Is it possible to define when a splash screen displays?

I'm creating an elearning phone app. I'd like a splash screen to display until the user clicks Dismiss - and then never show it again when they open the app again.
Any ideas how to do this?
Thanks,

Yes, you can do that using Exit Hook method wdDoExit
We have used following hook to unlock the locked record of database table, which was open in edit mode.
//@@begin javadoc:wdDoExit()
  /** Hook method called to clean up controller. */
  //@@end
  public void wdDoExit()
    //@@begin wdDoExit()
     wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("exit called");
    //@@end

  • How to enter bios Setup (not the F1 stuff, the splash screen display settings)

    So I some how got into a seperate bios setting program by pressing ctrl S when some other bios utility was loading and changed the splash screen display (how long it shows the press enter stuff)
    but now I have no idea how to get back into that configruator.
    the Manual doesn't mention it, so question, how do I bloody do it?

    Hello
    Every time when you switch the notebook ON you can see at the bottom left hand site the short instruction how to enter BIOS settings. In your case you must use F2 button. Please keep it down immediately after switching the notebook ON.
    Generally the Toshiba notebooks are delivered with two different BIOS versions (BIOS producer):
    - TOSHIBA BIOS: enter using ESC and F1 button
    - Phoenix BIOS: enter using F2 button.
    According the specification your unit has Phoenix BIOS.

    Downloaded photoshop elements 12, installed ok and activated, started it and splash screen displayed and app launched then shutdown immediately.
    Repeat and crashes again. Help it won't start!

    Solved! Tried everything in the support documents and none of it worked. Massive frustration with Adobe Chat staff who know nothing and just kept telling me to look at the support documents over and over. They also gave me a contact number in Australia that has a recorde d message saying the product is not supported! What is that about?
    Finally Anand from Adobe tech support called me (from when I reopened the original support case that gave me the serial number).
    Just had to rename folder SLCache in c:\program files(x86) and reaccept the EULA and reactive. Now everything works fine. Way to hard.

  • BLACK SCREEN startup with 3 beeps, FREEZES when unplugged, Splash screen freeze, HEAT-UP TO BOOT

    BLACK SCREEN startup with 3 beeps, FREEZES when power unplugged, IF IT BOOTS splash screen freezes, OVERHEATING REQUIRED TO BOOT - 0x7B, Event 41 kernel-powe
    Issue: One day I unplug the power, the screen freezes and I get frozen music sound. I shut down, start up, I get 3 beeps (1 short 2 long), which indicates a Video failure according to the Thinkpad Laptop beep code list.
    How I solve the issue day-to-day: I turn the heat up - I disconnect the battery and hard drive and plug in the power then turn it on. I will wait until the underneath is searing hot with a blanket blocking the fan's flow of air, I mean way hot because any cooler and it won't start. Plug stuff back in, Hard drive first, Battery second, turn off with power button hold, unplug power, replug power.
    I turn it on, no beeps, it goes past the first Lenovo screen, then gives me a prompt because it "didn't shut down properly" and continue regular startup. What happens next is the Windows logo appears, and just as the animated windows logo starts to move (you see 2 small colored dots on the screen), it freezes. I see this every time, I know naturally that it means that the laptop is still too hot to go past that point, so I shut it down and try again. After about 5 - 10 tries it will go past the splash screen and into the login area, then it's all fine.
    Sometimes when I unplug the power from the back by accident it will freeze. By accident I mean that the connector wiggles it's self out easily. This unplug freezing thing started happening about 1 week before the 3 beep black screen problem started rolling, so I'm putting 2 together.

    I got a Blue Screen of Death the first time I started it up with the overheating ritual, but I never got it since. It was 0X7B. I ended up changing a setting in BIOS from AHCI to Compatibility Mode, and I passed everything without the BSOD again. I have always had it on AHCI.
    I got another Blue Screen of Death about a week ago, but came as it was on already and I had been using it, and said something about disabling Cache or Shadowing in BIOS. I never got it since.
    BIOS:
    Also, the time was set to 1988 or something in the BIOS.
    Event Viewer events found:
    1. Kernel-Power, Summary page.
    There are critical events for a few things like Kernel-Power, Event ID 41, Task Category (63). There are 19 of them, each day 1 or 2 of them but mostly 1, so this maybe corresponds to my daily ritual.
    "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
    2. Kernel-Processor-Power - Event ID 37, task category (7)

    I came across a very sluggish performing control panel for Nvidia before and after this problem, and I tried installing a newer version, which I had to jump through a few hoops to do, like uninstalling first, not just updating. At first it said that the driver wasnt made for the system, or that it wasnt compatible or something, which was wrong. I made it work somehow, but it was still sluggish after install. I rolled it back to an earlier driver, and now it works fine oddly. No sluggish performance / slight freeze window thing going on. No problem at all.
         MSCONFIG.exe, Boot Advanced Options: I have tried twice to change this 1 setting, check box "Number of processors" and change to 2 processors, because I do have 2 processors. I have been able to change this in the past, but it does not save the setting now, and I believe this option was selected before I started having problems, and settings did not disappear then.
    What could this be. The small round BIOS battery? The video card like everyone presumes? (I.E. the entire motherboard replacement), Software? The wiggly power input area? (Not enough power getting in?), Firmware of some sort? The BIOS software being wrong?

    *61 series nVidia-based ThinkPads from late January through July of 2008 are a 50/50 shot, since the old chips were mixed with the new ones. Any machine built in August and later can be deemed "safe".

  • Splash screen displayed white

    Hi,
    I've created a splash screen for a Swing program copied from the JavaWorld tutorial
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip104.html
    My problem is that the splash screen gets displayed as a white rectangle before my program starts up. If I show the splash screen from a menu item after the program has started up it displays perfectly.
    I've seen from a previous posting in this forum:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=57&thread=124267
    that this is because my splash screen is being starved of paint messages because of threading. Unfortunately the thread does not say how to get around this. Does anyone know the solution or even pointers to the solution?

    I got the tutorial to work by cutting and pasting SplashWindow3 from the tutorial, adding the following code
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    public class Splash{
         public static void main(String [] args){
              Frame f = new Frame("a frame");
              SplashWindow3 swindow = new SplashWindow3("myimage.jpg", f, 5000);
    saving it to Splash.java,
    compiling and running.
    Perhaps it is not finding your image?
    Perhaps you could show us the code?

  • PC Stopped at Platinum Splash Screen

    My K8N Neo2 Platinum system stopped responding while reinstalling Win2K.  I had finished installing Win2K from the CD and installed the drivers from the MSI CD.  I connected to the Internet and had run Windows Update twice.  Upon rebooting it stopped with the Platinum splash screen displayed.  It doesn’t respond to the keyboard or mouse, only to the reset or power keys.  I turned the system off and waited several minutes before turning it on, but it stopped in the same place.  I don’t know what to suspect since system had been running OK for several weeks.
    Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

    Glad it worked . Some older cd/cdrw drives are slow to initialize (don't know about yours) compared to hd's .
    And it also seems this motherboard sometimes have problems with two atapi devices on the same ide port , perhaps cause by to short ide init wait time in the bios , and it hangs when a drive is not initialized fast enough.So a workaround
    seems to be to spread them on seperate ports .

    I have been using APE 11 for over a year now with no difficulties.  Yesterday I installed a new Logitech kb/mouse and trackball and APE quit working.  It will start the splash screen then completely stops with no error message.
    I watched task manager/processes and can see the APE process start and then it goes away as soon the splash screen disappears.
    I uninstalled the Logitech drivers, rebooted and no change.
    Next I deactivated and deleted APE and scanned with PCMatic, Malware, REGPRO, and Hit Man Pro. All are run from the local drive.  No problems out of the ordinary were found.
    I rebooted the computer then downloaded a fresh copy of APE 11 from the Adobe website.
    Installation was done with virus checker and firewall turned off.
    I am still having the same problem.
    Photo Elements and Lightroom both are working fine.
    Anybody have a suggestion.  I have two client videos that I need to produce and more coming so I cannot afford to get behind.
    Thanks

    Let us cut to the standby deleting the Premiere Elements 11 Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole 11.0 Folder in which it exists.
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11.0
    and in the 11.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 11.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path cited.
    When the splash screen (Welcome Screen) appears, do you see a progress bar with the features being loaded or nothing? If you do see this activities, on which feature does the loading activity stop?
    We will be watching for your progress.
    Thank you.

    Add On...have you looked at the issue with and without the antivirus and firewalls disabled? I know that you had them disabled during installation. A ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) may be indicated.

  • Displaying a Splash Screen

    Hi:
    I have an application which takes sometime to load and decided to display a splash screen. The splash screen is a simple JFrame with a JPanel within. The splash screen is displaying but its not being painted at all. A grey box with the splash screen size is displayed.
    Following is the code from where Im calling both the splash screen and the application.
        private static void startApplication() {
            SplashScreen splashScreen = new SplashScreen();

            try {
                Application application = new Application();
                splashScreen.setCompleted(0.2);
                System.out.println("Loading Database...");
                application.initDatabase();
                System.out.println("Loading of Database Complete...");
                splashScreen.setCompleted(0.5);
                application.initActions();
                splashScreen.setCompleted(0.6);

                splashScreen.setCompleted(0.7);
                application.initMenuBar();
                splashScreen.setCompleted(0.8);
                application.initComponents();
                splashScreen.setCompleted(0.9);
                application.setDefaultCloseOperation(Application.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE);
                application.setTitle("Password Keeper");
                application.setUndecorated(false);
                application.pack();

                application.setVisible(true);
            }catch(ClassNotFoundException e) {
                System.err.println("Failed to load the required classes.");
                JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(splashScreen, "Failed to load the required classes.", "Loading Application", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
            }catch(SQLException e){
                System.err.println("Failed to load the required classes.");
                JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(splashScreen, "An error occured while connecting with the database.", "Loading Application", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
            System.out.println("Application Started...");
            splashScreen.setVisible(false);
            splashScreen.dispose();
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    startApplication();
        }The problem started to show up when the application was included. This works fine when the splash screen is displayed by itself.

    A grey box with the splash screen size is displayed.would indicate you have your "application which takes sometime to load" in the
    EDT, which will prevent painting until loading finishes
    use a separate thread to load the data

    When I open NI Multisim and click on Help-->About, the splash screen displays the following information in the upper left hand corner of the splash screen:
    test
    Benjamin Franklin Institute
    Serial#
    How/where do I change the word "test" so that it doesn't appear on all the classroom PCs?  Where is the source of the identifying information that appers on the splash screen?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    In this case “test” is making reference to the Register Owner. This information is requested during the installation process. You will be able to modify this information by modifying a key in the Windows Registry.  Please refer to the link below for more information.

  • Drop Shadow for Windows Splash Screen

    Hi,
    I need to create a splash screen for a client who is a Windows software developer.
    I'm working on a Mac with Photoshop CS3.
    It's simple enough given that I just have to create a 320x240 image and send it over to them.
    However what I'd like to do is add a drop shadow to the graphic which shows up with transparency when the splash screen appears on the Windows desktop.
    Any clues?
    Thanks.

    With what technology is the developer working? . . . Pass.
    What file formats can they accept? . . . I'll give PNG24 a go on a dummy graphic and ask them to try it.
    Thanks.
    Bob.

  • FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT defining blocks on selection-screen.

    Hi,
    is it possible to define blocks on selection-screen if I use the function FREE_SELECTIONS_INIT.
    And is it possible to define the select-option obligatory.
    Best regards,
    Marcus

    hi
      Yes you can make select-options as obligatory by using
    SELECT-OPTIONS:
       s_abs for <some thing> OBLIGATORY
    and coming to the FM
    the function module receives information about
    the set of fields for which dynamic selections should be possible, and
    returns a selction ID
    i Think it is not possible

    Your DisplayContainer constructor calls showSplashPanelAndExit()
    which will cause the application to end because of System.exit(0). Is
    this what you intend?
    (When you post code use the "code" tags described here:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting Type [code] at
    the start of your code and  at the end. That way the code will
    be formatted and readable.)
