Is this 8800's fault?

Hello all,
this morning when I woke up the Mac Pro (2x2.8 GHz, 10 GB RAM, 10.5.2) from the sleep, I got this:
http://www.winono.com/stuff/macpro.jpg
I could only move the mouse pointer, and nothing else: the system was not responding. I could only power off the Mac.
What do you think could be the reason?
Aside this freezing (and some other occasional freezings that sometimes I have, but never with screen corruption), the MacPro works perfectly (no crashes, no kernel panic, ecc.)
Thanks

Yes, I had this issue on an Early 2008 Mac Pro. I spotted it was the nVidia card after having looked up the system.log file (as I described in this thread:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1527436&tstart=0)
So, I suggest you to take note of the time when the Mac hangs up, and then have a look in the system.log file so to check what was the last message.

  • The double click is not working so cannot navigate. Do you think this is a fault or have the setting been changed

I am new to apple and found that the double click on my MacBook air is not working so stuck on one screen and can not move. Is there another way other than double clicking to move between screens? Do you think this is a fault or just that the settings have been changed
    Thank you

It is probably set too fast or too slow. Go to System Preferences from the Apple menu. Click on trackpad and adjust the double-click speed here.

I recently downloaded Firefox because of Shockwave Flash problems with my old browser. Unfortunately all the videos from YouTube channels open as a playlist... • Is this a S60 fault or a N3230 fault?

whenever i swap a memory card over and i put my main card back in, all of the icons get put back in the wrong order. i have moved the items i don't use much into a folder but when the memory card is changed I have to re-arrange everything again! shouldn't the memory card remember the location of the program icons in the menu? this is getting annoying now!
    Nexu 5

to the best of my knowledge yes, when i had a 6680 i often saw this, on my n90 it doesnt happen so much because when you remove the mmc you can close all the apps at once. when you put it back in they rearrange correctly. if you dont remove the card properly they mess up.
the 3230 has the mmc near the battery right? the 6680 and n90 have a little door on the side that activates the closure of any apps in use

  • When is this 'well this is embarrssing' fault going to be fixed

I am sick of always getting this message when I put Firefox on when is it going to be sorted out so that it doesn't happen. I have moved lots of things over to Safari but I have always used Firefox and been happy with it up to now. Please can somebody sort it out.

A possible cause is that you are first closing all Firefox windows and then close the Firefox application.
Some have reported that closing Firefox (Firefox > Quit) while the browser window is still open works for them.
If you choose to disable Session Restore then do not forget to re-enable once this gets fixed because you lose data when a real crash occurs.
    *browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash -> false
*Bug 845681 - Closing all windows and quitting Firefox afterwards leads to about:sessionrestore to be shown on next startup

  • My 2014 Macbook Pro's charger is not secure. It flicked out while closing the laptop and cracked the screen, is this something apple will repair as its the chargers fault?

    I have a 2014 15" Retina display Macbook Pro.
Moving on from my 13" 2012 Macbook Pro the charger on the 2014 model isn't as good and keeps flicking out, and not staying in place.
Unfortunately it flicked out on its own at the wrong point, when I was closing the screen. This resulted in the screen cracking!! Because this is a fault with the Macbook's charger that has cracked my screen, will apple cover it and replace my screen?
If not does anyone know how much screen replacements cost at apple?
I have applecare but screen damage does not cover it.
    Thanks guys!

There's no one from Apple here, so we can't advise you on what it would cost to replace the screen. You should just take the machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP (making an appointment first) and get and estimate for replacement.
I doubt that Apple will fix the screen gratis - they will likely pin it down to a user accident. If you can actually demonstrate that it's the fault of the adapter, you may get a break.
    Good luck,

  • Let's see how this ends.. Verizon's integrity. This could affect YOU. **Important**

Hi all, I'm sorry to have to make my first post about such a subject, but I am a fairly new customer to Verizon and I've uncovered something pretty ugly about the company, I guess we'll see if they make it right or not.
    The situation:
I had my iPhone stolen on the 7th of Feb 2013 (a week or so ago). I wasn't too worried about it, because I'd called to get insurance added shortly after receiving my iPhone 5.
I completed the necessary steps (find myy iPhone app, no luck there so I erased my iphone remotely, to protect my data, reported the theft to police)
Then, I called Verizon to file an insurance claim.. this is where I come to a screeching halt.
The rep I spoke to, tells me that my phone is not insured. This can't be right.. I definitely insured it. I asked the rep to double check. Nope, no insurance. Then I asked them why the insurance wasn't added, and they were able to find the notes from the call I had, when I insured the phone. Problem solved.
After putting me on hold for a while, the rep comes back and tells me "although the phone is technically uninsured, Verizon have agreed to give you a new iphone 5, at a discounted price, so you will pay the same cost that you would have paid with insurance. The cost of the deductible." - please note, when I quote the rep, it may not be verbatim.
    So that's a relief! Great..
The rep puts me on hold again while she goes to order my new phone for me.
After some time she comes back again and tells me "I'm so sorry but the iphone 5 is on back order, so I'm not able to put the order in for you. You would be better off going to your local Verizon store, where they will be able to give you the phone at the promised price"
I was a little worried that the store would not be able to, but when I asked about that, the rep assured me "Don't worry, they will be able to see the notes. I am notating your account that you will be getting your new iPhone 5 at the same price of the deductible."
It's not easy for me to get time to go out to the Verizon store, but I decide to make the trip, it seems worthwhile, to get my replacement phone on the spot.
A couple of days after the phone call with the rep, I found the time to go to the store, but when I got there, they seemed confused and after quite a bit of time, finally refused to give me the iphone 5, telling me that it's not possible and that I need to order it through customer service.
So I call customer service again.
This time I speak to another rep, who tells me that they cannot in fact give me the iphone at the discounted rate. She started from scratch even though I asked her to look at the notes so we didn't have to go through everything again.
She starts to question the other rep's decision, saying that the other rep was in a different part of the company, and "maybe that's how they do things there". I tried to explain to her that while they may have different departments, I expect them to all be "Verizon". As far as the customer is concerned, every part of Verizon should represent the company as a whole, not as this branch of customer service versus another.
By this time I'd become increasingly frustrated,  having been led in circles, told something different by each person I spoke with, and having wasted a substantial amount of time on the phone and driving to the store, talking to the people at the store, back on the phone etc. so I asked to speak to a manager about the issue to try to get it resolved once and for all.
The manager got on the phone and from the start seemed very confrontational. Maybe I got him on a bad day, or maybe he just loved to fight.. either way, things did not go smoothly.
He started out by trying to twist the blame of not having insurance on the phone, back around onto me even though Verizon had previously accepted responsibility.
I asked him how he could justify this being my fault, and his answer blew me away.. "well, you should have looked to make sure the insurance had in fact been activated" So disgusted I was at this point, by the sheer lack of professionalism. But still I kept my composure, and calmly asked him if Verizon's policy was to have it's customers check to make sure they did their job.
He basically latched onto that idea, that it was my responsibility to check it and make sure the insurance had been applied. I could not believe it.. aghast, I just told him that it was irrelevant anyway, because Verizon had already accepted the responsibility and promised me a replacement at the same cost as a deductible.
To that, he replied: "Well, I'm not going to honor that. Our rep could offer you a million dollars. Do you expect me to honor that too?"
Think about this for a second.. Clearly, a customer service representative offering to replace a phone because of an error made by the company she represents is not the same as a rep offering me a million dollars. This guy was just completely adamant on helping me, and it seemed to me it was more about "winning the argument" than anything else for him.
I knew I would not get anywhere with him, so I asked him to please escalate the case. His reply to that was: "I'm as high as you're ever going to get, speaking to Verizon. I'm it.. it doesn't get escalated higher than me. My decision is final"
I asked one more time, what what the official reason is for not honoring the other reps promise, and how he could justify not doing it even though it had been offered to me. (Now, I'd like to add, this promise was not something I'd imagined or made up. It was actually written in the notes, that I had been offered the replacement for the same cost as a deductible. I confirmed this by going on chat to speak with a sales rep later that day, and I had the rep go into my account and confirm that this promise was made. I also had them email me the chat transcript, so I had something in writing.. I have evidence of this promise.)
His answer was simply: "That offer is no longer on the table" - That part is verbatim. I remember clearly those were his exact words. That offer is no longer on the table. I asked for him to clarify, but he just repeated, "That offer is no longer on the table", followed by "..and there's nothing you can do about it."
In all my life, I have never seen a large company like Verizon behave in this way. It has been extremely the most stressful dealing I have ever endured with a company of this scale.
Now, a week later I still have no resolution. I'm currently without a phone, which is a very big deal for me, because I have two young daughters in Australia, who have my number memorized as an emergency contact and they call me and speak to me often. I miss them a lot, and after having not seen them for over a year, speaking to them on a daily basis has become something that's very important to me, and to my girls.
I'm hoping and praying someone from Verizon will read this, and help me, or maybe some of you on the forum may have some idea on what to do at this point.
Thank you so much for reading, thank you for your time, please comment, or let me know if you have any advice for me. I'll be posting this on several other sites as well.
Along with hoping to get some help with my situation, I'm also hoping others who read this will be cautious about trusting the word of your Verizon rep, and please get everything in writing, (although even if I had my offer in writing, I have no idea how it would help.)
I plan also to open a case with Consumer Affairs, as well get my story out there on a large scale via certain media.
    Thanks again
    Aloha

Verizon staff, if you're reading this, I hope that you will see it as an opportunity to show other customers and potential customers that this type of thing is not your usual way of treating customers.
I hope that you see it as a chance to prove Verizon's integrity.
I will be updating this thread, to let people know how the situation is handled from this point on.
I have not yet posted this in any other forum, and I do not plan to reach out to a wider audience yet. If all goes well, it will stop here.. Please give this story a happy ending.
    Thanks.

  • Long running faults that BT refuse to fix - Am at ...

    Hi,
I have two faults that I can’t get resolved despite one of them being over 4 months old and I am at my wits end. Nobody seems to want to take ownership of my issues and I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of support.
I have an intermittent fault where I can’t dial out. Sometimes this will last a few minutes, other times it can be half an hour or more. It affects all numbers including 1471 & BT line test numbers and occurs with any handsets including a wired handset in the test socket. I get a dial tone, dial a number, it dials then either goes back to the dial tone or is silent (with background hiss). This can occur at any time of the day and can be either the first time I have dialled or can occur randomly after trying.
I have now had 9 engineers to the property and each one hasn’t been passed any previous notes by the faults team despite me insisting that it would really help if they could see the call history before they waste their journey.
I have had 3 new NTE5 boxes, had every D-side connector checked from here to the exchange, been put on to a different dropwire and even a different pair up to the Exchange. I have had my port swapped but still the problem occurs. Caveat – This is what I have been told, none of this may have actually occurred.
I have had two engineers present in the house while the fault occurred and they both confirmed with their test equipment that I had a fault.
This has been occurring since December the 26th 2011 and it is now April the 27th 2012.
My second fault which has been on-going for around 2 months now is that when I dial either 0800 800 150 or 151 I get an automated message saying that I am not a BT customer and then the line drops.
I have played recordings of this to the faults team but they just don’t understand. In fact there seems to be a total lack of comprehension from them on this issue and therefore any attempt to pass this up the chain for a resolution. In fact it seems that they just want to get rid of me as quickly as possibly after reading from their crib sheet and get on to the next call.
Here is a transcript of the latest recording I have
Hello, thanks for calling BT. If you’re calling from the number you want to talk about press 1
        * I press 1
Thanks I can see a fault was recently reported on this number. If you calling about this press 1
        * I press 1
Please hold, please hold, rings, please hold while we check the details, please hold, please hold, rings, sorry, since you are not a BT customer you will need to discuss your request with your current telephone provider.
To get through I have to repeatedly press the # key until it bypasses the automated system. Upon talking to someone they always confirm that I am actually a customer, which I am quite aware of and so is my Bank.
Before these issues were reported I did have another problem whereby the line would not allow any incoming or outgoing calls. This was resolved fairly quickly at the Exchange by swapping my port and I was advised that my line was being interrupted every time the adjacent line was in use.
I do have ADSL form another provider and am running VOIP phones from this and one engineer even suggested this could be the cause of the fault but I and they have reproduced both these issues from the test socket on their test equipment which obviously removes any ancillary wiring or equipment from the equation.
As you can see I have been given a right run-around by BT and am now looking to escalate this and would appreciate it if anyone could offer any suggestions. It would really help if I could speak to a UK based team so we can remove the language barrier issues that seem to be causing a lot of my grief.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Sorry to drag this up but just had a similar problem that no-one at BT is interested in and spotted this thread.
I can dial a number, then it goes back to the dial tone, sometimes i get an hour of this, sometimes a minute, its intermittent, but it's very annoying but it's every day. After 3 engineers visits and many chats with the call centre's [located god knows where] after the last call they have given up, and i'm passed the point of wanting to go through it step by step yet again. I even used my old phone, [BT issue] even bought new ones, disconnected my extension, etc etc it made no difference, incoming calls on my answerphone often state "interupted" when there's been no one in.
I have asked Virgimedia to take over the BT number [i have had an unused but working line for about 10 years with them] as i said after Bulldog fiasco i had, that i would never leave BT ever again, well guess what.
On ringing them to inform BT, the guy said "unbelievable" "3 engineers ??? " "the call centre cancelled your 4th visit ??" etc etc.
Well i have had enough, they even asked how my Broadband was [which i dont have with BT], i was going to say better than my **bleep** phone line thanks.

  • I'm getting charged for a glitch in the Verizon system, how do I fix this?

    To Whom It May Concern:
We have been a longtime and loyal Verizon Wireless customer and advocate. Up until yesterday, we could not imagine ever using any other company beside Verizon Wireless. However, we received our bill yesterday and were shocked to see it was over $800. After talking to several customer service representatives throughout the day, we were directed here.
In the past we have regularly received warnings via text and email warning us that our minutes could go over (that we understand are a courtesy) up until last month when we did not, and went way over on our minutes. We have come to rely on these courtesy texts. When they were taken away we got hit really hard. Customer service representatives have said there is a good chance that this was just a glitch... that is costing me $600 on top of our bill.
If this were our fault, we would have no problem paying the extra cost but because it is a glitch and we found text message warnings as recently as March 27th (the month before our problem). This means that the one month we did not receive warnings, we went way over. We really do feel this isn't fair.
We have been on autopay for years simply because we have trusted Verizon Wireless to take care of us and our money. This trust has kept us from going to other companies and has also helped encourage friends and family to come to Verizon. We now feel like that trust has been betrayed and a big company just doesn't care. We run a small business and understand the importance of brand loyalty. The problem is, brand loyalty doesn't work when the brand isn't loyal to their customers. If we treated our customers in this manner, we would go out of business.
Every customer service rep we have talked to has been absolutely incredible. However, this system seems incredibly unfair.  We are getting punished because of a courtesy that was regularly extended and then withheld... what kind of a courtesy is that? If it is a courtesy only when it benefits Verizon and not long time and loyal customers, it really isn't a help or a courtesy. We would love to continue to be loyal customers for many years to come but at this point, we really do have to re-think things.
This is particularly hard to swallow because every person we talked to yesterday said we are paying these fines due to a technicality in the policy (the text messages are technically a courtesy) that covers the fact that there was a glitch in Verizon's system so we didn't receive this tool that we have come to rely on. Basically, we have to pay for Verizon's glitch. We do not understand how this is good customer service to stick it to loyal customers who have loved your company for years.
Yesterday we did some cursory research and another company assured us that this kind of thing would never happen with their service. They are also less expensive. We have always had zero problems with Verizon's cost because of the quality service we have received. We also have believed that the business model and leadership of Verizon is solid and other companies have cut corners to give customers lower costs. When higher costs aren't met with higher standards, it makes it harder to spend more on a company. Yesterday, in order to avoid another glitch we had to sign up for a plan that is $20 more per month. Once again, everyone we spoke to yesterday was incredibly kind and were doing their best to help. They did as much as they could and said their hands were tied by the system. But, they could not fix our problem.
The question is, who do we talk to about getting this matter resolved? We spent hours on the phone yesterday and the reps basically said we should write a letter and post here.
Please help me as we'd like to continue with Verizon and restore our trust in this company.
    Thank you for your time.
    Sincerely,
    Robert & Lauren

    Wow!
This similar scenario happen to me yesterday, my billing cycle began with 54minutes of peak/land line used.  I immediately checked my call log and there were No calls of such made at start of cycle.  Called Verizion and got a nice rep, but she was New cause she kept putting me on hold to inquire with a manager.  first she stated that those minutes could've been from two months or so and are just now hitting your bill usage.  Are you fricken kidding me? With technology as advanced as it is, your saying it takes that long to log a call? ** I'm not buying.  So she transferred me to a Tech. Support person who was very knowledgable and assesses the problem right away as a"Glitch" in Verizon's System.  He assured me someone would call to confirm the correction and reverse any charges.
What if I had not checked online my usage?  Which I never do.  I just happen to log in to view a new phone for upgrade.  i do know if this glitch is not fixed after 15years with Verizon in 7days they will be retired from my use.  It's sad to know how many other customers are being charged in this manner without knowing.  If Verizon is not working effortlessly to fix or correct this problem, then it looks like a greed for profit situation.

  • Help! Has anyone else had this? Re: caller ID Issu...

    Dear all,
I would understand if you didn't have the time to read my extensive notes below so the short version is the following (if you wanted a good laugh at my expense and a diatribe on the perils of switching ISP then do read it).
    My caller ID doesn't work.
Having switched to BT on February 10th it is now two months and my caller ID still doesn't work.
I have called and reported it several times. I have gone through all the line testing. I have plugged my phone into the master socket. I have dialed #234# and it says it's active. I have even bought a new BT phone and tried that.
BT can see no fault on the line. It says caller ID is active. But no caller ID's appear on either of my phones when someone calls in. It just says 'incoming call'. I am convinced it is not the phones. There is no menu option to activate caller ID on the phones. They're gooid quality phones and are supposed to automatically work 'if caller ID is active on the line'.
I am about to call BT again and ask for an engineer visit. But on their last email to me it said "Please note: we'll provide a working service up to and including the main socket in your house. If your problem isn't with your BT service, you might need to pay a £130.00 repair charge. So it's worth checking your own equipment before the visit and cancelling the visit if you fix things."
Before I risk the £130 charge, has anyone else experienced this kind of fault with caller ID?
My extensive notes on my user experience switching from Virgin to BT
Finally decided to get Infinity end of Jan and phoned up Virgin on 21st January to request a MAC code and see what penalty fee I would have to pay for cancelling early. Guy was very helpful, gave me the code and said I would have to pay £44 penalty. Incidentally he also warned me to phone up Virgin after the switch had taken place to ensure everything really had been cancelled.
I subsequently received several emails from Virgin. One was the Mac code – great! Two were duplicated ‘disconnection of phone’ emails. There was no mention of disconnecting the broadband. Which was odd but who am I to guess how this works?
I rang BT and set everything up to be switched over on Tuesday 7th February, which coincidentally was the time when I was using up the last of my annual leave. Engineer appointment was arranged. All seemingly went smooth as! Great!
I subsequently received several emails from BT as well, confirming all the arrangements – great!
Home hub scheduled to be delivered on Friday 3rd Feb to be ready for engineer on Tuesday 7th. I had arranged for the hub to be delivered to my work address. It did not arrive and this was the first black mark against BT. There was an attempted delivery to my home address and we weren’t in…we were at work…hence why I’d asked for it to be delivered there. Hence I had to go to the local sorting office on Saturday 4th Feb to collect it in person. No worries I thought…BT Infinity would be worth it!
So I am enjoying my annual leave and on Monday 6th Feb I get an email and text message to say sorry there is a delay – we will contact you Wednesday 8th Feb to reschedule the engineer visit. WHAT!!!!!? I am on the phone urgently asking what has happened? Will this affect my connection currently? I am told not to worry and they will get back to me early on 8th Feb. Represents second black mark against BT. Don’t make appointments 2 weeks in advance and then cancel the day before. It does not make for happy new customers. But I am too far into the process now and have no power to intervene. So I wait.
Tuesday 7th arrives. No engineer and no Infinity. Virgin send me an email saying my phone is now cancelled and disconnected…still no mention of cancelled broadband like you would expect.
Wednesday 8th Feb. I receive a text and email from BT to say my new engineer visit is 20th Feb. WHAT!!!!!? That is unacceptable when I have taken my last bit of annual leave to be off for the original scheduled visit. I can’t take off more time 12 days later. I phone up and communicate this to BT. Helpful guy says he’ll try and arrange something else and thank god that afternoon he comes through for me and I have the engineer coming, finally, on Friday 10th Feb.
Get emails from BT on 10th and 14th Feb saying broadband is now active and order is complete respectively. No mention of phone which is weird but it still works so what the hell.
On Friday 17th Feb I get an advanced DD notice from Virgin. I am expecting this to be the final bill including the £44 penalty fee. It says they’re taking £30.35 beginning of March. Er….what? I phone them to have the bill deciphered. At the same time I wish to check that I am all cancelled with them. I find out that the phone is cancelled but the Broadband hasn’t been. Honestly I can’t believe this. I demand to know why this is when I’ve been using Infinity for the last week. They blame BT and say BT used the MAC code incorrectly. I immediately cancel it as they confirm I’m still paying for Virgin Broadband. Two advisors are unable to explain the bill to me. I am finally put through to what I presume is the finance section and I speak to ‘Joanne’. She seems to have a brain and is helpful. I need to know how much I need to pay to settle everything, including any penalty fees. I really want rid of Virgin. Joanne tells me that all I owe is £6.96. I query this as that makes even less sense than the first bill. She says that is all that is outstanding on my account. I presume my cancellation has gone through on their system and that is all I owe. I am not going to argue anymore. I pay the £6.96 (payment reference 020835) there and then and I ask Joanne can I now delete the direct debit from my bills account? I know how these things will go and I do not want Virgin taking money from my bills account without explaining anything. Joanne agrees that I can delete the direct debit as I have no outstanding amount on my account. Ok then…I delete the direct debit. As of 02/03/2012 as I write this I have not heard anything more from Virgin.
Back to BT. Having got off the phone from Virgin I bite the bullet and decide to phone BT as well because a) there is no 1571 service on my phone b) there is no caller ID and c) I can’t login to their swanky online system – laughably it says my username, which they have repeatedly sent me in their emails for three weeks, is not recognised. I get through to an Indian call centre and explain these three issues. They are quite helpful and I can mostly understand what they’re saying. The guy says they will activate both phone services immediately – I can’t be bothered to ask why they weren’t already active? He has to transfer me to someone else for the online thing. He transfers me and to cut a long story and lots of waiting with god awful standby music – they can’t sort it out that day as there is some inexplicable software issue and can I call back another time. Ok I’ll let them off – just make sure my phone service is fully operational.
I subsequently get two emails from BT telling me the 1571 and caller ID will be active by 20th Feb in 3 days time.
Note that date of 20th Feb. That was the date that was referred to when they’d cancelled my 7th Feb original engineer visit. I have a strong feeling that all this is due to them changing that original engineer visit.
Note as of 02/03/2012 caller ID doesn’t work on my phone and I am still unable to login to online BT. They did activate 1571 though. I suppose I should be grateful.
It is now 24/03/2012. I have spent the time putting up with no caller ID. I have just realised today I had to register with MyBT on the website which I have now done, but I’m still not sure if this is correct given that they sent me a username and password previously which didn’t work when I tried to login. Anyway I have set it up but still can’t view my bill. Perhaps that will clear. I did buy a BT phone, yet another **bleep** phone, 4th in two years, in the hope that it would miraculously fix my phone fault caller ID but to no avail. It still doesn’t work. I have just phoned BT India again and done all the steps over the phone with the guy, who can’t see a fault on the line when he’s tested it. He has handed it over to the engineers with a promise that it will be fixed by 29th. I won’t hold my breath. If it isn’t fixed it will be a matter of a huge complaint letter. Update: on the evening of the 24th I received a text and email to say it had been fixed. But it hasn’t. It still doesn’t work. Oh BT how you play with my nerdy heart promising simple things and utterly failing to deliver!
01/04/2012: PhoningIndiaabout the caller ID again. Its April Fools I have to try for a third time don’t I? Right so the lady I spoke to didn’t make me go through all the checks from her script, which I appreciated. To be honest I didn’t give her a chance – I began the call and didn’t stop talking and said:
I didn’t want to dial the #234# thing
I didn’t want to try another phone
I didn’t want to do a line test
I couldn’t see any alternative other than an engineer visit
She went off to speak to her supervisor and said she’d call me back. Amusingly, while I was waiting for her to call back I received a call from BT India asking me to rate the efficiency and politeness of the woman I just spoke to. I refused to do this pending the outcome of my problem. Come on BT don’t ask me to give positive feedback when this problem has been going on for two months. Anyway the original lady called me back finally and said her supervisor was escalating the problem to 2nd tier support and they would have it fixed in three days and she would again call me back to make sure everything was ok. I am not holding my breath and there was no mention of arranging an engineer visit. We shall see what transpires.
It is now 10/04/2012. I have never received the call back. I did receive a text and an email to say my fault had been fixed. But of course it hasn’t been fixed. Amusingly, at the bottom of the last email there was this statement – “Please note: we'll provide a working service up to and including the main socket in your house. If your problem isn't with your BT service, you might need to pay a £130.00 repair charge. So it's worth checking your own equipment before the visit and cancelling the visit if you fix things”. So it’s my fault? Before I call back again I am going to post on the BT help forums and see if anyone else has had this problem.

  • HP 7450 Photosmart After Printing completes Printer cycles 1/2 page and gets fault

I have been through the mill with support and still no answer. My printer Prints Great, no issues. However, after it completes 1, 2 or 10 page documents the printer stops at the ready as it should. Then three seconds the printer starts it alignment cycle? You hear a lot of movement and then it pulls in a page 1/2 way and stops with a Jam fault. Pull the Paper out and push the ready button and it cycles and comes ready, then put the paper back in the input tray and you are ready to print. I have deleted everything out of my USB and also de-installed the printer and re-installed the printer. Nothing has changed this.
This problem started after a paper jam and trying to get the printer ready to print again. Again the Printer prints great and pages OK. It is just after it completes the print job that it gets this problem.
    Thanks
    John

I found a way to print at least 10 sheets before it faults out again.
    1. Physically pull the sheet of paper out.
    2. Remove all paper
    3. press the large button on the front of the printer and let it completely cycle. You should get a green light when it finishes.
    4. Put paper back in the paper tray and print.
    Do this everytime it faults.
Also empty the paper tray on the last sheet of the print job and it will not fault.

  • Ee tv fault

    Absolute disgrace!
I signed up for ee tv and I received the Ee tv set top box on Thursday, plugged it all in and within 5 minutes it had switched itself off TWICE and continues to do so. Clearly a faulty box.
I called Ee and spent the next 2 HOURS speaking to a call centre, to be told an engineer must come to my house to check everything out yet "THIS IS A KNOWN FAULT ON THESE SET TOP BOXES" but "this is the process we must go through".
However, as an ex cable TV engineer, I knew this was a fault with the box but Ee insist their engineer had to come to see the box in situ and would bring another with them to replace if needed.
I don't understand the logic of this - it's clearly a faulty box - surely sending a replacement is the simplest option.
I was told an engineer MUST come to the house, which has been difficult for me to arrange upon EEs will.
I made a complaint on the call as I thought it was not good enough. I was then threatened that it would cost me over £250 if I cancelled!
I couldn't believe what I was hearing! I was being threatened with a big bill to shut up and do what the call handler wanted. DISGRACEFUL.
I shot this down instantly as I could lawfully cancel my contract within the first 14 days.
After speaking to the cancellation team, I gave ee an opportunity to redeem itself and arranged for the engineer.
After speaking to another call centre for the engineer, which again I explained the problem was a faulty box and they replied "THIS IS A KNOWN FAULT ON THESE SET TOP BOXES" an appointment was made - which was for today between 12 - 3.
The engineer arrived at 1pm and I explained the problem, he said "THIS IS A KNOWN FAULT ON THESE SET TOP BOXES".
He then said he hasn't got a replacement in his van! He said he would usually but hasn't as he was going on holiday(?!?!) and another appointment would need to be arranged!
I asked if a set top could be dropped off and I'll set it up etc. He said he was the only engineer in the area.
He was in the house less than 10 minutes.
So again. I have to arrange further time off to wait for Ee to come.
This is a disgrace - just send me a replacement box, with a return envelope so I can send the faulty one back to you. Simple.

This is a user forum. so you will have to speak to EE. Your 14 day cooling off is from the day you sign up with EE, not from the date you have broadband. You can complete  a complaints form here:

  • Fault message in synchronous send step in BPM

    Hi,
When executing a synchronous send step in BPM it is possible to handle application errors (fault messages) with an exception branch. But how do you get hold of the actual data in the Fault message(faultText, faultURL, faultDetail etc) for further processing (mapping)?
    Kind regards Johan

    Johan,
u have to define another container element in integration process.
For that container element an Async Abstract interface has to created with falult message as the message.
Do u have the fault message defined already...
    Also go through this thread.
    Fault message handling in BPM
