What factors do one need to watch for while designing online transaction processing system (around 450 transactions per second).

Depending on the complexity of what you're calling a transaction and the interdependency of the information, sustaining 450 transactions per second may be a non-trivial exercise. If most of your transactions involve inserting or updating information you're application is likely to be IO bound.
You may want to prototype something that benchmarks raw throughput to your database and disk of choice. Meaning writing records that will approximate the size of what you'll be writing in your transactions. You'll need to find the right combination of number of Threads and transaction size that provides optimal throughput for your environment. Don't underestimate the importance of database tuning. If your prototype can't achieve the throughput you're looking for then you're final application will have no hope.
Recently I worked on an application with similar performance requirements. We prototyped and benchmarked raw throughput as I described above and were able to insert over 2000 200 byte records per second to our database. Our finished application sustains about 75% of that performance. This is on SMP hardware with high-end disk. Good luck.

I have listed below the major informatin neede for your requirement...
1.Go to RSPC to view all the chains.
2.There click on any chain which you want to run/view.
3.Click on the log view(shift+F1) to view all the previous runs of the chain and whether they have failed or successful(here you can select 1 day,week ,month etc in the display range)
4.If you want to modify the chain /add a process type /change the variant then click (Ctrl+F9) and do the changes.
Even you can change the start variant in change mode for manual scheduling>right click on start process typeselect display variant--now select start Direct Scheduling/ API or Metachain
under direct scheuling option you can trigger it by setting start immediately /Date-time/After job/event whatever you want to do
Else you can make it part of a Metachain consisting of different such small local process chains.
Now Click on Schedule (F8) to run this chain manually.
5.For Monitoring use Tcodes SM37/RSPCM/SM50
Also you can use BWCCMS.
I usually prefer sm37 to view all the background jobs but SM50 is also useful.
6.debug loop can be used to debug a process chain.(you have to specify here the gap between one event been triggered and the next subsequent process starting)
to capture process in debugger go to SM37(job overview) or to SM50(process overview)

Selecting pictures for Online Photo Processing Centers other than Kodak

How can I select photos for printing in Elements for online photo processing sites other than Kodak? Is there a simple way to do this in the Organizer? The online photo sites usually give me only a thumbnail view of the picture and I can't tell which is best.
The way I've been doing it is tagging photos in Elements as favorites, and then tabbing back and forth between Elements (to view the pictures) and online site (to find the name). There has to be a better way to do this!

Choose your photos in the organizer and export them to a folder on your desktop, then upload from there.

Got this email from "Apple" today. Unfortunately, Your online access has been blocked.

The rest goes on to say,

Thought so. It's funny that's the 2nd strange email I've gotten today. The first one was from a Funeral home "EUBanks" it said I had a friend who died and they are holding the services and to view the full invitation by clicking here. I looked them up and it's a real place in Texas but at the bottom of their website they had a warning that these fraudulent emails are being sent out. Crazy day! Thanks for your help.

Does anybody else have a problem with this? Why does it still take 3-5 business days to process a transfer? Paypal's system is all computerized, the banks' systems are all computerized, and you know that these transactions never require human input in order to proceed. So, why the wait? Do the computers go to sleep at night? Do they spend time with their family and friends over the weekend? NO!Meanwhile, I am left broke and unable to buy food and gas while the money I earned is stuck in the ether for absolutely no reason. I realize that the wait time is more the bank's fault than Paypal, but the bank doesn't have a community forum for me to rant in.If anybody has a legitimate explanation as to the why this wait time still exists in this era of digitally controlled everything, please share.The money is instantaneously removed from my Paypal account, so it should instantaneously appear in my bank account... that is, unless, some entity is using my money during those several days to earn interest for itself. That is common practice for financial institutions... i.e. your mortgage payment is due at the end of the month, but like most people, you send the payment when you receive the bill. If the payment is received on the 20th, that bank will add your money to an interest earning account along with everybody else's early payments until the actual due date, during which time the bank earns itself a hefty profit. It is only 10 days, but with millions of dollars from all that bank's mortgage accounts. That's alright because you have the choice to send your payment such that it will be received on the due date. But this 3-5 day wait time does not come with a choice, or an explanation as to where your money actually is. I have a problem with that.IF YOU AGREE, WE NEED TO DEMAND PUTING A STOP TO THIS PRACTICE!

I think you got the two methods mixed up: A wire transfer requires account verification by a real person on each end, which causes the transaction to take 3-5 business days to complete. Banks charge a fee for wire transfers, so they make money. Electronic transfers (which you said Paypal uses) are handled completely by computers, and are usually completed within seconds. However, electronic transfers do not incur a fee and the bank makes no money on them. It is absolutely necessary for electronic withdrawals to be processed instantly or else E-commerce would not work. Too many of these transactions occur daily for any bank to have enough employees to approve all the transactions. Not to mention that the bank fee for making such transactions would seriously deter most people from buying anything online.If Paypal does in fact make bank transfers using the electronic method, the money should never disappear for several days. Methinks the bank receives that money within seconds, but uses it to make themselves money for a few days since they otherwise won't make anything off the transaction.My wife used to be a bank teller, and she says that banks find ways to make money off every transaction. If there wasn't a way for them to profit, that type of transaction wouldn't be offered. Makes sense, right?Well damnit, this is my paycheck we are talking about here. I would rather pay a fee and have my money available immediately. Better yet, I would rather NOT pay a fee, and be paid with good 'ol cash which is always instantly usable. But that is not an option in most people's case. Employers pay their employees with checks. Paycheck funds are usually made available instantly so long as you have an equal or greater amount of money already in your account to act as insurance should the check bounce. But if you have that much money in your account, you probably don't need the money from that paycheck right away. You have enough to buy food and gas already.You know what? I hate banks.... plain and simple. They have created a system of profiteering that people cannot avoid. If you live in a home and have bills, it is pretty much impossible to pay those bills without a stupid bank account. Really, the only way to pay without a bank in some circumstances would be to mail cash, which everybody knows is a bad idea. Also, many utilities do not allow you to pay with cash unless you pay at their office in person. I used to live in Colorado, but my gas bill went to an address in Texas. They did not allow payment by cash through the mail. What am I gonna do, drive my payment to Texas every month!? Not possible.Thats enough. I'm done ranting. Its just making me more **bleep** off.

How do I access and delete file from "Save to Your Online Account" area.

I just downloaded the trial version of Acrobat XI. I created a PDF file with sensitive information that I thought would be saved only to my computer but noticed that it was saved to my "online account."
I've searched and found how to reset that feature but I need to know how to access that Online Account and remove my file permanently from it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated (and necessary if I'm to purchase this tool).

That's what it looks like to me, too. It was only saved on my computer. The reason I thought it might be saved online somewhere is because, when I saved the file, there was a box checked that said "Save To Your Online Account." What does this mean then?
Also, when I open the Acrobat application, the file is listed there under Recent Files and it doesn't give me a way to clear the recent file list.
My goal is to make sure that my sensitive information is not being stored somewhere, anywhere online with Adobe or anyone else. The only place I want that file to appear is in the documents file of my computer.

The website for my bank (BofA) tells me 'Your Online ID and/or Location is Missing, Try Again - when I try to sign in.

I updated Firefox (now the icon is Firefox logo and 45r on my desktop). About the same time, I updated some Add-Ons, as suggested on Firefox website.
Now - when I try to log-in with bank website, I type in my user name - and I get the message 'Your online ID and/or location is missing, Please try again.' Initially I thought that it was the bank web-page - but this has been going on for daaays now, so I suspect it is some setting....
ALSO - I started getting re-routed to a strange web-page (this happens randomly), when changing, going to a link on various web sites. oops. The strange website is 'Net Assistant' and it seems to want to help search, I always back out (frequently this takes a few attempts).
I cleaned the cache, got rid of cookies and mopped the floor- (just kidding on that), and I'm not sure what else to do! eek.
I do not have a specific time - or event to relate these two problems ''to'', but I suspect it is either Firefox 4 (45r?) or one of the suggested add-on updates that I did.
Actually, there is a 3rd, probably related problem: My homepage is NPR (http://www.npr.org/) and whenever I click on Firefox (45r) icon, NPR page loads, but I get a message across the top - under address bar, that says 'Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page.'
Not sure what's-up with that either.
p.s. The BofA page has the green 'safe' sign on the address bar.

The warning about the warranty is light hearted, I think at one stage it warned "here be dragons" but also intended to make us think as it warns that making changes may produce problems.

Process Flow Design

I'm looking for some guidance on a Process Flow Design.
Background -
I'm trying to develop a process, using OWB, to load 400+ tables into an ODS (external tables -> DB tables).
Can this be achieved in one process flow or do I need to create multiple process flows (smaller chuncks) or 400+ process flows?
Does any good documentation exist on this subject?

The function RUN_JOB in the package PKG_RUN_REMOTE is the sqlplus_exec_template rewritten as a function which returns the job status (resides in the runtime schema).
We implemented this for OWB 9.0.4, and haven't really looked at it since, so there may be an easier way to do this in the latest version that I'm not aware of.

I created a process flow design in OWB. Now I need to integrate this design into Oracle workflow. How can I implement it? Process flow design is saved as an Jpeg or SVG file. Pls suggest the steps how can I do this? Im new to workflow and owb. Im using OWB 10g.

If you deployed the packages to the same location then the second deployment replaced the result of the first one (actually a new version of the process flow was created). You can execute only the latest version...

Yes it is. You can choose either your Online # or your cellphone #.
Go to > Account Page > Set up Caller ID > Verify Number

Dependent process chains design

HI,
we need to create the transactional process chains design based on the master data flow status. since this both are present in the different flows, we can't have them in the same chains,once the master data process chains are completed then this process chain has to be triggered.
whether we have to write some abap code or another way.

Either you can add them in Meta chain like below

Event to trigger TD chain --(This event you can add for TD PC/start variant - When the event is triggered it will automatically activates TD laods)
-Above design lets TD loads has to wait till all the MD loads gets success, If you can able to understand relation between MD and TD then you can split the chains for MD and create event to trigger corresponding TD chains.. This way as soon as MD loaded corresponding TD will trigger .. OR If you don't have many MD loads and they don't take much time to load then above option would be good
