Is there no WEB-BASED way to access AND MODIFY an iCal calendar.

I greatly appreciate any suggestions. I want for me, my wife and my kids to access AND MODIFY our iCal calendar from the web. For us, it is just shy of meaningless if we can only view the calendar online while we are away from the house. Is this possible?
Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I looked at the site but am not sure my sub-average hacking skills will allow me to do this. In a sense, I think you found the answer to my question; which is 'no.' I just think it is asinine that (1) you can't get to your iCal calendar through your paid .mac account, and that (2) you can't edit your calendar through the web. But again, I do appreciate the link and your time.

  • Is there a web based (or iDisk) iTunes for allowing viewing of video files?

    Is there a web based (or iDisk) iTunes type of program for allowing viewing of video files?
    I would love to have this possibility to just drop all myhundreds of "musical ideas" movies in a folder/playlist like iTunes interface and have them available for viewing web based for musical co-writers & collaborators.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    iTunes doesn't do Internet broadcast. I suggest you use iMovie to compress your files into and Internet file format. You can then use mobile me or YouTube to show your material over the Internet.
    If you want to maintain more control over the material, you may want to set up a computer to become a server. That way you can give access codes only to persons you want to see the material.
    I would look into mobile me if I was you. It sounds like you only need a small Internet presence to do what you want to do. And I think MobileMe would give you all the tools you need to distribute your material to those you want to see it. And it would do it at a very low cost.
    Good luck,

  • Is there a web based tech support?

    Is there a web based tech support, or is the disscussion forum it? I need a tech to tell me why there is static in my burned itunes cds.I don't think I am the only one and we are all stumped.

    "*Is there a web based tech support, or is the disscussion forum it?*", asked the user in the support forums.
    *why there is static in my burned itunes cds*
    Set your burn speed to a lower setting (iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Burning).
    Also, make sure you CD/DVD burner firmware is up to date.

  • Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?

    Hi, Im not a frequent forum poster, as most of my questions can be found already answered on them!
    This is a question Ive had for a long time and it amazes me that no-one else seems to ask it. I check at each OS upgrade but its never there...
    Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?
    I was able to do this years ago in MS Outlook, and utilized it all the time when I needed to push things back, now I have to open the event and select an new date in the drop-down calendar for each & every event I want to move to a new month at the end of the month.
    If its definitely not possible, how to you ask apple to consider including it - it doesnt seem like a particularly difficult task.
    Thankyou
    Andrew.

    Andrew,
    Is there any way of dragging and dropping an iCal event showing in week view across to a date in the left sidebar monthly calendar?
    No, but you can use cut/paste. Cut (⌘X) the event, then click on the week where you want to move the event, and Paste (⌘V).
    If you have a suggestion for Apple to change that method use: Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback.

    Just adding to what CSound has said.
    Pages and Numbers will change Word and Excel documents when they open and close them.
    Sometimes the change is subtle and sometimes not. With the latest versions of Pages and Numbers, more likely not.
    So don't think you are going to work with MsOffice files without problems. You will always have something not right and in some cases really annoyingly not right. Like having all the text from Pages appear bold in MsWord, or page breaks in the wrong place or some objects and graphics not appearing in one or the other.
    If working between different Operating Systems and MsOffice files, I also recommend LibreOffice. It opens and saves nearly all file formats. Unfortunately not .pages or numbers. Yet. The folks at LibreOffice are busy adding to it all the time, and making sure it works in all Operating systems, Mac, Windows and Linux and they are promising iOS as well soon.

    What iCloud content are you trying to access that is not already on the iPad? Maybe I am misunderstanding your statement, but all of your iCloud content is already on the iPad. Why do you need to access your iCloud.com account on the web?

    Dear Web Designers,
    Is there any open source, free, php software packages out there (or web products - a doc com tool) that allows a web designer freelancer (like me) who has their own business to take in client requests or new project request descriptions and requests from anyone and allow me to respond back with an answer, a timeline, status on the project etc etc. (besides just a standard contact us form - is there any project managment tool for web designers that works well for that?)

    Sure.  There are lots & lots of them.  It depends on your coding skills, which scripts and databases your server supports, and how many bells & whistles you want.

  • Accessing and modifying an Oracle DB via OraclePortal

    Hello, I hope I am not bothering you too much with these, maybe, silly questions.
    My task is to generate an "Applikation" which access an Database (Oracle) reading, writinge Data (also inserting new Data). There are quite a few Tables to show and modify.
    First I thought I use Oracle Forms, but this was ruled out, because it sends Java Applets to the user, and this is currently not an option. Now I found that there is also a Form feature in the Oracle Portal, which seems to be able to access the database (with nice stylable views).
    Now my question: Which Products are needed to do this? (Only the Oracle Database, and Oracle Portal?). How does the User's WebBrowser get the form? As Java Applet or HTML text? Are there any Performance considuration because of Portal on the server? Are there maybe some experience somehow, for building such a Database "Application" with Oracle Portal?
    Thank you in advance!
    Wolfgang Henickl

    You need the Oracle JDBC driver on the Tomcat machine. If you are going to use the OCI driver (rather than the thin driver) you also need the Oracle client pieces installed.
    The easiest way to use the drivers within Tomcat is to put the jar file in you application's WEB-INF/lib directory. If you are using Tomcat 4, there have been reports that it won't find the file with a .zip extension. Rename classes12.zip to classes12.jar; you do not have to unzip/rejar the contents.

  • [10g] Best way to populate and update multiple workday calendars?

    I would like to create multiple workday calendars, and be able to update them as needed. Each workday calendar would be for at most 5 years (right now), although it is possible that at some point in the future, I might want to extend that.
    A workday calendar can apply to a single resource or a group of resources. Each individual is part of a resource group. What I'm thinking is that if an individual resource has an associated workday calendar, that calendar gets used, but if it doesn't, it uses the calendar of it's resource group, and if the group doesn't have one, the default calendar gets used. Theoretically, each resource could have its own workday calendar, and there would be probably 500 resources at most. In practice, many resources will have the same or similar workday calendars.
    Each calendar will be based on one of 3 standards: all calendars days are work days, all days but weekends are workdays, or all days except weekends and holidays are workdays. (Weeks start on Sunday, and Saturday and Sunday are weekends.) The standard calendar would then be modified to create each unique calendar as needed. For example, if a resource was an employee, their calendar might be the standard of not working weekends or holidays, but could also include a one week vacation in February and a one week vacation July. I'm not sure what the best approach is for defining a calendar in the first place and then being able to update it as an employee decides on vacations (or whatever other situation might affect workdays).
    Furthermore, I'd really like to be able to incorporate work hours, which could vary by day, though would likely be fairly standard. I don't know if this information belongs in the workday table, or as something separate to be combined with the workday table.
    My ultimate purpose in doing all of this is to try to schedule a very large project amongst many resources.
    Here is some sample data illustrating where I'm at so far:

    cal_date - the actual calendar date
    cal_year - the actual calendar year for the given calendar date
    work_day - workday in that work year (resets each year, starting at 1, is 0 if that calendar date is not a work day)
    work_date - if a work day, the calendar date, if not, the calendar date of the last work day (or in the first week of the calendar, the next work day)
    work_week - work week of the work date (numbered starting at 1 , reset each year at the first Sunday of the year, before first Sunday will have last week of previous year, and the first year of the calendar will have all days prior to Sunday included in the first week, so the first week of a calendar could be more than 7 days)

    Also, I don't know if it would make more sense to just somehow store the days each resource/group doesn't work, and generate a workday calendar on the fly as needed, rather than trying to store possibly thousands of dates in the database??

    Hi,
    Interesting problem!
    I'm not sure exactly what you want, however. Are you looking for a way to answer questions such as "For resource A001, what are the first 6 work days on or after January 4, 2010?" or "How many work days does resource A001 have between January 4 and January 12, 2010?" Post a few examples of the questions you might ask, and the results you would want, given the sample data you posted.

That is, given that the employee normally abides by the "no weekends or holidays" schedule, just enter 5 rows for that particular employee to mark the 5 work days he'll miss in February. If the emplyoee is going to work Saturdays in June (in addition to his regular schedule), then enter one row for each Saturday in June.

    Perhaps you could have a table like this, that had one row per day:

    INSERT INTO days (a_date, day_type) VALUES (DATE '2010-01-02', 1) /* Saturday */;
    INSERT INTO days (a_date, day_type) VALUES (DATE '2010-01-03', 1) /* Sunday */;
    INSERT INTO days (a_date, day_type) VALUES (DATE '2010-01-04', 3) /* Monday - back to work */;
    ...Another table (I'll call it work_sched) shows what resources work when:
    CREATE TABLE  work_sched
    (       p_key          NUMEBR     PRIMARY KEY     -- Arbitrary Unique ID
    ,     group_id         VARCHAR2 (5)          -- Exactly one of the columns group_id or ...
    ,     resource_id      VARCHAR2 (20)          --     ... resource_id will always be NULL
    ,     a_date              DATE
    ,     works_on     NUMBER (1)          -- works when days.day_type >= this value
    ,     remarks          VARCHAR2 (40)
    );To indicate that work_group 'L' normally works on type 3 days only (that is, weekends or holidays):
    INSERT INTO work_sched (group_id, a_date, works_on) VALUES ('L', NULL, 3);(Let's assume that p_key is populated by a trigger.)
    The NULL in the a_date column indicates that this applies to all days, unless overridden by another row in the work_sched table. Instead of NULL, mabe some impossible date (such as Jan. 1, 1900) would be more convenient to indicate defaults.
    Exceptions to this schedule would be indicated by other rows in work_sched. For example, if '12345' is the employee who's on vacation for a week in February:
    INSERT INTO work_sched (resource_id, a_date, works_on, remarks) VALUES ('12345', DATE '2010-02-08', 4, 'Vacation');
    INSERT INTO work_sched (resource_id, a_date, works_on, remarks) VALUES ('12345', DATE '2010-02-09', 4, 'Vacation');
    INSERT INTO work_sched (resource_id, a_date, works_on, remarks) VALUES ('12345', DATE '2010-02-10', 4, 'Vacation');
    INSERT INTO work_sched (resource_id, a_date, works_on, remarks) VALUES ('12345', DATE '2010-02-11', 4, 'Vacation');
    INSERT INTO work_sched (resource_id, a_date, works_on, remarks) VALUES ('12345', DATE '2010-02-12', 4, 'Vacation');And if that same employee works Satudays in June:
    INSERT INTO work_sched (resource_id, a_date, works_on, remarks) VALUES ('12345', DATE '2010-06-05', 1, 'Fiscal year-end crunch');
    INSERT INTO work_sched (resource_id, a_date, works_on, remarks) VALUES ('12345', DATE '2010-06-12', 1, 'Fiscal year-end crunch');
    INSERT INTO work_sched (resource_id, a_date, works_on, remarks) VALUES ('12345', DATE '2010-06-19', 1, 'Fiscal year-end crunch');
    INSERT INTO work_sched (resource_id, a_date, works_on, remarks) VALUES ('12345', DATE '2010-06-26', 1, 'Fiscal year-end crunch');When finding the number of work days, we would join work_sched to days using both conditions:
    ON   work_sched.date           = days.a_date
    AND  work_sched.works_on  <= days.day_type
    cal_id     - refers to calendars table
    cal_date - the actual calendar date
    cal_year - the actual calendar year for the given calendar date
    work_day - workday in that work year (resets each year, starting at 1, is 0 if that calendar date is not a work day)
    work_date - if a work day, the calendar date, if not, the calendar date of the last work day (or in the first week of the calendar, the next work day)
    work_week - work week of the work date (numbered starting at 1 , reset each year at the first Sunday of the year, before first Sunday will have last week of previous year, and the first year of the calendar will have all days prior to Sunday included in the first week, so the first week of a calendar could be more than 7 days)
    work_year - year of the work date
    work_days - shop day of the work date (except in first week of the calendar, before first shop day is 0), starts at 1 (at the beginning of the calendar), cummulative (does not reset each year)
    cal_days - calendar day of the work date, starts at 1 (at the beginning of the calendar), cummulative (does not reset each year)This is a lot of denormalized data. that is, you should be able to easily deduce cal_year from cal_date, but sometimes it is convenient to store denormalized data.
    Assuming the calendar starts on 1/1/2010 (these values are approximately correct--I just made my best guess to provide sample data):

If anyone could even point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

    Also, I don't know if it would make more sense to just somehow store the days each resource/group doesn't work, and generate a workday calendar on the fly as needed, rather than trying to store possibly thousands of dates in the database??That's what I was thinking, too.
    Post some sample data (if it's not what you've already posted), a couple of sample questions, and the exact answers you want from each question given that sample data.

  • Q: How to access and modify xml tags using Java

    I have an xml based document that i need to access and change. For example, the code
    <section id="section1">
    <div>
    <xforms:group id="id1">
    <xforms:label id="label1">
    <l style="font-size:16pt"> something </l>
    </xforms:label>
    </xforms:group>
    </div>
    </section>
    Working with Java I need to access all the tags, select some of them that are relevant to the current device and remade the document. I thought I would read the file character by character identifying the different labels and building a tree, storing in the tree nodes the relevant information as some kind of attributes (for example, in the case of the <xforms:group id="id1"> I would name the node "xforms:group" and create an "id" attribute with value "id1"). I'm not sure if that is the most efficient way of accessing the problem (computational power might be an issue), and would appreciate some help on the subject.
    Thanks,

    this may help you..
    this is a little util i made to help me read/write files.
    using this, you are only one step away from your solutions, you only need to figure out the regex you need to run on the text of the file to make it become what you need it to become.
    though if you use non-standard encoding, you might not want to use this code..

  • There is absolutely NO way to drag and drop newly purchased music from the Purchased list on the phone into my iTunes library?  I'm finding it hard to believe that something so simple cannot be done!

    I like to make MP3 CD's when I have people over, or when my friends have people over so I can just pop them into the CD player and let them play all night without having to worry about changing the CD or anything.  Well, Apple's music is in AAC format, so I have to convert the songs to MP3 files using the converter in iTunes.  So I'll convert them to MP3's and just delete the AAC file so I don't have doubles.  The problem is, the next time I plug the phone into my laptop to transfer new purchases, iTunes thinks that the songs I converted aren't there anymore because the phone has them as AAC files, and iTunes has them as MP3 files, so it doubles the music again...EVERY time!!  It's very frustrating!  So this is why instead of clicking Transfer Purchases, I would like to be able to just drag and drop the songs I want from the Purchased list on the phone into my iTunes library.  I hope I explained this right...lol.  Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like I'm able to do that.  I'm hoping maybe somebody here can help me out and give me some pointers on what to do about this.  Thanks!!

    That stinks!  I can actually do that at my house...I just plug my iPhone right into the wire that's plugged into my receiver in my living room...but some of my friends aren't "technology savvy"...lol...so they just have DVD players and I'll put the CD in there because it will read an MP3 disc.  What's funny, is I have the phone set to "Manually Manage Music", and when I plugged it into the laptop just now, the one song I downloaded last night on the phone, transferred over to the iTunesl library.  That NEVER happens.  And it only transferred the one song...it didn't double the other songs like it ususally does.  I swear, iTunes does what it wants, when it wants sometimes...lol.  Thank you for your quick response.

  • Best way to access and share files...

    I have all my files in a folder currently in Macintosh HD > Shared Items > Folder Name... Should I be changing this and adding the folder into my group folders?

    Which image or file or document or content management system depends highly on your specific local requirements and users, what sort of information you're storing and retrieving and indexing and updating (images, documents, something else) and what your budget is.
    [Here|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contentmanagementsystem] and [here|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Documentmanagementsystem] are general introductions, and with links in various directions.
    Depending on what you're doing, other examples can re-purposed source code control packages include Mercurial (Hg) and git.

  • Surley, there must be a way to change/alter/modify my powerbook G4 to install Mountain Lion.

    Any Ideas on how to install Mountain Lion on a 2007 PowerBook G4?  What modifications if any can be made?  This is such a fine machine I hate to get rid of it.  PS  I am not a geek but I am willing to try something.
    My wife has a new Mac Book Pro and I don't like it.

    The PowerBook G4 is a fine machine. One of Apple's best. I know because I loved mine very much.
    But that means I also know how it feels to move up to an Intel Mac. And the fact is, any Intel Mac is much faster than a PowerBook G4 which is a decade old now. As much as I loved my PowerBook G4, once I used an Intel Mac, the G4 felt slow and awful. Even if you could install Mountain Lion, it relies so much on the power of current technologies, processors, and graphics that it would probably be a horrible experience on a G4 because the G4 would not have the power to run ML at the speed for which it was designed.
    Why is it that you don't like the MacBook Pro? Is it the screen? When I moved from the PowerBook G4 to the MacBook Pro I ordered the anti-glare matte high-resolution screen. This gives me a matte screen with a metal bezel, which I greatly prefer to the glossy screen on shiny black bezel of the standard MacBook Pro. In all other respects (except the black keyboard keys) this MacBook Pro looks and feels like my PowerBook G4, only many times faster.

  • Is there a way to access my old Notes only? I still have my old back up but I cant sync to my phone or it will corrupt it.

    I am using an iphone 5. Recently it malfunctioned and I was told by apple that my old back up had a corruption with it an caused my phone to malfunction. Apple had to redownload the operating system. I was also told that I can not use my old back on my phone I need to delete it and manually download everything. I DID NOT USE ICLOUD. However I do have my old back up still on my mac in itunes. Question below....
    Is there a way to access my old Notes only so I can rewrite them in my phone? I still have my old back up but I cant sync to my phone or it will corrupt it. I just want to access my notes so I can type them back into my notes on my fixed phone.

    you can restore from your backup again just to get the notes. once you've restored from the backup, copy your notes into your icloud notes group or email them to yourself - basically, get them somewhere else so they're not just locally stored on the device. once you've moved your notes elsewhere, restore the device as new again like apple had you do. this will again put a fresh version of the operating system on your phone like it has right now
    there's no other way to access the notes that are in your backup
