HP Backup backs up many folders that are useless, most of your personal files should be in a folder with your old user name in the "Users" folder. This Backup app is also known to be a pain.
As for why you got the error, which sounds like all files were not extracted, that could be a faulty DVD, something caused a bad write to DVD,etc.
If you don't see a 'Users' folder, I would probably start by deleting the folder created on Desktop and make a new one either on desktop or in My Documents. Next copy files from each DVD to that new folder. From the folder try running the .EXE file again to see if any better results.
One other suggestion-go into Control Panel, Folder Options and check to be sure 'Hidden files' are shown.
If all else fails, install 7Zip and try it to extract the .WIM files.

  • HT4946 Photos included in the Back up

This is a bit confusing.  It says under Camera Roll that images saved are backed up, however, I have pictures that I moved to my iPhone from my PC which show up in the Saved Photos section but those aren't included in the back up and I can't restore them.

That's the way it works. Only photos/videos in the iPhone camera roll are backed up. Always been like this. Photos you sync to your phone should be part of your computer backup.

  • I have a replacement iPhone 5 and I can't get any of my ring tones back. They are not in the cloud or in the back up or in iTunes. Where do I go to re download them?

    You only get one download.
As always, it is your responsibility to back up your content.
Did you fail to transfer your purchases to your computer?

  • Need help with the "back up" on my iTunes/iPhone.

Okay. I need a little help. I'm trying to download the newest version on the software onto my iPhone 3GS. But it keeps telling me that the back up is corrupt/damaged. I've deleted the backup from iTunes & none are currently showing up. But when I try the download again, it says the same thing about the backup being corrupt. Short of completely rebooting the whole phone [not even sure this would work & fix the backup problem?], is there anything else I can do?
I obviously need this update on my phone & it's now starting to lag a bit. So any help would be very much appreciated.

When I connect my iPhone to a PC running Windows XP just to charge it, the scanner and camera wizard launches automatically prompting me what to do about importing the photos in the Camera Roll. I don't recall having to add my iPhone as a camera first. The scanner and camera wizard detected my iPhone as a camera automatically which it should do without having to do anything extra first - as long as there are photos in the Camera Roll.

  • Where is the back up folder in Itunes

I want to use synctoy to back up my Ipod but I don't know where the folder is located that has all the apps and stuff in it on my pc to back up
    can anyone tell me. thanks.

Go to the advanced tab in iTunes' preferences. The location of the iTunes media folder is specified.  You also want to backup the iPOd backup file.  That file is located here:
iTunes gives your backup a unique name for each device. To find the backup you just created, sort the window view by date and time created or last modified. iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You may have to have show hidden file turned on.

  • How do i get the backed up apps from itune from my old ipad to my new one !

Im in desperate need of some help here - i had an older Ipad 2that i synced up with my itunes and both my APPA & Music were synced up well in my last back-up.
Now i got an IPAD 3 and selcted the option to restore from previous back (which is my IPAD 2 data) and unfortuntaley just my pictures came through and none of the APPS or Music. While im not so worried about the music, its the APPS that i need to get synced to my new IPAD 3 and i have tried various combinations and nothing seems to work.
    Please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to sync the apps back from iTunes. Apps themselves are not part of the backup and niether is music. you have to sync with your iTunes library again.
Connect your iPad to your computer, launch iTunes and sync.

  • I just factory restored my iPod 5 touch and when I plug it into iTunes to restore the back up I made, iTunes becomes unresponsive and closes. But when I unplug the iPod, it starts working again. Using Windows 8 and iTunes is updated, please help.

I just factory restored my iPod 5 touch and when I plug it into iTunes to back it up, iTunes stops responding and closes. This only occurs when the iPod is plugged in, when it isn't, iTunes works fine. I am using Windows 8 and iTunes is updated (as of this posting). Any suggestions on getting around this? Thank you.

Also, when I put it through the Windows diagnostic, it lists an "incompatible program" WHILE my iPod is plugged in.

  • How can I shut off the back up feature in ITunes. I don't want or need it. Everytime I try to add a single song to my ipod it takes 3 hours to back up. Is there anyway to make Itunes more user friendly I guess is the basic question.

Ok I have to be honest. Apple products and I do not get along. I really don't understand why you get locked out of nearly every feature. Anyway I don't want my Ipod backed up. It eats up memory and I simply do not need it. All I want to do is add a song or two without having to wait 3 hours. I also don't want to waste the space on my computer for the backup files. Lil help? Any answers would be helpful such as why they do this etc...

Sorry but I know of no way of not backing up for a PC.

  • Can I receive the Back to School $100 itunes giftcard if I buy a Mac from BestBuy/Future Shop?

When you buy a new qualifying Mac with Apple education pricing from June 16, 2011, through September 20, 2011, you’ll get a free $100 Back to School Card to use on the Mac App Store, the App Store, the iTunes Store, and the iBookstore.
Do you have to purchase the mac from an Apple store? Will this deal still apply if you purchase it from a seller such as Best Buy, Futureshop, etc...
I'm asking this because Best Buy offers MS Word for Home & Student for free with a purchase of a mac as well until September 30, 2011
Any help would be great! Thanks in advance:)

The $100 iTunes gift card is a promo being run specifically by Apple, so no a third-party vendor will not have the same promo. Bust Buy does like to match deals, so as tjk suggests, you should contact them and see if they can offer anything to match Apple's promo.

  • When I try to install iTunes (10.5.3) on my laptop, I get the same message. It says "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified." Anyone know how to fix it?

I began this trouble shooting exercise by selecting Download Only through the Apple Update applet. Running the msi manually did not resolve the problem. In fact, it was more frustrating because the download package would disappear after running even though it failed, and I had to download it again. "Cleanup" I suppose. <frown>
I followed advice to remove the Apple Software Update program, reboot and re-run the msi. That did not resolve the failure.
I then followed advice to set permissions for Administrators on registry key HKLM\Software\Micorosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Com ponents
then reboot and run the update msi again. This also did not resolve the failure.
I downloaded the installer from the Apple download site as though it were a fresh install, and - voila! - it installed correctly and all content and settings were preserved. Hopefully that is all that is needed, not the steps above. Let me know! http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • When replying to a message with attached images, those images are included in the reply. I don't want that.

I received an email from a friend with two attached images with "Content-Disposition: inline". When I replied to the message to say "hey, cool," those messages were included in the quoted message and attached and sent with my reply. That really shouldn't be the default behavior, and even if someone thinks it should be, there has to be a way to turn it off, right?
Please tell me how to turn it off.
Google searches turn up posts by frustrated users going all the way back to 2008, and there seems to be no answer better than "manually delete the photos each time".

OK, so if a message contains images as part of signatures, it wouldn't necessarily be correct to delete them. So we're left with doing it on a case by case basis.
People who don't like graphic content use plain text; this would automatically dispose of inline graphics content (though not true attachments).

  • How to retrieve messages that haven't been backed up

Does anyone know how to retrieve messages that haven't been backed up

Even if you haven't backed up your iPhone manually, there is still possibility that your iPhone was automatically backed up with iTunes or iCloud. Every time you sync your iPhone with iTunes, iTunes will create a backup of your iPhone automatically. If you have enabled iCloud, every time your iPhone is connected to Wifi and a power source, and the screen is locked, iCloud will automatically back up your iPhone files. So try to restore your iPhone with iTunes or iCloud backups if you find backup files and you are sure that the lost messages are included, see the guide:

  • HT1766 Hi, I recently updated my IOS and backed up on itunes. In the process, I lost all my apps on my iphone. Any ideas on how to restore them? If I use the back up option, will I go back to my old IOS? Please help!

Hi, I recently updated my IOS and backed up on itunes. In the process I lost all my apps on my phone. If I use the back up option on itunes, will it restore my iphone to my old IOS? Please help!

If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

  • Wrong Message Content Included In Reply

I encountered a strange problem this morning. I replied to a message on my iPhone and it included the wrong content in the reply. The subject and everything else was fine. Just the content. Is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future?
i.e. I replied to a message like this:
    from: [email protected]
    Subject ABC
    ABC
At the same time, another of my messages was of the form:
    from: [email protected]
    Subject XYZ
    XYZ
The message that went out was:
    to: [email protected]
    Subject Re: ABC
    On <datetime> [email protected] wrote:
    | XYZ
The wrong message was included in the reply. I hope I'm clear in my description.
This is a little scary, what if XYZ was something I didn't want [email protected] to know.
I'm using an 8GB iPhone classic (i.e. not 3g) with the latest software, my mail account is gmail setup through imap (not the special gmail setup, since I don't want the from address to be my gmail account.)

I'm actually glad you posted this -- thank you OP. Recently, my replies and forwards STOPPED including the original message as well, 100% inexplicably. I right-clicked one message, chose Reply, and now the Reply and Forward buttons are functioning properly again. You never know when just asking a question will help another user out!
