have a first generation iPhone - not an iPhone 3G.
Are there any available external keyboards available for the iPhone? I have a Palm and a Dell Axim PDA, and I have foldable keyboards that I can use with those devices.
When will there be an external keyboard available for the iPhone?

  • Pages - External Keyboard support or not?

I have spent many hours trying to establish if the current version of Numbers for the iPad supports navigation of the spreadsheet via the cursor keys on the external keyboard. There appears to be very limited support of moving the users focus with the keyboard requiring the user to double tap each cell they wish to insert or update information (which is a bit of a pain) If one of the Apple development team see this post can you please address the use of the external keyboard and using the cursor keys to move around the spreadsheet which will be immensely helpful. I noticed there isn't a export XLS function either.. please can you include this in the next release

You asking about Pages (word processor) or Numbers (spreadsheet)?
In pages, I've used the iPad for a month with the keyboard dock, and love it. There are some weird differences or things I wish I could do additional with keyboard shortcuts, but I haven't had a problem navigating in Pages at all using just the keyboard.
Now, Numbers, I haven't had a reason enough to buy it yet, so can't answer that.

If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.

  • How to turn on a MacBook Pro 15" from an external keyboard?

    Greetings,
Is there a way to power on a MacBook Pro 15" from an external keyboard?
    Insights and assistance appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Pierson

Nope. My setup is my laptop an external monitor with Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. I keep the laptop lid shut. If I have to turn it on, I have to open the lid and press the power button. But I rarely turn it off.

  • I need to reprogram the delete and enter key to the left side of a external keyboard for the ipad mini. don't need the caps/lock or ctrl key and due to an injury my daughter can only use her left hand to type. She is using a text to speech app to verbaliz

I need to reprogram the delete and enter key to the left side of a external keyboard for the ipad mini. I don't need the caps/lock or ctrl key. Due to a brain injury my daughter can only use her left hand to type. She also uses a text to speech app to verbalize all of her needs since her speech isn't intelligible any longer either. And her vision was significantly affected also, so the keyboard has to be mounted about 6 inches from her face. So to reach across the keyboard with her left hand to the right side delete and enter button is physically difficult and causes typing errors, which cause people to not understand what shes trying to say.
The best keyboard so far is the Zagg folio mini. I just had to make stickers to enlarge the letters on the key buttons.
Does anyone know how I can reprogram these two keys? Or where I can buy a wireless mini keyboard for Ipad made for lefthanders with these two functions on the left side. I have searched for days and days. It's sooooo important to me that she be able to contribute her voice again. Imagine if you got in a car accident and couldn't speak clearly any longer, but understood everything still. Thanks for any help and suggestions you all take the time to share with me. I really appreciate the kindness of strangers to help me help my daughter.

    You cannot.

  • How to set "display mode" from external keyboard

I have an EliteBook 8570p in a docking station, with an external monitor and keyboard attached.
I typically have my display mode as "duplicate", with the same thing  showing on both my laptop screen and external monitor.  I use the external monitor as the main screen. This might be uncommon, but I prefer it this way.  I've been working this way for quite a while.
I very recently started using MS PowerPoint 2013.  Today I discovered an annoying bug with this combination.  I was in "slideshow mode" for a pptx I was working on, and I pressed ESC to get back to editing the doc.  What happened was that the external monitor just showed my background wallpaper, and the laptop screen showed the normal display, along with my background wallpaper.  I then had to slide over to my laptop keyboard and press Fn-F4 and set it to "Duplicate", and that restored my external monitor display.
I'm definitely going to pursue this weird behavior with PowerPoint, but I'm going to assume out of the box that this will be difficult to change.  What I'd like to get from this forum is simply a quicker way to restore the "Duplicate" display mode.  Is there a keyboard shortcut I can use from my external keyboard to change the display mode?  There's no "Fn" key.

Although I'd still like to get an answer to this, my original problem has been solved, as I was able to disable the feature in PowerPoint 2013 that mucked with my display mode (turn off "Use Presenter View").

  • External display's brightness can no longer be controlled with external keyboard in 10.8.2

I can no longer control external display's brightness with external keyboard.
Until now my external keyboard controlled external display's brightness and MBPr's keyboard MBPr's brightness. Now the only way of changing external display's brightness is via Display preferences which is cumbersome
Is there any way of going to pre 10.8.2 settings?

I noticed that the keyboard and tablet were'nt working when plugged into a usb hub or monitor usb port.  I had to plug in the keyboard and tablet into a mbp usb port where they worked.  For some reason, after plugging them back into the usb hub they worked again.  Could just be dumb luck though.

  • RSI Issue: Need help on IBM/Lenovo external keyboards w Trackpoint? Pic

Need help on IBM/Lenovo external keyboards w Trackpoint? Pic
I started my journey with Thinkpads on a T42, then T43.. then T61, X61T, R61 & T410 (bought for 2 cousins & they love it), W510 (dads new laptop). I may be a much recent convert but I swear by them now.
MAJOR ISSUE: Recently started feeling RSI (Repetitive Stress) & Carpal Tunnel symptoms (already doing stretches.. adjusted the desk.. & finding new adjustable LCD stand) since I am not using the Thinkpad directly... but using it docked with an External keyboard. Lot of Mousing as well. I'd like to go back to Thinkpad FEEL... or atleast have keyboard with a pointing device so my hands dont have to keep moving back n forth.
So, it would be great it some of my fellow T4x/T6x/X6x 'ers would guide me a bit on this... share their first hand experience, or what they've seen on these keyboards and feel free to point me to reliable sources of information.
Currently this would greatly be use with T61 - Adv Mini Dock - 30" XHD3000 LCD as shown in my signature below.
Anyone who has used or know something about one of these Thinkpad related keyboard (ideally both of these to give a comparative response).
Which of the following have you used?
    How was the experience?
(Maybe point me to thread with peoples experiences)
If you've used several, which one do you prefer / recommend? Why?
At the moment I have a "slim" BTC 6200C desktop keyboard. It has laptop like scissor keyswitches, so I like it the slim notebook like profile.
The way I have positioned my 30" LCD I'd like to be able to keep the keyboard on my lap at times while on my chair and maybe on the desk at times.

I had the same issue - had to go to voice command for a few weeks (sucked) wore wrist gards to keep things netural.
Everything went away when I changed to a USB keyboard with the Ultra nav (I use the track point and disable the pad).
I've been working like that for 6+ years now... no issues.
(as a side note, sleeping with wrist guards on helped heal me the fastest.  I had neoprine, with a metal plate in them - from a local drug store)

  • Keys on external keyboard not working

    Hi folks,
I recently purchased a USB keyboard (extended numeric) for my MacBook Pro, and all has been good until this morning, when the V and Y keys (both lower and upper case) have stopped working, i.e. when I try typing with them, nothing appears. With the V key, the Edit button flashes, and nothing happens (that I can notice, anyway) when I try the Y key. (Thankfully my macbook keyboard is all okay.)
I wondered if the keyboard might have shorted, but all other keys are working okay.
    Any thoughts?

Yes, the built in keyboard works perfectly well, both with the external keyboard connected and disconnected. I'm hoping the external one isn't beyond help... it's such a pain to have to replace!

  • Outlook 2011 and Enter keys on external keyboard

I'm currently running Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro.  I connect a USB external keyboard and monitor and run in clamshell mode (laptop closed).  Using Outlook 2011, I have noticed that the Enter keys (one near the alpha keys and one in Numpad) behave differently.  For example, when typing an email, if I press the Enter key near the alpha keys, the cursor moves to a new line (behaves as expected). Pressing the Enter key on Numpad, the email gets sent (behaves unexpectedly).
Another example: when typing an appointment (or meeting request), pressing the Enter key near the alpha keys results in the cursor moving to a new line (behaves as expected).  Pressing the Enter key on Numpad results in the appointment saving and closing (behaves oddly).
I don't see any way of changing this behavior within Outlook 2011, nor do I see how to change this from within System Preferences.  Any suggestions?
One last curiousity for this issue: not all people seem to experience the same thing. I have spoken with three other individuals running the same setup (and hardware).  One person's Enter keys both behave as expected (new line), one person's Enter key behaves similar to mine, and one person's Enter keys behave differently (Enter keys behave as expected in email, but oddly in appointments).

Yes, the built in keyboard works perfectly well, both with the external keyboard connected and disconnected. I'm hoping the external one isn't beyond help... it's such a pain to have to replace!

  • What's a good external keyboard for MBP

Given that the MBP keyboard is so inadequate and Apple is seemingly too stubborn to give us a good one, an external keyboard is mandatory. However, I'm not sure what's good in the Apple world. There is, of course, the Apple keyboards and I'm going to take a look, but there are also some from Logitech and others. Does anyone have any suggestions on good ones? I purchased the iHome IH-K236LS, but just looking at it and feeling it and seeing that it requires a power cord is not making me feel like it's a good purchase. Plus the mouse feels incredibly cheap. Like something from a kids toy. And it requires two of the three USB ports (but does add two on the keyboard). Anyway, I'm thinking I'd better check into other possibilities, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

People have such different views of what makes a "good" keyboard, GTGeek, that it is almost impossible to make suggestions without getting a better idea of what your requirements are.
I grew up using manual typrewiters (Olivetti Lettera 32's etc), migrated to IBM and Brother electrics, and then nearly 30 years of different computer and data terminal keyboards.
In the early years, perhaps not surprisingly, the closer a computer got to approximating that of an IBM golfball the happier I was. Few computer keyboards seemed to have the "feel" or travel that I was used to. Despite this i gradually found I adapted to almost all of them.
I still have many of my older computers and I often get a bit of a shock when I use them these days! My favourite in days gone by on a portable was on the NEC8021a, but today when I use it the keys seem too sculpted and to have too much travel (both features I once really liked about it!)
The keyboards on modern MBPs , of course, are at the opposite extreme - flat keys and little travel. The same goes for Apple's own current external keyboards. I now use them all the time, but if you don't like the keyboard on a current MBP I doubt you will want to yourself. The feel is very similar.
The older white Apple Bluetooth keyboards had more travel , and more sculpting and a nice feeling of "solidity", but can only be found second hand these days.
I personally like the Apple Pro wired keyboards in days gone by, but, as with the white bluetooth they are now history.
I have two Logitech wireless and and a Microsoft USB keyboard tucked away in the draw (together with just about every keyboard Apple have ever made) . The Logitech and MS ones feel very "plasticky" compared to Apple offerings, but, as I said, I have simply adapted to the latter over time. You might find them fine if that is what you are used to.
On Mac notebooks my favourites in the past were those on the PB1400, the PB 12 and the earlier models of the MBP, but I've adapted to the current MBP ones now as well.
All of which adds up to the fact that the only way to decide something like this is to test them yourself, and, perhaps, to be prepared for a period of adjustment whatever you get before you can really judge it. Familiarity breeds contempt, they say, but in the case of keyboards it has always seemed quite the opposite to me. What you have been using most in recent times always seems to be the best after a while!
    Cheers
    Rod

  • Macbook air stuck in No bootable device, external keyboard not working.

    Hello.
Yesterday tried to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp. As everyone else got to "No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key."
After few seconds I realized that keyboard is not working. Googled it and found out that I need to buy an external keyboard. So I did.
Guess what, external keyboard is not working too. Tryed with different PC, it worked with them.
    So what now?

The Formatted test drive did not have Any OS on it. I just thought that since that was how I installed it originally, that it would work.
I put in SSD straight out of package, connected Firewire drive with SnowLeopard install, and it booted to it and asked me for to install to which drive, I choose SSD and it took off..
So what your saying is, do the same thing but hang SSD from broken Mini onto working Mini and boot up with same Firewire drive, and have it install OS back onto Broken SSD drive.
Assuming all of this works correctly, why would plugging it back into broken Mini work? Wont the Broken Mini still be looking for BootCamp to finish what it started? (just seems that way from what I've experienced so far)
