Is your iPad screen resolution good enough?

I'm just curious. I don't have an iPad, but I am thinking about getting an iPad2 WiFi. I really like my retina display on my iPhone 4, but playing with friends iPads I don't seem to care much about the resolution difference. But, since I've only used one for +/- 10 minutes total maybe screen resolution is something that annoys you later?
Everything I have been reading about the screen is a complaint about it not having retina display. Some people are so upset they're going to wait until a model with a better res comes out before buying their first iPad. That seems dramatic to me. I think people are asking for everything, but want the price point of half that. So, is your iPad screen resolution good enough for you? Or is it a LEGITIMATE problem that interferes with usability.

Everything I have been reading about the screen is a complaint about it not having retina display
And the complaint is only that it does not have one.
It's not that the current display is poor and it needs to be better.

  • Original iPad screen resolution

I've noticed that since I upgraded my wifi to xfiniti blast, super fast wifi, my original iPad screen resolution is much crisper, and clearer, cleaner...
Is the screen resolution and images on original iPad affected by a stronger , faster wif signal?
Or is it sometimes not as crisp and clear due to overheating?

Are you using a cloud-based browser like Opera or iSwifter? This is the only way I can conceive your Internet connection affecting clarity.

  • Quite often when I plug in my iPad 2, iTunes goes to the "Set Up Your iPad" screen and makes me restore it. Any way to stop this?

I have had my iPad 2 since the start of June 2011. There are a lot of times when it works great, but I have had trouble sometimes when I sync. Prior problems were with SQLite3.dll, but got help copying that file to the right place. I have also completely uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. However, my biggest problem is that sometimes when I plug it in to sync with iTunes, it automatically goes to the "Set Up Your iPad" screen. It only allows me to set it up as a new iPad, or restore it from a backup. This is happening more and more. So much so that everytime I plug it in and it actually does work, before disconnecting I will right click on the iPad on the left hand bar and do a backup. This is really starting to get on my nerves. I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary with my iPad. Just playing some games and having a few other apps. It's so hard when playing some games like Angry Birds, getting 3 stars in all levels, only to plug the iPad in again to sync and have to restore it and lose all progress! Does anyone know why it goes to this screen? It doesn't happen all the time, but I'd say once every 4 times I connect. Also, I'm using Windows 7, and yes, all windows updates are done, and iTunes always is on the most up-to-date version. Thanks for any help!

Normally, I would suggest restoring the iPad and uninstall and reinstall iTunes but you have done both of those things - more times than you ever imagined!
Have you thought about turning auto syncing off?
Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
If you do this you can backup the iPad right away before it syncs. You may want to go into all of the iTunes tabs and just make sure that all of the current content on the iPad is selected to sync before you actually do sync.
This doesn't solve the problem, but it would prevent the automatic sync and erasing content. Hopefully, in the next few days- when iOS 5 is released - you will also be relieved of this weird iPad behavior - since the iOS devices are supposed to become PC free.
BTW - and this is no excuse for what you are experiencing, but I have found that some of the game apps that I had on my iPad turned out to be quite troublesome and after I removed them, my problems went away. I know that is almost sacrilege with regard to the Angry Birds addiction .... But I'm just saying ...

  • L215p - better than T410s screen? Good enough for photo editing work?

I never had set up an external monitor with a laptop, so just have 3 questions regarding the L215p monitor.
    1) The T410s outputs screen resolution with an aspect of 16:10.  A monitor like the L215p (most new wide monitors for that matter) display an aspect of 16:9.  Can I still view with a 16:10 ratio if I use that monitor?  I never sacrifice distorted aspect ratios for more screen real estate as things never look correct to me.  When I'm watching TV and a channel broadcasts in 4:3, I never widescreen it and "stretch" the image to fill the screen because I like to see things how they were meant to be seen, if you know what I mean.  The bottom line, can I preserve the 16:10 when using this monitor (e.g. have the vertical dimension maxed out while having black letterboxed gaps on the left and right)?
    2) I'm going to be using the T410s with the L215p.  People have been subjectively rating the T410s screen from poor to mediocre, but never awesome.  Does the L215p have better image quality (contrast, dynamic range, brightness) than the T410s screen?  I know that the image quality from the L215p won't be cutting edge given the moderate price, but just wondering if it's an improvement from the T410s screen in every or most ways.
    3) I'm not a pro photographer and my livelihood doesn't depend on shooting pictures, but I do photography as a hobby.  I would like to post process my photos using Photoshop and Lightroom and was wondering if the L215p can get the job done (can it be calibrated accurately, is image reproduction to real life close enough, can I post process knowing that what I see is reasonably close to reality, etc).
    Thank you.

    Thanks.
    1) Ok understood.  I'll try to go with a monitor that has a native 16:10 aspect ratio then.
    2) I thought so too.
    3) Yes I've heard of this.  Upon further consideration, I'm scrapping the idea of the Lenovo L215p.  Lenovo had the L220x which has a VA panel but I don't know if that's been discontinued.  That had a high res 16:10 ratio.  I'm considering the Dell UltraSharp 2209WA which has an EIPS panel but that model is nearly a year and a half old.  Still ok to buy?  In any event, I'm sure the 2209WA would blow the L215p out of the water in terms of display performance.
e-IPS is good, have a look at the Dell Outlet, you could get someones fairly cheaply, even second hand ultrasharp LCD is okay, if they have warranty on them.

  • Does your IPad Screen Still Repsonse to Your Taps?

Ok. This is really strange. I was using my iPad this morning, no problem. Making notes and in my calendar. No big deal. Oh yeah, I have downloaded iOS5. Then I stopped for a moment and when I went back., now all of a sudden I have the split keyboard as default and my touch screen is NOT respondind to my taps. swipes, flicks or anything!!!!!!!! I finally figured that one tap selects, it puts a black outline around app. then 2 taps to open!!!! But this is not working in iCal. I cannot edit existing events. Now trying to type something means I have to REPEATEDLY tap the keys!!!!! AGH!!!!!!! my iPhone is still working ok!!!!! is this happening to anyone else...I am going to have to put in a ticket! This is ridiculous!

Have you turned on VoiceOver (if you turn the volume up do you hear what you touch/tap) ? As you've found out you need to touch or tap the field that you want to use/select and it should get a box around it ; then double-tap that field to activate/type it. VoiceOver can be turned off  Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver and turn it off.
The iPad manual also says that you should be able to switch voice-over off by connecting to your computer's iTunes :
Turn VoiceOver on or off in iTunes: Select iPad in the iTunes sidebar. In the Options section of the Summary pane, click Configure Universal Access. Select VoiceOver, then click OK.
So select Configure Universal Access at the bottom of the Summary tab and set Seeing to Neither

  • HT4044 Can Dust particles get inside your iPad screen? What should I do?

I have recently noticed that my iPad 3rd generation has had some defects, there is a random black speck on my screen. I barely use my iPad other for school, and i am very careful with it, I'm worried because I recently bought it. I have the 2 year warranty, would I have to pay to replace it?

It's difficult to analyze what's happened from a distance.  However, from what you said, I expect that the warranty WILL cover the repair.  Hopefully there's an Apple Store within reasonable distance.  If so, make an appointment with the resident "Genius" and take it in.  Otherwise, call Apple.  800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada.

  • Ipad screen resolution

    Hi all,
I had developed a app (not a game) an elearning content with the size 940(w)x620(h). When I published the content for ipad, it shows the white spaces with the size of 1024x768. How to avoid that remaining spaces over on the app? Is it possible to run the app in a specific size like a popup?

    You are correct.
Try this with a wifi connection. Open Safari and use this URL for YouTube:

You can toggle between SD and HD videos on YouTube.

  • How can i watch video on IPAD screen with Apple TV?

i have apple tv and itune libary on the same network.
i am wondering if i can watch movies stored in the libary on the ipad screen without turning on the tv or the computer. i have no problem watch the movies on TV thru apple tv. thanks.

If your computer is turned off, the iTunes library is no longer available to the iPad or the Apple TV. You can connect the iPad to the computer and use iTunes to sync your library to the iPad; this copies your music and movies to the iPad, and you can play them whenever and wherever you wish.
If your iPad does not have enough memory to store all your movies, use the "Selected movies only" option and check off the movies you want to copy; the rest will not be copied.

  • I can't lock my ipad screen.

I do not think that my lock screen button is spoiled but it does not lock my ipad screen. Has anyone encountered this problem before? i need some help.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Found a solution: Go to settings > general > accessibility. Turn on assistive touch. A white dote will appear in the corner of your iPad screen. Tap the white button > device > lock screen.

  • 64 GB 3G iPad: There is a problem with your iPad

I just got my 3G iPad and I have this error when plugging in my iPad for the first time:
after waiting for the "Waiting for iPad..." message to end, iTunes shows this:
There is a problem with your iPad
We're sorry, the iPad you connected is not recognized and cannot be activated for service.
We recommend you visit your nearest Apple Store for more information.
To find your nearest Apple Store, click here.
This is a bummer. I just software-updated my MacPro to the latest version of iTunes, too. Are Apple's servers swamped due to the 3G release or do I really have to take it into the Apple Store?

I phoned a manager at a local Apple Store and he suggested trying to get the iPad into restore mode. Holding the "power button" (as I call it, they call it the screen lock button) and the home button reboot the iPad, and iTunes no longer had that "There is a problem with your iPad" screen. I was able to press the restore option in iTunes, and subsequently reinstall the iPad to its "factory setting."
I'm now restoring the iPad 3G from a backup of my iPad Wi-Fi. There was a bit of a delay at the "Waiting for activation" portion of the process, but I'm past that and it's installing a ton of my apps. Hopefully useful for anyone else who gets that error screen.

  • Keeping the iPad screen smudge-free

Hi everyone, can you tell me how YOU keep your iPad screen clean? Mine gets very smudged with fingerprints in an instant. I have a cover for it, but still... what should I use? Look forward to speedy, helpful replies,,, ta.

    Or try following this advice:
"It isn’t the iPad – it’s you. I was having the same problem. So many smudges, it was making me sick to think my fingertips were so greasy. But after using it for 3 weeks now, I’ve realized, I’ve been touching it too hard. It only needs a very light tap, way lighter than you think. Way, way, way lighter. Try usIng the most gentle touch you can imagine. I mean, the barest, almost not touching, little tiny tap. And try using the very tip of your finger, not the pad. Jut the tip, right beneath the fingernail, not the fingerprint part. Same was with scrolling. Don’t drag your fingertip, just barely flick it. Reduces smudges by 90 per cent." (Source)
Or give up and use this as your iPad's wallpaper:

  • My iPad screen has developed a vertical line down the middle

My iPad screen has developed a vertical line down the middle for some reason. I have tried turning it off and resetting it, but the line still appears. Does anyone know what causes this or how it could be rectified?

    Hi JoMayo,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're noticing lines or distortion on your iPad screen, I would suggest completing step 4 (update iPad) and 5 (restore iPad) in our iPad assistant:

Reset it by holding the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.  You won't lose any data by doing this.
