Ipod works but is slow to react sometimes...

i recently got the INVISIBLE SHIELD and applied it yesterday at around 3:00...since there was a lot of water involved i made sure i was going to wait the full 24 hrs that are recommended. later i found out that just 3 hrs after being applied, my brother had turned on the iPod. today at 4:00 i put it on my dock and when i took it off...the message on the screen said "Charged" with the full battery indicator. this stayed for well over a minute after taking it off the dock. can anyone tell me if this has to do with the invisible shield or just because the hard drive was taking time to respond or something? i posted this b4 but nobody replied

  • NT realm works, but appears slow and unconfigurable

Using WLS 6.1sp1 I successfully have authentication working
    using the NT realm.
The most simplistic cases work but I'm having trouble with the
more complex cases. BEA does not provide examples on these:
#1. Listing Users/Groups from the console is extrememly SLOW.
Similar to Frank Febbraro's post (5-2-2001), whenever I
click on Security->Users from the console it takes 15-20
minutes to respond. Likewise, the Security-Groups option
never returns (Frank mentions it takes 30 minutes??)
#2. You can specify roles and principles, but not domains.
In the weblogic.xml descriptor I can specify principles or
roles using the <security-role-assignment>. But what I'd
like to do is not limit access to a proper NT group or
weblogic role, but rather an NT domain. That way any user
in the domain that is authenticated can access the resource.
I've heard other developers want this functionality as well.
#3. One domain works, multiple domains do not.
According to the "Managing Security Document"
you can run the weblogic server on various machines,
including a "mutually trusted domain". What is not
stated is how to authenticate using those trusted domains.
For example, logging into the web brower using HTTP
challenge/response may work for the following username:
    myusername
    But this will not:
    mydomain/myusername
    nor this:
    mytrusteddomain/myusername
And from within the console the Security->Filerealm tab
only allows selection of one realm, not multiple.
Anyone know of any further reading/examples for the NT realm?

Yes. This has been a problem for a lot of users with NTRealms. The speed
issue has something to do with the way the console loads users and
groups. BEA is looking into the issue of why it is a problem for the
console to enumerate through group and user membership.
It is fairly fast, however, when the cachingRealm is simply cleared,
because different calls are being made internally.
So although this is definitely a performance issue with the console, you
should find that there are not performance problems for the "normal"
functioning of your realm -- authentication lookups and the clearning of
the CachingRealm should be reasonably fast.

Right. It is not possible to restrict access to a certain NT domain right
    now.

Again, this is unfortunately expected behavior.
If you have 2 NT machines with a trust relationship, and you are using
these machines as the user/group store for WebLogic, there is no easy way
to get WebLogic to differentiate between a user/group on machine#1, versus
a user/group on machine#2. Weblogic views all users and groups,
regardless of where they are found, exactly the same -- exactly equally.
That is why you notice that specifying /mydomain/username or
    mytrusteddomain/username both do not work.

Right again. (Man, I seem to just be piling on the bad news right now.)
You can only have one "alternate" realm hooked into WebLogic at a time
    currently.
I hope this helps answer your questions, even if most of the information
isn't exactly what you wanted to hear...

My ipod works and does all other functions but even with the volume all the way up, no music plays when my earphones are plugged in. I've checked the earphones with my other ipod and they are fine. Someone help!!! and yes I've already done the restore and made sure the software is up to date

If yo still have the problem after restoring the iPod to factory settings/new iPod that indicates a hardware problem and appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. It could be a bad headphone jack. A third-party place like the following si a lot less expensive of getting it repaired by Appe since Apple on exchanges the iPod for this price.

  • Ipod works but buttons don't :(

    Hello.
Last night I was listening to a long audio book and fell a sleep. The ipod kept playing the book the whole night and was still ongoing when I woke up.
The sound and everything was going fine but they buttons don't work! The hold button works fine and the ipod turns the backlight on each time I switch it on and off and I can see the little lock icon in the corner, so I can safely say that the ipod works fine except the buttons don't respond to anything.
I've tried the 5 steps, tried plugging it to my computer or just electricity, but nothing works and I can't let it run out of juice since it just automatically switches off because of no activity. And obviously I can't restart it since the buttons don't work.
Any ideas of how to fix it?

  • Macbook Pro 10.6.8 constantly drops my wi-fi network and joins Linksys which works but very slow

My Macbook Pro constantly drops my network and joins Linksys. It connects to the Internet but is painfully slow. Choosing my network again works for a while than goes back to Linksys. Any sugestions?

Try going to system preferences/network/advanced, airport tab, in the prefered networks pane highlight and drag your net work to the top of the list. See if it then chooses your network as prefered, hope this helps.

  • IPod working, but no sound

I have a 30gb video ipod. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I used it with great results in my car, with an itrip and at home on an iboom. Then it just stopped working. The strange thing is, it is not a hardware problem, because when I connect it to either of those, or to my PC, it recognizes and charges the ipod. The ipod lights up as if it is ready to play, but if I put a song on, no sound comes out. Just to be safe, I tried my friend's ipod on both and it worked fine. It also doesn't work with headphones
I ran diags on my ipod and everything is fine. I have reset the ipod. I have updated my software to 1.2.1 on the ipod and 7.3 itunes. I wasn't really looking forward to restoring it, but when I realized that was all that was left, I did it.....no help. Still not working.
The "genius" in the apple store said he has never seen anything like this before. I have an appointment with another genius on Monday, but I was hoping maybe you guys would have an answer for me....I have always had more luck here than anywhere else.
My warranty ran out 2 weeks ago, but I had forgotten to extend the apple care, so I am probably screwed, right?
Has anyone ever heard of this happening?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Nicki

    Thanks Deggie,
I see no signs of damage. It is also not working with my headphones and it charges ok, so I figured it couldn't be the pins...which had been my first assumption.
I went to a couple 3rd party places online to see if they knew what it could be and got 3 different answers....headphone jack (which I know it isn't), system board and logic board. I have an appt tomorrow with the apple store, so I'll see what they say it is and then buy and fix the part myself. I did that with my old nano and it is alot easier than I thought it would be. Since my apple care is up (2 weeks ago, of course) it will be cheaper this way.
Stupid question coming, but whatever....logic board and system board are both differnt things right? Cause when I go online to see prices, most sites have one or the other, but I haven't found a site that sells both, which is starting to make me think they are the same thing.
    Thanks Again for any info...

  • New 80gb iPod works, but not shown as a disk drive... help!

    Hi,
My brand new iPod is not show as a disk drive, even though it shows on iTunes, and has been updated, synchronized.
Even after enabling disk use, it still isn't there.
It is on the device manager, and it says that the device is working ok.
I have restored the iPod, and rebooted several times, but i still can't use it as a hard drive.
    Please can anyone help!
    Regards,
    Adan

hmmmm. occasionally that behavior is a symptom of a Windows drive letter confusion. see:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • My ipod work, but my computer don't reconize it???

    Hi everyone!
Tanks in advance for helping me, cause im very depressed!
My story is a bit long to explain, but i think i should details to solve the problem! (Sorry for my language, im french!)
All begin a little bit earlier today when i connect my iPod to is deck. I eard a noise that i did'nt ear before. You know when a disk skip, or something like this. And, my computer was not reading it (neither in windows or iTunes)
Then it's was impossible to disconnect my iPod.
When i finally succes to disconnect it (with Safely Remove Hardware) i was not able to turn off my iPod.
then i reset my iPod and saw the little apple. Then, a file with an ! came trought the screen.
I follow all the instruction in this site, and nothing work it out! So, i decided to erase and restore all of my iPod. but again, it was impossible to connect to my computer?!
A message occured that tell me that the formating have failed and my computer turn off by himself!
Then, i take my iPod and check if is work. All was erase...nothing was left. The i uninstall iTunes and iPod program and download the latest from apple site. Again, the computer don't reconize my iPod. When i finally remove my iPod from the computer, all my song were back.???
But, when i see the option, thats tell me that i have 3759 song, a capacity of 37,1 Gb (that was normal)but only 58 mB available. And i still can connect my iPod to my computer!
If somebody can help me before i ship my pod to apple, it will be greatful!
Tanks and sorry for the language!

When you unplug your ear phones, peek in the audio output port and look for a red light.  If so, the switch is stuck and these are the options for remedying the problem.
    1. Stick the earphone plug in a few times.
    2. Blow in it real hard or use compressed air.
    3. Jiggle a tooth pick or the like inside the port.
If no success, then it is time for an appointment at a genius bar.
    Ciao.

  • Server working but very SLOW on MacMini

I've installed 10.5 several times now in the 3 different modes just to familiarize myself with it before i setup everything else. Now after the initial install and config as an advanced standalone server i did a software update and then added the services I need for the moment:
    afp
    ftp
    mysql
    web
and all works fine, the webserver with php5 and mysql (including phpmyadmin), ssh, no problems. However, all the connections to the server via the Server Admin or Workgroup Manager take a very long time. Launching Server Admin takes about 45 sec until the main window is displayed, then i get the spinning beach ball for around a minute, authenticating to my server so i can change setting will take up to several minutes after i click 'Connect' (with the beach ball spinning again). A refresh or clicking save after having changed options of any of the services or server also take close to or more than a minute.
I've tried using the FQDN (mydomain.net) or the myserver.local or the IP adress of the server but there is no difference in speed.
Login into the server via FTP and Navicat (mysql admin tool) also takes a very long time, around a minute or more.
Login in over SSH from another machine on my network (by using the FQDN) is very fast however, only takes a couple of seconds to display the password prompt and login.
Is it just the MacMini which is underpowered, i couldn't detect any processing overload on this Core Duo 1.83 with 2 GB of RAM (and nothing else running).
This slowness was the same whether i installed a 'Standard' 'Workgroup' or 'Advanced Server'. In all cases the web-server and mysql respond very fast.
    Thanks for any help

I'm running my leopard test server on a 1.6 mini with 2gb of ram and it's not exactly a speed machine but I wouldn't call it slow either, certainly not what your describing. I'm not running mysql or FTP though. I'm primarily using it for podcast producer but I've got all this running in my various tests:
    AFP
    iCal
    iChat
    Mail
    NetBoot
    NFS
    OD
    PP
    Quicktime Streaming
    SMB
    Web
    Xgrid
I'm not really sure what to tell you. I have SQL running on a windows box and it slows down windows significantly. Did you play with it at all before turning mysql?

  • Latest version of skype version works but VERY SLOW

I have a capable mid range gaming notebook that runs any and all sorts of applications with no lag. Until... I start up skype. When skype is running it freezes every 10 seconds and it makes my other programs slower. The other programs run well when skype is closed. So I assume the issue is with the latest version of skype. I used to have this problem with skype half a year ago so what i did back then was disable automatic updates then download an older version that worked. But now that skype wont accept the use of older versions I need another solution to fix the horrible lag.

  • IPod recognized but incredibly slow in iTunes

I recently formatted my computer to Windows XP Pro again, as it was due for a fresh format. However, after redownloading iTunes and connecting my iPod, iTunes is now unbearably slow (it wasn't before the format, but nothing has changed). Every single task takes minutes to respond. It is exasperating.
More importantly: every time I connect my iPod, it treats it as if I've plugged in a brand new iPod. It pops up the set-up windows asking what to name it, whether I want it iTunes to automatically update my songs, etc.
Can anyone help? Simply updating my iPod with new music is suddenly an hour-long process. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and deleting the temp folder, but to no avail.
    Thanks very much,
    Zack

My ITunes (7.4.3.1) is doing the same thing. I can't update my new nano with songs I've been purchasing and it's constantly acting like I am plugging in a new ipod everytime I plug in my nano. Tonight it told me that my ipod appears to be corrupted and now it's just hanging.
Any help out there for this?
    Thanks,
    Joselyn
