IRM 11g Features

Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding 11g
1 - With the journal that stores client activity, it appears to only allow the recall of 5000 records via webservices, is this changable e.g. where a deployment has a number of users>5000?
2 - When updating rights (with a 3hr refresh period), even where the user synchronises a number of times, the user's rights do not appear to update before the end of the refresh period. Is this the way the system is now configured. I believe previously in 10g, the refresh period equivalent was the maximum time it took to refresh?
Thanks

Hi,
1) The searchJournal() operation on the web services limits each request to 5000 records, however by using multiple requests it is possible to get back more results. To get further results you will need to alter the page range parameter to request the next page of results.
For example after getting the first 5000 records you would call searchJournal() again, but this time with the page range 5001-10000.
pageRange.setFirst(5001);
pageRange.setLast(10000);
List<ContextJournalEntry> journalResults = contextOperations.searchJournal(
null, // no accounts filter
null, // no item codes filter
timeRange,
pageRange,
null); // no sorting details
2) This shouldn't have changed in 11g. It's not really my area of expertise, I'm sure somebody else will jump in with some suggestions on this one.
Regards,
James

    Hi
UCM 11g and IRM 11g integration is not available in componentized form (as was the case with 10g) . You will need to use HotFolders approach to get the requirement done .

    Hello!
Where can I find a list of the 11G features or roadmap? Is there such a document?
Also, when is 11G release planned?

No, not yet. Watch ONT on the SOA related pages for upcoming releases. The first upcoming release will be a maintenance release for 10.1.3.

  • UCM 11g & IRM 11g integration

    Hi All,
Can anyone explain the mechanism to integrate UCM 11g with IRM 11g? Even if you can provide pointers to relevant documentation, it would help. We have done integration on 10gr3 version of both products but not sure if same methodology will apply on 11g version too.
Any inputs to clarify this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

You need to contact the UCM product manager, Vijay Ramanathan, for scheduling information. I'm sure he'd be very interested in your plans.

  • Oracle IRM 11g & Sharepoint

    Hi,
Can anyone list the documentation or steps how to integrate IRM 11g and sharepoint 2007 & 2010
Also how to configure Microsoft SharePoint to search sealed documents.
    regards,
    k

    Hi
We don't have any formal documentation for integrating with SharePoint. There is no out-of-the-box integration for automated sealing and rights delegation; but you can use the APIs (described in detail in the Developer's Guide) as several other customers have done.
For example you could use Web Services or Java API to automatically seal files in a particular workspace when they are checked in. If you don't want to perform the integration, you could simply run the Hot Folders open source project on your SharePoint server to perform the same functionality.
There is an out-of-the-box integration with SharePoint Indexing Service: this is described in detail in the knowledgebase article 471857.1 - Search and Index Sealed Content in SharePoint 2007 Repository in My Oracle Support (support.oracle.com).
To find links to the Developer's Guide and the Hot Folders project got to the Oracle Technology Network page for IRM: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/content-management/irm/develop/index.html

  • Integration UCM 10g with IRM 11g

    Hi,
is it possible to integrate UCM 10g with IRM 11g ?
    Thanks..
    J.

    Hello J,
Sorry no you can't do this. IRM Server 10g had a basic integration with UCM 10g. The integration will not work with IRM 11g. I know there is an internal project to integrate UCM 11g with IRM 11g and that this will be far far superior to the rather simple implementation that was done in 10g. It's a ground up revision driven by UCM which tells IRM what the sealing requirements are in UCM's world, rather than a rather cobbled together meeting of two separate worlds as was done in 10g. No idea when it will be ready of course...

  • Newbie Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g feature availability question

Newbie question here. I am new to Oracle 11g and new to this forum. I ran a search on this question and came up empty so hopefully there is a kind and knowlegable soul wo can help.
I recall in earlier versions of Oracle Enterprise Manager for earlier versions of Oracle there was something called Oracle Enteprise Manager Reporting accessible from the OEM web.
One of its key features was the ability to make custom "Additional Reports". In our current environment this is installed and works great. I don't know if it was an add on to OEM, or if it was built in. It was built a long time ago and I wasn't arround for that build. All I know is it works and it suits our needs.
Well we are now trying to build a new Oracle dev box to replace the current dev environment. We would prefer to not lose any existing functionality we have... and if possible not have to reinvent the wheel. The new box has Oracle 11g.
**Here comes the dumb newbie questions. **
Does Oracle 11g Enterprise Manager support 9i-style Enterprise Manager Reporting and Custom Reports?
Is it called that in 11g or has it been renamed to something else?
Is it it a simple matter of configuration or is it an add on that needs to be installed?
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Thanks,
Wayward Oracle Newbie looking for an Oracle Home

Oracle 11g does not support 9i-style custom reports. There is a new reporting framework - Information Publisher available in Grid Control 10+ versions. The new reporting framework does support custom reports as well. Click on the Reports tab to access the functionality.

  • IRM 11g - How to track copies of documents

    hi all,
i understand that IRM allows documents to be tracked. ie. it knows how many copies of the document there are and how many are currently open and being edited. I read this somewhere but not very sure where exactly.
    1) is this true? if true, how can i monitor from the irm server?
    2) i did download the userguide from the oracle website. wondering if there are other/better user guides out there so that i can go deeper into the administration of IRM.
    thanks,
    gear

    Hello Gear,
ad 1) it is not exactly true that you can track copies of sealed documents. What you can track is who tried to open (a copy of) a sealed document, provided that this user has installed and configured the correct IRM licensing server.
Let me explain the difference: if you seal a document (ie. you take a document, created its encrypted version and store its encryption key on a server) you create a doc id, which can be tracked. If someone attempts to open the document (or its copy), he or she needs to go the licensing server to get the decryption key. This can be tracked.
I'm simplifying a little bit - there is the offline mode, permissions are cached for the whole context, not for a single document, there are versions of documents, not just copies, but I believe you get the basic idea.
Of course, if you attempt to open a sealed doc on a PC with no IRM Desktop Client, or if the Desktop Client cannot reach the IRM Licensing server (either not configured, or not accessible), IRM Licensing server won't receive any info about it - the exception is tracking in the offline mode (ie. info will be sent once the Licensing server becomes accessible)
ad 2) I'd suggest just go for it - open the admin console and play with the configuration. 80% of settings are self-explanatory and they will help you to understand the remainder. And if not, there's always a chance to ask about a particular feature.

  • Error in Oracle IRM 11g - Offline access

    Hello.
I am working with the last version of Oracle IRM Server, 11g. I'm having a problem with the Offline access element. I modified role Contributor in a way that is not allowed to work offline. To do that, I unchecked the box "Allow working offline"
After that, I logged in IRM Desktop in order to create a new sealed document. However, when I tried to refresh the contexts in which the user have rights to seal, the list was empty.
It might be a bug? Or there is something that I have to do when I don't want a user to work offline?
    Thank you.

    Hi
this is expected behaviour, online licenses do not synchronize so they are not available for sealing. I guess we haven't made that clear in the documentation.
I would be keen to hear what you are doing with 11g as an early adopter; so please feel free to email me at [email protected] I may be able to give you some pointers.

  • UCM 11g with IRM 11g

    hello ,
i need to know if i can configure ucm 11g with IRM server 11g ??
in 10g we have two components "**IRMIntegration IDC and IRMIntegration IBR** "
i dnt know if i need same components to do the same integration in 11g version ..

As I mentioned earlier, you would need to modify the Hot Folders application to do what you wanted. For example, I know of a customer who has had it modified so that the original creation date and author of the sealed file is unchanged from the original file. So this kind of modification is possible. You would also have to do extra modification to have UCM manage the document first (for example indexing the original and potentially creating extra renditions).
If you seal the documents individually and store them in UCM, you will not be able to full-text index them because a sealed file is a black box to UCM. Your indexing would be limited to user-supplied metadata fields only therefore (DATABASE.METADATA in UCM terms). There might be another method whereby you use something like the ZipRendition component to store the unsealed version of the file for full indexing, but I don't know enough about UCM to go into this deeply without doing some research.

    Frank.

The issue was resolved by following steps (by performing a fresh install):
    1.     Open cmd with administrative privileges (Run as administrator) & Install wls1035_generic.jar
    2.     Execute setup.exe of SOA with administrative privileges (Run as administrator)
    3.     Apply the PS4FP
The issue was because I was installing Jdev in the same Oracle home “C:\Oracle\Middleware” after step 2 before applying the PS4FP. This corrupted the oracle_common inventory
A quick way to verify whether your inventory is corrupted is to check the following files:
    •     C:\Oracle\Middleware\oracle_common\inventory\ContentsXML\comps.xml (should be more than approx 2500 lines before patching)
    •     C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_SOA1\inventory\ContentsXML\comps.xml (should be more than approx 1600 lines before patching)

  • IRM 11g and AD credentials

    Hi,
I have configured an AD Authentication Provider in WebLogic in order to AD users can use IRM. But I'd like to know if the AD User's credentials are stored in Weblogic or the Users have to authenticate to AD when they use Oracle IRM.
If it is the first case, how are these credentials stored? And where? I'm a little concerned about security. I searched in WebLogic documentation, but I didn't see this clear.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
From an IRM perspective, the only information stored is a user's GUID. When you use the Management Console interface and find a user record, the console goes to the user provider defined in WebLogic and pulls the information directly from the provider. This allows us to store as little as possible (essentially the minimum that will give us access to the user) while not transferring potentially huge amounts of data from your user store when searching lots of users.
By default WebLogic does cache some user information and so does not necessarily always go to the user store to retrieve the information. It caches just what it needs and for short periods of time. This is configurable on a per-proivider basis and may be switched off if you wish but this may impact server performance. My understanding is that it does this because Web applications have a tendency to re-ask several times in quick succession for the same user information depending on the nature of the application. To find the cache information:
Login to WebLogic as the WebLogic administrator
    Go into Security Realms
    Click on your specific realm.
    Click on the Providers tab.
    Select your AD provider.
Switch to the Provider Specific tab.
    Scroll down to the bottom.
You will find a checkbox to switch off caching completely, cache size and time to live. Each item has a 'More Info' section on the right that explains more about it.
    Hope this helps.
    Frank.

  • IRM 11g and multimedia files

    Hi,
Can you seal any type of audio file with Oracle IRM? I saw in Oracle Support that in previous versions MP3 format was supported. I right-clicked a .mp3 file and I didn't see the "Seal to..." option.
In User's Guide I see that .mov, .mpg and .mp4 are the video formats supported. Is there any other?
    Thanks

    Hello,
MP3 was deprecated from the product in 2007. It is not supported or available in Oracle IRM.
The user guide correctlly shows which formats are available in IRM. Please note there seems to be a limitation where MP4 files greater than 150MB or so cannot be played properly. We have no plan to address the limitation at this time. We are interested in understanding your use-case. If you would rather not expand on that on a public forum, would you be so kind as to open an SR (you can do this only if you're a customer)?
