[iPhone SDK] Creating a Loading Screen?

Hi everyone,
I am wondering how I can create a "loading" view that will eventually load another view containing the data.
For example, View 1 will show the Activity Indicator while it is loading View 2 that contains an XML Document Parser that parses data from the Internet.
Is there an easy way to do this?
Thanks,
Christopher Zenzel

When you creating the loading screen and the screen with the XML data do you use a ViewController?
Where would I place the loading screen (addSubview) code and the XML data (addSubview) code to work with a loading screen?
For example: would I place the loading screen in the loadView() method and the XML Data in the didLoadView() or is there another way I should be coding this?
Please forgive me... I am a total newbie to Objective-C. I have been using Microsoft .NET for years.
Thanks,
Chris Zenzel

  • Iphone 5 stuck on loading screen after update. Need help!

So I lacked space on my phone to update to iOS8 via WiFi so I attempted to via desktop.
Seemed to be working well until I got to a loading screen on iTunes saying "Restoring iPhone Software".
Phone is also on loading screen and has reached roughly 1/10 of the way then stopped.
Tried unplugging it multiple times and it ends up doing the same thing.
I just want my phone to work without having to take it in to an Apple Store.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Probably should have left it alone.  Sometimes it will act as though it is frozen but it is still updating.  May have to do a DFU restore.  Hope you have a backup.

  • IPhone stuck at updating (loading) screen after ios7 update

I updated my iphone 4s to ios7 and itunes said it was succesfully updated and it would reboot but it's been on the updating/loading screen (apple logo with loading bar) for the past 20 minutes not moving at all...is it safe to unplug and try to reboot or should i just let it sit there for a while longer?

You should post questions about iOS7 beta to developer forums at http://developer.apple.com

  • TomTom europe v 1.9 iPhone 4 stuck at loading screen

I bought TomTom europe 1.9 on the AppStore for 90 dollars but after starting it, I only see the loading screen ( for about 49 min now!) i use an iPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1
    Thanks in advance!

It is a huge amount of data.  If it's the "Western Europe" that I have, it is 1.8GB after loading, and the load will probably need at least 3GB to do the job.  I suggest a visit to a pub, or do some shopping.

  • Iphone 3gs stuck at loading screen after reset all data

I bought my iphone 3gs about an hour ago and to have my privacy i reset first the network and next i reset all my data then it restart and now its still at the loading screen about 1hr. Thank u for the help!

    Hello KylaAquino,
It sounds like you are unable to boot your iPhone successfully after performing a Reset All content and Settings. I recommend first attempting to reset the device in this manner:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
From: Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If that does not get you booted to the setup screen, I would next try putting the phone into recovery mode, and attempting a restore with iTunes. This article will help you with that:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • Iphone 5s stuck on loading screen from icloud backup restore

Just bought my phone last night and went through the setup. I selected backup from icloud and it did its thing and then restarted... now it's stuck on the loading screen with the apple logo. The loading bar is barely loaded... I figured it was because I had a lot of data to load onto the new phone. It's been 10 hours because I left it alone for the night. Please help!

Had to have my new 5s replaced last night due to the hardware issue and had the same issue with 5s and iCloud restore, just stuck on the apple screen with a partial progress bar.   I was able to kill it and get into the phone but the restore would not finish.
I realized that my back-ups were from iOS 7.0.4 and the new phone was at 7.0.3 and becuase the restore was in the never ending progress I could not install the latest version.
I wiped the device,  settings -  general -  reset erase all..    and set it up a new device WITHOUT restoring from backup.    Updated the os to iOS 7.0.4 (settings - general - software update) and let it finish all the way.
After confirming the device was at the latest iOS version I then wiped the device again, settings -  general -  reset erase all...  and set up again and selected to restore from iCloud backup.
All is good.... restore finished and life is as it should be.

  • Iphone is stuck on loading screen

Out of the blue my iphone 3gs just shut off. i tried rebooting it but it just stays on the apple logo screen and it appears to be loading and then it shuts off but cuts back on, on its own!

I tried that as well. And restoring it from iTunes and the charging idea from above. It still shuts off and then if and when it does power up, it has the apple screen like it's resetting. If and when I get to the home screen, it shows my battery low and shuts off again - even though I just fully charged it. What is the next step - a repair shop? Or hopefully someone has some more tips? Thanks for the original posting of the issues - this is exactly why I came here today!

  • Iphone sdk beta5: blank white screen

I wrote a simple test app under beta 4, which broke this morning under beta 5. I can't figure it out.
The app simply creates a UIView that does a bunch of rectangle drawing on its main layer via drawRect callback.
When I run in beta 5, all I get is a blank white screen - both on the simulator and on the device. It's as if the view isn't created or something.
But, I can trace in the debugger and see all of my drawing code executed.
As a test I also tried setting the background color of the view. And of the owning UIWindow. I never saw color.
If I run the app in the simulator, without the debugger attached, sometimes (one in five?) it will run fine.
I don't see any errors in the console.
My main app continues to build and run fine. This is purely a nagging annoyance and a concern..
    Anyone else experience something similar?

    Fixed it.
Before there was IB for the iPhone, we had a slave over a hot cliprect and create the UI by old-world hand craftsmanship. My app still reflects those classic values, in that I created the window object directly:
    self.window = [[[UIWindow alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]] autorelease];
Apparently now the app does that automatically and then would slap it on top of mine right after creation. Since the original one had no content it was white. I was able to catch a very quick glimpse of mine (about 1 frame worth) before it was hidden one time which pinpointed the problem.
So removing the alloc for UIWindow in my code fixed the issue.

  • IPhone stops at the loading screen

I had erased all the contents in the iphone(using settings in iphone itself) now i face a problem that it never switches on it stops with an logo and a loading symbol .. I have tried switching it off and on and another reset by pressing the hold and sleepwake button..... I am hunting for answers all over the net can somebody suggest on how to clear this issue.....

Try placing your iPhone into recovery mode, which will require restoring your iPhone with iTunes.

  • IPhone SDK - how to dim screen?

Is it possible to dim the screen to save battery life? Our app uses UIApplication's idleTimerDisabled so we continue to receive input from sensors but at some moments the user interaction is not required so we'd like to dim the screen when this happens.
    Thanks!

I would like to do this as well, has anyone found a way to accomplish this?

  • Create loading screen in adobe muse?

Is there anyway to create a loading screen for my website in adobe muse? It looks bad until the background image loads.

Isn't a feature natively supported in Muse at this time. Feel free to submit your comment as a vote to this Idea - http://forums.adobe.com/ideas/1974.

    Hello,
    - Which update(s) have you installed ?
    - You should read this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
And do a Safe Boot and Reset the NVRAM / PRAM like described.

  • IPhone connects/charges on system boot up. When it gets to Windows 7 loading screen it disconnects.

    Hello to all who read,
I've usually used my iPhone with my iMac so perhaps that's the issue in itself. But now I've done away with my iMac and trying to connect and update my phones music library through the latest Windows iTunes. My iPhone refuses to connect to my laptop no matter which USB port I use. I've observed however it does connect to my laptop when it boots up and when it hits the Windows loading screen then it disconnects.
So I'm assuming there is something in the Windows set up that is making the iPhone disconnect when Windows loads. I've looked at multiple tutorials floating around but to no avail either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I desperately need to update my iPhones music.
    Cheers.

    Hi,
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory.  Post back with the details of any error messages.
If both the above tests pass, try the following.
If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD.  Download the relevant ISO from the links below.
    Windows 7 32bit
    Windows 7 64bit
You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  Once created, or if you already have this, insert the CD into the notebook and restart to boot from it.  Select the Repair option.
Select the 'Repair your Computer' option and follow Option 2 in the guide on the link below to run Start-up Repair – you may need to run this 2 or 3 times.
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html
If the above fails to help, make a note of any error messages you may get during the procedure and include them with your next post.
