Is a Macbook Air more durable than a Macbook Pro (with flash storage) for extensive travelling?

Since neither Air nor Pro shoud be abused or used as a hockey puck,......the question is ALMOST moot.
However the AIr is to be certain more durable than the Pro is due to:
1. fewer parts (much)
2. lower mass inertia at impact
3. less chassis flex due to depth and form.
4. LCD on Air is less fragile than the retina display on the Pro is
5. Air is much easier to repair in case of a spill (however this is almost another moot point)
For much traveling and "abuse", the Air is the winner to be certain, however its still moot if you have a good padded case and prevent other ignorant people in your travels from manhandling your Air or Pro
BOTH current Air and Pro use SSD flash storage.
BOTH only have 1 moving part, the fan.

The way I have it figured, a black shelled book is $155.00 more expensive than a comparably custom configured white book when ordered online. I like the black better, but maybe not 150+ dollars better. Any tangible advantage to getting a black model?

I opted for the white first cause it is some kind of Apple's flag and i love to stand from the crowd of dark PCs while at business meetings
Second, I noticed that the Black has troubles with fingerprints and skin oils while the white is not affected.
Last but not least, 150 bucks saved means more RAM or Hard Disk...
I suffered some weeks ago of the discoloration issue, but being in the return-period yet I sent the Mac Book back to Mother Apple and since last week got a new one that so far is perfect... lets cross fingers.
The Black major price is basically a marketing move that seems to pay off for Apple, since I am sure they do not have to pay 150 dollars more to produce any single black unit.

I thought I heard it's made of new material that makes it more break resistant than previous models. If someone almost never drops their iPad is a case worth it? Will the screen shatter upon impact? My old one did.

The screens are made of glass. They can break. "Almost never" means sometimes. Get a case.

I'm guessing "ash" is the silver colored keyboard, the same color as the rest of the MBP? If so, that machine, with the optical drive slot on the front, is the older machine.

Why is the black iPhone 4/4S more durable than the white?

I've owned both a black and a white 4S
The black was much more durable, mine flew out my hand and hit the tap, no damage just a big scratch to the back glass because thats where it hit, but it did make the back loose
I had a white, and it smashed the back like 2 inches off concrete, I'm serious.. That's how fragile they are...

1) bring it to a 3rd party repair shop and see what they say
2) pay $149 for another replacement
3) do nothing
4) buy a new phone (iPhone or otherwise)

There has never been a reliable firewire ---> USB adapter suitable for external high speed storage. This was a major issue when the MacBooks lost the firewire port a number of years ago (Apple subsequently brought it back).
The only high speed port on the Air is the ThunderBolt port. There are external ThunderBolt drive options out there, but they're somewhat more expensive than traditional USB/FireWire options.

You can direct connect your MBA to the LaCie via USB 2 cable. If you have an Apple Airport Router you can USB connect the LaCie drive to the router and then use Airport Utility to configure it. Time Machine can access it either way.

What version MacBook Air do you have? Usually identified by the year you bought it, i.e. mid-year 2012, 2011, etc. Also, what OSX are you running? (please provide OSX ver number, i.e. 10.8.2 for latest Mountain Lion, etc.)
