Issue in updating Cost Centers for Employees

Hi All,
1.     Is it necessary that infotype 0000 & 0001 needs to be in synchronization i.e. both the infotypes should contain same no. of records?
2.     Is it necessary to assign cost center to both the position and the employee in infotype 0027 for Payroll purpose or either of one assignment is sufficient? What is the purpose of assigning cost center to a position & cost center to an employee in infotype 0027
3.     We have assigned cost centers to positions & all the employees via infotype 0027. Now I have a situation that the company has created new cost centers as per their business line with effect from Jan 2011. How do I update these new cost centers to position as well as all the employees?
If I assign new cost center to all the positions thru PO13 from 01.01.2011 than system delimits the record in infotype 0001 so now there is 1 record in infotype 0000 & 2 records in infotype 0001. For example an employee is hired on 01.03.2009 with cost center A assigned to his position & in infotype 0027. Now if I assign new cost center B to his position than the system delimits hiring record in infotype 0001. So now there are 2 records in infotype 0001 i.e. 01.03.2009 to 31.12.2010 & second is 01.01.2011 to 31.12.9999. If I do the assignment of new cost centers only in infotype 0027 then system posts the payroll result to old cost center rather than new cost centers. How to resolve this issue?

1. Yes. It should be. But in your case this is an exception. It will still work even if the 0000 and 0001 don't have the same number of records.
2. You should only use it0027 if an employee is charging costs to two or more cost centers. You can define here the cost centers where they are charging and the percentage of division between cost centers
If you dont have scenarios like this, DO NOT use this infotype.
For assignment of cost centers to employee (Infotype 1) or to positions (via PO13). You should only use one method. If you are assigning the cost center manually in IT0001 during hiring then you don't need to enter the cost center in the positions.
If you are entering the cost center in the Positions objects, then configure the system so that everytime you do hiring actions (or maintain infotype 1) the cost center assigned to the position is inherited in the infotype 1's cost center field.
Don't assign it to both Infotype 1 manually and the position at the same time, using this method, you'll eventually have data inconsistencies.
For you issue regarding the delimitation of the IT0001, this is ok. This is standard, the infotype 1 is delimited since you have a new cost center assignment for the succeeding period.  You don't have to create an Action record since there was no employee movement, only change in cost center assignment. (which is the purpose of the Action infotype-- to record employee movement)
It won't mess with your payroll, your infotype 1 just have an extra record.

    I am facing a peculiar warning message while running the payroll posting run for only 2 employees.  The warning message s as follows:
    "Acc.assignment object replaced by current master cost center for employee
    Message no. 3G399"
    Prior to this, there were an error saying the
    "Account assignment objects are incorrect. No substitution is possible.
    Message no. 3G209"
    Later we found that the Position was not assigned to that employee properly.  I later assigned the correct position.. but still during the posting run the warning message appears.
    Please let me know if this is okay or is this an error which restricts the postings.

    Your postings will go through with the first warning message. However, please be warned that any account assignment related entries (IT 0027, 2001, 2002) will be wholly ignored.
    Check if any entries have been made to different cost centers for the erroring employees. If so, check for the reason why those entries have been made (since it is evident that the configuration does not support such entries). You may need to tie in with a CO consultant to ensure that there are no loose ends.

  • Different Cost Centers for Different Line Items in a single Reservation

    When we create a Material Reservation, we give the cost center at the header level and that cost center is accounted for each of the line items in the reservation. But when the reservation has many line items which depend on different cost centers,  there is a need to enter different cost centers for different line items in the same Material Reservation. How can this be done? Please suggest.

    It's a standard restriction in SAP functionality  where one reservation document can only accommodate one cost center.
    You can not maintain multiple cost centres for individual line items.
    You have to create seperate Reservations for each cost centre.

    I need to get cost centers for positions, both vacant and occupied positions. I've tried PA0001 but this one only caters for positions which have already been occupied.

    Hi There, I have a simillar problem as above, however I would like a list of all G/L Accounts with profit centres and cost centres as well. Is this possible? Reason being that I have many unassigned cost centres and need to link them to profit centres.
    Is there also a mass processing list to see which G/L accounts dont have primary elements assigned?

    In general, Cost Centers are not meant for revenue posting. They are meant for expenses. However, you can allow them by your cost center category. But, this is not industry best practice.
    Cost center, WBS element and Internal Orders are real CO objects, where the real postings will flow.
    Profit Center is always statistical only (statistical means just for information postings) - These postings are like shadow postings.
    When you give two real CO object for posting like Cost Center and Internal Order (Real), then real postings will go to Internal Order (Real) and statistical postings will flow to Cost Center and the profit center assigned to Internal Order. Cost center will modify itself to a real or statistical based on the other CO object given.

    I have change the cost centers for about 1500 assets. I am not sure if there is an easy way to do it. Is there any way to get this list in excel and upload?

    I hope the above given suggestions will not fullfill your requirement,
    Do follow the below steps for carrying out mass change of cost centers in asset master data.
    Enter t.code-AR01 - Generate
    Enter your Co.code and the assets numbers for which the cost centers have to be changed and execute.
    In the next screen select Create worklist (CntrlShiftF8)
    Give the worlist a Name and select-Change asset w/o dialog (bulk change) and press enter,from the next pop up select create Substitution,where you will be taken to creation of Substitution rule.
    Write a Substitution as per requirement and assisn the same to your company code.
    Where  you will be prompted with a message "Work queue XXXXXXXX added".
    Now enter into AR31 - Edit and release the woklist and see that your mass change of cost centers is carried out.

  • How to change cost center for employee

    I want the engineering groups to change to different cost centers for this new year.I was able to change the home cost center for a work center through IR02. But not able to change the home cost center assignment for specific personnel through PA30. SAP allows to enter the cost center but while saving it gives the error message as "Start date after initial entry date (01/01/2010)" when I used a 01/01/2011 start date and "Cost Center does not exist on 01/01/2010" when I used 01/01/2010 start date
    Could please tell how to change the cost center for the personnel?

    Hi Jegashree!
    The Cost Centre is always assigned in creating Position. So If you want to change Cost Centre, please using T-Code PPOME and find the position and change the Cost Centre.
    The another way, you use t-code PP01 (create) PP02 (edit) to change the relationship (IT 1001) and A-011.

  • Validation for Cost center for Goods issue against the cost centers

    Dear Friends
    In my client place we have 6 plants are defined and profit centers are defined for each plant. Hence here each plant is one profit center. Cost centers are defined plant wise.
    The requirement is when the goods issued to cost center system should check the cost center is defined against the plant. ( i.e., Cost center def against the Profit Center, and Profit center equal to Plant).
    Is there any provision to assign the plant to profit center or vice versa?
    Please guide me how to resolve the issue.

    Hi,
    What's the functional requirement for that? G/L represents costs nature and should not be dependent on target cost object. Through the cost centres, you will be able already to distinguish the goods issue.

  • Issue with Update Rollup 5 for Exchange 2010 SP3 - Mailboxes that were auto mapped not working

    Below is  my response in another thread but creating a new one in the hopes that someone has the same issue and a solution besides mine below.
    Ever since we installed Update Rollup 5 for SP3 Exchange 2010 mailboxes that were auto mapped are not accessible. They all get the same error.
    Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange has failed.
    What I have been doing is removing the users permission, then adding them back using the noautomap switch in Powershell. After doing that, the user manually adds the mailbox and all is well.
    Just a note here, I suspect it may have something to do with the version of Outlook 2010. We are running an older version here. I think only SP1 with no other incremental updates. Office is up to SP2. Also, one of the users I was working with could not access
    the mailbox no matter what we tried but she can walk over to another workstation and open Outlook and access the very same mailbox so that pretty much proves its software related particularly with Outlook.
    I cannot reproduce the problem on a workstation (XP) with a newer version of Outlook.
    This has been wearing me out and I suspected the Update Rollup all long. Now I am confident as others are having the same problem. If you find out anything on how to fix this other than the steps above, let me know.

    Not sure why it was suggested to use the auto mapping feature to grant permissions because that is the component that is causing the issue. Also, there is nothing wrong with the auto configuration because the user can access their own mailbox just fine and
    also select mailboxes in their Outlook that were NOT auto mapped.
    With that said, here is how I fixed them all.
    Remove the permissions using the Exchange Console. Don't forget Send As
    Wait about 15 minutes. The mailbox should disappear from the users Outlook
    Open an Exchange PowerShell window and run the following command:
    .\add-mailboxpermissionsnoautomap.ps1 -Identity mailbox -User user -AccessRights FullAccess
    Have the user add the mailbox to their Outlook using the manual process.
    All is well....
    If you don't have the PS script add-mailboxpermissionsnoautomap.ps1, you can download it. I stumbled across it a few years ago and use it all the time. If you can't find it, just use the Exchange built in command for adding mailbox folder permissions but
    specify automap $false.
    The idea here is to grant the user access without auto mapping.

  • Cache issue coming in Start Process for Employee iView under MSS

    Navigate to MSS -> Team -> HCM Process and Forms -> Start Process for Employee
    In Start Process for Employee iView, when I clicks on Refresh link at the bottom right of the table the Direct Reports got removed from the table (which is correct) but when I navigates to some other screen and comes back then again the previous data comes back. It seems to be cache level issue. Even I logs off and login the same data comes back which should not happen.
    I have checked the forum [Team=>Personnel Developent=>Employee Search; and found it that Refesh property will work if I set the parameter of iview Cache Lifetime = -1 then it will disable the caching at all.
    And I wants the same behaviour for Start Process for Employee iView. But I am not able to find the similar property in Start Process for Employee iView.
    Anyone have an idea of What is the resolution for this issue?

    now I understand your problem )
    To me it sounds like an OADP cache issue rather than one in Portal. The iview uses OADP which again uses the cache which does not reflect on the actual current org-structure.
    One possibility would be enhancing the WD4A and call FMs
    HRWPC_OADP_DELETE_TGTOBJCACHE
    HRWPC_OADP_DELETE_SRCHOBJCACHE
    HRWPC_OADP_DELETE_NAVOBJCACHE
    HRWPC_OADP_DELETE_DATAVWCACHE
    dependent on what you want to delete to refresh.
    I would probably try to enhance HookMethod WDDOINIT in Component Controller and call them there, but that's just a guess; could be complete nonesense.
    Another possibility would be trying to add the application parameter "sap.xss.req.crt.cachelifetime=0" to the iView.

  • Cost Centers for Work Centers

    Dear All,
    In our senario we have defined 30 Work Centers required.   here the Activity are only for 2 (labour, Mechaine Hr).  In KP26 we have to maintain the Standard Price.   How can we build a logic in this.  Can we create 30 Cost Centers.  Y becoz each end eavery work center have the different price for Labour.  for EX;
    WC1 - 150 Labour Cost
    WC2 - 180 Labour Cost
    WC3 - 190 Labour Cost
    Like this we have to calculate.  I hope it is required to create 30 Cost Center to assaign wot Wrok Centers.  Here we are going to KP06.  We have a standrd pirce to calculate.

    IF the business is interested in capturing using different cost centers means then you can create individual cost center and
    assign it to the work center and define the rates in KP26.So only one activity type will be there but different cost center.
    The otherway is creating multiple activity types say LABH1,LABH2....and creating different rates for the activity type ans same
    cost center combination in KP26.But here the challenge is you have to assign the activity types properly under costing tab
    against the formulas.

    We have a org structure
    When a parent org unit is assigned a kost center then the parent also inherites the kost center
    I need to find kost center for all the org unit in my organization
    I cant see the inherited cost center neither in IT 1001 nor 1008 nor 1015 but i can see it in PPOME in the account assignment tab.
    How can i find the inherited cost centers to all the org units.

    Use the report RHSTRU00 in tcode SE38
    and give the follwoing values in selection screen
    Plan version                    01  Current plan
    Object type                     O   Organizational unit
    Evaluation Path               A011       All relationships to A011 -> cost
    execute the report to see all the orgunits with their cost centers

    Is there a way to update Costing for a Contingent worker? In some installations I can do it (in Vision insallation) in Some I can't. What makes it available.
    I know Contingent do not get payroll, and this is Payroll costing , but the customer do not use the payroll and wants to keep Contingent Costing Segments.

    Just curious about your requirement, why do you need to store the costing for the Contingent worker. If you want to know the actual cost in the GL, you can able to track it down from the Invoice that is paid for the vendor of this consultant
