IPhone WiFi will not connect to home network.
iPhone will not connect to home network. WiFi is on and correct password is entered. iPhone error msg says incorrect password. Reloaded network software and did not activate password but iPhone still shows network as locked.
Some people who experience issues connecting to or even seeing there Wireless network should follow these steps.
These steps are just a guideline and its not 100% that it will fix your issue.
Mainly, if the issue persists, its possible there is an issue with your iOS settings or a hardware failure within your iPhone or iPad, specifically the Wifi adapter.
You would want to follow these articles to do a reset & restore prior to saying it is a hardware issue.
#1: Reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
#2: Restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You will need to access your Admin control panel for your router.
If you have an Airport Extreme BaseStation, you just need to open the Airport Admin Utility found in Applications > Utilities Folder.
Enter your credentials and you will have access to the settings from there.
For a PC: Do NOT use the CD that came with your router. That is used for people who do not know how to setup a router properly and these settings will not be available for you in most cases.
If you are using anything other than an Airport BaseStation:
Open a web browser:
In the address bar, type:
192.168.1.1 (Mainly used for Asus, Linksys, etc) or 192.168.0.1 (D-link,Belkin)
How to figure out what the IP address is to type in?
Windows:
Hold down the windows key, then press R. This brings up the run box. In that box type "cmd" (without the quotes) and press enter. In the black box that pops up, type "ipconfig" (without quotes) then hit enter. Your default gateway is the IP address for your router. It will start with 192.168.....
Take that number and put it into the address bar in your browser and hit enter. It will then ask you for a user name and password. For linksys, it's admin for both. If you have another brand, just google "default password for ******" replacing the asterisks with the brand name of the router. Once you have entered the correct user name and password, you're there.
Mac:
1.From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
2.In System Preferences, from the View menu, select Network.
3.Select the appropriate port. For example, choose Ethernet for broadbandconnections, AirPort for wireless, or Internal Modem for dial-up.
4.Click Advanced... , and in the sheet that opens, click the TCP/IP tab.
The number next to "Router:" is your default gateway.
Once you get into your admin panel do these setting changes.
1.On the router change the channel for the 2.4mhz band to channel 1, 6, or 11 (recommended), rather than auto.
2.Also set that channel width to 20hz only, rather than 20hz or 40hz (Auto)
3.Make sure Security is set to WPA/WPA2-Personal. Anything else will cause issues. (of course, make sure you know your password for security)
4.Make sure to Apply/Save these settings. Sometimes the wireless connectivity will go out during this change and will come back on within 15-30 seconds.
5.On the iPhone/iPad go to Settings > Wi fi > click the blue arrow beside the network > Select Forget network
6.Go to Settings > general > reset > reset network settings
7.Power the phone off and on. Connect again

Hello my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi
Hello to all, with my iphone 3g can not connect to home network via wifi. This only happens if I apply protection to the network. Unprotected my Iphone connects fine. Obviously the password to write error-free. I can not figure out what depends on this factor, however, another iphone connects fine. Help me please.
I have a similar, but slightly different problem. My iphone 4 recgonizes my home wifi and shows it under Settings, but will not access it, no signal shown, just 3G. It will access other wifi signals. My wife's iphone works fine, as does an ipad and macbook. This is new for my iphone, about 2-3 days.
Help! I reset network settings and rebooted the router (Apple), no avail -
My iphone 5 will not connect to my home wifi or Bluetooth after I completed the iOS 7.1.1 update. Before the update I was able to connect to my home network with no issues. Now it rarely finds my home network (unless I'm right in front of the router and even still the signal is weak) and when it does find my home wifi network it frequently disconnects from it. I followed previous suggestions to turn off router or forget network settings and re-establish them but it continues to happen.
This also happening with my Bluetooth connection. My iphone 5 would automatically connect to my home phone Bluetooth prior to the iOS 7.1.1 update. But now my device no longer connects, which means my home phone no longer rings when my cell phone is ringing.
I probably would be less worries if I did not have to monitor my data usage with Verizon. However, I do have a limited amount of data to use and I recently reached the max and had to pay extra money due to my wifi being unable to connect. Can anyone please help me with fixing this?If you have Applecare take it back to the shop and demand a replacement. If not you're stuffed. It's a bug that they've put in the software to get you to buy another iphone. You can maybe warm it up with an hairdryer near the speaker and then turn it off and put it in the freezer for 10 mins then retstart it and wi-fi is there. It could also be a problem with the chip, if you do the freezer thing it comes back.
Apple knows its a problem as there are millions of people out there that it is happening to, in my opinion get shut and get a Samsung!!!! That's what i've done and love my new Samsung S3 Mini miles better than the iphone!!!!
Go on youtube atnd look how many millions of people this has happened to.
Someone needs to put this in the media so they will actually do something the robbing bleeders!!!!!
Also whatever you put on these discussions will get it wiped if Apple don't like what you put!!!! -
Brand new iPod 5 and periodically will pick up our home Wifi, but when it loses it, it's impossible to reset. Says "incorrect password" and it is the correct password. No issue at all with Android devices or anything else on Wifi. Only the iPod and an iPhone 4. My iPhone 6 had the same issue, but I was able to correct it by resetting the network. This "fix" doesn't work on the iPod or old iPhone. Just keeps saying "incorrect password" no matter what you do. Connection has been reset, passwords have been changed... Nothing fixes it. And both are operating on the latest iOS update. I just updated it. Still doesn't work. How crazy.
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network. Yes
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before? no
Try the following to rule out a software problem: (Not clear what you did)
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. Since it connects to other networks that indicates a problem with your network
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar -
Please help new iphone 4s from verizon will not connect to my home wifi. I was able to connect to my sister's home wifi without any issues tonight, but now at my home and says password is incorrect. The password is correct. I have an ipod touch gen 2 that connects with no problems.
make sure your home wireless network is not "hidden." Settings -> Wi-Fi -> select your home network, it it's hidden, select "other" and manually type in the network name, password, and select security type.

IPhone 3G Will Not Connect To Home Wi Fi Password Issue
I discovered a solution to a password issue that I did not find a solution to here. I am posting it for karmic equity.
I have a brand new CISCO N wireless router set for WEP. I did not have security on my old router.
When I tried to join my secure wireless network, iPhone 3G would not accept/ recognize my new network password ("Unable to join the network ...."). Even I entered the correct "password" I could not get on the network. I could join onto the network as "guest" using my password but only as guest, and I had to go through the Safari browser, Wi-Fi Networks, Choose a Network.... would NOT work as guest
To connect iPhone to the password secured network (and it will automatically join in the future:
GOTO Settings
GOTO Wi-Fi Networks
GOTO Other Network
Enter name of your network
GOTO Security
Select your security (mine is WEP)
GOBACKTO Other Network
PASSWORD: !!!! Not my "network" password!!!! Its actually my "wireless key" which is like 8476G29765. CISCO refered to it as the "PASSPHRASE". My password only gets me into the router, or connected as "Guest" but not connected to the network.
Note please that I could long onto the network as "guest" using my password, that was something like "password". Again, to log onto the network I had to use the kryptic "8476G29765" passphrase that my router generated, but I entered it in SETTINGS / WiFi Networks/ Other Network....
Other methods may work as well, I dont know, but this worked like a charm.Try restarting your WiFi routers by removing power for 30 seconds. Note that WiFi is not automatically fine just because some devices may be working with it.
On your iPad use Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings
Try to connect. -
Wifi on iPhone 3G will not connect to any networks
My iPhone 3G appears to no longer want to connect to any wifi networks.
I have two encrypted networks at home, both of which it is authorised on, and last week it decided not to play on either network. I have trouble-shooted (trouble-shot?) this by doing the following:
- factory reset of iPhone (no restore of my settings)
- unprotect wifi networks & try to connect
- try to connect to known open public wifi networks
- cycle wifi on and off again on phone
- cycle airplane mode on and off
- cycle phone on and off (hard reset)
- restore of my settings to iPhone and try connections again as per above
In all cases I get the same message telling me the iPhone was unable to connect to the wireless network but no other information.
I'm suspecting a hardware fault, but before I lose my iPhone to a couple of weeks diagnostic testing does anyone have any suggestions for other things i could try to see if I can get it working.
Thanks
AndyYea - I've tried public wifi hotspots too (many of them which I know worked before) and none of them can be connected to.
I fear I will be phone less for a few days while Apple assess this to see if there is a fault with it. -
IPhone 4 will not find my home network
I bought an iPhone 4 two weeks ago and I still cannot get it to detect my wireless home network.
I use a Time Capsule as my router, which is plugged directly into my modem via ethernet.
My Macbook can find my network/TC fine, and has done since I bought it.
My wireless settings are 802.11n only (5GHz) with wireless security set to WPA2 Personal.
I tried changing my settings and found that the only one that worked at connecting my iPhone was 802.11n(802.11b/g compatible), but it caused serious problems.
The connection between my TC and Macbook was severely reduced, and it could not detect my TC in Airport Utility, so it would not run the Time Machine back-up, and I was unable to get access to the settings to change them back.
I had to do a full reset on my TC(power down, hold reset button in and power on again) about six times before I could get it all working properly again and get access to the settings.
If I try to manually search for my network on my iPhone, it still will not find it.
It will find other peoples networks, but not mine.
And my current settings are the only ones that work perfectly with my Macbook and Time Capsule.
Any help?My wireless settings are 802.11n only (5GHz) with wireless security set to WPA2 Personal.
Therein lies your problem.

I also have a TC which supports simultaneous dual band. I have two bands or networks - one 5GHz for my MBP, Time Machine Backup, and Apple TV, and another set to 2.4 GHz for my iPhone. The name for one of the networks includes 5GHz with the name and the other doesn't, which is the one I connect my iPhone with. -
Iphone 4 will not connect to wireless network
I have went to phone settings and connect to a network. The phone says known networks will be joined automatically. I clicked on my network, put in my passcode and it does nothing. I'm doing this to print pictures from my iphone 4 to my wireless printer.
I believe being able to print wirelessly is the best invention ever! With that being said, are you using the Air Print on the iPhone?

Have you been able to get a WiFi connection on the phone?

My iPhone 4s will not connect with my home WiFi network. I have ios6 on my iPhone. The connection was working perfectly before I updated my IMac and my MacBook Pro to ios 10.8.2. I have had ios6 since I purchased the phone a couple of months ago. It searches for a network and finds them, but when it asks for my password, it will not accept the password. Have never had this happen before.

IPhone will not connect to home WiFi
new iPhone 4 6.0 will not connect to home wifi--other apple products (iPad & other iPhone 4) will connect to home WiFi--I experienced this problem with first iPhone 4 received 11/13--got new phone 11/26 and STILL can not connect
Is this a password protected network? Go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings. After that, try to connect again. This reset will remove all password and wifi information from the device and should give you a clean start to connect to the home network.
