IPhone 4 / WiFi won't connect to iPhone

I have looked through 6 pages on this forum and not found my unique problem. I can go into my wifi networks, choose the one that I use when available. Once I select it, get out of the settings, the iPhone 4 will only show access to 3G. I have stood next to a friend with their iphone 4 and theirs will show the wifi bars, but mine will only show 3G. I can even walk right up to the wifi router and it will not pick up the signal even though it shows available in my settings and I had selected it. I have restarted the iPhone several times and still cannot pick up a wifi after selecting it within the wifi settings. Yes, of course, I have wifi switched on. This has happened only after upgrading to iOS 4.02. Does anyone have a suggestion? I live in a market without an Apple Store, so I can't go to a Genius Bar.

Left in the dust - please.
Is this your first cell phone? If not, it sure sounds like it.
EVERY cell phone manufacturer releases a new model or models EVERY year. With the manufacturers that don't, you may want to reconsider your choice since any manufacturer that doesn't release a new model or at least refresh an existing model or models on an annual basis or within a 2 year time frame will likely be out of business soon. This is the nature of the cell phone industry and computer industry which is certainly nothing new by a long shot.

MY home wifi won't connect to my iPhone 4S. It connects to every other device besides my phone! I've tried everything from troubleshooting! It can't find the wifi and when I reset network connections it now won't even let me turn it on! Pleaseeeee someone help this Is driving me crazy!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!

Try erasing your network preferences again from settings-about-reset and erase or something like this and try reconnecting if the problem persists try changing the name and password of your router and if you it keeps not connecting you will have to try restoring your iphone through itunes on your PC.
    Hope this helped.

  • After upgrading to iOs7, my wifi won't connect!!!

I did the most recent upgrade to iOs7, and now my wifi won't connect at my house. My two ipads, computer, and AppleTV all work perfectly, but my phone will not connect. I'm getting the error, "Unable to join the network (insert network name here)." I have tried to reboot my phone, as well as resetting the Network Settings. Please help!!!!

The new operating system seems to have an issue with apostrophes. At least when it comes to wi-fi.
Check out your device name. If it is called something like “Claire’s iPhone” it could be the apostrophe that is causing the problem.
To change your device name go to Settings > General > About > Name. Tap on the name to edit it and remove the apostrophe. Save the change. Switch off your phone and then switch it back on again.
    Your wi-fi should be working.

I just downloaded the ios 6 on my iTouch 4th gen, and my email won't work, my wifi won't connect, my iPod is more sluggish, and honestly I'm really frustrated. Is there anything I can do?

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.

  • IPad 3 IOS6.0.1 update, WiFi won't connect

I have an iPad 3 and my WiFi was working well with IOS6, until the 6.0.1 update.
Now under the settings it says it is connected to my WiFi (puts the network name in) but it actually isn't. When you look it is still attempting to connect. If you try to open up Safari or an App it says that you are not connected to the Internet. I forgot the network added it again still cannot connect. 6.0.1 bricked my WiFi.
Is there a way to restore back to IOS6? Or does anyone know a fix? I reset the network settings, probably going to do a hard reset soon.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Mavericks clean install - WiFi won't connect

    2012 Macbook Pro with Retna
I performed a clean install of 10.9 Mavericks and now my home WiFi will not connect.
I am able to connect to the hotspot on my phone, and I can connect to the wifi at work.
2 iPads, 2 iPhones, and 3 windows laptops connect fine.
Windows 8.1 in Boot Camp connects fine.
In Mavericks, while it is attempting to authenticate I can open a web page. Network Prefrences will show an IP address while attempting to authenticate, but it goes away after 30 seconds or so, then I get the message that the Wi-Fi network requires a password and the IP is gone.
As I say, the other devices all connect fine. I have cleared them from the devices and re-joined, so I know the password works.
I know the hardware is good because Windows in Boot Camp connects fine.

Dug into the discussion posts a bit more and found this solution that worked for me in case anyone else is having the same issue: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23478218#23478218
I booted up in safe mode, created a new network connection, logged into my wifi, reboot my MAC... then bam! It works. I'm connected to wifi again! Lesson learned.... wait for Apple to work out the kinks before upgrading. :-)

  • HP 6520 wifi won't connect

Just took a 6520 out of the box, trying to set it up/print to it from a windows 8.1 computer, after returning a 4620 printer that had the same problem.
Ran the setup software. Setup software can't even manage to figure out what wireless network the computer it's running on is connected to - useless.
Printer can find the wireless network, and when using the wrong password, won't connect, citing wrong password.
When I use the right password, it just fails to connect.
I've rebooted my router, rebooted my computer, rebooted the printer. No good. Print doctor software is useless as it can't even find the printer.
I've turned off MAC filtering on my router, and disabled Windows Firewall. Nothing.
I have an epson printer that has no problem connecting, and every other wifi capable device I own can connect to my wifi with no problem, from both Android and apple phones to tablets to four different PCs and laptops to my freaking nest thermostat. Why can't my printer manage to just work over wifi?
I do not have a USB cable for the printer (it wasn't sold with one), btw, so trying that is out (besides, I bought this as a wireless printer, not a wired printer).
    Help please.

    Hi MattMihaly,
    Welcome to the HP forums!
I see you have a Photosmart 6520 and a Windows 8.1 computer that don't seem to want to talk to one another. I'm sorry to hear this, but I will certainly do my best to help!
I would suggest you start by following the steps for Windows 8 in this 'Unable to Find Printer' Error Message Displays on the Computer During a Wireless Network Installati... document (make sure to follow the Option two: Connect with the Wireless Setup Wizard under Step five). If that doesn't resolve it, please try the steps under Your printer has never worked over the network in the HP Wireless printing center.
I realize you may have tried some of these steps, perhaps all of them, before but often trying them in a specific order is what makes the difference

  • Mac Mini WIFI won't connect in 10.6

Hi I have a 2008 Mac mini.  I got Snow Leapord and Installed it on my computer soon after it cam out, but there was one problem- it won't connect to WIFI.  Other computers work fine in the same room, and my own computer works fine when running windows, but won't connect in 10.6.  I have dongraded (or in my case upgraded) to 10.5.8 but am missing some of the fetures of 10.6, is there anyone else with this problem that has found a solution?

    Hi Adam,
There's not really anything you can do to reset the chip. What sort of wireless encryption is deployed at your place of work? Is it 802.1x or some other enterprise level security? I've definitely seen some "wonky" things with 802.1x and Snow Leopard, it's what is deployed here at the university I work at and support. If it's something more basic like WPA or WPA/2 or worse... WEP then you can try:
Deleting the saved wireless network location
    Creating a new network location
Removing any keychains associated with your credentials for the network
There are ways to "reset" the network software but it's pretty invasive and that's only a last resort. The fact that it works at another location just fine would tell me that there's no hardware/software problem.

  • Japan bought Macbook Pro Core Duo, Vista WiFi won't connect

I haven't used Boot Camp since beta 1.0 because I couldn't get the WiFi to work with the Japanese AirMac (airport) card that came with the Macbook Pro I bought while living in Japan. I figured the driver issues would be solved by the time Leopard released the full Boot Camp so I installed it and Vista. Well my wifi detects my home network but keeps telling me by passkey is incorrect (although I know it isn't) and it won't connect. Is this still a driver issue with the Japanese airmac and the US leopard I bought? Or am I missing something?

Just tried to no avail.  I also connected it via ethernet cable with no luck.  It wont even connect when hardwired that way.  I think it was something with the AirPort Utility 6.0 that just got updated on 2/26.  This issue has been happening since then the following items are showing as installed on 2/26:
MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.7
    AirPort Utility 6.0
    HP Printer Software Update 2.8
Mac OS X Update Combined 10.7.3
That is when everything went downhill.  I think it has to related to one of the updates listed above.

  • WiFi won't connect on iPhone but does on all other devices

So my wifi was working fine and 2 days ago it started to just not connect to my phone anymore.
It works on all my other devices but my iPhone.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

  • Iphone 5 wifi won't connect, says password is incorrect though it is not

I updated my iPhone 5 to the new iOS 8... Before this it connected to the router's wifi connection, but then afterwards it repeats the message that the password is incorrect. I have typed the password correctly, reset the network, disabled airdrop with Airfried, rebooted, and restarted the router. The phone will connect for an hour after the router is reset, accept the password, but then drop the wifi connection and then say the password is incorrect. So, I know it can connect, but the connection is lost and I repeat the cycle of having to restart the router every few hours. I'd like to make a permenet fix to this problem. Please help

For anyone coming late, the Verizon router is actually made by Actiontec, and has the same Actiontec model number. It's for the most part more reliable than most consumer routers, and problems with it are rare, but not unheard of.
The first step is to reboot the router. Turn it off for about 15 seconds.
If the issue persists go into the router settings and carefully check the MAC filtering. If it's on, turn it off and try again. There was a bug in the Actiontec, and I don't know if it was fixed. It allowed more MAC addresses in the whitelist than the router actually recognized. So if your whitelist had 12 WiFi addresses in it only the first 10 would actually work.

  • Airport wifi won't connect devices

I've been reading through these forums but none of the solutions have worked for me. I have comcast internet and an airport extreme base station. Wired connections through the base station work fine. But we've been having wireless problems for months. We have several devices of all kinds, Macbook Pros, iPhone 4 & 5, iPad 2, iPad mini, MS Surface, and even a wireless printer.
The problem is that the mobile devices frequently get disconnected. Sometimes they work fine, then all of a sudden, no data. Then I go into wireless settings and it says "not connected". I try to re-connect and I get the message "unable to connect". The wifi signal is still strong. Usually the laptops can still connect fine, though I've occasionally had the same problem with those. But this is a constant issue with iPhones and iPads. Every day. At certain times when this problem is happening, even Airport Utility losses track of the base station.
    Info
    - Airport Extreme Base Station. Firmware up to date according to Airport Utility.
    - Comcast cable modem. Confirmed with comcast that signal is strong.
    - Have tried hard resets of modem and router.
    - Have tried switching channels.
    - Have tried removing certain elements from the network to see if they were causing the issue.
    - Have tried reseting all devices.
    - Have tried different going up to 5Ghz. Some devices couldn't connect, so that's a nonstarter.
    - iStumbler says the signal is strong almost all the time. Every now and then I'll see my pecentage drop to ~20% for no reason I can see.
I have no idea what's going on here and I'm out of ideas. Any help is appreciated.

Okay.  After several hours on the phone with Apple Care and exchanging out my Extreme for another Extreme last night, I was still having the same issue.
Called Apple Care again this morning and we started down the line of things to do.  We noticed that when we reset it to the factory settings all of the devices in my home could connect to the internet via wifi.  So we tried creating a new network (with a different name then I had been using) and with a brand new password.
    It worked!!!
I am now in the process of re-inputing the wireless network name and password for all of my devices (which is a pain) but I am so happy to have Extreme up and running again that I don't even care.
I had read on another discussion post about clearing out keychains.... I tried this too but I am not really tech savvy so I may not have actually done this right.  The Apple Care Support person also said that it was probably something weird with my keychains....
I will update later only if the wifi goes down again
    I hope this helps!

  • File Manager Pro app --- WIFI won't connect to PC

The File Manager Pro (free) app won't let me connect to my home network URL.  I am trying to download files from PC to iPad.

In the iPad app (File Manager Pro), it recognizes the Router with the unique iPad address 192.168.1.13 and gives the instruction to go to your PC (in my home on the same router) and in your browser, type in http://192.168.1.13 to link the iPad with my PC.  I am trying to do so in order to copy files from my PC to my iPad without a cable or without using iTunes.  File Manager refers to this as a WIFI link using the address of your local router (in my home).
I really like all the features of File Manager Pro and believe that the above is how I am able to exchange files.
