Issue / bug with big disk capacity

Hi,
When 10.7 was released i had some issues with big capacity disk, two WD Elements Desktop (3 To).
I had EFI error message after disk verification, i was unable to repair it on OS X or using recovery partition, i was unable to proceed to à complète backup. After Lots of tests i decided to go back to 10.6, Thatcher solved thé problem.
Anyone aware of it ?

If you don’t have Macintosh HD icon on the desktop,

If you reinstalled the OS again from Nokia, you may just have a defective phone and there could be something wrong with the hardware. I have two N9's and I haven't experience any of these problems.
Can you record these problems and post the link to youtube here so I can see what's happening?

Mac Mini with BIG disk problems

Hello,
My Mac Mini's still fairly new and under warranty. Here's what happened: It hung a couple of times and had to be hard-rebooted. The last time I did this, it wouldn't get past "Waiting for Network file system" or something like that when booting. I tried booting from CD, and running disk repair. It would only say (in bright RED): "Keys out of order" and "Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit."
My question is, I'm afraid that getting it serviced will get my drive wiped, which I would like to avoid if possible. Out of all of you folk out there in the know, do you think a commercial disk application -- like Tech Tool Pro or Drive -- may be worth trying to try and recover my disk? Or is my situation hopeless?
Obviously, I'm writing from another computer, so I may or may not be able to respond quickly. Still no access at home.

Since it rather seems that some data on the disk is the culprit, Disk Warrior might be better than TechTool for that type of issue. However, there is no guarantee that it will work. If you have another Mac, or a friend with another Mac, you could use FireWire Target Disk Mode to recover as much data as you can.
You may not need to have it serviced at all. If the issue is with the data structure on the drive, then it could be solved by a complete Erase & Install of Mac OS X, which you can do yourself with your Mac OS X Install Disc. Unfortunately, that type of reinstall will wipe all data off your drive ...

Bank DC issue (Bug with ESS 603?)

Hi all,
We are trying to disable the 'Edit' and 'Delete' button in the Bank Overview iView.
As the first step we tried printing some message in the init() and wdDoModify() method of VcPerBankUSOverview of essusbank using IWDMessageManager.After rebuilding and deploying,somehow the messages are not geting printed.
If we try printing in the detail view, its getting printed.But not in the Bizcard view of VcPerBankUSOverview.Am I in the wrong place? Is this bizcard getting created dynamically for Bank Overview screen.
I tried printing messages in Per DC too.
We are in ESS 603.Is this a bug with ESS 603?

Hi,
to disable the Edit and Delete buttons of the bank overview there are 2 options. Neither of them involves changing a standard component or even any kind of development.
1 - Configure the correct authorizations in ECC system so that the users don't have authorization to modify or delete the data.
2 - Disable the buttons by using the Java Webdynpro Personalization: preview the iView and press CTRL + right mouse button on top of the buttons.

Bug with big Black Pixel on Photoshop CC

I recently install Photoshop CC (iMac 2,8 Ghz Intel Core i5, 16Go 1333 Mhz DDR33, Mavericks)
When using different layers, I have a HUGE BLACK PIXEL coming on the picture (365x365px) , often on the low lef corner.
It disapears when I strongly zoom inside but it comes back when I zoom out...
Any idea please ????

it seems to be working right now without OpenCL... I also had a bug with zoom in and zoom out but it seems to be ok too...
I hope it will continue..
(I use to work on heavy pictures with many layers, hope everything will not be too slow without OpenCL)

Were you trying to repair the disk you were booted from? You can't do that - you need to boot from your install disk, and choose 'Disk Utility' from the 'install' menu.

There is no display on Apple Thunderbolt display, when Daisy chain connect with six LaCie Little Big Disks.

I have six LaCie Little Big Disks and Apple Thunderbolt Display to make daisy chan and I got a problem.
I place the Apple Thunderbolt Display at the end of the chain, and six LaCie Little Big Disks infront, and Apple Thunderbolt Display does not show anything.
If I plac the dell u2711 (DP1.1) Display at the end of the chain, and six LaCie Little Big Disks infront , dell u2711(DP1.1) displays.
If I place the Apple Thunderbolt Display at the end of the chain,and five LaCie Little Big Disks infront. Apple Thunderbolt Displays well.
Is it because the hardware limitation that Thunderbolt daisy chan can only have maximum 6 Thunderbolt deivce?
Apple Thunderbolt Display Should be DP1.2, why it doesn’t display?

Linux Mint freezee because of firefox issues with big images

I had few system freezes recently. I am not sure what is the cause of it, but the last one happened when I tried to open image on this website:

My whole system stop responding - both screens frozen, but I could still here sounds from kodi. Could not switch to second terminal.
I use the website on windows 7 firefox without issues. However I've got couple of freezes during upload or clicking on the images. Not sure what could cause the system to freeze, but firefox would be the process which took up to 100% of one core previously.
UPDATE:
Actually System freeze happened on google street view as well, so it is not website related.

What is the usable space of normal redundancy disk group with two uneven capacity fail groups

I have a normal redundancy disk group (DATA) with two uneven capacity fail groups (FG1 and FG2). FG1 size is 10GB and FG2 size is 100GB.
In this case what will be the usable space of the disk group (DATA)? is it 10G or 55G?

Trouble with LaCie Big Disk?

I saw on an archived topic that some others had problems with this 500g LaCie Big Disk. I was curious if there was anyone out there who was having the same problems I am.
The Drive will just periodically shut off for no reason whatever. It's not in use, or anything, it's just sitting there being on, and I get the warning that I've disconnected the drive and don't ever do that, etc.
I informed LaCie about this. I was out of warranty, and they just sent me a new one and it just did the same thing.
Anyone else having problems like this???
If so, was it resolved??

Sparse disk, with elastic dinamic capacity, works only if made with carbon copy

I am trying to create a sparse image disk to put unlimitlessly all projects from final cut pro, when i create it with carbon copy cloner I achieve my goal but i cant obtain same result with utility disk, why, it seems I use same setting

Without details, it's anyone's guess what your problem might be. Post the Disk Utility steps or the diskutil commands and maybe someone can help.

BlueTooth bug with car

Since the 4.3 update there's a big bug with the bluetooth connection with the car system - it still exists after a factory reset:
I paired the phone and the car. But every time they connect, I get a message box if I want to grant access to my phone's messages. Even the "Allow always" option does not work and I get asked every time. Very annoying!!

Hello, I'm having the same issue after updating my Xperia SP to Android 4.3 (12.1.A.0.266). In my car (Mercedes Benz A-Class from 2013) there is a radio called "Audio 20 CD" built in. Every time when I want to get into my car, my smartphone wants a connection request for my messages (SMS).The option "Always Allow" does not work. The phone does not remember the next time. I tried several times a new pairing of phone and car radio and I cleared the cache of the bluetooth-share app and smart connect app, but this didn't solve the problem. Is there a fix available? LaCie 500g Big Disk getting hardware error on new Mac Mini

I accidentally unplugged the power cord on my new MacMini (it looks and feels very much like a firewire cable!) After that my LaCie Big Disk became unsearchable. It WILL mount with both Firewire and USB2.0 cables. I ran Disk Utility. I do not get the option to repair ANY permissions on either the Volume or the Disk itself only the option to "Verify Disk" or "Repair Disk". The resulting error is posted below. It is no longer searchable on the OS 9.2.2 G4 computer either.
I DO have the latest software updates. This external LaCie hard drive was Mac HFS+ formatted and working previously on OS9.2.2 and I will need to switch it back and forth between the OS 9.2. computer and my new MacMini. Have I any other choice but to reformat? If so which format will allow back and forth usage between OS 9 and OS X?

Hi Kim, I had a similar (although not exactly the same) experience to yours when I first got my LaCie (which is a d2, 250 GB) and accidentally cut power (with the power button on the HD itself) to the disk while my computer was in sleep mode. Since it was my boot drive, I also got kernel panics, and the only way I was able to get rid of them (and get a working system) was an Erase & Install of OS X. Fortunately, I was able to retrieve all my files, but you seem unable to browse it anymore, I guess that's what you mean when you say it isn't "searchable". Hope you had a good backup solution ...
What Disk Utility reports - Invalid Node Structure - is exactly the same issue I had, and Disk Utility doesn't seem able to repair it easily. Since you don't seem to use the drive to boot, you can simply reformat it using Disk Utility. I would suggest HFS+, and if you want to boot OS 9, select the "Install OS 9 drivers" option.
BTW I'm not sure whether you can get a dual-boot OS 9/OS X for Intel system (in case you'd be interested), because booting off an external drive on a Macintel requires the drive to be formatted with the GUID partition scheme, whereas OS 9 porbably only works with Apple's partition scheme.

Icon and use of LaCie Big Disk+ no longer

I purchased a LaCie 1 TB big disk+ external drive. Worked great out of the box. Large enough that I unloaded all of my other external drives onto it. Now, it (the icon) no longer appears on the desktop, allowing me access. The profiler states that it's recognized. I'm using my firewire 800 port which works fine with other drives, so that's not the problem. I also tried connecting it using the firewire 400 port. No luck. I've rebooted numerous times, with and without the drive plugged in. I've turned it on and off, disconnected the power temporarily, disconnected and reconnected, tried reloading the drivers, but get the message they're up to date and fine. Help!

Often LaCie drives will have power supply brick issues that are difficult to troubleshoot as the blue light comes on and the disk spins but nobody is home.
If the drive is under warranty LaCie will replace the brick no charge.
As an aside, you still need to backup the data that is on this drive otherwise you stand a chance of losing all of your data should the drive fail.
