Is anyone successfully using Mobile Field service - laptop version in 12.2.X ?

We need this type of functionality but we are on 12.0.6. We are considering upgrading but we were going to upgrade later this year. However, we need this type of functionality as soon as possible. Is anyone using Mobile Field Service in 12.2.X with laptops?

I am using an O2 XDA II with Pocket PC 4.2. I am using IAS 9.0.4.0.0.
I have defined a service in my midtier which outputs XML with a signature box:
<SimpleFormItem name="p_signature" type="signature"> etc
My PDA displays the signature box correctly in the web browser.
When I sign the box and press Submit the following data items are returned to the midtier:
Query String: "sigSubmit=mySubmit&sig_width=200&sig_height=100&sig=&personName=tim"
Notice that the sig data is null.
I know that my IAS version is a little low, but, the problem appears to be that the plug-in in the browser is not returning any sig data.
Do I have an old version of the plug-in?
Have you used this plug-in?
Has it worked for you?
Do you know where I can get a newer version of this plug-in as it must work with Oracle Apps?

Has anyone successfully modified the pages on the local client for Mobile Field Service / Laptop. We are wanting to hide some functions from the field service rep (I.e. Create SR) and change some default values in drop down lists.
We can make the changes to the .jsp pretty easily, but are unable to "push" the changes to the client.

Error when installing Oracle Lite for Mobile Field Service Laptop

Hi,
I am facing a strange problem when installing Mobile Field Service Laptop agent "Oracle Lite" on my laptop.
When I run the setup, it asks me username and password, after entering the information, when I proceed, I see setup window which displays below messages
"Authenticating with server... "
Please wait. This may take several minutes ...
Then it hangs for several minutes, approx 5 to 10 mins, and then gives message
"Could not connect to server: HTTP/1.0 502 Bad Gateway"
I am not able to proceed with setup.
But none of my other colleagues are facing this issue, even though the network, proxy settings and java version are same.
Any idea about this error?

Mobile Field Service Laptop setup login

I have Oracle Lite 10.3.0.2.0 and Oracle Business 12.1.1
I used for implementation note 846572.1 from support.oracle.com
Problem is:
When I try to install the laptop client application I received the error "Invalid the user name/password: my.user".
I checked file webtogo.ora for section "External Authentication" to have CLASS=oracle.apps.asg.setup.AsgAuthenticator and EXPIRATION=0.
Somebody can help?

Path to Java_home it was wrong.
I enabled trace and I see in log the messege "Missing class: oracle.apps.asg.setup.AsgAuthenticator".
I check my java_home which was to jdk folder not to java classes of application. I change and it works.

Personalizing/customizing Mobile Field Service in R12

Hello,
We are trying to add some fields and also restrict choices in some dropdown lists in MFS. Right now I am clueless on how to proceed as this is my first time working with MFS. I have seen the personalization using Mobile Field Service Developer responsibility, but it is not like regular OAF personalization where I could add a field if it is available in the underlying VO. Has anybody done any personalizations in MFS? Some examples would really help, even if they may not be related.

Is there anyone using the mobile field service module (Laptop version)???
Does it work ?
If so, what kind of communication do you use ? (gsm-data / gprs / ??)
There is no sign of a single customer that uses it !!???!!

i've seen several reactions: at the end it depends if the FSE were using another application previously or not and what was the level of that application.
Usually MFS provides all that is needed for a FSE to look at. Of course that i've seen cases where the pocket pc version was chosen instead of the laptop simply because the FSE didn't want to carry a laptop and it looks quite fancy to use a PDA!
Personally, i think that it depends on the business and on the customer needs in terms of functionality and the amount of engineers that you will deploy to (costs).

Files for New Field Service Laptop

Server is Oracle Database Lite 10g R3 (10.3.0.2) for Linux and arhitecture is: Oracle Application is install on machine 1, Oracle Database on machine 2, Oracle Lite Database and Mobile Server are install on machine 2.
I want to install to Mobile Server application "new field service technician". I found the CSML.zip on Oracle Application (Machine 1) in folder csm/html/download.
I run java command to run installation manager

In this point, I can see a new application in Mobile Server Administration webpage on Mobile Server.
I acces my server http://myserver:port/webtogo, I'm loggin with administrator user, I acces "mobile manager", In new page oppened, I access my server, then applications link and "new field service laptop" application. Here can see "properties", "access", "data subsetting", "files" and "add war file".
In "Files", I don't have any files.
How can populate with files this application?

The version of mobile server embedded in MFS is 10.3. This first came out 7 or so years ago, well before Windows 7. Mobile Server 10.3/10.2 is not supported on Windows 7.

This might be a wrong place to post ;) but anyways. My question is can we use Oracle EM as a Monitoring Solution? If so has anyone successfully used it?
I have used Oracle EM over the years for mostly managing Databases. Eventually with the Middleware Support I have tried to use it to monitor Middleware Servers, earlier OC4J and recently WebLogic Servers. I however find that most people when talk about EM they think of it as a Business Transaction Monitoring Solution. (Lets keep BTM out for a while I know about that plugin but it is another full set of questions)
Mostly I get questions as to can we "drill down the transactions" and see who initiated it and "what is being processed at this moment". Here transaction means Business Transaction as opposed "this thread is executing this particular piece of code". People want to know this piece of code is being executed "for Purchase Order XYZ" as opposed to just knowing that purchase order is being processed. If you know what i mean.
No doubt OEM is great tool for an Admin but does it really sell itself as a monitoring solution? I have not seen a successful implementation so far with OEM being a central monitoring solution. If anyone has any experiences to share it would be great.

I tried to look at that option. It is available only for the Database. I was looking something more towards say the web Services hosted or the Web Applications hosted on Weblogic instances. Can we find say the Web Service call which had the Purchase Order XYZ in its request, etc.

Subinventory LOV not getting populated in Mobile Field Service Pocket PC

After installing Mobile Field Service Pocket PC on a Windows Emulator, and connecting to Oracle Database Lite webtogo, while trying to create a parts requirement the subinventory LOV is empty. The other fields like item and address are getting populated.Because the Subinventory cannot be selected , the order cannot be created.

Has anyone successfully used a "WD My Book for Mac" via NAS (plugged into USB port on router) as a Time Machine back-up drive? Apple support tech tried to tell me it wasn't possible and that the only NAS Time Machine could back up to is the Time Capsule, but I'm not buying it. I know it's doable, but I'm having a hard time figuring out which External HDDs will work and which ones won't. If not My Book for Mac, is there an External HDD that will work? (Running OS X 10.9.1 - Mavericks, btw...)

Given the nature of backups, my recommendation has always been to use a strategy that is unequivocally supported by Apple. As you already determined Apple Support unequivocally informed you that your proposal will not work, unless your router is an Apple AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule.
The exhaustive list of devices supported by Time Machine amounts to the following:
AirPort Time Capsule's built-in hard disk (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to a Time Capsule (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to an AirPort Extreme (current model only)
A hard disk drive directly connected to your Mac
That is all.
Use whatever backup device you want, but you should be aware that this site is full of reports of misery from hapless individuals who had been using NAS devices for Time Machine backups, only to find that they were incomplete, corrupted, or useless when they were required. Apple won't care if you lose your data while using a Time Machine configuration specifically excluded from their technical support documents.

You must install and configure Oracle10g Lite Release 2 (10.2.0.1) followed by additional patch sets mentioned below before implementing Oracle Mobile Application Foundation. Oracle10g Lite is not included in the R12 Oracle Applications Rapid Install,
so you must install Oracle10g Lite before proceeding to the Oracle Mobile Application Foundation implementation steps.
It seems yes you must install. By the way Before start process I suggest first review below notes, coz that pdf seems old.

A plea to those successfully using Comcast 8Mbs service

I just had a Comcast installer tell me that "their modems don't work with Airport". I've seen quite a few postings here and elsewhere that leads me to believe they're just feeding me a line.
To those of you successfully using Comcast 8Mbs service, could you let me know what model Comcast "cable-modem" you have and what Airport settings were needed to make it work? That way, I can walk the installer through his job.

The router didnt actually work for me the 1st time I access the user interface . Patience is a virtue .. and it worked .. I had problems creating the cisco connect cloud account . After creating an account I encountered problems on my other wireless devices , called tech support . They were able to assist me well with my concern even though I was a lil bit irate already but they were able to manage the issue well .
I was a bit disappointed when it ask me to create an account. They were able to explain it to me how it works and what benefits can I get from it .

Has anyone successfully used the ZTE Open C with an AT&T microcell?

I have a ZTE Open C and have had no issues with initial setup w/AT&T. However, like most newer phones the voice signal reception is very weak.
I've had an AT&T Microcell before, but I don't have one now. For those that are unaware, the microcell allows 3G phones to connect via a 3G signal, but the call is routed through a home broadband internet connection.
Has anyone successfully used a ZTE Open C w/Firefox OS AND used an AT&T microcell? If yes, did you need to do anything special on the phone or with Firefox OS.

I don't use a ZTE Open C, however, I do have a ZTE Open (Original) on AT&T and so I'll see if I can help ;D
I know someone who has a Microcell, and I have used it myself a few times. However, the microcell only works if you have entered in your phone number into settings of the Microcell.
Check the Microcell settings.
Check the data connection settings on your FxOS device
Make sure your Microcell is properly connected to WiFi
and check the AT&T support page for more info
For a while, it actually hasn't actually worked for me. I apologize if this doesn't solve your problem :D

Although I gave up investment tracking for personal reasons (I had used Quicken Deluxe 2002 for many years for that reason), my understanding is that the new Quicken 2007 for Lion/Mt. Lion is completely the same feature wise as Quicken 2007 for PPC. It will run on Snow Leopard, too.
For $15, why not download it and just try it and LET US KNOW!
