Just received an email from Apple? saying that they needed some personal information is this a scam?

I just received an e-mail from "Apple?" saying that they charged $599.00 to my account and if it wasn't me than give them all sorts of personal information and they will look at it I did NOT spend any money at Apple! is this a SCAM?

It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information. You can use the address below to forward the suspect email message to Apple.

I've just received an email from 'Apple' saying that my apple id was used to sign into iCloud on an iphone 5S.  I have an iphone 4.  It then asks that I 'click here' to confirm my details and change my password.  How do I tell if the email is genuine?

Apple will not ask you to click a link in an email. They may tell you to log in to your account to reset your password. Go to https://appleid.apple.com and log in if you ever want to change any information in your profile (or your password). And do not click the link I just posted; instead enter it into a browser.
You can verify the devices assigned to your account by going to https://icloud.com/find (again, don't click it), where you can see a list of devices registered to your Apple ID.
As a general rule, you should never click a link in an email or forum post without verifying it first. You can see where it goes without clicking it in most email programs and browsers by hovering your mouse pointer over it. On an iPhone you can check where it goes by holding your finger on the link (rather than just tapping it).

  • Received a email from Apple stating that my Apple ID was used for a purchase not on my device. It had a link to cancel purchase but asked for my email and password which I gave then it wanted my credit card info! I didn't give that, what should I do?

Received a email from Apple stating that my Apple ID was used for a purchase not on my device. It had a link to cancel purchase but asked for my email and password which I gave then it wanted my credit card info! I didn't give that, what should I do? Do you think this is just a way to get my credit card information?

It sounds like a phishing email. You can't "cancel" purchases. You've now given them your AppleID and password, so you should immediately change your password to something new and very secure.
Also watch out for suspicicious activity on your account.

It's a scam (phishing) to try to get you to disclose your iCloud credentials.  Apple requests that you forward these to [email protected]

  • HT4436 Just received an email from iCloud stating that my free upgrade was going to expire and decrease to 5, when I had been using 10+. What is this??

I just received an email from icloud stating that my free upgrade was going to expire and it would decrease to 5 (when I have been using 10+). What is this??

The actual amount of extra free storage varies depending on how much storage previous subscribers had.
If you do nothing your storage will dowgrade to 5GB so you should make sure you don't have more content than this.
If you want to continue with the increased storage by paying for it, please see
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5527
and expand 'How do I purchase my current plan?'.

  • I just received an email from Apple that I was choose to complete a Apple survey to receive a Mac . Is this for real or a scam?

I just got an email that I was selected as a winner for a apple survey. Then I would receive a iMac . Is this for real?

It is a scam. Forward a copy of the email to both your internet service provider and your email service provider and explain that it is likely a phishing scam. DO not visit the site of the survey or any other link in the email. Delete the email.

  • I am unable to get the iTunes store to accept my Apple ID and password, despite having received an email from Apple indicating that the ID and password are valid. I purchased an iPad and need to sync my laptop with it, but I can't download any apps.

How do I get apps downloaded from the iTunes store? Every time I try to sign on with my user id and password, I get a message stating that my account has never been used to purchase anything from iTunes before, and that I need to review my account. Yet when I click on the link to review the account, it just leads back to the store.  I have tried "starting from scratch" to attempt to create a new account again, but get the message that my email is already associated with an Apple account, so it won't let me start over. I just purchased an iPad2 and am trying to get started with downloading items,  but getting nowhere fast. If this is an example of how Apple does business, I may be returning the iPad2 for a refund.

Have either of you had any luck with this issue.  It began happening to me today when I was trying to purchase music on iTunes.  I have purchased music and games in the past and have had no problem.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • I got an email from Apple saying that my credit card was declined when I never used it. I am wondering if it is a phishing email.

    Here is the email -

After reading your reply, I am almost convinced that it was a phishing email. It was not personalized and was addressed to 'dear client'.
Also the entire email was a hyperlink to
    http://www.nada.com.sa/your-nada/blend-us-a-mix/images/tmp/174733-ap.html
which was then automatically directed to
    http://account7567458474846566788fd5654gfdhdrtkj6j757843apple.howtorespawn.net/f fe1be1685f7198c4a4de71a62652abf/
This page looked like a genuine apple web page and all other links on this page were going to real Apple's UK website!
They did their best to convince that the email genuinely came from Apple.

  • When you recieve an email from apple saying "welcome to your new mac" what does this mean

    hey people
i recieved an email saying "welcome to your new mac"
i have already got a imac and was wondering if this means someone has purchesed another mac?
    thanks

Did the email ask that you click on a link or provide additional information about yourself? If so it's a phishing scam. Delete the message and ignore it.
If you did buy a new computer sometime recently, then it's just a welcome email, nothing more.

  • HT201363 my husband received an email from Apple stating we needed new credit card information.  We had just gotten a new credit card and couldn't remember if we updated it or not.  What kind of questions would you ask for that? It may have been fraud?

My husband received an email from Apple stating our account was frozen and we needed to update our credit information.  We recently got a new credit card and so went ahead and updated information.  They asked about mothers maiden name and social security information.  Now we are feeling skeptical.  Are these the kinds of questions Apple would ask?  Now all my information is out there and I can't even get a hold of a human being at support to answer any questions for me as to whether they sent this or not????? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That email was a phishing attempt to get your iTunes account and payment details - iTunes accounts aren't 'frozen', and iTunes don't need your social security info.
If your husband entered his card details then he should contact the card issuer immediately and get it cancelled and replaced.
He should also change the password on his iTunes account e.g. via the Store > View Account menu option on his computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com
If you still have the email then you could forward it to Apple : [email protected]

my mail only receives certain messages . received  email from apple saying  mail is full and it isn'.
a lot of email that others send me  don't even get to may mailbox.

Your icloud storage must be full, from emails, backups, and other data.
    Go to
Settings>General>Usage.  This tells how much storage is used on both iCloud and on the device.

Did the email contain your name? Never click on a link in an email like that and do no enter any personal info after clicking in an email.
There have been quite a few people getting these emails. They are a phishing attempt to get your personal info.

It did not come from Apple. Do not click on the link and do not supply your password. It is a scam. You can report the phishing email to Apple here:
