Is it safe to update iphone 4 to ios 5? I bought it from Apple Store UK but I live in Turkey. The phone is simfree. Is it possible that when I update it, it will be locked? If so how can I fix it?
People say that even the Iphone 4 is factory unlocked, when you update it to ios 5, it will be locked and there is no solution for that. I use ios 4.3.3 I hope you can help me. Thank you so much. Gizem.
If it is an officially unlocked iPhone, you can use any supported SIM.

Connect the iPod to its syncing computer and restore via iTunes. If iTunes asks for the passcode and you can't enter the passcode or yu do not have the syncing computer, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore. For recovery mode see:

Just called in Apple Care for the same issue. All you need to do is go to the itunes file scroll down to the bottom where you will see the cammand Transfer purchases from " insert your name"iphone. It will automaticly download your purcases to itunes and place it under Purchases,it will also place the movies and shows in the apropriate folders in itunes. In addition there will also be an additional folder under Store in itunes that will list the purchases under the device it was puchased under for example Purchased on Pinkiesipone

Just bought a new replacement phone at the apple store and as soon as I got home, vertical lines came up through the screen and now it's extremely blurry. All the functions of the phone still work fine and I really can't see anything except a small part of the screen at the top. I called the apple store and he told me to put the phone in recovery mode on my computer and the restore and update it. I did this and I can tell the phone has restored yet it is still extremely blurry and I can't see anything to type it in. Is there anything I could do with this? The apple store is over an hour away and saving another trip down there would be great. Thanks

Sorry, there's no way around Activation Lock. So, give the phone back to your "friend", as you will never be able to use it.

I got an iphone from apple store US and am located in egypt , the device has hardware issues and need swap as stated by apple stor belfast when i was in ireland but they cannot swap it in EU as it is purchased from US , please advice how i can get this swapped without any extra cost on me , this is really frustrating

If after ALL 4 steps your phone still doesn't work, you've no choice but to have your phone serviced by Apple. As you've found out, the iPhone warranty is NOT and has NEVER been international. You'll have to send your phone to someone in the country of purchase to bring your phone into Apple--and then to have that person send the phone back to you.
