Is there a bean or class framework for DatabaseSession?

Looking for a bean or class framework that supports a rather conventional 2-tier rich client/forms-type application.
Ideally (1) a bean encapsulating DatabaseSession to support QBE, navigation, insert, and delete functions over a Collection specified as a parameter to the bean; (2) a bean implemting a JToolBar to drive the first bean; and (3) document models to connect the object Collection to Swing widgets.
Anyone have or know of such a framework?
Thanks,
Gerald

I was just wondering the same thing.  With the new Facebook and Twitter integration, it seems to me that it should be the next logical step for iTunes.
Also, i love iCloud and iTunes Match, however, with this "cloud" technology now available and working great, I'd like to see iTunes move in a direction similar to Spotify.  At this point, I don't see why (if I have all my music physically stored in my home computer) I have to re-download it into my devices (iPhone and iPad) to listen to it remotely...  It should simply stream right from the cloud, and not actually take up precious space in your devices...  This would be a great fix...
I use iTunes a lot because I use it to maintain my music collection, which I have built up over the years, but to be honest, I haven't downloaded an album or song since I became a member of Spotify about a year ago.  Its just less of a hassle.  No need to back up your music files because of the fear that you might lose them all, a thought which would sometimes keep me up at night... (It happened to my brother).  With Spotify, all the music in the world is just there...  being administered by someone else... all you have to do is hit play... and pay the monthly fee, of course...
Anyways, sorry for the long speech...

  • Error Msg - "You must add the Class files for this enterprise bean"

    Hi,
    I am creating creating new enterprise bean using j2sdkee1.2. I am able to create .ear file in desired folder, but can not create .jar. Please help. Getting above error message.
    remote, home interface files and file having business logic (EJB) is compiled and kept at desired location.
    j2ee server started, Deploytool is started.
    Then I can successfully create new application (.ear file)
    Then I go for creating new enterprise bean. I get same application name in Drop down list named "Enterprise Bean will go in".
    Then I can add home, remote and ejb class file to create jar ("Add" under "Contents" ).
    When I say ok after adding these 3 files, I am getting error - "You must add the Class files for this enterprise bean".
    In the deploytool console, getting error - "java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\2sdkee1.2\mahesh\ConverterEJB.class (The system cannot find the path specified) "
    Can you please help me where to configure the path?
    Can u please help?
    Please send your answer to - [email protected]
    Cheers!

    the path really begins with '2', without a 'j', ie not c:\j2sdkee1.2\...?

  • For WebLogic 5.1, where should I put my class files for my JavaBeans?

    With JBuilder4, I have built an application with JSP and a few Java Beans (Those JavaBeans are instantiated in those JSP files). There are no EJBs. The package name is called 'onlinetrade'. I have tested the application on JBuilder's web server, it works pretty well.
    Now I am moving this application to WegLogic 5.1. I have encountered a problem with WebLogic 5.1
    and do not know where I should place my JavaBean class files --
    Originally, the JSP files for my application are in package path-- ..onlinetrade\jsp
    and the class files for my beans are in the package path -- ..onlinetrade\jsp\bean\*.class
    Now, with WebLogic 5.1,
    1) I have put my JSP files in
    C:\weblogic\myserver\public_html\onlinetrade\jsp
    2) I have created subdirectory and put my bean class files in
    C:\weblogic\myserver\classfiles\onlinetrade\jsp\bean
    When I started weblogic and the first page - login.jsp page can be up and accessed. But when I login and forward to another JSP page called 'controller.jsp', where a bean is instantiated, I got the following error
    Compilation of 'C:\weblogic\myserver\classfiles\jsp_servlet\_onlinetrade\_jsp\__controller.java' failed:
    C:\weblogic\myserver\classfiles\jsp_servlet\_onlinetrade\_jsp\__controller.java:210: cannot access jsp_servlet._onlinetrade._jsp.registerBean
    probably occurred due to an error in /onlinetrade/jsp/controller.jsp line 53:
    registerBean registerBeanInstance = new registerBean();
    I know the javac is working, and a java file is created upon the JSP page, but the problem is -- the bean class files cannot be found!!!
    Where should I create the package path and put my bean class file so that my JSP pages can pick them up?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

    I have mine in WEB-INF/classes

    This tells my sod all what's actually wrong - I've tried renaming the jsp, I've tried renaming and recompiling the bean but that didn't help either (yes I redirected towards page to the new bean).
    No-one here has a clue what the hell has gone wrong with this - especially cos I have at least 15 other beans in exactly the same place and they all work fine.
    If you wish I'll post the code of the relevant jsp here.
    Any suggestions?

    most of this is irrelevent but you should be able to find what you need

  • [svn] 791: ASDocs update (trunk) -- added @productVersion tag and some @ see tags to class descriptions for mx.core.windowClasses. StatusBar and TitleBar.

    Revision: 791
    Author: [email protected]
    Date: 2008-03-12 13:11:30 -0700 (Wed, 12 Mar 2008)
    Log Message:
    ASDocs update (trunk) -- added @productVersion tag and some @see tags to class descriptions for mx.core.windowClasses.StatusBar and TitleBar. These fixes have already been made in the published livedocs source.
    Modified Paths:
    flex/sdk/trunk/frameworks/projects/airframework/src/mx/core/windowClasses/StatusBar.as
    flex/sdk/trunk/frameworks/projects/airframework/src/mx/core/windowClasses/TitleBar.as

    solved by myself.
    also if there's port 8084 configured on server properties, jboss start using 8080 (maybe i've done some error while registering jboss, i dunno but i'm a newbye of eclipse). So changing port to 8080 in server properties for jboss solve the problem.

  • Selection of a mobile framework - for enterprise mobility app.

    There have been many plethora of mobility frameworks (e.g Kony, HTML5 based  frameworks) that have same features as Cordova - write your code once and run it on multiple platforms. Some are free,others are not. Having recently implemented enterprise mobility app (integrating with ECC, CRM) using one such framework, there are a certain I would like to consider before choosing a framework:
    a) How easy it to build security into the app (the login module)?
    b) How do I know that the requests for my data is an authenticated source?
    c) How good is the vendor support with plugins, upgrades to SDK?
    d) For frameworks that are free, do vendors really pay attention to issues that you are facing during (very specific to) your implementation.
    e) Scalability of the framework to support the app with newer mobile OSs, mobility sets (Motorola, Micromax, Blackberry), tabs.
    f) All mobile sets have limited memory at most to 2GB (or little more). How will the framework help in viewing huge amount of data that is there in SAP?
    From my experience, I would say it is big pain, implementing a enterprise mobility app with open framework adhering with the go live dates.
    SAP products are more easy to handle. A lot of featues comes inbuilt. Mobile apps comes as pre-packaged apps. One needs to customize it according to it needs. Product support from SAP is remarkable. Implementing and going live with such product becomes automatically easy adhering to the timelines. So is the maintenance. But of course comes the licensing price for SAP.

    Sukanta Rudra,
    I love to work with SAP products and so i m in SAP. Having worked on several other mobile applications before , i can clearly see the ease in development of Enterprise applications using SAP products portfolio.
    Often I have seem blogs in SCN, advocating for frameworks other than that of SAP. No harm
    Please mention the blogs as a reference for more understanding. I can always only see Cordova / appcelerator being the recommended platforms by SAP for cross platforms development.
    SAP Partners with Adobe-Cordova/phonegap , Appcelerator, Sencha (the three big players in cross platform development)
    Developer Announcement: Third Party Tools
    SAP Drives Openness and Choice for Millions of Mobile App Developers
    More over i have worked mostly on all the three for a while and have experienced the ease in development with cordova.
    Also the HWC (Hybrid Web Container ) - the former way for developing hybrid applications on SAP Mobile Platform till 2.x has Cordova/phonegap plugins inbuilt in it. Literally it followed the approch of Cordova and ui framework was of Jquery Mobile .
    But Now with the release of SMP 3.X things are completely under the control of developer. There are no restrictions to use a particular framework for development and developers are free to use their choice for development (SMP 3.x highlights BYOT - Bring Your Own Tools for Developers).
    Adding to above , just would like to mention there are few products mainly focused and developed on cordova technology (KAPSEL plugins, Appbuilder, Fiori Client , River RDE in future integrating Kapsel plugins)
    SMP 3.x is all open for developers , we are free to use any platform as per our requirements and convenience now.
    PLease have a look at these videos on how SMP 3.x strategy stands for
    My experience has been using Kony-SKY framework for developing the mobility apps (not mobile web). SKY plugins has been certified by SAP, to be used for developing mobility applications. (SAP does embrace other vendors). My questions pointed out above, was out of the struggles we had while implementing the project. Many at times, I felt I was reinventing the same tools while integrating into the SAP backends.
    I am not a Kony guy, but will surely look into this and would check if i can help you.But out of my experience with Cordova /HWC/ Kapsel , it was satisfactory.
    I presume you might have used/using SAP's Fiori apps, SAPUI5, mobile architecture and would like to gather some more information very specific to SAP's environment. I have no experience now on delivering apps using SAP's products. Maybe three months from now, I would get deep with 'SAP Fiori UX and SAP Screen Personas'. Maybe you could throw some light on few more queries.
    Yeah , thanks to SAP for Fiori being out of License now and UI5 an Opensource. I have had the opportunity to also work and implement Fiori transnational applications and also develop Custom UI5 applications .
    Note : Personas is really a good product , but on the down side is n't responsive in nature , so might not be a best fit for mobile devices
    How are builds generated for different platforms? (Android uses.apk, Blackberry uses .cod, iPhone uses .ipa)
    I can help you understand this with an Android Phone Gap project example
    Typically Native Android apps are developed using Core Java.
    Initially all the Core libraries of Android and java are loaded with import command
    import android.os.Bundle;
    Now Cordova libraries are added to existing libraries
    import android.os.Bundle;
    import org.apache.cordova.*;
    and Android uses the concept activities and layout for screen navigation and designing.
    and by default any android project should have an activity and layout for launching the application, for which the code looks something similar to this
    setContentView(R.layout.main);
    so , a Relative layout is initially launched as main view.
    As mentioned in the blog in  " How does it actually work section " cordova loads web views instead of the native layouts /activities
    How Does it actually work ?
    Technically the User Interface of a Cordova Application is effectively a WebView that occupies the complete screen and runs in the native Container. So , it is the same web view that is used by the Native  Operating systems. This purely means that only the Native Containers changes according to the OS and internally the web pages remain the same. (Since the browser rendering of webpages are different for each operating systems)
    For       IOS it is UIWebView class
                 Android it is in  android.webkit.webview
                 Windows it is WebViewClass and the similar goes to other OS .
    This line of code is responsible for that
    super.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/www/index.html");
    our developed web applications should reside in the above mentioned location to access as any native web view
    also few other hacks are to be done at
    public class [appname]Activity extends Activity {
    to
    public class [appname] Activity extends DroidGap {
    and to the android manifest file accordingly to get the permissions
    Now internally the android applications works just like any native applications but accessing the web applications files in the web view. and just generates the .apk accordingly to the application.
    Say a query is executed from a mobility app, say the result set is some 1000 rows, how does the data fetch mechanism work. Do you use some delta data fetch mechanism?
    if i were to handle this , would try to filter this out to sections. Lets imagine huge PO s are resulted upon a query, i would try to create some sections/categories for Unreleased/Open/Approved /... and again try to perform some dynamic filter operations on each category selection/ or make use of pagination property to move across the items/records
    Also user would not be interested to scroll and search for his item from a huge collection of items.
    More over for handling of huge records Native approach is preferred to Hybrid/mobile web.
    When a mobility connection snaps while the user is using the app, does the app stop immediately? Or rather how is user informed about non availability of the network connection?
    Lets assume two cases here
    1) Complete Online application
    2) Online Offline Application
    1) If user is trying to access the data from the application , since this being an online application , a proper network connectivity id to be checked properly before making any request .
    for phone gap/cordova , Network Object helps us to check if network connectivity is available to make any request. else throw an alert to check the connectivity/ turn on the connectivity.
    Similarly a Connectivity manager API exists for Android . Here is an example. Same would apply for other OS also.
    2) For online - offline application . user wouldn't be able to read records from back end , but can perform other necessary operations on the device, and once the device gets connected to network, can sync with the back end . An alert should be thrown to inform the user about the loss in network connectivity and the limitations in accessing the data .
    Build/release mechanism and subsequent tracking for mobility apps for periodic release of apps  - say there would regular fixes to bugs, upgrades to framework SDK, device OSs might get upgraded - Is there a tool for tracking all these, etc
    Yes. MDM tools are perfect fit for these. Afaria and Mocana are doing well now.
    And, anything that you would like to share, related to SAPs environment, that makes implementation easier.
    SAP Mobility is really booming and will grow , dominate in enterprise mobility in future.
    For our understanding:
    Let us know for more.

  • Sorting is wrong with Entity Framework for oracle

    Hi,
    I've downloaded the Entity Framework for Oracle beta and I found a bug. It's easy to repro:
    - Create a model with a simple table
    - Create a dynamic data web app
    - display the content of your table and try to sort
    -> the sql generated is wrong and only sorts on the currently displayed rows and not the entire data.
    Did anyone else notice that?
    Edited by: lnu on 14 févr. 2011 05:51

    Before ODP.NET beta with EF was available I was working with OracleEFProvider from CodePlex (sample alpha version but works with VS2010).
    I found the same issue there. Since I had a source code I managed to find the solution.
    In class which implemented the base class DbExpressionVisitor there was a method: public override ISqlFragment Visit(DbSkipExpression e)
    I had to add sort clause AFTER visiting the expression (which was done too early in previous code).
    As the main idea of DbExpressionVisitor should be the same in case of Oracle provider, this can be the reason of improper sorting in queries with paging.

  • Class reload for split directory structure

    I have tried to use the split directory structure in WL 8.1. I have a enterprise
    application with 2 EJB modules and 2 WEB modules. I have tried to change one session
    bean by just adding a logging statement and then use wlcompile to compile it.
    Do I necessary call wldeploy to redeploy it? Or, will WebLogic automatically reload
    the class file? Calling redeploy is so slow to me (about 3 minutes). Thus I want
    to check if WL can just reload the class automatically.

    Or, will WebLogic automatically reload the class file? No, by default it load the EJB in the application classloader, and
    everytning in the classloader must change for it to be visible.
    Calling redeploy is so slow to me (about 3 minutes). Thus I want
    to check if WL can just reload the class automatically.There is a bit of an advanced way in WLS 8.1 to get this to work.
    In your weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, you need to set
    <enable-bean-class-redeploy>True</enable-bean-class-redeploy>
    This tells WLS to load the bean impl class in a sub classloader
    then in weblogic.Deployer you have to specify the bean class that changed.
    weblogic.Deployer -name myapp -redeploy myEJB/com/foo/MyEJB.class
    That works as long as you only make changes to the bean class itself.

  • Is there a Java utility class to help with data management in a desktop UI?

    Is there a Java utility class to help with data management in a desktop UI?
    I am writing a UI to configure a network device that will be connected to the serial port of the computer while it is being configured. There is no web server or database for my application. The UI has a large number of fields (50+) spread across 16 tabs. I will write the UI in Java FX. It should run inside the browser when launched, and issue commands to the network device through the serial port. A UI has several input fields spread across tabs and one single Submit button. If a field is edited, and the submit button clicked, it issues a command and sends the new datum to the device, retrieves current value and any errors. so if input field has bad data, it is indicated for example, the field has a red border.
    Is there a standard design pattern or Java utility class to accomplish the frequently encountered, 'generic' parts of this scenario? lazy loading, submitting only what fields changed, displaying what fields have errors etc. (I dont want to reinvent the wheel if it is already there). Otherwise I can write such a class and share it back here if it is useful.
    someone recommended JGoodies Bindings for Swing - will this work well and in FX?

    Many thanks for the reply.
    In the servlet create an Arraylist and in th efor
    loop put the insances of the csqabean in this
    ArrayList. Exit the for loop and then add the
    ArrayList as an attribute to the session.I am making the use of Vector and did the same thing as u mentioned.I am using scriplets...
    >
    In the jsp retrieve the array list from the session
    and in a for loop step through the ArrayList
    retrieving each CourseSectionQABean and displaying.
    You can do this in a scriptlet but should also check
    out the jstl tags.I am able to remove this problem.Thanks again for the suggestion.

  • How to convert a .jsp to a .java/.class file for use in peoplesoft

    Hi java/jsp experts,
    I want to convert a .jsp to a .java/.class file. is there a tool available, please let me know if you have any pointers....
    or can i do it manually:
    these are a few lines that the .jsp contains, and i would like to translate this to be in .java/.class format:
    <%@ page import="sun.misc.BASE64Encoder, javax.crypto., javax.crypto.spec."%>
    <%@ page import="java.util.StringTokenizer" %>
    <%@ page import="java.util.Map" %>
    <%!
    sb.append("<input type=\"hidden\" name=\"orderPage_serialNumber\" value=\"");
    sb.append(serialNumber);
    sb.append("\">\n");
    return sb.toString();
    %>
    how can i translate the above import statements and html elements from jsp to java, please let me know.
    Once i have the .java file created from the .jsp, I will compile .java to create the .class file and invoke the .class in peoplecode by using java apis available in peopletools.
    Thanks in advance.

    Is there a way convert a binary .exe file( compiled by
    another compiler) into Java .class/.jar file ? Anyone
    know of a free program that can do this?It's not possible. There are many decompilers and disassemblers for Java but nothing will take you from ANY binary to Java source. It would be the end of computing as we know it and the beginning of a new era -:)

  • Is there a solution in Apple framework that offers NAS RAID DLNA?

    Hello forum,
    I think the requirement of NAS with RAID and additionally DLNA is slowly belcoming quite common these days.
    Apple seems to have taken a step in the right direction with Time Capsule but without RAID it only reaches halfway though.
    In addition, there is no support for DLNA certified TV either - (Time Capsule needs DLNA certification)
    I have spent only limited time within Apple software and OS so whereas my understanding is limited but I appreciate that most of the times Apple products work reliably and deliver.
    This is the main motivation behind this question - I am exploring the opportunity to stay within Apple framework for NAS etc. against Synology and the likes.
    Please share your thoughts on whether below possible solution to RAID issue will work or not:
    a) Buy a 2TB Time Capsule.
    b) Buy Western Digital 4TB Red and External HDD enclosure from eBay or something.
    c) Connect it to 2TB Time Capsule via the USB port available.
    d) Configure Time Machine to take a Backup on Time Capsule.
    e) Question 1 - Can Time Machine have 2 separate schedules - i.e; create backups at 2 separate locations?
    This way it could maintain 2 bkps - 1 on Time Machine and the other on 4TB Red.
    f) Question 2 - No idea about how to get the streaming / DLNA side of things to work - Can Apple TV read photos out of iPhoto database/ movies etc.. sitting on Time Capsule / 4TB Red?
    thanks
    Gaurav

    Thank you Eric.
    Re question 2 - There are DLNA server softwares available that can be installed on my MBPR - these would be compatible with iTunes / iPhoto (atleast they seem to claim so).
    Overall this fits the equation for me.

  • What is the Popup class used for

    I always thought that a Popup should have some basic functionality, such as the pupup should close when:
    a) the escape key is pressed
    b) the popup loses focus
    The popup class provides none of the above functionality and in     fact seems to require some obscure code to
    even get the keyboard focus to work properly.
    Using a JWindow seems to provide the same functionality as a Popup.
    JPopupMenu seems to support both of the above requirements.
    Run the following program:
    a) click on each of the buttons
    b) click on an empty part of the frame
    It appears to me that whenever you need a "popup" you should use a JPopupMenu.
    Is the Popup class good for anything? Does it provide any functionality that I am not aware of?

              frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
              frame.setSize(500, 200);
              frame.setLocationRelativeTo( null );
              frame.show();
    }

    you'd use Popup like JPopupMenu does, via a PopupFactoryYes you can get the Popu from the PopupFactory, but I think you are missing the point of my question. Popup has two methods, hide/show. It provides no other funtionality. I must write code to handle the escapce key and close the popup when it loses focus.
    When I use a JPopupMenu and add a component to the menu, it appears to add some listeners to the component to handle the escape key and loss of focus.
    I think it's safe to say that you're right when you say that it's preferable to use
    JPopupMenu (my experience as well).That was my conclusion, but I was just wondering it I was missing anything.
    It turns out that there are used in tooltips which, by essence, don't need any
    input from the user (whether keyboard or mouse) I guess thats what I was missing, only use a Popup in tooltip type situations.

  • Difference between narrow() method usage and simple class cast for EJB

    Hi,
    I have a very simple question:
    what is the difference between PortableRemoteObject.narrow(fromObj,
    toClass) method usage and simple class cast for EJB.
    For example,
    1)
    EJBObject ejbObj;
    // somewhere in the code the home.create() called for bean ...
    ABean a = (ABean)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ejbObj,ABean.class);
    OR
    2)
    EJBObject bean;
    // somewhere in the code the home.create() called for bean ...
    ABean a = (ABean)ejbObj;
    Which one is better?
    P.S. I'm working with WL 6.1 sp2
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Orly

    not have sufficient type information available to do a simple case.
    P.S. I'm working with WL 6.1 sp2 You should always use PRO.narrow()

  • Is the "Device Class Definition for Physical Interface Devices" specification implemented in Windows?

    Can I assume that Windows will be able to handle my physical interface device if I follow the "Device Class Definition for Physical Interface Devices" specification while writing the firmware?
    I'm trying to develop a device which handles rumble output from applications such as games. Applications would include e.g. racing games or simulators. I'm hesitant to just clone Xbox 360 Gamepad or Sidewinder USB reports. I'd like to correctly declare my
    device as something on its own while still making use of already implemented OS-specific drivers. The purpose of the mentioned specification is exactly that as far as I can tell. I wasn't able to find concrete information about its level of support though.
    The "USB device class drivers included in Windows" page (sorry I'm not allowed to post links yet..) seems to link to WinUSB which I'm not sure what to do with.

    Thanks for your response. Well if everything was implemented at that time and it's still available it should be fine since the specification document's last version is dated 1999. I was just hoping there would be any form of documentation whether it's
    supported and by which degree so I don't go through the trouble of figuring out how the firmware should be written according to the specification just to find out there is no OS driver implementation for it which would render my work more or less useless.
    So I suppose I'm forced to go the trial and error path?
