Is there a way to convert a float to a currency format

Is there an object in Java that will format a float into some sort of currency format (string?)? Ideally if I have a float value of 3412.0 is there an easy way to get 3,412.00?
Thanks

Never tested this in production, but here's a start:
import java.text.*;
public class test
public static void main( String[] args )
String pattern = "\u00A4#,###.00";
DecimalFormat df = new DecimalFormat( pattern );
double[] nums = { 1f,
1.0f,
1.2f,
1.23f,
12f,
12.3f,
123.4f,
1234.5f,
1234.56f,
123456789,
123456789.9 };
for( int i = 0; i < nums.length; i++ ) {
System.out.println( nums[ i ] + " -> " + df.format( nums[ i ] ) );
output:
1.0 -> $1.00
1.0 -> $1.00
1.2000000476837158 -> $1.20
1.2300000190734863 -> $1.23
12.0 -> $12.00
12.300000190734863 -> $12.30
123.4000015258789 -> $123.40
1234.5 -> $1,234.50
1234.56005859375 -> $1,234.56
1.23456789E8 -> $123,456,789.00
1.234567899E8 -> $123,456,789.90

  • Is there a way to convert the Itnues media to PSP format?

    As the Title states, I want to know if theres a way to put Itunes movies and videos into Mp4 format for PSP videos. I know this will probably be looked down upon in the Apple community. But I just don't have an Ipod.

    An iTunes purchased M4V movie is actually the protected MP4 format. Discussing how to remove this protection is prohibited here...Apple owns this forum.

  • Is there a way to convert files incompatible with Apple OS to some format that will be viewable in Finder?

    I do a lot of machine embroidery. In moving from a PC to Mac, I've learned that none of my current embroidery software is compaitible with Apple OS. I'm happy to maintain those programs on a Windows laptop, but would really like to be able to view my designs on the Mac Mini. The files are *.pes. Is there any way to convert them to a Mac compatible format?

    NeedleWorks says it reads .pes files, Direct download...

  • Any way to convert PDF document in to Tiff format with inbuilt IBR features

    Is there any way to convert PDF document in to Tiff format with inbuilt IBR features?
    In our Webcenter Portal app, we create the PDF document with the content of ADF pages and check it in UCM using RIDC api.
    There will some batch job which will retrieve the documents from UCM and send them to client internal Document management system. The client / batch job will only process TIFF files. So we need a way to convert the PDF into TIFF. We are okie to have both PDF and TIFF stored in UCM.
    When i have done research, i could only see components like PDFexport or TIFFConverter which only converts the other formats into PDF. But i am expecting a reverse conversion. Is it possible ? Thanks

    - Problem: I have 1400 e-mails with attachments that need to be converted into pdf and the attachments cannot be embeded.
    System: PC Windows 7 using Acrobat X Prof. - Thank you!

    Hi ,
    There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
    However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
    I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
    Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .

  • I would like to read a text file in which the decimal numbers are using dots instead of commas. Is there a way of converting this in labVIEW, or how can I get the program to enterpret the figures in the correct way?

    The program doest enterpret my figures from the text file in the correct way since the numbers contain dots instead of commas. Is there a way to fix this in labVIEW, or do I have to change the files before reading them in the program? Thanks beforehend!

    You must go in the labview option menu, you can select 'use the local
    separator' in the front side submenu (LV6i).
    If you use the "From Exponential/Fract/Eng" vi, you are able to select this
    opton (with a boolean) without changing the labview parameters.

  • Is there a way to convert DVD-VR movie into DVD-video to import in IMovie?

    My husband shot 6 hours of video on a Sony DCR-DVD106E Handycam abroad, and had that burned on a dvd.
    Unfortunely he shot this material with the camera in DVD-VR mode,and and now it's impossible to import and edit in IMovie. ☹ I discovered already that the camera should have been in Video-mode.
    We do really need parts of the video for our work...........
    Is there a way to convert the dvd so that it can be imported one way or another?

    .. no, he.. ooh, it's me! .. can not.
    that advice is for 'standard' videoDVD (=VIDEO_TS, vobs ifos, bups, walla walla...)
    dvd_VR is a special format of dvd-corders..
    I'm afraid, you have to take the long road via some converter box (Canopus, EyeTV, ...)

  • I cannot access AppleWorks 6, is there a way to convert them?

    I just installed Mavericks and since I cannot access AppleWorks 6, is there a way to convert them?
    I know AppleWorks 6 is old, but I have some documents that I need.
    My windows laptop asks what I want to convert files into and I'm hoping there is something I can do?
    Please help

    1.  Read Roger Wilmut's excellent series of articles, Abandoning Appleworks:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/aw/page1.html
    2.  If you need to run Appleworks 6 to export some data (for example a database, which cannot be opened by any other program):
    a)  (Assuming your Mac will still boot into Snow Leopard, since you said you recently "upgraded to Mavericks"), Partition your hard drive (or add an external hard drive) and install Snow Leopard (and the optional Rosetta) into it and use the "dual-boot" method to boot into Snow Leopard and run Appleworks 6; or
    b)  Install Snow Leopard Server into Parallels and run Appleworks 6 concurrently with Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks:

  • Is there a way to convert .wmv's to .gif's with Photoshop Elements 10?

    Is there a way to convert .wmv's to .gif's with Photoshop Elements 10?  If not, will an up upgrade to version 12 include something that will do this?

    I have done it manually, and it takes a long time just for 1 patch.
    Just the sample editing and naming takes hours!
    Autosampler automates this process.
    You can define how many velocity levels you need.
    If a midi CC changes the sound in an interesting way, you can have Autosampler send the controller in increments and sample that.
    At the end of it, you end up with a finished EXS instrument.

  • Is there a way to convert the wireframes created in InDesign to a clickable prototype?

    I have created wireframes in InDesign and trying to convert to a clickable and working prototype. Is there a way to convert the wireframes created in InDesign to a working prototype as HTML or clickable PDF?

    Yes, there are ways (read: you can find ways) to accomplish that, but it isn't really an intended workflow, so nothing about it is "automatic." In the time it will take to make a functional wireframe prototype with InDesign, you could be building the actual site. The features you need for rapid prototyping are found in Fireworks.

  • Is there a way to convert an interactive PDF of photos into a file that plays like a video?

    I have a PDF with music created through InDesign, but Acrobat only allows the pages to self-turn if played in full view mode.  This cannot work on a website. So, is there a way to convert this PDF into a "video" such that the pages turn automatically, like what Apple Iphoto does when you create an album or slideshow or book - it allows for a "video" of the imags to be created, with backdrop of music?

    No - you have to have the source to compile to w32 or the equivalent Mac auto-downloadable package. Try contacting the author.
