IPhone 6 Plus won't connect to 2.4ghz networks but can see them

I just got an iPhone 6 plus that won't connect to any 2.4ghz networks. It will either say wrong password or unable to connect.
On my home network I had to change the band to 5ghz to be able to use my wifi and not all of my home devices are compatible.
Places that I went to test wifi:
McDonald's
Starbucks
Local Sports bar
Friends house
Does anyone know a fix? I tried resetting the phone, resetting network settings numerous times, turning off wifi networking in the privacy settings. Nothing seems to work and I am super frustrated. Can someone help?

I have tried replacing the phone, updating router firmware, running namebench to find fastest DNS, multiple reboots of phone and router, nothing helps.  5GHz band works like a charm but it doesn't penetrate to all rooms of the house.  One guy said problem was solved by running beta version of iOS 8.2 but I don't know how to download it.  Any success?

  • TS1398 My iPhone 4 won't connect to my home WiFi, but all my other devices are connecting to it just fine. Please help!

Hey everyone, I have been having this problem for about a day or two now. I have an iPhone 4, and have iOS 7.1.2. Basically, my iPhone will connect to my home WiFi sometimes, but it randomly loses connection and won't connect for hours upon hours. I have tried turning it on and off multiple times as well as resetting the network settings. I know that it is not my network's problem because a member of my family has an iPhone 5S, and it works fine with the WiFi, along with all of my other devices. This issue is getting very annoying as I don't like to use my cellular data at home since it is limited. Please help me!!

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
What happens when it fail to connect?
-----  Does the iOS device see the network?

    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Mac mini won't connect to 2.4ghz wifi, but 5ghz wifi fine

My virgin media router has 2 different wifi signals, 2.4ghz & 5 ghz. Although my mac mini can see both, if I try to connect it to the 2.4ghz signal it doesn't connect to the internet. Other devices, such as my ipad can connect sucessfully to both (some older devices will (as expected) only connect to 2.4ghz).

  • IPhone 5 won't connect to home wireless network

After updating to iOS 7 my iPhone 5 has been unable to connect to the wireless network in my home.  It will recognize it, ask me to input password, and then it will say it cannot connect.  I have shut the iPhone 5 on/off, turned on/off the wireless, turned on/off the bluetooth, and attempted to install the latest iOS update (but cannot because it won't let me unless I am connected to wifi).
I am having this problem with my MacBook Pro as well.

There is something wrong with your wireless router or network - especially if you have no problem connecting your iPhone and MPB with any other wi-fi network besides your own.
Have you tried resetting your wireless router and network in conjunction with the modem, and/or have you checked the manufacturer's website to see if there is a firmware update available for your wireless router model that has not been installed?
What type of encryption are you using with your wireless network - WEP, or WPA2?

  • Iphone 4s won't connect to ANY wifi networks

I can turn on wifi, see networks in my area but it won't connect to any. Any suggestions?

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.

  • IPhone 5 won't connect to any wifi networks

I have had my iPhone 5 for aabout 3 months or so. And a few days ago, it stopped wanting to connect to wifi. I have tried connecting to other wifi networks, so it's not just our router. I have also tried turning LTE off, connecting, and turning it back on. That worked for a few minutes, then stopped. I have tried forgeting the network, and reseting my network settings. Nothing is working. Thanks.

No, not yet. I've decided to just send it in to apple sometime soon.

  • IPhone connects to secured WiFi network, but can't access Internet

Problem: iPhone connects to my secured home WiFi network, shows WiFi strength bars at top of screen, displays checkmark, lock, power, and blue arrow on WiFi Networks screen; however, cannot access Internet, iTunes store, stocks, Weather or anything else.

    3. Microsoft router MN-500:
Tried this old router (the one I used before purchasing the LinkSys). It is an old (circa 2002) Wireless B base station with WEP Security. The iPhone was never able to connect to the Internet using various settings, many of which were duplicates of the LinkSys tests above.
On both routers my wife's Dell laptop and my HP printer connect without incident, using the same network/security settings.
I have always been able to connect to various unsecured WiFi networks; I have never been able to connect to a secure WiFi network (although the only one I've really tried has been my own).
I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any suggestions?

    SUCCESS!!!!!
I visited my brother-in-law yesterday and attempted to connect with his secure network. By sheer luck, he is using the exact same model LinkSys router. My iPhone connected first time--so the iPhone was eliminated as a source of the problem.
I didn't do a lot of troubleshooting at his house, but I did notice that his network was set for both dynamic DHCP and dynamic DNS. I know that either or both of Windstream (my ISP) and my broadband modem requires a pair of static DNS addresses.
Sure enough, delving real deep into Windstream's support site, I discovered a LinkSys router DNS help page, specifying how to set static DNS addresses in LinkSys routers. I then accessed my router, enterd the known static addresses, saved the router settings, then rebooted the iPhone and connected to the network.
    SUCCESS!!!
Thanks to Jane, who suggested it was an ISP issue, Jason, and all at Apple support. dumonj, I'll email you directly. Try this suggestion and see if it helps.

  • Face time I can't hear the person I call but can see them and there end works fine! Also it says they are busy and won't connect but they get straight through me

When using face time I can see the person but can't hear them they can see and hear me, also won't let me call them saying they are busy but they can call me

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

  • IChat audio and visual won't connect on my home network, but will on others

    Hi there,
So here's my problem: When I try to connect via audio or video with iChat 5.0.3 it returns and error saying iChat can't connect. Text chatting works just fine. It only does this on my home network; I can take it work and connect to work's network and iChat functions just fine. My wife also has a mac using snow leopard and her iChat doesn't work either. We can connect to each other on our home network and use audio and video chat, but just can't connect to other networks. I'm using ATT&T U-verse and their 2wire modem/wireless router (model 3600hgv) that came with it, along with an airport extreme.
After carefully studying the other posts about iChat, I disconnected the airport and just used the 2wire, modifying the port settings as per the port forward website. I realized that the airport could have been using DHCP in addition to the 2wire, that's why I disconnected it. After doing these things, iChat still doesn't work. I'm not sure where to go from here.
Any help would be VERY much appreciated

    Hi,
    Nice info.
Does the 2WIre device you have include having UPnP ?
Different manufactures put it in different places so it could be anywhere in the set up pages.
If not does it have Port Triggering (Special Applications) ?
You will need to use this as you want to use two computers with the same ports.
This needs a different set up to Port Forwarding.
Alternatively put the 2Wire in DMZ (This opens all the ports to one IP)
List the IP the Airport device gets.
(It would be better yet if the DHCP was turned Off - the Airport would then need to be set up for Static routing (Manually) to keep the same IP)
This is the closet number to your model
    http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/2wire/3800HGV-B/iChat.htm
Did you set all the ports ? (These are the iChat 3 set but cover all the ones iChat 4 and 5 use)
Did you do the bit at the bottom ? (move the items to the right hand list that you want to use - listing both computers at the text field that reads "JoannasDell" (one at a time if it allows two computers by this method)

  • My iphone 4 says its connected to a wifi network, but on the top it still says 3G. Therefore not connecting to the wifi

Certain networks that my phone used to connect automatically to, are no longer connecting. The wifi only seems to be connecting at my house and a friends house. Other locations it shows a check mark next to the network, but on the top next to the signal strength it still shows 3G, rather than the wifi symbol. Anyone else have this issue?

Thank you for your reply, if this is true about  the wifi not providing the connection to std wifi clients, what can i do to fix this? what does this actually mean? i dont think it will be the case of the network not having internet access becasue i am using it from a computer right now.

  • Can't see PC's on network, but can ping them, connect to server etc

    Hi All
    I'm experiencing something pretty bizarre.
I have a small network at my office. There are 3 PC's, and 2 Macs, one of them a Mac Mini running 10.6.5. All computers are set to the same workgroup. All the PCs can see all the Macs, no problem.
Yet my Mac Mini can (most of the time) only see the other Mac. (When I use Go > Network).
I can ping all the PC's from the Mac Mini. But they won't show up in the network view.
The annoying thing is sometimes I can see all the PC's (theres no pattern to it!) and I have connected to a printer on one of the PC's. With that particular PC, if I use 'Connect to Server' I get
'Select the volumes you want to mount on "packing-pc" but there are no volumes in the list.
Whats really bugging me is that sometimes all the pcs are there when I view the network, and sometimes they aren't.
ANyone got any ideas please? I'm pulling my hair out! I wanna ditch my PC at work but until I can print reliably (to the PC with the printer attached) I can't!
    Thanks in anticipation!
    Mark

I'm wondering if this is connected?

  • I'm connected to my airport network but can't get online

2 days ago, i was online and everything was working fine.
Yesterday, i tried going online and i was told that i was not connected to the internet even though i had full signal bars from my airport. I've restarted my computer a dozen times, checked all my internet connection settings, but nothing worked, i'm still being told that i'm not connected to the internet although internet connect says i am. contrarily, network diagnostics says i am not connected.
this happened to me once before over the summer. i gave up and didn't use my computer for about a week. when i tried using it again, the internet was just fine. however, i do not have the luxury of waiting a week because my school curriculum requires the use of the internet.
what's wrong with my computer and how is it that i connected just fine 2 days ago, but cannot since then? please help!

if relevant, my software versions are as follows:
    Safari 3.1.1
    Internet Connect 1.4.3
    Network Diagnostics 1.0.2

    You might want to update Safari to 3.12. I would empty the safari cache. (Safari>Empty Cache). Then quit Safari. System Preferences>Network>Show:Airport>TCP/IP. Insert the following into the DNS Servers box;
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
then hit apply. Now launch Safari. You should also try powering down modem, router and Mac and power up in 2 minute sequence; modem, router, Mac.

  • Can connect to my house network, but can't connect to the Internet (other computers can)

    Hello,
I'm experiencing a strange problem. Since I started my Mac Pro (cold start) some hours ago, I've lost the hability to connect to the Internet (Safari and Mail say I'm not connected). However, I can connect to 192.168.2.1 (my router) and see its webpage (it says it's connected to the Internet). If I use another computer on the same network, it can also connect to the Internet.
Weirder, if I go back to my Mac Pro with "no internet" and launch Parallels Desktop, then I can use WinXP to browse the Internet; I'm writing this post on my WinXP virtual machine.
This leads me to think there's a problem with how my Mac OS handles the networking. I have checked the Console, but the only related string I found is this:
    16.04.13 22:03:25
    kernel
    SIOCPROTOATTACH_IN6: en2 error=17
As expected, Google doesn't reveal anything about that (and I'm connected with the first ethernet port). I've tried to restart my Mac, but the problem persists (exact same symptoms).
Could it be a DNS cache issue?
I don't see, other than a DNS problem, why I can't connect to the Internet with my Mac OS while I can on my virtual machines. If it was a driver problem, I wouldn't be able to connect to my router. If it's a DNS issue, where are the DNS caches located in order to clear them (I'd trash the folder)?
I could also reinstall the OS (waste of time, btw), but I'd really like to understand the problem, not just clear it and forget about it.
Or better than guesses, anyone already experienced this?
    Any help welcome.

If it's a DNS issue, where are the DNS caches located in order to clear them (I'd trash the folder)
No DNS caches, it looks up the alphabetic and then uses the numberic from then on.
    http://17.149.160.49
is Apple, Inc main US web site. It that works, and the alphabetic does not, you have a DNS probelm.

  • Envy5532 - both PC and printer connect to WiFi router/network, but can't print from PC : (

I have a new Envy 5532 and I want to print from my Windows 7 Pro PC via my wireless network/internet router.
The PC is connected wirelessly to the internet through the router. The printer connects to the router/network without any problem. The printer also connects DIRECTLY to the PC wirelessly, and I can print from the PC if I disconnect from the router/WiFi network.
So the router comes up as a network on the PC, and the printer comes up as a different network. But I can only print through the direct connection, which means I can only print, not scan. Also, it means I have to disconnect from the internet in order to print.
I have run all diagnostics, installed the drivers, etc. but it seems to be a dead end.
    Any advise? Many thanks.

    Hi @DrivenDementet,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you cannot print from your PC to your HP Envy 5532. I am happy to help you with your printing!
    Please see the following guides:
'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Windows 7. (This guide will help you get online and printing).
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. (This guide will help you maintain the connection).
On top of the guides, I would also recommend this website, HP Wireless Printing Center, as there is some good information on wireless printing.
it is also very important with wireless printing that the PC and the Printer are on the same wireless network, otherwise they will not be able to talk to each other.
Hope this information clears things up for you, and have a great day!
