Is this a scam? PayPal writing gig

Answered a Craigslist ad for a writing gig. The man responded back and I wanted to make sure there is no risk involved. Is this a scam? See message below. It’s easy work, and for $4 per review (a minute or two of work), we believe that it’s a great deal. As the work is on-going, the money can rack up. Payment is always the same day. Once the review has been submitted, you should tell me the name that you left the review under, and also your Paypal email address. Then the first payment will be issued. We do require your email address if were are going to send you payments

I'm not sure but since he's only asking for your paypal email address and that ther work is only a few minutes, I guess you could try doing one job and see if you get paid. If you do, then keep doing it, if you don't, you should see if there is any spam or phishing emails in your inbox.

No but there's a link to reset your password. Etc etc..
This is the email I got.
"Your Apple ID was just used to download Photoshop Touch for phone £2.99 from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.
If you initiated this download, you can disregard this email. It was only sent to alert you in case you did not initiate the download yourself.
If you did not initiate this download, we recommend that you go to iforgot.apple.com to change your password, then see Apple ID: Tips for protecting the security of your account for further assistance.

  • HT201318 My phone said I needed an upgrade to backup because I was out of space; now that I upgraded, my storage is below the free limit again. What gives ? Is this a scam to get more money ? Now iCloud won't let me cancel the upgrade immediately.

My iPhone said I needed to get more backup space in order to backup my phone. When I purchased an additional 10G my storage dropped below the original 5G. So when i tried to cancel the upgrade immediately, it said I have to wait until the end of the year. Is this a scam apple is using to squeeze more money out of their loyal customers ? When I tried to contact phone support they spent 10 minutes trying to get me to buy additional warrant services before finally telling me they couldn't help with iCloud.
Does anyone have any suggestions ?
    A very disappointed apple fan

This should clear up on its own and allow you to delete the account, however it can take 3-5 days before this happens.

Try to log in to your account from your computer.  If it's locked, call customer service (800-922-0204).  If you can log in and all looks normal, forward the texts to SPAM (7726).

  • Is this a scam:  change my Apple ID by March 30 or loose all my iTunes music?

    Dear iTunes Customer,
Our records indicate that you have been using your AOL Username to sign in to the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store.
After March 30, 2015, AOL will no longer support your ability to sign in to the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store. In order to continue using store features, including the ability to access your previously purchased content, you must transition from signing in with your AOL Username to signing in with an Apple ID.
To make this transition, simply sign in once more with your AOL Username to iTunes on your Mac or PC. You will automatically be taken through a few short steps to complete the process.
When the process is complete, your new Apple ID will allow you to continue to purchase and download music, movies, TV shows, apps, books, and more. Additionally, your Apple ID will allow you to access other Apple services, such as iCloud and the Apple Online Store.
This transition does not affect any AOL services you may be using with your AOL Username.
AOL Usernames which have not been transitioned to Apple ID will permanently lose access to the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store after March 30, 2015. Apple will be unable to provide support for AOL Usernames which are not transitioned by this date.
To learn more about this transition, visit support.apple.com/kb/HT204268.

I have read here that the E-mail is legitimate. The link you posted is to an Apple support document.
As I understand it, people who used an AOL screen name as their Apple ID need to change it (today). All one needs to do is substitute an E-mail address (AOL or anything else).

  • I received a mesage to install MacKeeper, thinking it was from Apple, which I have done. Was this an eror? Is this a scam?

    Greetings all,
First time for me in a chat room. Apologies for any mistake.

    Was this an eror?
    Yes.
    Is this a scam?
    Yes.
Remove the "MacKeeper" crapware as follows.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions, nor do I intend to repeat the test.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Applications from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Drag it to the Trash. A dialog will pop up asking why you want to uninstall it. You don't have to provide that information. Enter anything you like in the text box, then click the Uninstall  button. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. That's the only useful feature of "MacKeeper:" it deletes itself. Reboot.
Do not try to uninstall by dragging the MacKeeper icon from the Dock to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” “extenders,” “cleaners,” “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this kind of material is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.
