Is my motherboard faulty again?

Hello everyone,
At first, I want to excuse my bad English, and I hope someone help me.
Here I put the my PC specs:
Motherboard: MSI P43 Neo (MS-7519 ver. 1.0)
CPU: Intel E8400
GPU: Nvidia 9800GT XFX with 512 MB DDR3 RAM (order code PV-T98G-YDQ4)
RAM: OCZ DDR2-800 PC2-6400 PLATINUM XTC2 x 2
PSU: LC Power LC6600 Silent 600W
Case: Cooler Master CM690
I'm having some problems booting the PC if I have any USB device connected. In the first moments I had the motherboard, it was working great, instead of some times when I won't get the system response after the bootloader, and sometimes it also restarted itself.
After about 3 months, the problems have multiplied and the computer were booting only at some times, and then I was getting a BSOD (in Windows Vista) each about 4-6 hours. The windows error signal system told me to update the BIOS because there were problems communicating by RAM and CPU. So I updated the bios, and the system won't boot up (also the POST wasn't showed) for multiple times, each time I resetted the CMOS. After some times the system is started. The system also sometimes wasn't showing the POST.
So I contacted the seller, and I started an RMA process. After 9 days they tested the product, it resulted damaged, and they directly substitute it with a new one motherboard.
But now I am with the same problem: the system boot for how about 2 times, and after the problems returned, but for now I did not have any BSOD. The system won't go after the post if I've got any USB device attached. Sometimes also the system wasn't showing the POST.
I risked another time updating the BIOS, and so the situation changed a little. Now the system won't boot if I've any USB device attached. I updated the bios another time, and the system loaded the OS with also USB devices connected for only one time, and it also started immediately when I press the start button (because all other time it asked me about 3-5 seconds after start powering the system).
Now, what I do? Have I to insist substituting the motherboard, or request another model (but I think that the seller won't accord it to me)?
I tested RAM and it was good, booting the system out from the case won't resolve the problem.
Sorry for the very long (but detailed) post and I hope someone helps me. I'm so sad...

That just might be your problem right there. Why did you update your bios in the 1st place.
You said in your 1st post that the system ran fine for 3 months or so.Is this right around the time you started flashing the bios?
Also flashing bios within windows is very risky....Did you use live update all these times to flash?
No. I used it only for the first and second time. The other times I updated from floppy. Sometimes (also in the first 3 months) the system didn't go after the bootloader.
The last times the system didn't go after the bootloader also if I had no USB peripherial connected, and for now I got 2 new BSODs after some time the system is turned on (with OS loaded succesfully).

  • Help! is my motherboard faulty?

    Hello,
I just bought a Neo 2 FISR2 motherboard with the 865PE chipset. I bought a P4 2.6 MHZ processor and 2 500MHZ ram sticks (512MB total) to go in it. I am using parts from my previous PC to upgrade. These parts are a Maxtor ATA133 hard drive and the other part that is at issue, my Gainward Ti42000 128MB G4 video card.
I noticed the warning notice about the installing 3.3V video cards in this motherboard, and I couldnt find out how many volts the Gainward is, but their are no jumpers on the card, so I dont think its a variable voltage card, and it has the 2 notches in the interface area so I assumed its an AGP4x and therefore not a 3.3V card.
So, anyway this is what happened. I put everything together and booted the system up fine. I tried to use the Promise IDE controller at first, but found that my current XP install wouldn't recognize it, so I switched it to a regular IDE slot. I then rebooted and got the WinXP logo load screen followed by a blue screen saying something about page fault...if this is the first time you get message reboot blah blah blah...if you get it repeatedly blah blah. So I rebooted with XP boot CD and reinstalled XP. Midway through the process I got a fatal installation error. I think that something is wrong with my CD because I tried reinstalling XP on my old setup after getting this, and got the same problem.
So, anyway, with the new motherboard, processor, ram and my Gainward video card, I rebooted after the setup error and my screen comes up blank. I try rebooting and same thing, my screen is blank. Everything is getting power, but my screen is blank, as if the monitor thinks my PC is off. I disconnect everything from the motherboard, reconnect a few hours later, and still same problem, everything blank. I try the video card on the old motherboard, everything blank also. So I thought my vid card was the problem. But then I waited like 6 hours, and tried again with my old motherboard, and it worked. So then I tried it with the new MSI motherboard, and it did not work. I went back to the old motherboard to make sure the video card was still working, and it was.
So is my MSI motherboard faulty? Or is the Video card a 3.3V video card? I cant seem to find out one way or the other from the manual or the Gainward website.
    Any help is immensely appreciated.
    Thanks

I read in one of the threads that this is not such a big problem, can't recall which one, but it is within two weeks if you want to search....

That 'regular' slot is better then the promise as it is supposed to be connected to the Southbridge of the mobo instead of the pci bus (I say supposed to as the device manager (on my 875 system btw) says it is on the pci bus)

Good thing you did reinstall, you can't just replace the -so to speak- backbone of your pc, and expect it to work perfectly

I think so too. I got the exact same error on my corporate edition winXP pro (Since I used to work at home the company I worked for gave me a license of some sort, not sure if it was all legal, but ok) Now I bought a new XP pro CD, completely legal and with service pack 1a and the problem disappeared, now I'm here typing (installed it last sunday)

Is there a D-bracket with your mobo, I believe there is?? anyway, install that, and post the light colors, that might help.... (The D-bracket is the one with two usb ports and four lights in case you don't know)

  • Qosmio G30 - Motherboard fried again

After 9 months, the motherboard died, still in warranty so replaced it.
Now another 9 months, no longer in warranty it has died again.
Is there any hope of some help from Toshiba?

    Hi
    Thats a sad story :(
But I think the Toshiba ASP in your country should be able to help you
If you have a hardware issue with your notebook, you have to contact always the local Toshiba authorized service partner.
Explain the guys the whole story and ask for the further handling.
Unfortunately but this is everything what I can suggest
    Good luck

  • New motherboard faulty boot help needed urgently

So i just baught my new amd athlon  64 3000 +with a msi k8mm3 mainboared. when i finshed installing it and booted it up it detects both hard drives and all the memory. then it says "loading dmi pool .........." then the maxtor drive overlay splash appears. after that it goes to where you can select to start in safe mode and what ever you select it loads for a second and then restarts and does the same thing again. i've tried changing the power supply, leads, reset the cmos and unplugged all unnessery equipment but it still does it. any help will be appreciated.
    here's my spec
HD (1) western digital 40gb  (windows xp home OS installed)
    HD (2) maxtor 200gb
ATI radeon 9600xt 256mb graphics card
    350 watt power supply
    cd rom
    floppy

If this is a current system in where you had Windows installed and you just replaced those parts, then you will have to do a repair/install of windows due to different chipset drivers and whatnot. This might prevent you from having to do a complete format/re-install. Otherwise you might have to completely format your system. No other way around it.

  • MSI Big Bang XPower Power won't post (d4 debug) (again!)

    Specifications:
    MSI Big Bang XPower Mainboard
    Rosewill 1100W Bronze Edition
    GeForce 465 Fermi
    Corsair Dominator DDR3 1886 6 x 2GB RAM
    Intel i7-930 processr
Issue:  System powers up for about 30 seconds, the debug indicator gets to d4 (indicating problem initializing the memory per the handbook) and doesn't post. System will remain running however (different from another guy on the forum having a nearly identical problem.)
I've tried rearranging the RAM.  If I put a stick in the first blue slot the debug reads E8. I've tried using various single sticks in the first black slot closest to the CPU (all produce D4). I've checked the CPU socket pins to make sure they aren't bent, and I've tried reseating the CPU. I've checked that both 8-pin 12Vs are connected and secure as well as the 24-pin connection. I've tried using three sticks of ram at once in the black slots with no success either. In another thread user HU16E verified on Corsair's webpage that this RAM should be working with this board.
Finally, in another thread a user with an identical processor, mobo, and RAM (only difference on the ram being he has 1600 and mine is 18XX, I think 1886) demonstrates the same exact problem. Our video cards and PSUs differ.
Looking for the next step in determining a likely culprit. It seems odd to me that this set of corsair ram might be incompatible, but that's my current hypothesis because it seems even stranger to me that another user would be having the same problem. The chance of both of us getting faulty motherboards, faulty processors, or a full set of faulty ram seems remote.
Edit: Also did a benchtop test with just the PSU/CPU/CPU Fan/1 Stick of ram in the first black slot, D4 error.

    Quote
but if you think its worthwhile to check using the stock heatsink I'm more then willing to give it a shot.
Yes, please give that a try. Use just one stick in the primary black DIMM 1 slot.
    Quote
With the one sided clasp for the ram I was very liberal about pushing it down into the slot and applying a fair bit of force to make sure it sat correctly.
I found it to be rather tricky too.

If its a BIOS problem can I fix this without having a 'working' stick of RAM?
Unfortunately, no. If your board is a version 1.1, it should have a current enough bios to at least allow it to fire up with your RAM. Do any of your friends have a DDR3 rig to test your RAM in to make sure all the sticks are good?
    Quote
The odds of getting two bad boards (and the other user getting a bad board and having the same problem too) seems really remote to me, but I haven't built enough PCs to say that with any confidance. What do you think?
If they are from the same manufacturing batch....... hmmm! Possible.
Added: One of the forum users, Aaron, had 4 bad boards in a row. X58 Pro-E I believe they were. Same batch. MSI needs to know right away if a certain batch is having these problems. Have you got a ticket in with them yet explaining your difficulties?

  • 4th replacement 17" MBP faulty... what to do?

I've got the unibody 17" MBP and this is my fourth replacement which is faulty again. This is my first ever Mac.
I noticed it was beeping twice so I done the tech deluxe test and it came up that the video RAM is faulty.
I don't know what to do
I'm not happy at all... even though as this was my 4th replacement Apple are going to give me £130.
Will I be 5th time lucky? or should I just keep my 3rd one (I did the waiver form so I've still got and have to send it back in 5 days).
1st MBP: faulty GPU (lines came up on it)
2nd MBP: faulty RAM (2 beeps heard all the time)
3rd MBP: fan noise was really loud and gap between lid was quite big when closed
    4th MBP: faulty video RAM

Can you actually do it (the returns) this much as you say? Do you know if you get 14 days of so-called "Remorse Period" anew, every single time you receive yours?
I had my MacBook replaced two times over the course of last month and a half. First time I had some problems with the hard-drive (it was excruciatingly loud), the second time I had discolored speaker area, it looked like white waterstains that could not have been removed with anything, plus I had a really nasty, discolored stain on the lid - most likely just a manufacturing glitch. I'm on my third one, but this one - in turn - seems to have a loud trackpad (remarkably louder than my previous one), it's harder to press and much more noisy than the previous one I had (checked), plus the hard-disk is noisy again, I'm pretty sure it's more noisy than the one in my last MacBook (the waterstained one) - although I'm not 100% sure, as I phoned Apple the day I received a replacement and basically have not paid that much attention to the overall features, as I already knew it's not gonna be my final one.
I have a 5400rpm drive, and the MacBook has been custom ordered as well, i.e. I have a 2.93GHz processor. I also seem to have some problems with the wi-fi connection this time, even though I have full coverage, occasionally it does not allows me to browse websites on FireFox (IM stays on-line), but not sure whether it's the AirPort going bonkers or is it just the connection that's dodgy - I've moved to a new place and started using a completely new network just a few days before I had to return my old MacBook Pro, so obviously hadn't had a chance to use the Internet with my old Mac much.
I am about to have a meeting with a Genius at AppleStore on Regent Street tomorrow, but considering getting a replacement anyway. I am just worried and seriously concerned about them sending me another MacBook with another fault, and that this is going to keep spiralling into infinity. Unfortunately, I have ordered mine on-line as well (not sure about the Apple policy in the US, but UK doesn't allow you to customize MacBooks in-store, save for additional memory - that's what I've been told numerous times by Apple Employees). That - in turn - means, that I have to sort everything out on-line and have virtually no way to see and test my MB before it actually arrives on the door. And, as the whole process goes on since mid-March (when I have submitted the on-line order for my very first Mac), I seriously start being exhausted, to say the very least, with all these returns, shipments, waiting for a new Mac, waivers, returns, and then again and again and again...
My "faults" seem to be quite minor issues compared to your ones that seem to be actually proper faults that seriously impact the functionality of hardware, but they are quite frustrating for me nonetheless, especially considering that I've spent well over £2'000 on it, so I was kinda expecting a flawless and crystal clear machine with no problems with it whatsoever. Not sure what to do, to be honest, as - as I've said - I kinda had enough, but on the other hand, want to be satisfied so that I feel it has been money well spent, so maybe I shouldn't give up (yet) if there is still a chance for the MacBook to be replaced?
Dunno, there - supposedly - is a 14 day remorse period after the computer arrives, so I should have the time until the forthcoming Wednesday...

Normally at this point any USB devices that were already connected to the computer (mouse, webcam) will continue to work fine, but any new device I connect isn't recognised at all (doesn't show in lsusb). The only way to correct the situation is to reboot the machine, which is far from convenient - I have been forced to reboot upwards of 5 times in a single day when trying to work with my Arduino.
In addition, the problem seemed to get another step worse yesterday. I had a few USB devices attached including a USB soundcard & was working away listening to music, when all of a sudden the music stopped & when I tailed the log the hub_port_status failed message was there again. So I hadn't connected or disconnected anything, it had sporadically broken!
I do not have a USB hub connected to the computer, the problem arises when using both the front & back USB ports. Incidentally I have exactly the same motherboard & processor in my computer at home (the computer with the problem is my computer at work) & have never had the issue, however I don't connect/disconnect USB devices to that one anywhere near as frequently.
So, any ideas? Is it a bug in software, or is the USB controller on this motherboard faulty?
Edit: the BIOS has an 'EHCI hand-off' feature that is currently disabled, will enabling it effect anything useful?

Today I faced similar problems, so I think I'm not OT here... Here's my dmesg output:
    May 12 21:53:19 merlinux kernel: [ 860.673261] usb 5-1: device descriptor read/64, error -110
    May 12 21:53:34 merlinux kernel: [ 875.883268] usb 5-1: device descriptor read/64, error -110

May 12 21:54:26 merlinux kernel: [ 927.199931] hub 5-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1
I realized after various attempts that logging into the system, opening a terminal and issuing a:
    usb-devices
command, brings up again _all_ of the previously inactive usb devices.
My main problem was that the USB mouse got disabled with that "device descriptor" error -110 at startup, and it was annoying not to have a mouse after login.
To say all the truth, "usb-devices" stands still at a certain point of its execution for quite a long time: I guess that the problem lies just behind the moment in which usb-devices stucks!
But as I said, after about a 30s about pause it restores the faulty usb devices.
Really can't figure out (since I'm not so an advanced linux user) the reason for this behaviour!
I can only generically point my finger at the *huge* update I did this morning (was a little bit I didn't boot on my beloved Arch system, for many reasons...)
Just another note: before restoring the devices with usb-devices, lsusb does *not* show the inactive devices in the list. Maybe this is trivial for advanced users and its not so amazing, but I'm not so skilled so I felt I had to tell you also this little detail!

  • MSI P67-A GD53 Triple Power Cycle

    Hi all,
1st of all let me introduce myself, my name is Damien and I have been a PC enthusiast ever since I built my 1st PC when I was 10 years old (15 years ago), I am a massive fan of the PC gaming scene etc and have always played games on my PC because it is so much better.
Now I have had a few issues over the past week or two with motherboard's and cpu's etc, and to give you a idea of how lucky I usually am with PCs this last week or two has been the worst time I have had with motherboard's and cpu's ever in my whole time of building PCs.
1st it was a motherboard that went bang, so was replaced then that replacement motherboard would not accept voltage changes and was trying to put 1.8v through my ram which was 1.5v max, then I replaced that board with another that blew up, so I then bought a new board and chip which turned out to be faulty again.
Now you may think I am going on but this will make sense in a minute, so I got fed up with buying faulty stuff so I went to a very good PC part's retailer in the UK called Scan Computer's, I have used them for quite a while now and spent a fortune in there.
Scan do pre overclocked bundle's where they overclock the CPU for you and test everything, so because of the trouble I have had I bought one which comes with a MSI P67-A GD53 motherboard but I have noticed some times when it boot's it will power up and then down and then up and down, again and then it will power up and boot in to window's.
My question is should it do this or not as I really don't want another faulty board.
Any help will greatly be received as I am now at wit's end with this PC.

It shouldn't do this, but having said that, it is not uncommon on the Sandy Bridge platform, experienced infrequently on boards from different manufacturers.
I would be reluctant to advise you to meddle with a complete build from Scan without discussing it with them first.
We can probably give you advice on a couple of things you can try, but I don't know what your warranty conditions are if you mess with the BIOS.
Maybe you want to save your current BIOS settings as a profile first, so that you can load it again.
Then do a CMOS clear for now and see if it behaves any differently. >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Please do provide your full system specs and what the current BIOS settings are, i.e. did you opt for a shop overclocked model ?>>Posting Guide<<

  • Sometimes cannot start PC: problem with Hitachi SATA Hard drive and K7N2G-ILSR

I have major problem with my 160Gb SATA Hitachi hard drive and my MSI K7N2G-ILSR motherboard.  Sometimes the PC can be started, sometimes it cannot.
After I installed a clean build of Windows XP Pro SP1 onto my new hard drive (as the only hard drive in my PC) and install all the necessary drivers, the system runs smoothly.  However, after about 2 to 3 weeks, sometimes when I start the PC, it cannot detect the hard drive and hence it claimes that it cannot find any VMI Pool Data (i.e. no OS detected).  What makes it really horrible is that, it is like the lottery everytime when I start the PC.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  The highest record was 8 consecutive failures (by resetting or by turning the power off and on again) before I can start the machine properly.  Also, the system sometimes just crashes in the middle of operating.
I have already sent the hard drive back to Hitachi.  Got the same model of hard drive back as replacement, but the replacement has the same problem, except with the replacement drive the PC can be started eventually after many tries, while with the previous drive it is possible that the PC cannot be started until after a few days later.
Also, it seems that my drive can detect either SATA hard drive or PATA hard drive, but not both.  (If I leave my old PATA drive connect in the primary IDE channel, Windows cannot detect the new SATA drive.)
Is my motherboard faulty?  Can it only use PATA drive?
My PC's spec is as follows:
    AMD Athlon XP 2500+
512Mb PC3200 SDRAM (set to run at 166MHz)
Hitachi 160Gb SATA Hard drive on 1st SATA channel (Model #HDS722516VLSA80)
Sony DVD+-RW drive and Panasonic DVD-ROM drive on secondary IDE channel
    Use onboard video (GeForce MX)
US Robotech V92 internal PCI modem
    SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Player soundcard
    Onboard audio disabled
    300W PSU
OS is Windows XP Pro SP1 (with all latest security patches up to date)

    that is not entirly correct.
many harddrives just come with different ways to connect them.
the only sata drives i now that spins faster is western digital raptors 10k rpm.
all other is running at 7200rpm.
    older drives run at 5400rpm
Yes to get the full benefit of RAID, the Raptors are the way to go.Anything else, no significant difference.

  • Dead Board or dead cpu?

i have ( had since it doesnt power on anymore) with the following
    AMd 64 3500
    K8N Neo2 platinum ( with latest bios)
    lDDR400 2x 512meg Legend memory
    Sata hard drive
    Dvd combo MSi
    Albatron 6800GT.
The machine refuse to power on . Press the power button nothing. tried different power supply nothing.
Disconnected vid card, drive , evrything ...no power on, well it switches on for like a millisec and goes dead again. if I press pwoer button again nothing, if i unplug then switch it does the millisec again then dies again.
I installed that Msi core application was set on cool and quiet no overclocking. this morning boot the machine the fan was at low speed temp was around 60 degrees, i got a message from that cor center saying temp to high .do you want to shut down I did immediatly. reprted temp was 80 degrees.
tried to reboot no power on cant even see the blue light on the case main switch.
Tried to reset Cmos to no avail.
    Anyone has suggestion?
is the motherboard faulty or is it the cpu?

I sure hope you aren't another one of those people. After all we really don't have anything to do with MSI except we also purchased a board, got it to work, and decided to try to give back something to the community by offering free advice to those who appreciate it.
BTW, anybody who has RMAed 3 mobos purchased it from a vendor who allows anything to be returned whether it is actually bad or not. You may get a bad mobo now and then, but two in a lifetime is stretching things, and 3 means you should have bought a $60 million lottery ticket instead of a PC.
I agree the chances of this happening are ultra slim not to say impossible. Something else would have to be wrong with is set up. I guess I am frustrated by the all thing.
When I bought this machine I decided that with a high end system ( never having owned one bfr) I should have it speced and built for me> So I gave a list of conmponent to MSI delaler and said " ok these are my specs you make it with whatever will perform well and not give me grief and compatibility problems".  when i received the system I could not install winxp, the ram DDR400 was in the wrong slots.
That was rectified, everything worked ok ( actually I was very Happy with My system)
High frame rates in games , no freezes after install of SP1. was all good. I am not  saying outright ho this MSI 's fault. I am just trying to understand what went wrong, so it doesn't happen again. And i Understand that such new design cannot work 100% of the time and future Bios may aleviate problems experienced by users
When you get a failure you tend generally to blame the latest application or bit of hardware or driver you have installed ( it's human to jump to conclusion).
Lets state the facts in a rational way.
    1) my board died foir no apparent reason. ( so it seems I am waiting on the test results. but I assume it did it seems logical)
2)i did not add any hardware, or open the case system was performing great exept for the fact that the fans were going full speed all the time . so a quick look at msi web site + MSI update software, which by the way is great ( finds latest bios , utilitiy version etc all from 1 mouse click, all good)
I installed core centre 1.7 that supports my board, it seemed  to work too, fan speed seemed to decrease with temperature, was happy with it.
3 days later system is dead.
NB temp was never reported said N/a What does NB STANDS FOR?
    system temp reprted 7 degrees
core temp was between 47 and 60 reported ( 60 after a game 41 to 47 idling or little activity)
so beeing Human and beeing a brand new system I wonder If that core centre app could have reported wrong temperatures giving me a false sens of security while the system temp may have in fact be much higher than reproted? and consequently the motherboard or processor or both are now fried....

  • 848P Won't reboot - just hangs!?

    Hi,
I recently installed the new 848P motherboard and it works fine most of the time. But sometimes when i switch it on the screen just stays black and if i check the Diagnostic lights on the pci card light no 2 (Memory Check) stays lit. According to the manual this indicates the memory has failed initial tests?
    I'm using PC3200 400Mhz DDR 1GB (2 x512MB) - which is brand new.
I though my old 848P might have had a problem so this is my second 848P and it does the same thing.
Weird though as most of the time it works fine. Another strange and very irrating thing is that when i go to Reboot from Windows XP it shuts down and fails to start up. The power stays on but the screen is blank.
If my memory was bad it wouldn't start up at all or work properly at all would it?
At the moment its hit and miss whether it will boot and reboot successfully, but when it does boot and load XP ok it runs fine....
    Any ideas?

    Hi NovJoe,
Thankyou for your reply, your help is very much appreciated.
I should point out, although its probably obvious ;-) , that i'm not an overclocker - it does interest me but i have zero experience of timings etc...
Words fail me as to why MSI have released a motherboard which fails to work with standard PC3200 DDR RAM. What happened to the days of checking the spec of the mobo and just ordering memory as usual.
Having checked around i now found there are memory compatibility charts showing memory which does or doesn't work with the different types of MSI boards out there. This seems absoultely crazy to me. Whats even more crazy is that the compatibillty charts for the 848P arn't even up to date, mostly showing only 256MB strips from companies i've never heard of!
Never in my 12 years of working in IT have i ever had so many problems getting 1 component to work properly. I have wasted so much time and sleep looking into what has been causing my system problems and now that it seems CL3 memory or timing settings are to blame.
Why don't MSI make a point of making this clear to prospective customers. This board is more pickier than a Vegetarian in a Butchers shop as far as memory goes! There is no mention of the more detailed spec's of the memory thats likely to work with this board on MSI's site whatsoever...
As i mentioned before in other postings, i actually sent the first 848P board back to my supplier beleiving it to be faulty! This is really going to damage MSI's reputation if they don't get the boards compatibility up to scratch and more importantly give much better information on what and what not to use!
I really don't like the fact that the 2 x 512MB CL3 Crucial memory that i bought won't work without some tweeking in the BIOS - if it does at all. My system works fine if i leave just one strip in, so for some reason it doesn't like both in at the same time.....
For those of you reading this that might be having the same problems, the DDR ram i am trying to use is :
    Crucial 2 x 512MB 184DIMM PC3200 NP CL3 - Manfacturer code CT6464Z40B
Therefore, to save my sanity and my wallet. Please can you tell me what will work with this 848P.
I have shortlisted 2 decent looking memory chips :
    Kingston Value 512MB 184DIMM PC3200 NP CL2.5 KVR400X64C3A/512 - Heres the URL for it ( http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator/PartsInfo.asp?ktcpartno=KVR400X64C25/512 )
I found the Kingston memory by using their memory locator for MSI boards, it listed the 256MB version of this chip as compatible but there was no mention of the KVR400X64C3A/512 that i want...... i want to go for this i as noticed you NovJoe use Kingston Value RAM and i want CL2.5 latency! ;-)
    The other is :-
Corsair (TWINX1024-3200C2) 1024MB DDR400 Memory Module - This is more expensive but i'm concerned that there is no mention of latency for this memory on the supplier or manufacturers website...
I really have been looking for hours, searching the msi forums for both of these memory strips to see if others mention them, i've searched long and hard on the net to try and find which are compatible too.... Although MSI memory compatible list has quite a few types on there the main makes available to me are either Kingston or Corsair.
I've never known a situation like this before, why oh why is this motherboard so damn picky about which RAM it will work, why should i need to set it up in the BIOS - without this forum and your kind help i'd have absolutely no idea where to start and would just assume tha the mobo was faulty again!
I'm really angry about this, but please don't think any anger is directed at you NovJoe, i'd really appreciate your help getting this working.
I'm sending the Crucial memory back today, so i'd really appreciate your decision on which DDR400 to buy to use in the 848P - i'd like 1GB in total.
    Thank You

  • The person Im calling cant hear me

I have the Z3 compact and when I make a phone call I am constantly getting told by the reciever that they cant hear me or its a bad line, I always have a good signal and can hear them perfectly....what is the problem? also what settings should my phone be set to in call settings for best voice calls? I have just urgraded to 4.4.4 also (not sure if that helps)thanks for your response.

Yes just untick the noise suppression and voice enchantment.. It worked for me, i thought my phone was faulty again bcz i just changed my motherboard.. Bt when i untick those 2 boxes, everything went bck to normal

  • N660TI PE 2GD5/OC Blank Screen on POST

    Hi,
    The Summary:
Turning on PC with N660TI plugged in presents blank screen on POST.
Am able to get the card working by "jump starting it" - read below for details
Have tried many things and am stuck.
    Please help!
    The Detail:
I was given a N660TI PE 2GD5/OC in October last year from the US as a gift (I live in South Africa) and when it first arrived I placed it in my Asus P8P67 Evo Motherboard and it failed to POST completely.  We tried it in my friends Asus P8P67 board and it worked 100%, his MSI 560TI works 100% in my P8P67 Evo.  In December, Asus released a BIOS update for the P8P67 Evo to bring it on-par with the P8P67 and we could get the 660TI to POST by booting the machine with no PCI-E Power plugs installed, waiting for the message to appear to say "plug in power to the card", then plugging in power and hitting the RESET button on the board - this works everytime and I have been "jump starting" my pc like this for some time.  We have tried BIOS updates and VBios updates and eventually today, I got fed up and bought a MSI Z77A-GD65 thinking it was a faulty P8P67 Evo.
After installing the MSI Z77A-GD65 the situation is the same.  We have now updated the MSI to the latest BETA UEFI Bios (A91) and the 660TI to the latest vbios I found on the forums which is 220MS.Rom.
Tonight, my friend will take the card and try it on his motherboard (P8P67) again and we will update the post tomorrow.
Has anyone got any suggestions for us as I am at my wits end and as I received the card as a gift from overseas, the local Distributors will not help me and I will have to send it to Europe at an expense of about 60% of the cost of a new card locally which doesn't really make much financial sense :(
    My Hardware:
    Intel Core I5-2500K (Stock)
MSI Z77A-GD65 Motherboard (was ASUS P8P67 Evo)
Coolermaster 600W Silent Pro Gold PSU
    MSI N660TI PE 2GD5/OC (Stock)
    2x Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3-1600
    Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit
    OCZ Agility 3 SSD
    N660TI PE S/N:  602-V284-09SB1208153785
    Thanks
    --Craig

Ok I seem to have solved the problem.  I replaced my PSU with a 450w spare one and now it POSTs - I must mention the 600W Coolermaster does work 100% with my friends 560 Ti and another card, so there is nothing wrong with the PSU itself.
My Windows was also crashing the driver after this every 5 mins, but after changing the TDRDelay registry key to 20, it is stable the whole night so far.
Any ideas why this card does not POST with my VERY expensive PSU.  I have read on Tomshardware that apparently some PSUs cause the card not to POST because of changes MSI made to the card?
