Is it possible to retrieve old conversations?

for blackberry messenger, if you end a conversation, is it possible for someone to call or go online and view what the conversations were about? i know you can do it for regular text messages, but is it the same for blackberry messenger?
thanks

So, to expand on the original question, old blackberry messenger messages cannot be retrieved at all?  I ask because I'm possibly going to be going through a divorce and wanted to know If I could have my wife's message subpoened for court.
Hi and Welcome to the forums!
See JSanders reply above...it is accurate. BBM is peer-to-peer...there is no server involved in the message stream, from which a record could have been kept and subsequently retrieved. As such, if it is gone from your BB, then it is gone.

  • Is it possible to retrieve old backups that were made before itunes 9.2 ?

    Hi all,
There were previous backups on my PC that were made from my iphone 3gs.
When it upgraded the itunes software to 9.2 and IOS4, it seemed to remove all of the older backups ???? i presume this is to stop going back to older firmware etc ?
Problem is though that since the IOS4 upgrade i have lost all of my contacts (didnt use mobileme or gmail or outlook etc) and the only way to get them back is to extract my contacts from a backup done previous to the IOS4 upgrade.(which have all been removed from the list of available backups)
Question is - are the old backups from itunes still stored somewhere on my PC ? i have a program that can extract my old contacts from a good backup file if i can find one...
Useless upgrade IMO that should be removed immediately until a fix is done as lots of people are still losing their contacts as we speak......

iTunes only ever kept one back up at a time. Every sync it gets replaced unless you back the backup files off yourself.

  • How Can I retrieve old podcasts I deleted by error?

    Hello,
I uses the last version 7.2.2 on MacOS.
I deleted a few podcasts from an album I subscribed to.
I know that the podcasts I deleted are still available on the publisher's site.
Until version 7.1.... It was possible to retrieve old podcasts again by using the command "retrieve old podcasts" (or something like this) (just below "refresh album in the contextual menu). But it seems that this useful command has been removed.
Is there any way to do it anyway?
Many thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know if I'm on the same page as you.
But if you backed up the phone with those contacts pictures notes etc, you should get them back.
After restoring your phone, use the back up that done when you had those contacts messages etc??

  • Messages not displaying content of old conversations

Earlier today the Messages app hung and I had to force quit it. Now, none of my old conversations are displaying. I have searched around and followed Lincs and Ralph Johns' suggestions in this thread, but nothing has fixed the problem.
    To recap my attempts:
    1. Trying in a new user account replicated the problem
    2. Trying in Safe Mode replicated the problem.
    3. All the database files under ~/Library/Messages show Read/Write permissions for my user account.
    4. I have also repaired permissions from Disk Utility.
    5. I even tried to follow the steps in this thread, but either I didn't understand what I was supposed to do or it it's pertinent to this issue since it didn't yield the same results in the steps 2, 6 and 9.
I would really appreciate your help with this issue.

    Hi,
Messages can store different "messages" dependent somewhat on the type there are in two places.
Saved Chats  (See Preferences > General section an Save on Close)
    These are in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Messages/Archive.
This will save All type of Messages whether they are iMessages or other types (AIM, Jabber, Yahoo or Bonjour).
If they are iMessages they are stored Automatically in three .db items in ~/Library/Messages.
Both methods will add older chats to the top of the Chat window when you scroll up/back in time of the chat.
For me it has not done very well at retaining links to old chats prior to the Change to Yosemite (for me it start from this time).
    So...
Moving to a different Account is not likely to help in this case as you have no History there either in the Chat.db items or the Archive folder.
Same with Safe Mode.  However if you do it on your regular Mac User account and it does not help it points to some possibles.
    Re 3.
I take it you stopped here as you expected them to be iMessages ?
AS well as your account showing and having Read and  Write permissions did you use the little cogwheel icon and see if your Owned the file ?
Also did you display the Path Bar (Finder > View Menu > Show Path Bar) and check the Messages Folder's ownership and Read and Write permission ?
Right Click the icon for the Folder and then select Get Info.
    Re 4.
Repairing permissions does not touch anything in your Home Folder (Little House icon).
This is why you have to check manually.
    Re 5
Running  /Applications/Messages.app/Contents/MacOS/Messages -errorLogLevel 7 in Terminal Starts up the App and creates a log whilst doing so.
It pauses once all of the Accounts are logged in at a point with some ComNAT info (open ports and the like).
It does repeat itself regarding BDW (Bandwidth) and the Mic and Camera that are in use and whether it can Audio Chat 1-9 people of Video 1-3 and so on.  At the very top it lists the picture size it will be using in Video chats.
Michael Singletary found if you ran the log method of opening the app you could see if the record count was wrong.
You may have an incomplete saved item in the /Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Messages/Archive depending if the app was trying to save an Chat as it hung.
    If you did not get:-
Confirm that an error similar to this appears: 2013-10-27 15:59:16.465 Messages[666:507] Chat history path /Users/username/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Messages/Archiv e Status: 3 totalExpected: 162740 countProcessed: 29344, forcing an import.
Or something very similar then you don't have that issue.
If you have not had that many new iMessages or other type of Messages since the issue I would use Time Machine to replace the Chat.db items to something only slightly earlier and the same for the Archive folder.
Navigate to one of the folders to start from (like the Archive folder for instance)
Use the Time Machine icon in the DOCK.
It will change to the galaxy background the current window for the folder with what looks like stacked windows behind it.
Move back in time  until it is indicated that the item is different.
Highlight the file/folder and then use the Restore Button.
Repeat for the other items in /Library/Messages.

The events of the last month, with the photographs have suddenly disappeared from the iPhoto Library.  I have opened these successfully several times during the last few weeks, but on opening them yesterday they weren't there any longer. No idea how this could have happened! Is it possible to retrieve ???

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • [SOLVED] is it possible to retrieve the data available in my sync account as i have forgotten some password which my browser is still remembering?

as i sign up with new websites with new user name and passwords, firefox offers me whether to remember the passwords or not.
i have selected 'remember password' for so many sites and got my data synchronized with firefox sync. i am having an account and a sync key.
but the problem is that i have forgotten some of the passwords which are still remembered in fire fox.
though i am not facing any problem opening those sites as my browser automatically completes the password for me, i am unable to change the password with a new one as i have forgotten the old!

  • Is it possible to retrieve a registration key for a hard copy of iWork 06? Moved and cannot locate disc, and replaced the computer it was originally installed on. When I transferred the program to new Macbook, the reg key apparently didn't transfer.

Is it possible to retrieve a registration key for a hard copy of iWork 06? Moved and cannot locate disc, and replaced the computer it was originally installed on. When I transferred the iWork from original Macbook Pro to new Macbook Pro, the reg key apparently didn't transfer. Any ideas?

Do you still have access to the old MacBook Pro? If so, you can transfer the license by copying the com.apple.iwork.plist from Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences to the same location on the new Mac. Note that this IS the main HD Library, not your user library. I have found that these files are not moved during setup or migration.
Are you really running Tiger 10.4.7? If so, you should update to 10.4.11. You can find the updater here. You also might consider buying the retail disk of iWork '09 from a third-party such as Amazon.com or eBay. It will add a lot of features for you. iWork '09 does require Tiger 10.4.11 at a minimum.

  • I returned a leased iMac Pro two weeks before I bought a new iMac desktop so haven't migrated my Firefox bookmarks. Is it possible to retrieve them?

Is it possible to retrieve my bookmarks from past Firefox usage without the old computer?
I don't remember my old username or password, but my email address is the same.

If you haven't used Sync and you don't have the computer (or at least the hard drive) any more, your best bet would have been to back up your bookmarks manually before swapping it out with a new iMac.
If you didn't copy over your profile folder, then it looks like the only way to get back your bookmarks would be to get the old computer back and retrieve your bookmarks. If you would've used Sync, your bookmarks would've been stored onto Mozilla's Sync server(s)

  • Retrieving old files

    Hey, folks -
I'm trying to see if I can find a way to reclaim my old files that I previously bought on iTunes. Some were songs, some were videos.
I know they're not on this computer, because this PC was recently given to me after my other computer crashed forever. ALL of my previous computers have crashed on me, including the ones that had iTunes files on them.
I did make some backup disks, but I still seem to be missing some songs. And I am definitely missing all of the videos that I once purchased.
I tried out an audiobook service earlier this year that actually allows you to re-download audio files if your computer crashes. Is there anything like that for iTunes? Because that would be the most ideal thing possible.
I did try the FAQ and I couldn't find anything about this. I did do a search of the forums under "retrieve old files" and I found one guy saying that he could SEE all his previous purchases with his Apple account, but he needed a way to download them. He didn't get an answer to his question. At this point, I would be happy even to SEE my previous purchases so I know for sure what's missing. Does anyone know how to do this?
I once asked a question of iTunes via e-mail once, and the iTunes representative was very helpful. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find that old e-mail, and iTunes seems to have switched to this "forum only" mode. So if anyone can help with any of my questions, it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Retrieving Old iTunes Data

    Hello,
Is it possible to retrieve data from an old version of iTunes, i.e. playlists, song ratings, my Purchased lists...?
Here's what happened: I had Windows Vista, with iTunes installed on an external drive. My main computer drive died and I had to replace it. But at that point I decided to upgrade to Windows 7. The old iTunes (external drive) would not work anymore and I installed a new version for Windows 7, 64 bits. But all my preferences and playlists were lost.
I still have the old iTunes directory with program and all and I'm wondering if there is a way to retrieve the missing stuff.
    Hope someone can help.

The itunes store does not keep a copy of your music for you. You buy ONE download. It is your responsibility to maintain a backup of your purchases and to move/copy the music wherever you would like it. It does not magically appear.

  • Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 running 10.8.4? Tried mini display to VGA cable

Is it possible to use old Apple Flat Panel Display (62 watt power adapter) with a MacBookPro 13" Mid-2012 laptop?  Would like to use larger screen when working at home.  I have a mini display port to VGA cable and have tried to hook up the old display but it seems not to work.  When I try to activate the screen on the old display-- a window comes up in the MacBookPro and asks me if I want to shut down the computer.  What little I have read it that the MacBookPro had Thunderbolt and the old display may not be compatible?  Any assistance would be appreciated.

    11.09.12 22:16:06,148 ClamXavSentry[286]: I will quarantine infected files
This doesn't have anything to do with your problem, but it will likely cause other issues with your e-mail.
Here's my standard recommendation concerting the use of A-V software to deal with potentially infected messages:
Never use ClamXav (or any other A-V software) to move (quarantine) or delete e-mail. It will corrupt the mailbox index which could cause loss of other e-mail and other issues with functions such as searching. It may also leave the original e-mail on your ISP's e-mail server and will be re-downloaded to your hard drive the next time you check for new mail.
So, if you choose to "Scan e-mail content for malware and phishing" in the General Preferences, make sure you do not elect to either Quarantine or Delete infected files.
When possibly infected e-mail files are found:
Right-click/Control-click on either the infection or file name in the ClamXav window.
Select "Reveal In Finder" from the pop-up menu.
When the window opens, double-click on the file to open the message in your e-mail client application.
Read the message and if you agree that it is junk/spam/phishing then use the e-mail client's delete button to delete it (this is especially important when the word "Heuristics" appears in the infection name).
If you disagree and choose to retain the message, return to ClamXav and choose "Exclude From Future Scans" from the pop-up menu.
If this is a g-mail account and those messages continue to show up after you have deleted them in the above manner, you may need to log in to webmail using your browser, go to the "All Mail" folder, find the message(s) and use the delete button there to permanently delete them from the server.
To fix the corrupted mailbox index(es), highlight each one that was corrupted and choose Rebuild from the appropriate menu.

  • Is it possible to retrieve the broken motherboard and get a replacement.

Hello everyone, I'm desperate for help now. I just had a look with this forum today and realised many people have been suffering the same sudden death issue of Z3C.I know the original post was too long so I edited it
I experienced the same issue in last December, at first it was the motherboard issue so they got it replaced but when they tried to set it up the screen was broken, so I have no idea how long I have to wait. I just want to say It had been a joy and wonderful experience to use the phone so there were actually a lot of important information and memorable things kept in the phone which I would die for, I even tried to request that would it be possible to have the damaged motherboard back or could they at least try to restore the datas back to the phone. If anyone has done similar thing before and managed to complain through email please let me know the email I will be very appreciate!
    Original:
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
I bought this phone in the end of last September and this is speaking from a proud loyal user of Sony products and I have owned wide range of products like Bravia television, home theater system, and Playstations, they have been a great pleasure to me. Before the release of Z3 Compact, I was desperately looking for a small sized phone with capability of good performance until I saw the advertising of Z3 Compact, so I had finally found a phone that best suited my every needs. I'd been enjoying every single feature of the phone but it was only 2 months since I bought it then the phone died suddenly when I woke up the next morning and I had an important meeting that day. Due to the problem of course I could not make it in the end. I had done everything I could but the phone could not be turned on at all, so there was entirely no way for me to back up everything before I sent it to repair. I could say it was very unfortunate for me because I have many friends who are still using high-end Xperia phones like Z2 and they are still running fine even until this day.
Finally I got a call few weeks ago so I thought I could finally get it after such a long wait. Instead I was told that it was the mainboard issue so a new one got replaced, but when they tried to set up the phone they noticed the screen was broken, so they had to deliver it again to the headquarter of repair centre in Kuala Lumpur. I have been waiting for nearly two months. Most importantly is that I have to study overseas next month so what should I do if the same problem happens again? Therefore I asked for a replacement and they said they would try for it and wait for approval from their manager but chances are very low.
For quite sometime I have been looking for the email of customer support but so far I could only manage to get the contact number, seriously Sony? Maybe it was my mistake but I just couldn't find the email contact except for regions like US and Europe since those regions are far more popular compared to where I am, a country that probably no one has ever heard of-Malaysia. I know it's no luck to seek for support from Sony Malaysia, so I was actually trying to look for international office for Asia region, but so far I could only find Australia and Hong Kong, therefore I gave it a try but it appeared to be an error link that led to nowhere.
Since I couldn't find the email at all I was given no choice but to call the customer support. I was really frustrated and unsatisfied with the solution they offered during the first call, saying that if the phone breaks again I can only bring it back from overseas to the repair centre in my home country just to get it fixed whenever I have the chance to go back.
I just want to say It had been a joy and wonderful experience to use the phone so there were actually a lot of important information and memorable things kept in the phone which I would die for, I even tried to request that would it be possible to have the damaged motherboard back or could they at least try to restore the datas back to the phone. Although I know I can't do anything with it but who knows maybe someday there is someone expert enough in IT can lend me a hand in such case. I know it's their policy to not return the damaged parts to customers but it's only my very little request even if they can't get me a replacement.
Since Sony is such a giant corporation, hasn't there been any solution they can offer since most users of Z3C are experiencing the same issue? Instead of raging my disappointments through internet which could spread false information and negatively affect the reputation, I hope this is the best way to solve my problems and let everyone knows.
I'm sorry if the post is too long but this is the best way to express my feeling. If anyone has similar experience or knows the email, please let me know and any help provided will be much appreciated.

Sorry to hear that, but this forum is for us, users, and what you need is someone from Xperia Care to find your motherboard and send it back, I don't think it'll be possible to retrieve any data from a broken motherboard.
