Is NI 9235/9236 supported in 9144 platfrom?

I need to know if NI 9235/926 can be used in 9144 chassis for deterministric ethernet application. I'm planning on using several 9144 chassis fully popluated with 9235/9236 modules with PXI 8106 RT controller. The exisitng list (<link no longer exists>) of C-series I/O modules compatible with 9144 does not include 9236/9236.

The 9144 platform is a new release, and the new 923x strain modules were not available at the time the 9144 and the scan engine were released.  These are in the works.   However, they are off in the future a bit.
Vahan, can you send to me an email, so we can discuss directly?

  • Uncontrolled sampling rate of NI 9235

    Hi,
I am using NI9178 chassis for the strain measurements using NI 9235 strain module. I am having trouble in controlling the sampling rate. Irrespective of the sampling rate (as entered on property set up), it's reading the data quite frequently. For an example, I set the sampling rate as 1 S/s, but it's acquiring data at the rate of 794 S/s. How can I make it read the data according to sampling rate as specified in property set up?
    Thanks
    Piyush
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

794S/s is the slowest the NI 9235 can acquire.  DAQmx coerces the sample rate up to the next possible rate.  Most of the time this is a very tiny coercion but for your module it is much more dramatic.  The module has a limited number of data rates.  See the Understanding NI 9235/9236 Data Rates section in the NI 9235 manual.

  • Does the cRIO Scan Engine Support Offset and Shunt Calibration on the 9237 module

    Thanks.

    Sachsm,
The documentation for the Set Shunt Calibration (Scan Interface).vi should have been in the VI help but it looks like it didn't make it so I'll make sure it gets updated.  I'll double check my understanding tomorrow morning but the documentation should be the following for the inputs of this VI:
slot -  Specifies the chassis slot of the strain module (9237, 9235, 9236 ). Valid values are 1 through N, where N is the number of slots in the chassis.
channel - Specifies the channel to be affected.  Valid values are 0-N where N is the channel for shunt calibration.
value - Turns Shunt calibration on or off. Valid values are 0 or 1 where a value of 1 will turn shunt calibration on for the given slot and channel.
Now, for your orginal question about offsets on the AI inputs, here are my addtional thoughts:
Unlike our SCXI products, the NI 9237 does not have an internal hardware nulling circuitry because its input range is sufficiently wide so that the inputs will not saturate even with a very large initial bridge offset.  Since the 9237 does not have any hardware nulling circuitry, you have to perform offset nulling with software compenstation, and save the value to use later in the application as you mentioned.  For example, when an offset null is performed in DAQmx, the entire offset is stored in the Initial Bridge Voltage property and is stored in software.  You should see the same offset if you used the module from DAQmx, FPGA Interface, or in the Scan Interface.  With that being said, I believe what your seeing is really just the resting measurement of the module and transducer together and you should be able to zero out your measurement by performing Software Compensation.
Regarding, Offset Calibration, I think its important to make clear exactly what it is providing as the name is a little misleading.  The Offset Cal feature of the 9237 is really more like an Auto Zero used for eliminating offsets generated by an amplifier stage and doesn't provide the same behavior as offset nulling. In Auto Zero Mode, the 9237 shorts the input channel to ground and subtracts the obtained measurement from all subsequent samples. Performing an auto zero is a quick calibration technique that takes place at the beginning of a scan.  A typical use of the Offset calibration feature would be to set it true at the begining of acquiring data and then leaving it on indefinitely.
Personally, I do not bother enabling offset cal in my FPGA applications because the measurement of the sensor at rest takes into account all sensor and module offsets.
And finally, if your looking for some information on how to perform shunt calibration, I like to refer to the example VI located here:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\examples\CompactRIO\Module Specific\NI 9235\NI 9235 Getting Started
As it has walks through the programming steps of setting up Shunt cal and applying the Gain Factors.  Its written for LabVIEW FPGA but it should be easy to use with Scan Interface.
Hope that helps a little bit,
Let me know if you have questions and I'll help where I can or bug the right engineer.

  • SMP3.0 Kapsel support for SOAP and REST services(not ODATA) and Symbian platfrom

    Dear Experts,
Can we develop apps using Kapsel on SOAP and REST services?
As phonegap supports Symbian platform, will Kapsel apps work on Symbian???
    Regards
    Srini
    7730801444

I think you should reconsidering the Phonegap supports Symbian part.
As Phonegap is based upon Cordova, PG basically supports what Cordova supports. Cordova dropped Symbian a while ago. The latest release does not support Symbian: Apache Cordova
The Platform section does not mention Symbian, but does some "exotic" ones like WebOS, Tizen, FirefoxOS.
Same for PG: PhoneGap API Documentation -> no Symbian
Sure, PG 2.x listed Symbian, but 2.x is based on another architecture than PG 3 and Cordova 3. As Kapsel is a set of SAP plugins for Cordova 3, Kapsel needs Cordova 3.
As long as Symbian is not in the list of platform Cordova runs on, there won't be Kapsel for Symbian.

  • BI platfrom remote support

    Hi All,
Can anyone give me details of the remote support component BO platform. I got to know that for BI 4.x this remote support is setup using solution manager and wily introscope stand alone configuration.
How is setup in existing bo4.1 system and what are the major advantages and effort required. Also what is the difference between Monitoring service which is available in BI 4.x or this BI monitoring has to merge with these remote support components.
Please share your ideas and how to install / setup these remote support components.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Emanuel & Asma,
    Thanks for the replies.
After going through the links, I see that, this remote support component is suppreted in BO XI3.1, there are options given for BO 4.0 also, like
    Solution
    EarlyWatch Alert
    Documentation
    SAP Solution Manager
    Yes
    Note 1653689 - SolMan 7.1: Managed Sys Setup - BI Platform 4.0
    Wily Introscope stand-alone configuration
    No
Note 1540591 - Wily Introscope Setup for SAP BOE 4.0
How to proceed for this to setup. Do we need both SAP SolMan along wtih Introscope required, thou there is no Earlywatch alert option not available for Intrsoscope. Installation steps or document is available.
    Please help.

  • NI 9214 FPGA I/O items missing (cRIO-9030 / NI 9144 combo)

I have a new cRIO-9030 and NI 9144 EtherCAT expansion chassis which I have configured and added to an existing LabVIEW project containing a cRIO-9012. When I searched for existing targets and devices, the modules were correctly detected (NI 9237, NI 9263 and NI 9265 on the cRIO-9030, and NI 9214 and NI 9477 on the NI 9144 chassis); however, the I/O items listed for the NI 9214 module show only the 16 thermocouple channels (TC0 through TC15). The four additional channels are not shown (Autozero and CJC0 through CJC2), although they did when the module was previously configured for the cRIO-9012.  Is this a known / compatibility issue with the NI 9144? or is there a configuration option I am missing? Does the terminal block need to be in place on the module for these I/O items to appear?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey CFER,
You are correct only the thermocouple channels are availble through the scan engine. The availabe channels for each module are documented in the compactRIO help. This should be the same for all chassis. Can you double check the 9012 was setup in FPGA mode? Its easy to overlook sometimes.

  • IDS 4230 - End of Software Support = No Signature Update?

I have one question regarding to Product Bulletin, No. 1772 - "End-of-Sale Announcement for Cisco Intrusion Detection System 4230 Platform"
According to the bulletin, the date of End of software support is July 31, 2005. Does it mean the signate update for this platfrom will not be available after July 31, 2005 or it just mean that the new version of the IDS sensor software will no longer support this platform.

As for your first question about replacing EOL equipment with another EOL equipment.
Ordinarily this would not be done, except that the IDS-4230 has hardware issues and were eligible for a no cost replacement program.
Under ordinary circumstances a failed IDS-4230 would only have been replaced with a refurbished IDS-4230.
But because of the hardware issues a failed IDS-4230 will be replaced with a IDS-4235.
RMA processes are not meant to be used for free upgrades to the newest products. The RMA process is only for replacing of failed products with either the original product or a suitable replacement. The IDS-4235 is a suitable replacement for the IDS-4230 because it has higher performance and a longer period of support.
Customers wanting to purchase a new IDS-4230 or IDS-4235 are directed to purcahse an IPS-4240 instead.
As for signature support on the IDS-4230.
The IDS-4230 signature support is tied to the End of Signature support for the version 4.1 software.
I have yet to see an official notification on CCO for the end of signature support for the IDS 4.1 software.
What this tells you is that the end of support is still more than six months away.
The posting of the notification will give you a minimum 6 months notice.
So as of the end of November you can feel comfortable that signature support for 4.1 will extend beyond end of May 2006.
Unofficially I have heard end of signature support for 4.1 being around August/September 2006, but that is still subject to change until a formal notice is posted on CCO.

  • CRIO 9068 + Scan Engine Support Error - Even though it is installed on cRIO, after deploying error says its missing

    All,
I have a cRIO-9068 that I am trying to use the scan mode for. I have intalled all the latest drivers and software as explained. However, when I set my chassis to scan mode and then select deploy all, I recieve this error on my chassis and all of my modules:
"The current module settigns require NI Scan Engine support on the controller. You can use Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) to install a recomended software set of NI-RIO with NI Scan Engine support on the controller. If LabVIEW FPGA is installed, you can use this module with LabVIEW FPGA by adding an FPGA Target Item under the chassis, and drag and drop the module onto the FPGA Target Item."
Has anyone experienced this or know why labVIEW won't recognize that the software is installed on my cRIO or is it not being installed correctly?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

So I found that the target's Scan Engine was in Configuration mode.  After placing it in Active, I was able to deploy all of the modules on the cRIO target.  However, now I cannot deploy any of my modules on my EtherCAT NI 9144 racks regardless of which scan mode I place the Scan Engine.  I verified that I have all software on the cRIO target I need.  I was also able to find the EtherCAT slaves and their modules on MAX and I was able to add them to the project.  The problem I am having is being able to deploy them.  I have gone through the procedure outlined in the manual provided with the EtherCAT racks and the following link with no issues:  http://www.ni.com/white-paper/10555/en/
The top LEDs on the EtherCAT racks are solid yellow and the bottom are solid green.  Does anyone know why I may be having this problem?

  • SAP WM 5.3 Support on SMP 3.0 SP03

    Hi,
I have deployed SAP WM 5.3 on SMP 3.0 SP03 and restarted SMP server. Agentry application started successfully. But, when i connect through Agentry client , it is showing 'Invalid password'.
Can you please confirm SAP WM 5.3 is supported in SMP 3.0 SP03?
    Regards,
    Anselm

SAP will only support the Application on the patform it was release.
WM 5.3 is only supported on Agentry 6
WM 6.0 is only supported on SMP 2.3 (Agentry 6.1)
WM 6.1 is only supported on SMP 3 (Agentry 7.0)
While it not supported,  If you find an issue, support can help if it falls under one of the two:
    1.  The issue can be seen when using the Application on the Release platfrom version (for 5.3 it would be Agentry 6.)
    2.  The issue can be seen on all applications running on that platform.  (i.e if you have a different test application on SMP 3 that has the same issue).

  • Compability issue 9222 module in 9144 chassis

I am running a cRIO-9025 system with additional 9144 chassis. After putting a 9222 module in the 9144 chassis I found that it wouldn't work. I checked the NI websites and found a table were it is listed that this combination is in fact not supported. Will this be changed in the future? Is it possible to use it in the 9114 chassis of the cRIO? When I tried it, it said that it only works in FPGA-mode while I was using this SCAN-mode. As far as I understood this SCAN-mode is necessary for the 9144. So, I wondered if it is possible to use the SCAN-mode only for the 9144 and the FPGA-mode for the 9114 and if so, how to do it?
I am very new to all this, so a newbie-friendly explanation or a link to a good document about this topic would be highly appreciated. Thank you very much!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

-Yes you can use scan mode for the 9144 and FPGA mode for the 9114. This is the way you will have to set the project as teh 9222 isn't supported in scan mode.
You don't have to do anything special to make that work, just configure both chassis.
We try to get all module in scan mode but, because of performance issue, don't support all c-series modules. We consistently re-evaluate what modules we support - I will make sure your feedback on the 9222 gets to the development team.

  • 9144 with custom FPGA and SGL EtherCAT User-defined Variables?

    Hi,
I currently have a small instrument driver (rs485) running on a 9144 chassis. The output values are communicated to the EtherCAT Master using FXP numbers. I would like to switch these FXP to SGL since I upgraded to LV 2012 SP1 with FPGA now supporting SGL numbers.
Is this possible? I tried several times to create the SGL User-defined Variables in the project, but the date type is grayed out.
    Greetings from Munich,
    Götz
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unfortunately, SGL is not a supported data type for communication to/from a 9144. The available data types for user-defined I/O variables are:
    * Fixed Point
    * Signed Integers(Int8, Int16, Int32, Int64)
    * Unsigned Integers (UInt8, UInt16, UInt32, UInt64)
    * U32 Bit Field
    * Boolean

  • Cannot install windows 8.1 on imac 5k - apple support says "Correct, that machine can't install windows" Boot camp fail

I have a brand new imac 5k, with 4ghz i7, 295x GPU, 3.1TB fusion drive.  Bought the machine so I could dual boot - I need windows for VR Dev work.
I've spent the last week and a half on tech support calls with Apple Senior Tech agents, and Microsoft agents as well, and today have been told that indeed this machine cannot run windows 8.1.  Apparently Apple engineering knows about the issue, but says the problem is microsoft's.  Ugh.
The latest iteration of the issue comes when installing 8.1 onto an external thunderbolt SSD (without even using boot camp) - I go through the EFI installer, convert the drive to GPT, format it as ntfs, but when I select the partition to install onto, the installer says it can't find the partition it just created.  Smuh?
I've also tried the install through boot camp.  This installation actually worked twice, but the install was unstable.  After booting back into osX, then returning to Windows, the windows install went corrupt and couldn't be repaired.  Subsequent attempts to install windows yielded a flurry of different errors, including "windows doesn't support GPT in this mode" or "the disk is locked, please unlock the disk" or "MBR must be converted to GPT" (where once I converted to GPT, the drive could no longer be found, despite the operation completing successfully.)
At any rate, it's a huge mess.  I'd happily return the machine for a different config, but the company I bought it from will only swap it for a similar model -- so I've spent a pile on a machine that does not function as advertised; apple says "too bad, talk to Microsoft." Microsoft says "too bad, we've never seen this, this is an apple issue."
Has anyone out there gotten windows up and running on an iMac5k with fusion drive?  If so, did you have to go through a crazy maze to make it work?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    MC

    Michael Conelly wrote:
After much gnashing of teeth, and a half dozen support calls, I'd all but given up.  I finally seem to have solved this though - sort of - by installing windows 8.1 on boot camp on an older iMac, then cloning the bootcamp disk to an external thunderbolt drive via Winclone.  That worked seamlessly, sticking to winclone's instructions, and I can boot via EFI to Windows 8.1 on the new iMac.  So far so good.
I usually install W8.1 via EFI by using DU and a Free Space partition. The 3TB Fusion is first split into the underlying SSD/HDD physicals. OSX and Windows OSes are installed on SSD via EFI (no BCA). The OSX part and half the HDD are then used to create a new CS volume. The other HDD half becomes NTFS for non-Windows OS files. The Hybrid MBR method is completely unsatisfactory with the 3TB Fusion drive.
How is the TB/Winclone image for performance of the OS (since pagefile.sys is also on the TB)?
