  • Compare Portal configuration...Please guide

    Hello All,
I need to compare Portal configuration between portal dev and qas servers.
    Have extracted the following configs:
    1. KM
    2. PCD
    3. J2EE
    Questions:
-> KM - Following blogs KM transports: Part II & KM transports: Part III, the KM export file is generated with ConfigCM extension. I did try changing the extension from ConfigCM to ConfigfArchieve but I an unable to open the file either way.
    Any guidance on this please.
-> PCD - Have exported entire PCD contents into this .epa file. How do I open this file?
    Awaiting Reply.
    Thanks,
    Ritu

The EPA file is a WinRAR/ZIP file.
Comparing configurations is non-trivial, and you will have some challenges! There are often SIDs and instance numbers scattered through the config..

  • What is BDI or BDS spelled out? Jabber for Mac 9.2(1) Installation and Configuration Guide

I’m spending the day catching up on Jabber/IM&P release notes across the server/clients.
So I’m used to EDI and UDS, but we have a new acronym in the Jabber for Mac 9.2(1) Installation and Configuration Guide called BDI and BDS. However they don’t define what BDI stands for other than BDI is LDAP for non-windows
Clients and suggests it should be used for Jabber for Mac.
What is BDI or BDS spelled out? Something directory integration, but what is the B ?
Then to add to the mix they reference BDS which sounds like the old UDS (is UDS changing to BDS?)
How can Jabber get any more confusing…
I also noted in the  Jabber Video for iPad 9.3.4 release notes that Apple is removing the Always Connect option in the near future. Manually launching Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client before making a call. This is going to upset some customers who like how Lync uses https and just works from anywhere with enhanced directory integration…

Basic Directory Integration. It's not new, we had it in the Windows clients as far back as CUPC. The distinction got introduced when EDI was introduced, relying on Windows ADSI APIs instead of the client making a native LDAP bind.
To my knowledge BDI/BDS are the same thing; I'm guessing S is 'service'. UDS remains unchanged.
I also noted in the  Jabber Video for iPad 9.3.4 release notes that Apple is removing the Always Connect option in the near future.
Well, they lost a patent infringement lawsuit and chose to change the functionality instead of pay the troll. That's not Jabber's fault. Collaboration Edge will be the way to avoid this in the near future.

  • Configuring "Manage Out" Server 2012 DirectAccess IP-HTTPS

Hoping someone with hands on experience configuring Manage Out functionality can answer a few questions for me?
We have built a Server 2012 VM and deployed DirectAccess successfully.  Have tested with both Win7 and Win8 clients successfully.  After some initial issues with DNS were addressed with a Microsoft hotfix, it seems to be running stable.
I want to configure Manage Out capabilities, so that I can remotely help the DA clients with software installs and similar.  I've read up on as many blog entries as I can find, but still finding it a bit mystifying.
We are using IP-HTTPS connectivity.  As best I can tell, we are not using Teredo or ISATAP.  The DA server is dual-NIC and is configured behind an Edge device (NIC #1 is DMZ and receives NAT'd traffic from external IPv4 address on firewall, NIC
#2 is internal LAN).  Our internal networks are IPv4 only (no IPv6 at all); therefore DNSv4 and DHCPv4 internally).
Am hoping that somewhere there might be a step-by-step configuration guide to match our scenario.  Alternatively, if someone can recommend a Local (i.e. Melbourne, Australia) consultant who knows this stuff backwards, I'd consider paying for that.

OKay, so finally I am in a position to share some information ... it has taken me about 6 months of off-and-on (mostly "off") activity to get things working.
We engaged a third-party company to do the initial installation of Direct Access.  This got us 90% of the way to where we needed to go.
The configuration of Manage Out was eventually achieved, but we did take some further expert advice, because I didn't want to change anything without first understanding What was being changed and Why it needed to be changed.  So I had to be educated
quite a bit about IPv6, IP-HTTPS and ISATAP.
We ended up disabling all IPv6 on the clients EXCEPT for the IP-HTTPS protocol.  This was done via a GPO.
I ran into some problems with IPv6 and ISATAP initially when configuring our IT PCs to be able to "manage out" to the DA clients.  We went with a non-standard name for the ISATAP Router (we called ours ISATAP-DirectAccess) and pointed this in DNS to
the internal IPv4 address of the DA server.  This was enforced via a GPO.  However our PCs did not get IPv6 addresses on their ISATAP adapters.  This was eventually resolved by changing some settings on the ISATAP adapter for the Internal NIC
on the DA server.  The settings were:  Forwarding=Enabled and also Advertising=Enabled
After that the IT PCs were getting ISATAP addresses fine, but some of the DA Clients were not registering themselves with an IPv6 address in our Internal DNS.  This was eventually resolved when we discovered that some of the DA Clients' DNS records
had 'bad' security permissions on them.  Once we fixed those permissions we found the DA Clients would register an IPv6 address when operating in Direct Access mode (and would remove their old IPv4 address) and would register an IPv6 address when connected
internally (and would remove their unwanted IPv6 address).
There was also a hitch with getting Windows Remote Assistance working with the DA clients.  This required a Hotfix from Microsoft to get it working properly.
Setting the Firewall rules for the DA clients with Edge Traversal enabled was the easiest part of the process frankly.  The most difficult part was troubleshooting the problems with DNS registration and the problems with getting selected internal PCs
to get a valid ISATAP adapter address from the DA server.

Here is how you configure your UWL with GP:
    1. Login as an administrator into your Enterprise Portal and navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration
    2. Click on Universal Worklist Administration in the Universal Worklist and Workflow folder under Detailed Navigation
    3. Click on the New button to create a new UWL System.
    4. Provide a System Alias of your choice, and choose the Connector Type as GuidedProceduresConnector and click on Save
    5. Initiate your GP Process and you should see it in the UWL of your processor: login as the processor and navigate to Home -> Work
I do not recall making any changes to any web services.
    Cheers-

  • Configuration Guide for Java -Addon in BI

    Hi
We have upgraded BW 3.1c to BI 700 recently. After upgrade to BI, we have installed Java Add-on.
Our team is getting communication errors in RFC-based ABAP to Java and vice versa. As per oss note 888687 (page 5) there should be some value under following setting in visual admin:
    J2EE_SID > Server>Services-->JCO RFC Provider.
Seem to me it is configuration related step that we are missing as there is no value defined in JCO RFC provider.
I'm looking for configuration guide after the java add-on to fix some of our RFC problem or solution to our problem.
    Regards
    Amar

    Hi
Thanks for your reply and sorry for delay. As per oss note 917950, i'm trying to solve the problems and understand the concept of BI.
    1.  i executed "RSPOR_SETUP" and it mentioned the different ABAP and Java support package.
    ABAP Support Package:                  12
    Java Support Package:                   9
    2.   With the help of template installer (oss note 917950), i'm able to fix the problem of JCO RFC Provider.
    3.    I executed "RS_template_maintain_70" as per oss note 917950 to test standard web template in BI (both direction). It seem to be working fine.
    4.    Again, i run "BI diagnostics and support desk tool". I got the following message:
"Your system is not configured correctly. BEx Web, BEx Web Application Designer, BEx Report Designer and BEx Broadcaster will not work
properly unless you adapt your configuration".
    5.       As per oss note 917950 (page 17), i have to set the permission of System object. First i have to logon to portal and then choose the  iview system administartion /permission/ portal permission.
I don't understand this setps. Logon to portal mean logon to "http:/dbcibsn:54300/nwa"? If this is true, i'm not able to see the iview system administration ..
    How to get it?
    Regards
    Amar

  • 9iAS 1.0.2.2/Portal 3.0.9 - Installation Error at "Portal Configuration Assistant"

I was installing the iAS1.0.2.2 and at the Portal Configuration Assistant, at the 23% I received the following error:
"An unexpected error ocurred during the Install Process. Check the install.log ....."
(FYI this is the second time I try to install it and in both cases I received the same error at the same point, so I decided to ask for help)
At the end of the Install.log is the following:
    =====================
STEP 7 : Installing WWC layer Components
    INSTALL_ACTION : installWWC(): ..\..\bin\sqlplus portal30/portal30@<DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)HOST=administrator)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=virtual))) @..\..\portal30\admin\plsql\wwc\wwcinst.sql portal30 USERS TEMP wvinswwc.log USERS USERS portal30_NULL portal30_sso portal30_DEMO
ORA-00439: feature not enabled: Function-based indexes
Errors encountered in the Install process. Installation Aborted
    =========================
I noticed during the installation, before the Configuration Assistant (aprox at 97%), the installation opened a DOS session and I could see some errors with some Indexes but I don't know in which Log are registered. maybe it can help to troubleshoot my above problem?
    Operating System: NT4 SP6
    Database: 8.1.7.0 standard edition
    iAS 1.0.2.2 standard edition
    both under the same machine
Let me know if there is any other info I can provide.
    Tks in advance!

There has been some confusion around certification on SE over the past week. I want to clarify the situation.
We discovered an issue with the Portal on SE last week. We inadvertently used function based and bitmapped indexes (EE only features). This issue has been masked to date because the install proceeded normally after the errors were raised. In 3.0.9 we made the install more strict in that it will stop by default if it hits an unexpected error.
On further research, we have determined that these errors have little or no impact on the general functioning of the product and as such are maintaining the position that Portal 3.x is indeed certified on 8.1.7
    Standard Edition.
There is unfortunately a necessary work around to the install issue (which we will rectify as soon as possible). In order to install on SE, you must execute the Oracle Portal Configuration Assistant (OPCA) from
the command line and specify the "verbose" mode (see next post). In this mode, the errors are ignored and the install proceeds appropriately.

    The Oracle9iAS Portal Development Team
